Pretty good pizza, all considered. Location is fabulous - right on the water and with gorgeous view. Eating on the desk is something special. Service is one person or two flying around all the tables. They try their best. Prices are reasonable considering the location and the scarcity of other solid options around. The offering isn't huge but it satisfy the preferences of many. Overall a great restaurant
A nice riverside restaurant. We were greeted when we arrived and seated outside right near the river. I tried something new for me and got the Housemade Horchata slushy. A very delicious drink and my wife got the Great Nation Root Beer something she usually doesn't order either. We didn't get any starters but we did order Cioppino which tasted great with the crab meat, shrimp and mussels. We also ordered a Margherita Pizza. A great pizza with that fresh herb on top. Overall a very pleasant experience at this dining establishment.
I was so excited to finally try the Salmonberry. The Caesar salad was probably the best one we've ever had. Perfectly dressed and so tasty. The carrots were a bit undercooked but had good potential. I loved the broth they used for the steamer clams but almost half of the order didn't open and one was full of sand, I was so disappointed. We had excellent cocktails and excellent service!
The newly reopened SB functions just like any other restaurant now, table service with servers and all that. Still no reservations so be ready for that. We showed up at 530 on a Friday and sat out front which was glorious. Started with the quinoa kale salad which SHOWED UP, even my vegetable hating 7yo had seconds. Shishito peppers were literally fire and I'm still eating leftovers as the portion was crazy big. One of each of the pizzas, thin and thick and my favorite was the SHROOMS pizza, fresh and just so tasty. Admittedly I do miss the old order at the front, seat yourself, get your own water vibes but I'm betting I'm probably in the minority on these feels.
What a lovely and delicious dinner we had! I will be dreaming of our bubbly crust pizza, lemony light possets, and brilliant view for a long time. If I lived here, I'd put this place on my weekly rotation. Even my 7 year old loved everything - including the salad, which was surprising. A no brainer. Just go!
We had headed to Garibaldi to see my parents for the holiday weekend and after seeing The Salmonberry on Instagram I wanted to try it we arrived at 4:30 just after they opened and they were already packed. We were able to get a table in the bar by the window with a gorgeous view of the bay. We were a party of 4 and we ordered the Brussel sprouts and two pizzas. The Smith and the BBQ. We received our brussel Sprouts which was a good serving for 4 people and most of them were hard and not cooked enough. We didn't say anything about them and but shortly after we received the first order they brought us another order of them on the house. The second order was much better cooked. We waited two hours for our pizzas. The staff felt horrible about the backup as apparently the wood fired oven can only cook 2 to 3 pizzas at a time and they definitely weren't prepared for a busy holiday weekend. They definitely have some kinks to work out. We received our pizzas and I was disappointed, they did have good flavor but the crust was really thin in the middle (I actually love thin crust NY style pizza) and for $27 each for a 12" pizza that was minimal toppings on them. I think they have the ability to be a great place to go when you're on the coast but I sadly don't see them drawing in the locals on a regular basis as these prices. The manager/owner did feel really bad about our wait and took one of the pizzas off our bill which was a nice gesture. I was so excited to try them but I don't think we will go back.
Based off our experience. We waited about 40 ish minutes. They quoted it at 30 minutes. We have gotten pizza here for take out. The deep dish isn't for us. It's too much bread. The other pizza was ok. So, this time we dined in and tried the salmon. That was delicious. We didn't care for the sides it came with, but salmon was very good. We also had the pork schnitzel. Didn't know what that was. It was like a breaded cutlet, basically. Not bad, but not amazing either. They were very busy for winter break. We had to wait a bit for water, drinks, etc. They seemed under staffed. They did their best under the circumstances. Very nice people. Give them a try and you decide.
This is my first review ever. I just read the review saying never go here and I must disagree. Wheeler is a small coastal town and servers are hard to come by. If you're visiting the coast try to understand this isn't the city. Some people work extra serving positions just to help small businesses out during tourist season. The food is amazing and the magical use of local in season vegetables impressed me with new takes on nutrition. Last night around 7:30pm the place was still busy, they close at 8pm. They did seat us on the deck and we were served an incredible Cioppino with Furikake (Japanese seasoning) and katsuobushi, thinly sliced skipjack tuna. It was perfection. I've lived in Seattle for 40 years and never had such delicious and flavorful Cioppino. The wings were great as well with a touch of spice. The salads here are amazing and definitely enough for 2 people. Lastly, be kind kids... we never know when it's our last meal.
Open Again!! Pizza only this time, but don't let that stop you. The pizza game is on POINT We opted for the 10x14 sheet pan pizza, with Cupping Pepperoni This place is on the way from here to there, don't make a mistake and pass on by;) The view of the bay is the chefs kiss here
My boyfriend and I haven't stopped raving about this restaurant. We were in town on vacation and I stumbled across this online. The food - incredible. The views - picturesque. The service - stellar and impeccable. I still dream of this restaurant and I know it is first on my list to return back to when I find myself in Manzanita again.
Too many people had the same idea for dinner...but the staff was hustling to get people seated and fed. We shifted plans and put the dogs in the car so we could get a seat faster inside. The food was great. We had the meatballs...asparagus and a beet salad...yum.

