Who also claims to be a professional arrived to Los Angeles and needed movers to unload the truck he had to hire other professional movers . They pick stuff up and they put it down. It seems like a simple concept, but that action conspires to make moving one of the worst times in an otherwise uneventful life. You hate it. I hate it. The guys at Nice Moves probably hate it... but they're willing to do it for money... and I'm willing to pay them. There really isn't much to say other than they were on time, they didn't break anything, and they were all pleasant. Their price was VERY reasonable, although they did underestimate the time to move us by a good margin. It's nice to not have to schedule a walk-through among all the other things you're doing while attempting to move, but I can't say I like the news of being charged more. Washington law prevents movers charging more than 20% their estimate and we certainly had to make use of it (by agreement). Even with the "surprise," their prices was still reasonable and we happily paid it. read more

I called Nice Moves six days before we were moving from Capital Hill/Madison Valley to Beacon Hill, and we were pleasantly surprised that they were able to move us (although they did have a cancellation - can't say this would always be the case). We also had kind of a complex move (my partner and I moved in together, so we were combining two households, and then dropping off some stuff at our friend's home before we moved into the new place - they never gave us any grief about it). They showed up right on time, were super friendly, and moved our stuff in less than the estimated time. At one point my partner and I asked if we should help move some of the items and they told us, "you guys are paying us to do this for you, so while you're more than welcome to pitch in, you could just kick back and relax." Hands down, the best moving experience we've had. We've moved a ton - cross-country and locally - but this was our first move within Seattle. This company came highly recommended to us and now we know why. Scott was thorough, professional, and friendly during his initial walk through. I trusted his judgment immediately. His estimate was very reasonable and ended up being $300 over what I ended up paying...a nice surprise. He was accessible via phone and email and answered all my questions. The move itself - I had packing and moving services. Both days, the crew showed up promptly. They worked hard, barely stopping to move. They disassembled and reassembled furniture, moved heavy mattresses and dressers, and did it all with a great attitude. I do have to say more about the crew. Scott has hired some stellar guys. They were courteous and kind to not only us but to our children. I trusted them with our belongings and they were careful and respectful of them. Moved from Ballard to Wedgewood yesterday morning and these guys were great. Showed up right on time, got right to work, and were extremely efficient. I hate moving and they made the process easy and painless. Because I moved on a Sunday, there was a 4 hour minimum charge (of which I was well aware of prior to them arriving), but the move only took about 2.5 hours total. I've used these movers at least 6 times over 3 years (moving my home several times, as well as my mom and my bf's stuff. They are always on time, professional, hard working and get the job done well under the estimated time frame. I get a repeat business discount of 10% for using them again and this is a real deal. Aaron and Paul are awesome and Steven is great too. I recommend using their truck (it saves so much hassle from having to get the truck yourself and it really is cost effective). Scott and his guys were great. Called a week before looking for a end of month Saturday move and he said they would make it happen. I also needed a 16 ft truck with 3 guys, not one of their standard offerings... no problem. They were supposed to start at 9am... they were there at 8:55 am and got right to work. I'm surprised I'm the only person who had a negative experience with these guys. Sure, they were very calm and nice; however, it took them 3 hours to load a small one bedroom apartment into their van. One of the guys even mentioned that I didn't have much stuff. One guy brought everything down and the other went between moving stuff around in the truck to checking his phone. He probably didn't know I could see him from my window. Then they decided to take an hour lunch break at a sit down restaurant before unloading my stuff. What should have taken 3-4 hours ended up taking over 5 hours. How did it take 3 hours to load from a building that had an elevator and only about an hour and a half to unload and walk up three flights of stairs? Oh, I know, the guy decided to get out of the truck and actually help. They get two stars for being friendly. read more

