After giving Kangaroo Movers a detailed inventory -- including photos -- they estimated $915 for Day 1. When the day ended, the bill was $3,700, more than FOUR TIMES the original quote, based on hours they simply didn't work. I planned the move around their original estimate and was blindsided by the inflated charge. On top of that, the lead mover pressured me for a tip in a way that felt super-aggressive and genuinely menacing. (That was a first, never had that happen before.) There was also minor damage, and the company agreed in writing to reimburse $200 for the repair but never paid, despite multiple follow‑ups. Communication from the office became slow, contradictory, and evasive, with shifting explanations whenever I pointed out their own written terms. Then they just went dark. Between the inflated charges, the unfulfilled reimbursement, the evasive communication, and the uncomfortable behavior from the lead mover, the experience deteriorated quickly. 2024 update: We re-hired Kangaroo Movers for another move. As last time, they were fantastic. We were given an arrival window of 2 to 5 PM and they showed up with 3 guys at 5pm (their previous job ran late -- understandable). We did a quick walk through of the house and then they got to work. We finished a 4 bedroom house in about 7 hours. They professionally wrapped everything, used blankets and carefully packed the truck at an impressive pace. One small thing that everyone should be aware of is that you get X amount of all the packing material for free (tape, shrink-wrap, wardrobe boxes) and anything used beyond that you bill be charged for. In our case, we ended up using more than the free tier and paid a bit extra at the end. This bit is clearly indicated in the contract ahead of time. We ended up paying for around 7-8 hours of labor + $50 fuel/truck fee + extra moving material + tip. Total was around $1800. The movers worked tirelessly until 1AM and were able to get everything moved without any issues. I would re-hire Kangaroo Movers again and again and would totally recommend them to anyone. read more

TLDR: use another company PROS: office responsive when setting up booking; team was on time; team worked hard during move; movers took direction well on placing materials in new space. CONS: overcharging; minimal furniture protection; disregard when damage noted - Overcharging: The team showed up at 10:46a for an 11am booking and they physically left at 1:49p after the crew had stopped work and we finalized the invoice, payment, etc. They were efficient over 3 hours of work. The bill claimed 3.5 hours, which is dishonest math and can be verified by call logs and digital payment. When I inquired in the moment, I was told the 3.5 hours was because they started early. It is true they started before 11am but it does not mean they worked 3.5 hours. As a side note on cost, Kangaroo has a lower hourly rate than some other firms yet their add-on charges will ratchet up your total cost very quickly. - Minimal furniture protection: I didn't see a single blanket used when they moved furniture. While they weren't loading into a truck and driving across town, they did go through some narrow doorways, packed an elevator tightly, and (according to their charges) had a long walk down the hall. The most protection was plastic wrapping on some items which seemed to hold things together, such as drawers in side tables, rather than offer protection. We found out through experience that plastic wrap is not protection. I did end up with a damaged doorway and damage to my new dining room table. - Dismissed damage: When I pointed out the damage to the dining table, the boss asked if the table still worked and if it was still strong. This is an absurd metric and dishonestly evasive since nearly every object can be abused without being rendered unusable. Look, I know damage can happen (that's why you use blankets) and when it does, an apology can go a long way. Yet the Kangaroo team was not interested in either. Context: this was a move within a building (i.e. down a hall, up in freight elevator, down hall) and we had done 95% of the packing completed for Kangaroo arrival. It is IMPORTANT to be CAREFUL about this company. While the movers were nice & respectful, their BILLING is NOT. I was told by a dispatcher named Rista that I would be billed $140/hour for cash & $150 an hour for a credit card. WOW, how moving charges have gone up. Anyhow, while this part was clear to me, it was NEVER made clear that I would be BILLED for a FULL DAY'S MOVE even though the move took only 6 hours. When I told the mover I was SHOCKED & HOW this felt IMMORAL & UNETHICAL, he said yes, this is how we do it. I told him about Rista the dispatcher and how this was NEVER disclosed to me. He said sorry for this. RELUCTANTLY I paid the $1,107 bill for 8 hours INSTEAD of 6 hours. It did NOT feel good. To add, I was BILLED for SHRINK WRAP which was NEVER disclosed UP FRONT either. Finally, while most of the move was fine, I did have dress shirts that wound up at the bottom of a make-shift cardboard box 'closet' which wound up very wrinkled. I took those 5 shirts to the cleaners today. Finally, I wrote a letter to the Attorney General's Office of Washington State about this horrible & UNETHICAL experience. I've used Kangaroo Movers for my last 3 moves, and I can, without a doubt, say that they are some of the best movers in the city. They've always been really responsive when I've requested a quote and also reasonably priced compared to other companies that I've reached out to in the area. All 3 times, they've shown up well within the window I'd reserved and are really efficient when it comes to the move itself. Even on my most recent move, when I went from a building with an elevator to one without, they managed to complete the move well within the time frame that they quoted. Additionally, all of my furniture was well wrapped and handled with care. One thing to note, though, is that they won't move your TV without a box. I was surprised by this the first time and ended up having to purchase one from them the day of. If you want to avoid that, I'd recommend boxing your TV ahead of time. But overall, I would absolutely recommend this moving company, and I will continue to use them as well. read more