On our recent trip to Oregon we spent a couple nights in Wheeler (Wheeler on the Bay Lodge was a fantastic place to stay.). Salmonberry was an easy walk from the Lodge. It has limited hours however, so make sure you check before you head over. They opened at 4pm the day we decided to visit, and we headed over to be there when they opened. I'd also read about the train from Rockaway Beach and that many taking the train would dine at the Salmonberry so we wanted to beat the crowd. We sat on the outside deck so we could enjoy the great view. There was some off and on rain, but the umbrellas, and hints from the hostess, kept us completely dry. The food! Fantastic! We had both the cioppino and one of the pizzas. Both were excellent. It's clear that everything was very fresh. I wish we'd been able to dine there more than once. Service was excellent! So friendly, warm and welcoming. read more

Showed up right when they opened. Got great service and our waiter was delightful. Super nice guy had a good conversation with him and got great service from multiple people. They got us a dog bowl for water as we were sitting out on the patio. The food was great! Really good presentation as well as good flavors. We got the pepperoni pizza (the honey on this was delicious!), the caesar and beet salads. Plus the meatballs. They were all good portions and delicious! It was also a great view of the river out on the patio with umbrellas for shade. Would go again and recommend to anyone based on my experience. read more

Outstanding service, incredible food and gorgeous ambiance! We got the carrots for an appetizer and they were amazing and then we got the meat pizza with hot honey which was just the best!! Highly recommend this place! Our night was magical thanks to the food and the view! read more
Amazing little place in the tiny town of Wheeler. I'm not sure what's better, the food or the view? Let's not forget the cocktails. It's a casual place, order at the counter and they will give you a number. Then you grab your utensils and water etc. They will find you and bring out your food/ drinks. Service was super friendly. Everything we tried was amazing. We had some oysters (delish) , meatball appetizer, the mushroom pizza, meatball pizza and a pasta that had shrimp. We also indulged in a few cocktails which were also very well made. Prices were not inexpensive but warranted for the quality of food & also the portions were not small. I'm always looking for another reason to drive to the coast, & going to the Salmonberry is now another I can add to the list. read more
Get here!! Fresh and local delicious food. You order before you find a place to sit. Most tables outside are communal sitting, so you get to meet new friends while you dine. We actually shared food with others at our table. Pries are on the higher side, but I don't mind paying for FRESH LOCAL DELICIOUSNESS. Staff is assertive and friendly. Only open 4-8, we got there at 530 and waited in line to order. Line moves fast. Wheeler is a very small town so parking can be a challenge. I look forward to going back and trying more items. read more

Highly recommended. Super great view of the bay, delicious pizza and meatballs we tried. Will definitely be coming back. Really cute bar too. read more
The Salmonberry is an amazing (hyper local) restaurant and experience, we can't wait to come back. The fresh pasta's texture was phenomenal and the clams were garlicky and rich. The meatballs were rich/cheesy, with a little acid from the tomato sauce and had a side of polenta. The arancini were perfectly crispy on the outside and cheesy/mushroomy on the inside. The servers were very knowledgeable and kind. The food came out within 5-10 minutes since we came a little after opening and beat the crowds. We will 100% be back soon. read more

