The pastries were absolutely incredible! You can tell there's real talent behind the baking, and I'd happily come back just for the pastries. The only thing that kept this from being a five star experience was a customer service. The staff wasn't very welcoming or engaging, which made the visit feel less inviting than it could have been. Nobody spoke or smiled. I just rattled off my order, they flipped over the iPad for payment, not even a thank you for leaving a tip. It wasn't even that busy when we walked in. While exploring the town we stopped at Canon Beach bakery. We got a Spinach quiche, Ham & Cheese quiche, and Coconut Macaroons. We liked the Macaroon, both our quiche's were good. Food is always spot on. I haven't had anything there that was one of the best that I've had. Might be a little expensive but at least it's always exceptional. They actually seem very indifferent towards customers. They even appeared a bit moody. You should really consider further training or speak to your staff about providing better customer service. I ordered the breakfast sandwich needed something not so sweet. I'm pretty sure it's premade and microwaved, meh. It hit the spot before a day on the beach, but I wouldn't get it again. The employee I encountered was extremely rude and condescending in every way possible. Picking up food or ordering food seemed like an inconvenience to her. Everything from her tone, to eye rolls to lack of eye contact made me question whether I was actually a customer or intruding in her home. Now seeing other reviews I'm seeing this is a common pattern and I'm shocked that after all these negative reviews she wouldn't take measures to correct her attitude. We stopped in on an early Monday afternoon in early May to get a couple sandwiches (a turkey and a beef--both huge) and some baked sweets to take. Got a couple "sailor jacks" (glazed cupcake/muffin things), a macaroon, a glazed old-fashion apple cider donut, and an apple fritter. nom nom nom. Asked to use a bathroom (old lady, 2-hour car-drive) and was directed to the public restrooms a couple blocks away. Oh well, at least I made it in time! Sadly a very sad experience with the owner who was working when we stopped in. She was scolding an employee as the line was waiting (not cool), handed us someone else's order, and snapped at us that "you'll need to just wait while I sort her mess out!" when we advised her she given us someone else's bag. We just died for the poor employee, and promptly left (without asking for a refund) and went to a lovely place called Insomnia just down the street around the corner. The Marionberry scone was decent but a teeny but dry. Also the ratio of scone thickness to toppings was a little off. Because it was fairy thick, I felt like it needed more Marionberries or a more saturated Marionberry drizzle on top. When I think flavored scones, I imagine getting that flavor in every bite which didn't happen with this one. Tons of options though and worth stopping in! The bakery selection was vast (good--it's a bakery!) and the donuts got 5 stars from my kids. They have some seasonal varieties of apple cider donuts and the bakery breads they're known for. They also had some savory breads. I checked in on Yelp and got a free 16oz drip coffee. It was solid but no frills. They had some cakes in the display case as well if you have an occasion to celebrate. I remembered going here last year and being blown away by their marionberry desserts, so made a point to stop here during our visit this year. While their treat tastiness excels, their service is severely lacking. Both days we were here right when they opened and the lady at the cash register (unsure if the owner or just an employee) was extremely unfriendly and pushy, rushing us even though were were the first ones in line and needed a minute to decide on what we wanted. Their marionberry scones are expensive but truly delicious. We also enjoyed their marionberry turnovers, especially warmed up at our house with some ice cream. I wasn't impressed with their oat milk latte as it was just lacking flavor, so I wouldn't order coffee here again. Looking at many other reviews it appears their strong suit isn't service, and I guess they can get by with it being one of the only bakeries in town and always having a line. However, after trying Lazy Susan, I may have to stick with them next time as their marionberry scone was just as delicious and the service was better. TL;DR - If you don't mind poor service, this place has great baked goods. However, if you're looking for friendlier service, I'd definitely look elsewhere. Decently expensive as well. read more

They understand how to combine flour, water, yeast and salt with other ingredients to create the kind of items you might expect at a place that calls themselves a bakery. The apple cinnamon twist bread was the hands down favorite. Moist, tender, flavorful. It's really delicate, don't even think about putting it in a regular toaster. The bear claw and Marion Berry pastries were all good. While they are honest pastries in the sense that they have multiple layers of dough, they were not as flakey or moist as the big box pastry I got the same day. The filling was good and authentic however it did not feature any whole pieces of fruit that the big box place did. While not a surprise, two pastries from here cost more than 8 from the other place. When I go back, I'll skip the pastries and try both the plain and ham and cheese croissants that looked mighty good. read more