My wife and I just recently moved to Seattle from L.A. We had help in California, but not in Seattle. We knew that moving our furniture and belongs up three flights of stairs was something that we needed help with. I started my search for movers on Yelp and I noticed that Nice Moves received some very good reviews. After calling them up and having them help us with the move, I can see why they received such favorable reviews. First off, I made reservations with Scott. We made reservations for the Friday of our move. Later, I asked to have the help come on Saturday. It wasn't until later that I realized that we needed them to help us out on the Friday originally scheduled, not Saturday. Making a long distance move with so many things going on can do that to even the most organized of people. However, Scott was very understanding and reworked our arraignments for Friday. Scott's consideration and willingness to be flexible with us was the first gold star. The day of the move came, and in the middle of the Seattle rain, the two movers came early before the scheduled time which was fine with us. After showing them the unit, they immediately began to pack up all of our belongs from the truck and brought them all up with no breaks in between. The guys were courteous, friendly and very focused on getting our stuff out of the truck and into our new home. Before we knew it, the big items like the couch, our TV, our bed, dresser and many other items were all out of the truck and in the apartment. The hard part of the move was officially over! The total cost of the labor was $190. But I feel that it was money well spent. Having to do the move by ourselves would have probably been too stressful of an event. Using Nice Moves helped to alleviate a lot of that stress. Nice Moves provided us with a good start to our new life in the NW and for that we are forever grateful. I was referred to this company by my realtor, after getting bids from two other companies. Nice Moves was several hundred dollars cheaper and had killer Yelp reviews. The crew did a really good job moving me from Greenwood to Crown Hill. They came at 9 a.m. and had the truck packed by noon. They even dropped off several pieces of furniture to the Goodwill on the way to my new home. The crew was resourceful in getting my stuff into the condo building. Their truck was too big to get into the parking garage, so they moved boxes & furniture on dollies into the garage and to the elevator. They handled my stuff with care and nothing was damaged or misplaced. Oz has a good eye and helped me figure out where to put furniture. I recommend this company highly. read more

I used Nice Moves Moving to help my post-stroke Father-in-law move the most prized of his lifetime's collection of antiques from a storage unit into a senior living apartment. I was extremely happy with them and so glad I chose them for our move. I warned them ahead that due to the stroke he has very poor balance and some lack of awareness and tends to get in the middle of things and try to do things he shouldn't do in his current state. Also that he cares greatly about every single one of the antiques, most irreplaceable items from the 1800's. From the first phone call with the owner, Scott, through the entire process Nice Moves employees were very professional, friendly and honest. Scott gave me an estimate of 4-6 hours and answered all my questions. The truck showed up exactly on time with Jim and Stephan who were both absolutely wonderful. They did a quick, efficient inventory of stuff, estimated it would take 4 hours, then carefully and efficiently completed it in 3 and as promised I then was charged for just the 3 hours. Not only were they very careful with his stuff, they were careful with him as well and even engaged in some conversation with him about the history of some of the things (without slowing their progress). The move went much smoother than I expected - absolutely no problems in fact, it was even a pleasant experience - it was by far the best experience I have ever had with a moving company. I was very impressed. My Father-in-law was very happy with them, and happy that all his antiques made it safe and sound into his new place. And his happiness with the move made me happier still! The Cap Hill move-in was challenging due to scare parking and elevator issues, but not once were there any complaints made by the team of 2 movers. These guys were top notch! They showed up right on time. They were friendly and they new their business. They looked over everything, and gave us an estimate for time at the beginning and they came in almost an hour under the estimate. During the move they stopped to show us little bits of damage on this or that piece of furniture that they were worried they had caused. Every time we reassured them the damage was there from us moving all this stuff ourselves, repeatedly, in the past. The thoughtfulness and conscientiousness of pointing it out to us like they did, was very impressive to me. The pricing was very reasonable and they told us at the end that they have a 10% discount, for life, for repeat customers. Amazing movers! I highly recommend this company. We were moving from Seattle to Texas. A friend who had used them for two local moves suggested we call, but wasn't sure if they would did long distance moves. The owner was upfront about the different services/options we could consider from a full service door to door move or a modified self move. We opted for the modified self move because of scheduling conflict and cost. Nice Moves Moving loaded up the truck in seattle, then a commercial trucking outfit drove it to Texas and we had another moving company unload for us. The three guys who came from Nice Moves Moving were all very polite and professional. They also had master puzzle skills, because we ended up needing to move a bunch more stuff then we had reserved space for on the commercial truck. At one point it looked like several boxes would not fit. But the guys put on their problem solving hats and repositioned a few items and had everything fit. Plus it was all securely packed such that even after two or three thousand mile drive everything came out in good condition. nothing was damaged. Lastly, the guys from Nice moves moving were fast and hard working. This was especially obvious when we saw the unprofessional slow service of the movers who we hired to unload the truck. NOTE: if considering a long distance modified self move use Broadway Express trucking out of Illinois not ABF trucking or UPack. Broadway Express driver was awesome and the truck has an airlift ride and two axel so better shocks meaning everything arrived in the same condition it was packed. We have heard from others that the ABF/U-pack trucks with only a single axel often result in broken property. read more

