Stumbled upon this wonderful little breakfast place while on a morning walk along the promenade, north of the Worldmark Seaside Resort where we are staying. The Ocean Bakery is located inside the Best Western Inn. You would never see the cafe from any of the main streets. The breakfast options are plentiful and reasonably priced. I popped in at 9 am on a weekday and it was very quiet, possibly due to renovations going on at the Best Western. But don't let that distract you. The breakfast was great! It seems they also serve lunch and dinner. Food and drink orders are at a counter, similar to a coffee shop, and the food is brought to your table. Parking can be a bit tricky since the restaurant is located within Best Western Hotel, so you'll be hunting for parking along with guests of the hotel. Interiors is very clean, low lighting for relaxing ambiance, I sat by a fireplace, the music was not too loud, with jazz, country, alternative soft rock. I ordered Avocado Toast, and paid for a side of 2 eggs over easy. Picture of the food is posted, very presentable and delicious. Definitely a future revisit for me in Seaside. I stayed at the best western with my grandson. We stopped in the hotel cafe for a quick dinner. We had a pizza which was okay, seemed liked a premade frozen crust. They had a good selection of beverages, a nice fresh fruit cup, clean tables to dine at. We had a really sweet older gal that took good care of us, great service. We were greeted with a fairly annoyed employee (pretty common for the business it seemed) at the counter. We had never been there, didn't know the program, and have a 3 year old... But she acted as if we should know what we wanted the second we walked up to the counter. We went with breakfast sandwiches as that seemed to be a safe bet, and got a croissant for the table. The food was ok. Not good, not horrible. But for the amount of money we paid for a couple breakfast sandwiches, kids pancakes, and a croissant, I had higher expectations. We came at 11:01 am and they just stopped serving breakfast (which we mainly came for). Boo. Their lunch menu was okay, but nothing really jumped out at us since we really wanted breakfast. I do suggest trying the Caesar salad! Loved the grilled romaine lettuce and chicken strips that gave a nice char to this simple salad. Kids had the pasta and the creamy cheese coated the corkscrew noodles ever so perfectly. My daughter had a plain bagel and that's exactly what it was - plain. I was told that I had to request for cream cheese, otherwise it will not be offered. The clam chowder seemed watery. I (stupidly) ordered a Bloody Mary. I don't drink so needless to say I did not finish the drink. However, it was pretty good- it had a nice spice to it. The pickled veggies was a fancy touch. We stayed at the BW and decided to try their cafe for breakfast before checking out. We arrived about 8.30a on a Sunday morning; The cafe wasn't too busy and the staff was extremely friendly. We ordered breakfast to go. While we waited, the crew consistently cleaned the tables, chairs- made good efforts to keep the cafe clean. Breakfast was ready in 10-15 mins and we took back to our room to eat. We both got scrambled eggs; which came with bacon, toast, potatoes, plus avocado. Even a gluten free toast option which was greatly appreciated! Our breakfast was really good. They even took care to pack condiments - butter, jam, ketchup. The biscuit was not baked all the way through and was raw in the middle. The gravy was so-so. I had a double espressos that sat on the counter while others were served. She had forgot about me when a gaggle of folks came in. Always finish the job before you begin another. Then, top it off, the espresso was bitter and cold. We had our food before our beverages. When they called out for our order only the coffees were ready. A few minutes later they called out for the chai. My husband grabbed it and put a straw in it for our daughter. Before she could get a sip I noticed how dark in color it was and asked to try it first. It was definitely not chai. It had at least 2 shots of espresso. That doesn't work for a 10 year old. When we asked them what it was they barista said they didn't know. When shown the cup, they agreed it wasn't chai. Stayed at Best Western for 3 nights this past weekend and we were glad that the restaurant opened earlier than planned! We pretty much ordered something every night, which we did by room phone. Our first night we ordered the loaded nachos with chicken and a cheese pizza. The nachos were amazing! We got it again the second night. The pizza was pretty standard but tasty. The third night we had some burgers and fries, which was good. The nachos are my favorite. I also tried their fresh margarita which was excellent, just really small for $8. It was so small that we ordered 4 of them! Why? The convenience of location. The next day before checking out we got the breakfast buffet to-go, and it everything was good. Im pleased overall with my experience, but the nachos were the true gem of the menu. I think a kids menu would be nice, since a lot of families stay at the hotel. We had our 5 year old and got her chicken tenders which she sisnt like because of its size and spice level. Also, please, please, please reconsider your brownie recipe.