When I scheduled Kangaroo Movers to unpack the two small pods into my new condo the schedulers told me that I needed 3 people for 3 hours. The unloading team was done in 1-1/2 hours. They were very efficient and pleasant. They told me that I should get a refund of $200 for the unused time. I called the office and was told that I did not qualify for a refund because I had scheduled the 3 men for 3 hours. I don't have an issue with the moving team. They were very good. Excellent! From start to finish, this company did a great job. My landlord made an error so I had to find a new moving company at the last minute, as the one I had booked couldn't accommodate the new move date. This was just after surgery in the hospital so it was even more stressful. I called Kangaroo, and they had availability for less than 48 hours away. I spoke to someone who was polite and pleasant to make the reservation. I was emailed an invoice a few hours later to pay $120 in advance for booking and fuel. The next day, I got a text reminding me of the move details and a friendly reminder to pay the invoice if I hadn't already. The day of the move, Juan called me to let me know they were leaving the yard and would arrive in 45 minutes. The crew arrived on time, and he called again to let me know. They were 5 minutes earlier than the start of the 3 hour arrival time. The 3 man crew worked well and finished moving a 2 bedroom apartment in just under 3 hours. I moved in the same complex. They didn't need the truck. The other men were polite and worked hard like Juan. They assembled/dissembled furniture, wrapping it in pads and plastic wrap to protect it. One gentleman didn't speak English well, but we were able to communicate on where to place items. The fees were reasonable. Old place had 3 flights of stairs. The first 15 stairs are free, then it's $2 a stair. They give a discount if you pay in cash. I was shown the final invoice and the cost was broken down for me by Juan. The company called me 2 days after the move to make sure everything went well. My only complaint was 1 guy didn't wear a mask most of the time. The rep that called me appreciated me letting him know. Great job & good experience. This was a small job for them; I only needed a couple of items picked up, delivered, hauled up stairs, and put in place. But they were too big for a car, I wanted a nice clean truck, and I needed the man power for the heavy lifting. I'm also up a flight of stairs, older & handicapped; so it was all I could handle to be clearing, sorting & cleaning for the new furniture. Their help allowed me to focus on that end. After not the greatest experience w a hauler team the day before (crew was great, but felt nickled & dimed by office manager), I had a bit of a biding war and chose Kangaroo. They not only gave me the best price, but I liked what they had to offer, and they were available pretty immediately. I actually had to hustle to get things on my end handled, so it was a great motivator. The manager (Michael, if I remember correctly) was super communicative and patient w my clarifications. Again, he was paying the price for my annoyance with another company; but in the end I felt everything was clear, went as promised, and there were no surprises or unexpected changes in fees, etc. He was also super communicative about timing, etc. which was REALLY helpful. The movers were fantastic! They were careful, efficient, accommodating & friendly. It was probably the best experience with movers I've ever had, and I grew up moving every couple of years. I hired Kangaroo to move (furniture only) from a 2 bedroom house. All furniture was emptied and ready to go. (Other belongings were moved out ahead of time.) The new house is just 10 mins away, so it's a very short drive. The crew showed up exactly on time and the guys were nice. They packaged everything well and took a total of 7 hours. They made sure to put everything in the right rooms, which was great. The only hiccup was that they said they could uninstall, move, and then re-install my Ikea wardrobe. They did uninstall and move it successfully, but they broke the sliding door when they reinstalled it. I do understand that Ikea furniture isn't built to be assembled multiple times, but I expected that they could do what they said they would. If they had said no, I would have left it behind. I told the office about the broken wardrobe and the service wasn't discounted. They just apologized. So if you're thinking about moving Ikea furniture, you might check with a different company. Other than that, the move went well. read more

We hired these movers for a last minute job after our house, now a construction site, had some leakage from the rain and we needed to move our stuff out in a hurry. Pros - the guys were efficient. One was a little friendly. The estimate was very fairly priced. Cons - the other guy was not friendly. When I asked if they could do a second trip from my home to our storage unit (less than 5 miles), they said sure! At the end of the job, they upcharged EVERYTHING. The extra trip cost an additional $100 which they didn't inform me of at the time. In the quote I asked in 2 separate emails if I could write them a check to get the cash price ($15/hr cheaper than a credit card price) and no one addressed that specific question. At the end of the work, they tacked on an extra half an hour, even though the job ended at the hour mark. They didn't tell us they'd be adding on several boxes, tape, shrink wrap while the job was in process. So the original quote was about $145/hr.. it ended up at $225/hr). That being said, if another company is around $180/hr, which we received a few quotes at this price, just go with that company! You probably won't get hit with a ton of hidden fees at the end! TLDR; efficient movers, it will cost your arm and your leg. TONS of hidden fees. Don't hire. read more