This felt so quintessentially Oregon to me. You are situated on the water with large windows observing the sunset with Neahkanie mountain, and then BOOM! A plate of wood fire roasted vegetables lands before you. We had the trio of mushrooms and I found it most enjoyable. What stands out to me about this restaurant is it lets the simple, local, ingredients do the talking. And then the Detroit style pizza! We had the GF pizza because everyone was ordering the Detroit style and they ran out; but honestly, what's the difference? I know this review may seem grandiose, but I dare you to find me a better gf pizza. You won't. You can't! Personable service. Local ingredients. Beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. Look at these pics. It's one of those places you can feel the thoughtfulness, intentionality, care, and sense of home through the food. Also, wine was awesome. read more

Fresh pasta. Salmonberry is an order-at-the-counter-then-sit-yourself restaurant that has limited days and hours in winter. We went Sunday and they were out of stock on several dishes as they make all they can with the ingredients and sell until they run out each weekend. So go earlier on the weekend to have the full breadth Despite a slightly limited menu, we were thrilled with the food quality, especially a home-made pesto with fresh pasta. Wonderful. The pizza was wine-bar style and great and our red sauce pasta was good too, and the top pick for our kids. Beer comes in cans, but they have a full bar and did a great mock-tail for my spouse who wasn't feeling alcohol. I can't wait to come back next time we are on the coast. read more

We had a delicious dinner, while sitting on the outside patio overlooking the bay! We opted to share a beet salad and a Detroit style pizza, with plenty of leftovers between 2 of us. The pizza was amazing, the dough was light, but so crispy especially with the cheese edges. Cocktails were delightful as well, and service was friendly and attentive. read more

The location is nice but service is terrible. If you have a group of 4 or more do not expect your food to come out in any timely manner. We waited literally an hour and a half for a pizza (single personal, $27) that was ordered at the same time as everyone else's dinner. Mind you, this is counting the time from when the first dishes were dropped from same order. After an hour we had to flag down our waiter and ask him not to bother bringing it as we were already packing to-go boxes-being that our dinner was finished. The waiter was extremely rude, male don't remember his name, and said if we placed an order we couldn't take it back and had to pay for it. We argued saying how we can we pay for something that isn't here. The waiter walked off. We asked to speak to the gm but no one ever came. He packed the pizza we never ate in a to-go box and dropped off our check (with the pizza still charged). Do yourself a favor and skip the headache of this place. read more

A bit unassuming from the parking lot but don't let that fool you- this was easily one of the best dinners we've had on the coast! Got the margherita pizza and meatballs. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed the view from the patio and so thankful they allow dogs outside because he always comes to the beach with me! read more
Sad to report but they are closed for good. It was a good place even with curt service and cafeteria style dining. Hopefully some other restauranteur will fill the good food gap. read more

If you ever find yourself anywhere near Wheeler, Oregon make sure to stop, and dine at the Salmonberry Saloon. Definitely planning to head back there soon. Yes, their food is that good! Thank you to (Elite yelper) Jason V. for the solid recommendation. read more

ARE YOU KIDDING ME. RiDankulous. Impeccable stuff on this side of town. Agnolotti was incredible with that BaNg if you knaw i'm sayin. It has shareable size because it's light but filling. BEST PEP PIZZA IVE EVER HAD. when you look at a pizza like this, you think of time and love because that's what was put into this piece of yummy yummy. crust was crisped with the essence of great knowledge of time and energy roasted broccoli was to die for and come back to life for as a lake dog I'm coming back to an airbnb nearby just to come back to eat at this fine establishment at least once a day. Place is decorated quite nicely, staff is friendly and they even got a super clean gender neutral bathroom. read more

Food was so tasty! It's a bit on the pricy side for a walk up and order kind of place but the views are incredible. - pasta with clams - pesto pasta - glass of wine - cherry soda $75 bucks The individual who took my order was very unpleasant. We had questions about the menu and he was very short and curt. Didn't feel like I could ask a question. We were in a group of 4 but the two couples ordered separately. When our friends sat down I asked them what they thought of the man who took our order and they agreed he was boarder-line nasty. The remaining staff who brought out or food was very friendly! If I was ever in the area again I would eat here because the food and view was so good! read more
