Great space that has both indoor and outdoor seating and lots to look inside with some gifts and cold food/drinks (ice cream, small friesge with other beverages) along with their cafe items. The baked cheddar biscuit and scones seem to be a newer items and they were warm and good, paired nicely with our drinks. Got a latte with whole milk which was decent and a chai, there was no chai flavor except at the end which was unfortunate. For a quick stop to walk to the beach, it kept us warm and fed

I love this place! It has a cute coffee bar and makes the best chai tea latte! There is a cute little table and sofa area where you can hang out and enjoy your coffee. There is also an amazing variety of goodies that you can buy, from unique jewelry pieces to puzzles and games to organic soaps to llama baby gifts. There is also an assortment of treats and sweets at the counter. I've been to this shop a couple times now and the owner is super sweet and friendly. Not sure how to describe it but I just get such a great vibe every time I walk in.

I can't believe this place has no reviews! I'm honored and pleased to write the first. I'm staying in Gearhart for the weekend and I wandered downtown my first morning here. Downtown Gearhart consists of pretty much a single intersection flanked by a half dozen small businesses. At first I headed to the much touted bakery across the corner but I was alarmed at the long line and tight squeeze so I turned around and headed for the beach. I spotted By the Way and although they have a sign outside declaring the availability of espresso, I thought it would just be a single small machine tucked in amongst the bric-a-brac. Not so! The entire front third or so of the space is a cozy and welcoming cafe with a full coffee menu and a handful of nibbles on offer, with seating for about a dozen people and a little sofa. The rest of the space is devoted to all the sorts of things you'd expect to find in a coastal gift and decor shop, plus a surprisingly broad selection of Melissa & Doug products and a small but beautiful stash of yarn! Oh, yarn! The only thing I love more than coffee. Well, as much as coffee, anyway. Linda, the owner, was very friendly and engaging and made me an excellent americano. She is clearly well liked, as several local friends (I presume) filtered in and out to chat with her while I was there. She and her establishment are also enthusiastically dog-friendly, which will strongly recommend anyone to me. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed in the offerings of downtown Gearhart until I found By The Way. It's charming, colorful, clean, and bright, and I immensely enjoyed knitting and sipping on the couch while watching Saturday morning unfurl around me.

Great coffee and pastries. Good selection of cards and gifts. Located conveniently in the center of Gearhart and next to the Post Office.

This shop doesn't have much of--or honestly, any that I could find--online presence, which seems odd but hopefully this will help spread the word. They have a lot of soaps--a significant amount of space in the store is dedicated to their French soap bar. Bar or liquid soap in a dizzying amount of scents. There are candles from the same brand. They have housewares, like decorate items, storage vessels, placemats, and so on. There is artwork for sale--just look up so you don't miss it! They have cards, and books... and then other little nicknacks hidden around the store as well. I bought as a gift for a friend a sand dollar from a fairly local artist, who with her niece decorates sand dollars they've collected on their trips to the beach. It's worth noting that the store is not accessible, as there's a step up and so folks in wheelchairs won't be able to enter. The employee (owner?) was friendly. Not a lot of parking right near the store (perhaps a bit on the street) but there's a public lot a couple blocks away, since this is the main shopping and tourist area in Seaside.

I reached out to The Natural Nook and spoke with Connie. I explained this to her and she put together the most beautiful arrangement incorporating pumpkins and beautiful fall flowers. The arrangement is spot on and is absolutely beautiful! My daughter called me and was so thrilled to receive this stunning arrangement with pumpkins in it! Connie took our conversation to heart and I can't say enough! The Natural Nook is highly recommended! Connie certainly understood the importance of my request. Thank you Connie!

My boyfriend lives out of state and ordered, online, what he said would 'knock my socks off'. He assured me for the money he spent I should be prepared to be swept away. He was right. I was swept away in disbelief at the lack of quality in the flowers, balloons and candies delivered from Natural Nook. I received the 'lack lustre' flowers which was odd to begin with and horrible as far as quality. It had 7, yes 7, older, opened and already dropping red roses and filler carnations. Not big, full, fluffy carnations but tiny ones added last minute to cheap bouquets. Which is what this was. 7 roses and cheap filler carnations? What is the specific name of that bouquet? But wait,,,,,,,, Next came the childish balloons that were tied to the vase. Not only were they colors you might send to 6 year olds birthday party but they were not tightly filled, bouncy or new looking. FYI, Some balloons are stored with a sort of powder so they do not stick together. This was not powder but actual dust!!! Dust!!! I included a photo or two after I dragged my fingers across them. And within 12 hours were deflated and not due to hot or cold temps but because they were so old! As though they had been in a shop window display WAY too long. And to add insult they delivered a box of candy from Bruce's Candy Kitchen in Cannon Beach that had old, broken, discolored chocolates. I looked on the box to check the expired date but it did not have a date stamp! I assume it is because the candy was made before expiration dates were required on food. I have been a customer of Bruce's for 30 years and have never seen broken or discolored product offered in their store. The only reason this florist received 1 star is for the Teddy Bear that was included with the other items was not old, dusty or outdated. When I contacted my boyfriend and told him how awful this delivery was he called them to talk about the problems after seeing the evidence through the pictures. The woman he spoke with said to be sure and tell me how sorry they were but no corrected order. No dozen roses minus filler carnations, fresh candy or at least new balloons??? C'mon. You're sorry? I think my boyfriend is sorry for ordering from them and I will NEVER use them to convey how much I care for someone. Natural Nook obviously cares nothing for quality OR customer service. They could have driven to Safeway and bought the $14.99 long stem roses and added their own vase and baby's breath as an apology. Or a gift certificate for Bruce's Candy Kitchen. Or a dozen NEW balloons. All of those options would have shown some level of care for me as a customer. I have included photos of the absolute horror of a disastrous delivery.

Shorelines NW manages to be a touristy shop while providing a much better customer experience. The store is very large and well lit, the aisles are wide so you can wander and linger without feeling like you are stuck in an elevator with tons of people. Items are organized so if you aren't interested in children's toys you don't even have to walk to that area of the store. Interested in shells? Against the side wall are bins filled with shells of various shapes, types and colors. There is plenty of room to take it all in and make your selections. My grandmother always collected small shells and made jewelry with them so I spent a lot of time in this area and was happy to have the section all to myself! Of course they have the obligatory tie-dye which somehow has become synonymous with the beach, but their offerings were a step above other tie dye sweatshirts I've seen. The light blue & white was particularly nice, subtle, not too in your face. Mermaids and the beach also go hand & hand and at Shoreline, there are Mermaids of every skin tone and hair color so little girls can see themselves. Well done! They have a nice selection of affordable fashion jewelry, some in sterling, and of course many feature shells, sand dollars, flip-flops and other beachy items. Even though I'm not a tourist, I enjoy walking through the shop and looking at all of the offerings, often making a purchase.