Moving with Kangaroo Movers cost us nearly $19,000 due to careless handling of our belongings. The quote we received for a 2 bedroom/2 bath pack and move was $1020 - $1420 not including packing supplies We hired Kangaroo Movers based on their Yelp reviews, but there must be significant variability in crews because our experience was terrible. Almost all of our larger furniture items were significantly damaged. The movers also caused significant damage to our new home. Over the last few years we have invested in higher quality furniture and the movers were careless with our belongings. To replace all of the damage furniture, it would cost us over $16,0000. I provided a detailed spreadsheet with links to the Claims Manager. In the end, they paid us a little over $500, citing their insurance policy of $0.60 / lb of property. There is significant damage to the following items: --Dresser: Front chipped --Bed frame headboard: dirt smudges on both sides. --Couch: dirt smudges and corner busted --Bookshelf: chipped on the bottom edge --Bedside table: chipped on the side --Banister: severe scratches and chipping --Front door: 2 large scratches We pointed out these items to the moving crew. They were dismissive and flippant. Standing next to the damaged dresser, I asked: "What happened here?" One crew member responded "Are you sure that's not just paint?" I said no it's chipped and invited him to inspect it. He said "I was not the one that wrapped this dresser so I am not sure what happened" I then asked about the front door and the banister. The crew member responded "They were in the way." Finally, the quote we were provided was 2-3 times lower than the final price. The final price we were charged was $2,678 (not including the $120 fuel and reservation fee or tip to to the crew). (The company also refunded us $500 for damages) The quote we received was $1020 - $1420 not including packing supplies. I provided a detailed list of our major items and specified this was a full pack and move when asking for a quote. This is unacceptable. read more

I've used Kangaroo movers on 4 occasions and every time I'm impressed by the quality, care, and efficiency of their work. In the last month I hired them again for 2 separate jobs. One was a move where they wrapped all my items in protective wrap and got the items to a storage unit. The second time was to move a massive armoire to the top floor of a town house after the initial delivery crew were unable to figure it out. They took off the doors and removed drawer, wrapped stair rails to protect em' and got that thing up the stairs with incredible skill. Can't recommend them highly enough, a pro moving service that's 100% worth it. read more

I scheduled 2 people and the move was completed in less than 4 hours. The movers arrived on time, worked efficiently, and wrapped the furniture with care. For the most part they were careful with all my items, though at one point one of the movers did accidentally knock a box containing glass items off a stack of boxes (thankfully nothing was broken). The reason for my 3-star review is due to what I perceived as hidden costs. At the end of the move, I was charged an extra $200+ for "packaging costs." During the booking process, Kangaroo Movers states that they provide 4 wardrobe boxes, floor protection, 50 moving pads, 1 roll of shrink wrap and 1 roll of tape for free. During the course of the move, the only extra materials I saw the movers use were 2 medium cardboard boxes and 1-2 additional rolls of shrink wrap to wrap my furniture. At no point during the moving process did either of the movers give me a heads up that they would be using extra packing supplies for an added cost. I was completely taken aback when they charged this extra $200+ at the end of the move. To this day I still don't understand how a couple extra boxes and rolls of shrink wrap could add up to an additional $200+ in packaging costs. In the end I was not even given a copy of the receipt with the exact breakdown of costs. I will not be using Kangaroo Movers for my next move due to their lack of transparency on cost. read more

Cons: -30 minutes late to scheduled arrival time -Movers did NOT wear masks during COVID-19 -No introduction to myself -Additional charges for things that were not explained before hand and charged for items that were suppose to be included -Movers broke my portable mobile desk and stained our couch. We packed up and prepared all our items ahead of time to make it efficient for the movers and even helped move some items. They were very quick to unload our old apartment but took a longer time when we moved to our new apartment. I understand the hallway in the new place was long, but they did not accept our help to make it more efficient, which I understand. Customer service was not responsive to my preparedness of providing photos of our new place ahead of time so that the photos could help the movers prepare once they arrived. We also understand it was one of the hottest days of the year in Seattle, so we provided free canned drinks (La Croix) and bottled water to the movers during the whole move time. I prepaid $140 to the company prior to our move (for gas and admin fee), and then ended up paying an additional $200+ for other fees, added to the regularly planned $450 for time and labor (for $150 per hour in cash) AND paid another heft amount for tip, which was directly requested from us. So overall we paid about $800+ and I'm still trying to understand their definitions for the hourly rate of labor given a 7min drive between moves and the use of elevators in both buildings. As much as the move started out OK and efficient to begin with, we were disappointed in the end.
