We've passed many Pig N Pancake Restaurants on our travels through Oregon. But we finally decided to stop and try this one after our overnight stay in Astoria. Our server was very sweet, the place was clean and had a country feel to it. They even have a teeny little gift shop at the front and I bought a couple of birthday cards that I needed. They have a smaller bite breakfast for seniors which we got. It was two pancakes, an egg and either a piece of sausage or bacon. Everything was very good. We usually eat in mom and pop restaurants, but we would definitely consider eating at a Pig N Pancake again. It was a good experience overall. read more

This is a classic diner atmosphere with a fun theme. It also happened that I was wearing my pig t-shirt. Nice view of the Astoria-Megler bridge while you eat! Plenty of breakfast options and a good cup of coffee. I went with the black-bean cheeseburger and upgraded to the gluten free bun. The bun comes warmed in a plastic pouch, which is probably good so it doesn't dry out. While the burger patty was a bit mushy, it had a great taste. Next time I'd probably skip the bun completely. If you sit by the window you'll have a good view of ocean. You can also get some cute magnet and funny socks by the counter as souvenir. I had the grilled wild salmon for my dinner. The quality of salmon was good and fresh, the texture was firm and juicy, no extra seasoning added to it, so I can manage how much salt added myself. I added a bit of salt and it was already tasty. Those boil veggies next to salmon were surprisingly tasty too, or maybe I was just too hungry that day. Because we had a good dinner here, we decided to come back next day for breakfast. I had vegetarian omelet and my partner had blueberry pancakes. Both of dishes came with big portions. I like my omelette a lot. Topped with Swiss cheese, it was tender and fluffy. It was also my first time trying a bran muffin, it wasn't as smooth or moist as a regular one, but it came with a natural and Katy kind of sweet. First the pancakes. Six golden medallions, in appearance and in cost. But slice into the stack and see that it is fool's gold. A gilded facade gives way to a flabby undercooked disappointment. The flavor? Imagine burping after washing a cigarette down with a stale beer. That's the flavor. Now the combo. I think these eggs were still viable embryos. The potato's could still grow eyes. The toast still identified as bread. You get it. Undercooked. Our only regret is we didn't leave enough in our budget for a mood ring or greeting card at check out. read more

My girlfriend found this spot before we headed back to Seattle after another nice stay in Astoria. It's an old establishment and busy in the morning, so we decided to go get in front at the bar. As you surely know, breakfast omelettes and such come standard with a bunch of carbs. Hashbrowns, toast, and such. But here you can substitute these things for some grilled veggies. So yeah. Omelette. Grilled veggies. Coffee. Keto on the road accomplished. For this I am grateful. Maybe its the pancakes that take it over the top for some folks, and for which I'd add another star. I suppose you knew there was a but coming. We were near the bathrooms and there was apparently some issue with the floor being sticky. Not only did they completely shut down the bathroom, deny a customer who had to really go but they kept gossiping about it and being dramatic. The staff is very young and that was likely the cause but honestly we got annoyed by them. The floor was not sticky.. I would know I went before they shut it down and their closing and mopping did nothing. With how close the customers are to the serve area staff needs to remember to be quiet when talking or maybe wait tell they are out of the building if your going to vent. I ordered the Hot Chocolate with Veggie Omelet and a side of blueberry pancakes. My hubby decided on scrambled eggs, links and original pancakes. The eggs and veggies were fresh, pancakes were soft and fluffy. They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it is. We came in on a Saturday morning at 9:30 AM-it was packed, but we were able to be seated right away. Their menu had plenty of options to choose from! I ended up picking the Denver omelette with no tomato or cheese. The omelette was fantastic-whatever bacon they used was smoky, and the vegetables were fresh. I didn't get more pictures of the omelette because it was too good to stop. Their server was friendly, and the service was fast-we were able to eat our meal and be on our way in 45 minutes!
