We loved this place! We sat on the deck, which was right on the water and filled with flowering plants. We had a pizza and a couple beers. The pizza was really good. Kind of Neapolitan style with a bit thicker crust. The 14-inch was too much for one big eater and one light eater. read more

For Father's day, we were near Manzanita on the Oregon Coast. Not a lot of choices for a good sit-down meal but this is a decent one. Big note! Check hours even on weekends, cuz many places close before 6 pm, but thankfully Mama Mia's closes at 8 or 9. Entrees ranged from $20 to $40, which might seem pricey but this is a tourist & seafood area. Most items were successful with the Italian selections being the best (e.g., meatballs, lasagne) & the seafood being meh. Service was slow but attentive and location was nicely situated along the riverfront. Desserts looked & smelled great but we were stuffed so we didn't partake. Dining area isn't large so on busy weekends, be prepared to wait for a table & your food. read more

We have been here a few times and the food is very consistent. It is always served hot and is fairly authentic. I have tried their specials as well as their lasagna. Th lasagna is flavorful and has a lot of cheese which I appreciate. The service has always been good and they have a great selection of drinks you can order. Pizza was pretty good....7.8. The bread sticks were pretty much double the price to add cheese on top, could have done that at home. Also, automatically added gratuity on our to go order. Wasn't told about this so it was kind of a what the hell moment. We would have tipped but adding it and not telling us kinda sucks. Staff was super friendly, beautiful location and food was solid. My friends and I went to Mamma Mia's last . Oh my gosh, the food was fantastic, the service was great and the setting was beautiful along the Nehalem river. We had Vegie pizza, , crabcake special, lasagna with breadsticks. For dessert, we shared the sizzling apple pie with four spoons. definitely will be back with more friends. read more

We tried this spot on a reccomendation and so glad we tried it! Nice little location with a small patio for outdoor seating facing an inlet or something. Full bar and the French martini & strawberry Mojito were excellent! There were 4 adults & 1 child We all enjoyed our food, the breadsticks were warm and tasty. The Bolognese was very good as were the spaghetti, Pomodoro & the pepperoni pizza. I was disappointed that the spaghetti puttanesca was not on the menu anymore but we all enjoyed the meal and the staff were attentive & friendly. Where do I start, this was a gem in Nehalem, Mama Mía , has a great outdoor patio that sits next to the river. Great view, even better food. We ordered a pizza and salad. The Pizza was the star, lots of veggies and meat, nice red sauce and a buttery crust. The Ceasar salads were ok. The drinks were great and the staff was Super friendly. They have a nice variety of Italian food, the portions looked ample. They have a nice wine list as well. I will be visiting this great spot again. read more

The staff were great as we called in a sizable order an hour or so before closing. The food was all accounted for and warm at pick up, but a few items were not as expected. We added chicken to a pasta dish and it was clearly a roasted chicken breast, perhaps seasoned for another dish, sliced into large ovals and haphazardly tossed into the pasta after the fact. It was not mixed in with the dish and ended up getting removed. The cheese pizza was also a disappointment. I have high standards for pizza (admittedly), but this fell below everyone in the group's expectations. The portion sizes were good for the pasta dishes but the salads were a bit small. The highlights were the salads, fresh, good dressing, nice combination of flavors for both. The pasta was cooked fairly well and came in a larger than expected portion size given the container. Overall, not many options in the area so Mamma's likely stays in the rotation for another visit or two, but we might try dining in next time to see if that changes our assessment. read more

Paid 55 bucks for pizza and meat balls . Meat balls not bad but 14 dollars for 2 meats balls seems like a rip off to me . I asked for a medium pizza was charged for a large that was 32 bucks . The weekend where nearly nothing and yet things worked out better than if it had been planned. The list is long but it's summed up best by saying this trip in large part was centered around a specific restaurant I've been wanting to eat at for a couple years. Turns out they're closed...perhaps indefinitely. Had to call audible and ended up at Mama Mia's in Nehalem. At this point so many things had gone sideways so I was over the moon when Debby, the owner greeted me personally. After an amusing conversation, mid-beer no less she told me that I needed to go a few doors down to Buttercup for some of their homemade ice cream. Before I could protest she said that she would hold the ice cream in her freezer until the meal was over, so ice cream I did procure. I got a Vietnamese Coffee and a Pineapple Allspice...which were amazing. Essentially everything great you enjoy about homemade with really delicious and interesting flavors. Side note, forgot to mention I'd forgotten my glasses which makes menus fun so Debby offered me her own pair, hence the stylish selfie in stylish pink frames. When I get back to Mamas there is a custom app waiting at my place because Debby is an amazing chef. Not only was it fantastic, but she knew it was needed which shows how much she cares. I wish I got pictures of her spinach and herb lasagna because it was the best lasagna since I was last in Italy. In fact, lasagna isn't a favorite of mine but this was money. Finally, Debby gave solid breakfast recommendations for the next morning. One was Wanda's and the she said we also needed to check out Yolk just up the road because they had the best French toast. I consider myself a French Toast snob and theirs belongs on the Mt Rushmore. It has this sweet and crunchy exterior with the custard rich soft interior. I've never felt more overlooked in a restaurant. While other tables around us were getting attentive service and their food in a reasonable amount of time, we waited almost an hour just to get our food. No food sense of urgency from the staff whatsoever. To make it worse, the food wasn't even worth the wait. It was average at best. The only thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere, but that doesn't make up for being blatantly ignored while other customers were clearly prioritized. It was frustrating, disappointing, and frankly, unacceptable. I won't be back--and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values their time or expects basic customer service. read more

