However, felt that it was just a bit too pricy for the overall experience. The vibe of the restaurant didn't fit with the price tag. The restaurant decor and spacing of tables felt more like a casual thai place rather than this upscale concept. They could do better on filling up the restaurant to make it feel more comforting. We did the wine pairings too. The pour was heavy and the wine was delicious. The coconut sundae was delicious! A must get. The pork links was subpar. Sea by Jungsik has become my new favorite go-to spot when I can snag a reservation. They're usually booked, so you'll want to make reservations ahead of time. Interior is upscale but with comforting vibes if that makes sense. The food and service is what really keeps me going back. Their family style menu is perfect to try everything and at such a great price point. You'll be leaving so full and happy. Every dish is always absolutely delicious every time I go. So consistent and always executed perfectly. I get cravings for their dishes, which im already having now. Great for a date night, dinner with friends, or a larger party. I also made a large reservation to do a birthday dinner there, and of course, food was amazing and service was above and beyond. My boyfriend and I originally came here for restaurant week but decided to do the prix fixe menu since it was only around 10$ more and since it offers full sized dishes as opposed to the reduced size the restaurant week menu offers. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food we were getting, it was actually difficult to finish because the portions were so big and there were so many courses. A few memorable dishes: the fried chicken was hot and steamy, fresh off the fryer. The skin was crispy crunchy and savory. The meat was tender, hot and juicy. The branzino had a refreshing element from the fruit in the sauce and was delicious. The coconut sundae had the perfect amount of creaminess, sweetness and crunch from the toppings. I will say we were a bit unimpressed by the crab fried rice--it wasnt bad it just wasnt memorable. Bigger than expected restaurant space in midtown. There's seating in the front for smaller groups and larger format seating in the back. I was really excited to try SEA by Jungsik as a lover of Southeast Asian food and lover of 3 Michelin starred Jungsik. I'd describe SEA as Jungsik's more casual, less intimidating sister restaurant with quality food. We ordered just about everything on the menu and it was all delicious. I recommend the following dishes: -Spicy beef tartare -Fried chicken (which has to die for Zabb seasoning) -Dry tom yum noodles -Crispy pork belly -Coconut sundae The reason this review is 4 stars is because service was a bit awkward and subpar. I'm not sure if it was because the circular booth for my group of 6 was awkwardly configurated, but our servers just handed us our fresh plates and utensils. We got to try so many dishes and I would happily order them all again. Everything had a bit of spice as a PSA, but nothing was overly spicy. wow, i had high expectations with "jungsik" being attached to this restaurant, but it still exceeded my expectations. we made a reservation for a tuesday night dinner at 630 and it was about half packed at that point. but by the time we left it was full, so i definitely recommend reservations. the short rib was incredible - the most tender and delicious! the chili eggs are deep fried but still jammy/gooey yolk in the middle and the chili crisp and tamarind are perfect with it. also the stir fried greens were SO flavorful, a serious stand out. crab fried rice with omelette egg on top was also decadent and rich. our server also recommended the tuna carpaccio, and i'm so glad he did, it was an explosion of flavor - salty, sweet, bitter, sour, spicy - someone at the table next to us also ordered it and literally said "yeah, i could eat about 17 of those." if you're into south east asian flavors and open to some fusion-y type dishes, highly recommend read more

We came for Restaurant Week on a Friday and the restaurant was not busy. It took awhile before we were seated, but once seated, the service was attentive. The restaurant was decorated with posters and it was bright inside; it had a more causal ambiance than I was expecting. We both ordered the tuna carpaccio for the appetizer and the pineapple sorbet for the dessert. For the mains we decided to get one of each and share them all. The mains were crab fried rice, dry tom yum noodles, branzino, and crispy pork belly. The tuna appetizer good; the rice paper added a nice texture with the tuna, and they also had a strong citrusy sauce on top. The crab fried rice was good, but nothing special. I enjoyed the dry tom yum noodles, but my friend thought it was just okay. The sauce on the branzino was really flavorful, but the portion of the branzino was small, and the bay scallops were not good. The crispy pork belly was prepared well, but the portion was also small. The pineapple sorbet had a strong pineapple flavor and was a nice way to end the meal. Overall I thought the food and flavors were good, but I'm not sure if it was worth the Restaurant Week deal, as the portions were smaller than their regular portions, and they do have their own regular pre-fix menu. read more

Excellent food, poor expediting, somewhat disjointed but friendly service at Sea. We went for restaurant week but were convinced to order off of the regular menu. Each dish was truly great. Prawn rolls were perfect, steak tartare was delicious, fried chicken was incredible, black cod curry was perhaps the most perfectly cooked piece of fish we've ever had, and the desserts were ethereal. The surprise hit dish of the night for us was the crab rice. Something we normally avoid as we never find it to be all that special: at Sea, it was. Why 4 stars? The service wasn't great. Sat for 15 minutes waiting for water, menus...and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we got there. Our main dishes came out, all but the cod, and we had time to savor them all, wondering where our cod was. We assumed they'd forgotten it so we just enjoyed our food and decided to just tell our waiter (who never came to check on us, so we couldn't tell him we were missing a dish) that it didn't arrive but we were full so no worries. 25 minutes after the mains came out and we had clearly finished, that is when the fish came out. No apologies for the oversight, no acknowledgement how poorly timed it was. We pointed this out both to the expediter and to our waiter. What if we hadn't been sharing? What if one had waited 25 minutes for their food while everyone else ate? We then had to flag our waiter again several times to try to get the check and finally someone else brought it to us. So - excellent food. Poor expediting. Not great service overall. Would we eat at Sea again? We would. The food was terrific. But avoid the tables in the corner where the server fears not to tread. You will find it hard to flag them down and even if you do, you should be prepared for hiccups. If you are looking for a long lingering meal, you won't mind either way as the food really was the star. read more