Worst. Company. Ever!!! We've moved quite a bit in the last several years (mostly locally) and I think this was the worst move EVER! We had them do both the packing and moving and we had a problem with both. First, whoever packed our office decided that we didn't need any wrapping paper (even though we had STACKS of them) so everything got jammed into boxes, including two porcelain dolls my mother got me when I was born. Needless to say, they got broken... but more on that later. They failed to pack several items and so I had to go back later and pack them myself. Then, on the move day, they only showed up with TWO movers instead of the THREE I requested. They got a replacement 3 hours later but they ended up having to work longer than 8 pm where they made ME pay for the OVERTIME!!!! They also broke 2 20" serving plates (which at least they told me about), the dolls I mentioned earlier, a sewing machine I watched them drop off the truck but they never told me about (I just happened to look down from a second story window), two lamps, and several other items. They also scratched up my foyer (which they did come fix but not very well....). So, on top of ALL that, the day the manager came to fix the wall, he weighed all of the stuff to figure out how much he owes me in damages. (I have never had problems with moving companies in the past so I only got the basic insurance). He said he will send me a measly $22 check in the mail... It's been 9 months.... Haven't seen it yet!!! I will NEVER recommend this company!!!! read more

I needed movers to unload a 16 foot truck that we were driving from Portland to Seattle. We had a specific move-in time slot to use the elevators in the apartment building and to make matters worse, there was very limited parking in front of the building Timing was EVERYTHING! Scott kept us posted on the availability and timing of the movers he assigned to our job on our drive up Interstate 5. At the very last minute, one of his movers became injured and Scott stepped in to take his place! I contacted Nice Moves on the recommendation from both my mother in law and my brother in law, both have used them previously. We were living, and moving out of, a house in Olympia, Wa. Though NMM is located in Seattle I thought I'd give them a try, based solely on the recommendations I had received. Scott (the owner) met me at our home to appraise how much we had, determine the size of truck needed, the size of the crew needed and of course give us an estimate. The price was higher than I would have liked but he and his crew were coming out of Seattle so I expected the higher price. Moving day came and the crew showed up...slightly late but not a problem. The move went fairly smoothly until it came time to move the refrigerator. We had had the linoleum in our kitchen replaced the previous year, with a higher end vinyl. In the process of removing the fridge the workers somehow tore 2 holes in the flooring (a little concerning since we had already sold the home). We contacted Scott and our realtor to find out what we needed to do. The realtor took care of things for us on the buyers end of the deal and Scott told us, since we had purchased the insurance, everything was covered. The rest of the move went smoothly except for a couple of yard and garden tools that were left in the garage (we picked them up ourselves later). My wife and I had to fly out of town shortly after the move so I was a little concerned if the flooring would actually be paid for by either the moving company or the insurance...even though Scott assured me it would be taken care of. We returned from our trip and I gave Scott a call. I had been in contact with him where he indicated that because of the cost of the flooring he would pay it directly rather than file a claim through his insurance carrier. When we returned I discovered no check in the mail. I called to inquire and Scott assured me he had sent the check...two days later it arrived. While this post may seem like I am being negative about our experience nothing could be farther from the truth. I understand that there will always be problems associated with any move. A problem free move happens rarely. While I had my doubts and concerns, both during and after the move, the employees and the management/owner were very professional. If it weren't for the expenses involved in our next move (to Colorado) I would call Scott and his crew again in an instant. They were prompt, courteous, and gave adequate notice when there were any issues. If you're looking for a perfect move I'm not sure you'll find it anywhere. But if you're looking for a company that will do what you need, for a reasonable price, and still be happy when you're finished then you can't go wrong with hiring Nice Moves.
