I understand when a small place is busy, but the staff kept telling us they would come and take our order about 3 times before they did. Then they got our order completely wrong. The meat looked questionable, lettuce was old and brown. Clam chowder was probably the worst I've ever had. We sat in the back which faces doors in the back side of the kitchen. Best kept secret in Cannon Beach! Maybe 'cause it's not on the main drag. Best cafe food I've ever had. Robust sandwiches sure to quench your appetite, but not bog you down. Can't go wrong with any menu items. I've been there myriad of times with the fam and have had nearly all menu items. It's the way they make the food. Nothing is rocket surgery, it's just that the cook deeply cares about each and every ingredient -- from the massive, crisp bacon to the homemade aioli. The ambience is sunny and welcoming, sometimes complimented with folksy live music in the corner. The help have colorful personalities, and like to banter. The place is somewhat oblong, in that there's bigger room up front, but it narrows to a corridor with smaller tables toward the back. My guess is that are around 10-12 tables, maybe more, but also with seating for twice as many outside when it's sunny. I almost don't want to rate this place because I don't want it to become prohibitively busy, but it deserves to be shared with any and all visitors to Cannon Beach. This place is our usual go to when we're visiting Cannon Beach! The employees are always extremely friendly, even when they're swamped with customers (which happens often!). It does take a while to get your food after ordering but it's well worth the wait. They have a good amount of seating indoors and outdoors, but it does get busy often so sometimes there won't be seats available. I usually get the tomato, basil, and mozzarella (which super delicious by the way) but today I wanted to try something new so I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. This sandwich was PACKED! I hope my picture does the sandwich justice and shows just how massive it is. The flavors were great, the chicken was well cooked, the baguette was incredibly soft, and I really enjoyed the dijonaise sauce. I do however regret ordering a whole sandwich because I was STUFFED by the time I finished it. I could have easily been satisfied with just half of this sandwich. But you know when you're eating something that's just too good to save for later? Yeah, that was this sandwich for me. My husband ordered their philly, which he really enjoyed. It had a ton of grilled onions, peppers, and steak. Yum! It was a little messy to eat but aren't all good phillys messy? Went here 6/16/23 in the afternoon. This is a cute restaurant with great outdoor seating that feels very secluded from the busy tourist street. The staff was super friendly and helpful. As for the food I ordered the vegan bento and my wife ordered the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Vegan bento Was good. The rice was cooked properly which was a nice change. A lot of places will overcook the rice, but not here. Uncut full cilantro cooked with the veggies was a bit weird but if that's how they do it oh well. If I was going to order this again I would ask for more teriyaki sauce. One container just wasn't enough for the amount of rice and veggies. But delicious sauce. I would order this again. Grilled sandwich My wife said it was very dry. Looked as if the bread had been toasted then grilled. A few pieces of cheese had escaped and gotten grilled too. Normally she would like this but it seemed to turn into a rock hard piece of cheese. So not very appetizing. My wife said she would not order this again. Overall a decent experience.