Lovely little Italian restaurant located on the Nehalem River. Food was good, but not spectacular as there were whole garlic cloves in the seafood pasta sauce. The smell of my daughter in law's marinara sauce made me wish I had ordered something with that in it. Beautiful and serene view from the outdoor eating area/deck. I recently placed my first order with this restaurant and, unfortunately, the experience wasn't as smooth as I had hoped. The staff member taking my order over the phone seemed somewhat dismissive when I asked questions, which made the ordering process feel less welcoming. Upon arriving to pick up my order, I was surprised to learn that a 20% tip was automatically added for phone orders something that wasn't mentioned on their website or during the ordering process. Clear communication about policies like this would go a long way in ensuring a more positive customer experience. While I appreciate good food and supporting local businesses, transparent and friendly service makes all the difference. Hopefully, these concerns can be addressed to improve future interactions. read more

There is a new pizza shop in Nehalem! They have located in the old Pizza Garden space that has been mostly closed since the pandemic, We didn't have the pizza yet but ate lasagna. My wife had the veggie and I had the regular with a red meat sauce. The veggie was a bit bland, it was made with a bechemel sauce and ricotta but needed a little zazz. Mine was really tasty. She can make a ice tomato sauce. Everything is home made, including the pasta. The nice lady working the kitchen is from Italy and went to school there for cooking. The menu is limited to a few pizzas, several pasta dishes, some appetizers, and salads. The place is cozy inside with plenty of seating. There's a bar but they don't have a wine license yet. There is a nice deck outside overlooking the Nehalem River for times when the weather allows. There is also a takeout window for food just as you walk in the door. I will go back to try the pizza next and can't wait to try it. read more

Not a huge menu but excellent variety of dishes. For a Thursday night, it was extremely busy but all were seated and served timely. The back windows overlooking the bay was fantastic. Definitely we will be back and try more dishes. We shared the large pepperoni pizza- yumm. read more

I am giving this place a 1 star for several reasons. We have eaten here previously and the food was decent. However, we literally were treated SO rudely I would be hard pressed to ever return. We were told we would be seated and as we being shown to our seat, the manager told us they were closed. No apology and seriously rude. She told us the lights were off (they were not) and that we should have known. She seemed somewhat angry or annoyed as well. The hostess was kind and seemed uncomfortable regarding the situation. Nevertheless, if this is how they treat diners I can't imagine what would happen if there were any issues with the food. Go to Marzanos and take it home. read more

What a great find! We were staying in Nehalem on a weekend getaway and stopped in to Mama Mia's for dinner. We had pizzas (one cheese, one Mama Mia) and both were delicious. The beet salad was large with plenty of beets and a tangy and balanced Italian dressing. We couldn't say no to the skillet apple pie after seeing other Yelpers rave about it and it did not disappoint. The pie is homemade and would be wonderful on it's own, but then it gets griddled in the pizza oven and covered with a homemade caramel sauce and ice cream and comes out sizzling on a cast iron platter! My son, who doesn't really like pie, took a bite mostly for the ice cream and then said how good the pie was (and went back for many more bites!) The restaurant has a fresh and modern feel and a spacious deck where you can dine overlooking the water. Service was attentive and warm, and the prices are reasonable considering everything you're getting is scratch made with love and pride by those whose work there. I wish I could have tried the lasagna or pasta because I saw them coming out of the kitchen for other tables and they looked fabulous! I guess that's something to look forward to on my next trip here. read more

Very disappointed by overcooked pasta, mushy crabcakes, bland Bolognese sauce and very mediocre Caeser's salad. Maybe we had this experience because of being one of the last tables of the evening. Stopped here for dinner while driving along the Oregon coast on vacation. The reviews and menu looked alright, so I was really surprised by what a mediocre experience we got. The service was really slow despite the restaurant being less than halfway full. They didn't even notice we were in the waiting area for a few minutes so we had to start wandering through the restaurant to find someone who could seat us. We started with cheesy breadsticks, which tasted good, but it would have been nice for the menu or server to note that all the pasta dishes come with regular breadsticks. The mushroom ravioli special was clearly just made using premade refrigerated ravioli and jarred marinara from a grocery store without any seasoning or improvements besides adding mushroom slices on top. The bolognese actually seemed to be homemade but tasted pretty bland. We still hadn't received the check half an hour after finishing our dinner, so we had to flag a waiter down for it. The receipt wasn't very clear - it just listed each item as the code its under in their POS machine - but it appeared that we were overcharged for our breadsticks. Considering how long the service took all night, we didn't even bother to ask the waiter if the check was correct because it would have amounted to being at the restaurant for about 2 1/2 hours. The check came out to about $75 before tip, which is about what we would have spent at fine dining in our hometown. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the view was great and we saw a bald eagle. read more
