Wow. I'm in love with this place. Who would have thought that there would be such a great chocolate shop at the beach!? They offer milkshakes, coffee, and, of course, many thing chocolate. We went with the Raspberry Chocolate Mocha Milkshake which was their milkshake of the month and an order of the Spoon Chocolate. The Milkshake was so tasty! It's definitely more of a sundae/blizzard because of how thick it is but flavors were great and not too sweet at all. The Spoon Chocolate was also very unique. It's a 4oz cup of thick pudding-y dark chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream. I love how dark the chocolate was, you can taste a bit of fruity flavor in it. Love this cafe! I have had their chocolate chip cookie which tasted fresh, on top of their brownie which was very chocolatey. However, both of these foods tasted great because they were warm. The Chocolate Cafe should package their brownies in microwave safe paper bags, just like their chocolate chip cookie. Very cool place for a sweet snack. Stopped by the other morning, wow they have quite a selection of chocolate stuff! I opted for a chocolate croissant and a mocha, and my wife had a macaroon (see photo below). The were both excellent. The croissant was very light and flaky, of course stuffed with superb chocolate. The macaroon was flavorful and moist. My mocha was superb, not the best I've ever had but it ranks up there. Love their (limited) outdoor seating - nice place to have a snack and watch people go by. We wandered into the Chocolate Cafe while visiting Cannon Beach. They make their truffles in their shop and there are a lot of truffle flavors to choose from. They are $3 each, which adds up quickly. We tried the s'mores, cookies and cream, raspberry, espresso, dark chocolate, s'mores, and peanut butter truffles. My favorite was the dark chocolate and it had a rich dark chocolate ganache on the inside. I liked the other flavors, but felt like they were a little overpriced. We also tried the dark chocolate seafoam (honeycomb). It was super sticky and hard to chew. The dark chocolate had good flavor, but the honeycomb texture was not good. The star of the show is the milkshakes at Chocolate Cafe. We had the legendary chocolate milkshake and it was amazing. It was thick, creamy, rich, and chocolately! We also happened to buy during happy hour so it was $1 off of milkshakes. I highly recommend the milkshakes here! One of the best I've had! read more

This was the cutest little spot! It made me so happy to just step foot in the chocolate cafe. I ordered a hot fudge sundae milkshake and a chocolate peanut butter milkshake and they were both great! They weren't too sweet which was amazing. I really loved the little chunks of chocolate I would get with each sip. The shakes were just a little too thick for me personally. The shop is small but filled, and I mean filled, with chocolates! Everything is thoughtfully displayed, each vignette so beautiful. The day I was there, Frank Sinatra was playing on the turntable creating a really nice vibe. While they were making my hot Mocha on a typical rainy day at the beach, I perused the counter and was thrilled to see lots of dark chocolate options. When I was younger, I was a milk chocolate only fan, but tastes and taste buds change, and I can no longer eat milk chocolate, it's just too sweet for me. Selected two dark chocolate covered homemade marshmallows and later that night when I ate one, I immediately wished I had bought a half dozen! OMG, they were the best dark chocolate covered marshmallows that I ever had and it's my signature selection. I'm going to call the shop and ask which Portland Chocolatier made them so I can buy them locally. Also bought dark chocolate pecan turtles, dark chocolate sea salt caramels, and dark chocolate toffee. All were exceptional. They do offer a small selection of sandwiches and salads, and during these Covid days there are a few tables outside. I was there for the chocolate! Oh, and the mocha was delicious, made with their own chocolate and you CAN taste the difference. Spent time chatting with the owner who was so friendly, helpful and provided details on the chocolates i was considering. Chocolate Cafe will be a permanent stop whenever I'm in Cannon Beach and will also be the last place I visit on my way out of town so I can bring treats home! read more

What a find! The gigantic chocolate covered marshmallow is a good buy and a fantastic after lunch/dessert. It's big enough to share with 2 people but you may not want to. The marshmallow is fresh and handmade. There were also several handmade chocolate candy confections for purchase but I was too stuffed from the marshmallow. Drove out to Cannon Beach to visit a dear friend who I've known since we were both young. Stopped in for a cuppa hot chocolate and some butter crunch to go. The dark hot chocolate is to die for. Rich, chocolaty chocolate. Perfect on a sunny but blustery, windy day. Sweets are rarely on the menu anymore but if I'm going to take a hit of sugar it needs to be in something that is REALLY good. This is more of a hot chocolate place than a chocolates place and there are several confectioners in CB that have a much better selection. We spent the afternoon in quaint little Cannon Beach and happened upon the cafe, and boy are we glad we did. There are plenty of things to chose from ... both edible and drinkable. Two glass cases filled with sweet treats and small yet delicious drink menu. My wife had a hot chocolate and I had my favorite, a mocha! To eat we shared a shortbread cookie half dipped in chocolate and a double chocolate chip cookie. They were so rich and satisfying that we couldn't finish them. Between the 5 of us, we had a delightful chocolate feast! It's a small menu and finger foods like sandwiches/salads aren't offered. There's only room for dessert! The 70% Colombian house chocolate is used for the dark hot chocolate. I appreciate how it's not too sweet. Highly recommend getting it as is with whole milk rather than substituting it with almond milk, which adds a nutty flavor and doesn't mix well with the chocolate. The 1 ounce Spoon of Chocolate is very rich and decadent and prefer the classic hot chocolate. The Truffles are delicious and thoroughly enjoyed the Raspberry Puree truffle. The cafe is quite cozy with small tables of 2, so don't recommend groups. There's no patio seating and can't bring your pup. Nice cozy cafe that will satisfy your chocolate indulgence! read more

We've tried a few things here from the cookies to the chocolates and everything is yummy, but I come for the hot chocolate. You can get regular milk chocolate hot chocolate but I always get either the dark hot chocolate or the Aztec hot chocolate. The Aztec definitely has a kick. I went to Paris almost 20 years ago and still remember being blown away by how decadent their hot chocolate was. I hadn't ever had anything like it before or since that trip - until finding it here. It is simply the best. It's thick and rich and super chocolatey without being too sweet. I've been known to have more than one a day in the damp winter months. I want one right now just thinking about it! The only bummer for me (aside from being an hour and a half away) is that they don't open until 10, even in the summer tourist season and even on weekends. I'm not a coffee drinker so it would be nice if they opened earlier and I could get my cocoa while my friends are getting their coffees for our morning walks on the beach. read more

There's a lot to love here, and all of it is chocolate! We stopped in for a couple of spicy hot chocolates (which they call Mayan Hot Chocolates), and indulged in some truffles while we waited. There are so many beautiful truffles to choose from, but we like white chocolate, so we had a birthday cake truffle and a fruity pebble truffle (among others). Delicious! The Mayan hot chocolates were good, but unfortunately some of the spice wasn't thoroughly mixed in so we each got unexpected mouthfuls of fire! Yikes! It's a small shop. There is a little bit of patio seating, but that's it, so don't plan on staying too long. Still, the assortment of truffles is amazing, and there's a wall of unique chocolate bars as well.