Full disclosure--when I chose SEA for a Monday evening dinner, I was expecting a seafood restaurant. No, I didn't read the menu (duh!) I just looked at the photos on Yelp and seeing it on Eater's list for great restaurants open on Monday. So I was pretty disappointed when I did read the menu upon being seated for our reservation. But we were there and I was hungry so I decided to roll with it. And I'm so happy I did. Our server eagerly offered recommendations and we went with what he suggested--prawn rolls, sriracha ribs, crispy pork, and dry tom yum noodles. We thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Service was outstanding, with whomever brought each dish giving us guidance on how best to eat it. The amount of fresh herbs made the food both flavorful and aromatic. The atmosphere is a chill vibe, dim and cozy. We went fairly early and there were only a handful of tables seated but by the time we left, it was definitely filling up. There's 2 Yelp pages for the same business so I'm gonna post twice since I'm not sure which one is the main. This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! I love the concept of a Southeast Asia restaurant since personally that's my favorite cuisine! A lot of the dishes I got drew influence from Vietnam, so I may be bias. Beef tartare: wowee this one was TANGY, I loved it! It reminds me of a Vietnamese rare beef in lime juice salad (bò tái chanh). If you're not a sour fan, this dish might not be for you. Prawn rolls: It came with a marinated fish sauce dip, which I think paired really nicely with the rolls. If you're not a fan of fish sauce, I think the rolls taste fine on their own without the sauce. Crispy pork: The crispy skin is so delicious. The sauce that it came with (on the side) was the spiciest thing we got all night, but nothing crazy. The spice will linger in your mouth for a bit. Pork noodle soup; This was a porkier phở, which is an interesting concept! I liked it, came with ample pork. All of the pork cuts were not gamy. The service was very friendly and attentive. Wow, if you need to impress someone, bring them to SEA by Jungsik. Not only was the food top notch, but the presentation had us oohing and aahing every time they brought out a dish. Must gets: the skirt steak was beautiful. short rib special and crispy pork belly are prepared similarly, in that it's a "make your own wrap" kind of situation, but both meats were cooked perfectly. Cocktails are elegant, ranging from spirit forward (dirty cha yen, bourbon Thai iced tea) to fresh (calamansi sour was my fave!) Additional notes: the oysters here are the plumpest oysters I've ever had in my life. The short rib special paired nicely with roti. The fried chicken was tasty but the zaab dry rub was too messy and I found it kind of hard to eat, though I LOVED the som tum salad that came with it!! This place caught me by surprise at how AMAZING it was! The staff is very friendly, it is a lot more spacious than I thought it would be (beautiful ambiance with nice spacious seats in the back), and all the dishes were SO good. Highly recommend getting the Crispy Pork!! The crisp of that pork is so solid and everything goes well together (you put all the ingredients together like ssam). We didn't really taste the sriracha on the Sriracha Ribs but they were still yummy. The Crab Fried Rice took a lot longer than expected to come out b/c we had already finished all the other dishes by the time it finally came out, and this one was actually our least favorite because it was actually pretty salty ): The Black Cod was very creamy but definitely had a spicy kick to it; thankfully it came with a bowl of rice. But we saved some of the broth to eat with our Crab Fried Rice! The Prawn Rolls were filled with prawns and a perfect appetizer. Last but not least, the Dry Tom Yum Noodles actually kind of tasted like Bolognese pasta??? It was unique and had a lot of meat in it! Came for lunch a few weeks ago as my friend had gotten me a gift card. My server was very sweet and attentive. I had the steak bun cha lunch set which came with two fried prawn rolls to start. The prawn rolls were fried nicely and the prawn filling was tender and delicious. The real star was the nuoc mam dipping sauce which was sweet, sour, salty, tangy, and punchy. So delicious! The steak bun cha came with perfectly seared and seasoned steak. Somehow the steak was so tender and somehow fatty that it tasted like kalbi?? It was so good. The pickled radish was good. The dish came with a dipping sauce but it was a little too sour for me and not quite what I was hoping for, but objectively it was delicious and paired well with the steak, pickled radish, and vermicelli. Would love to try the chef's crudo and black cod but they ran out the day I went. Don't sleep on the desserts either! The pineapple sorbet and coconut sundae were very different but both so delicious. I really liked Jungsik, so I was excited to try out SEA ever since I saw that it opened. The interior is modern, dark, and spacious, and the staff members were friendly and attentive. They also give you jasmine-scented towelettes to clean your hands at the beginning of the meal, which we were obsessed with! We ordered the sriracha ribs, the prawn rolls, dry tom yum noodles, fried chicken, crab fried rice, and the coconut ice cream sundae. We were a huge fan of the sriracha ribs - I could taste the sirarcha but it wasn't overpowering, super flavorful. The prawn rolls were also great - the wrapping was cripsy and the prawn pieces were fresh and firm. The dry tom yum noodles were good, but I didn't really get the tom yum influence. I thought it tasted like a spicy version of pasta bolognese which puzzled me a bit. The fried chicken (came with a thai salad on the side which I enjoyed) was fried perfectly and was overall delicious, but there were pieces that were sprinkled with a lot of some sort of spice powder, which was really sweet and could be overwhelming if you got a piece with too much of it. The crab fried rice was yummy and I appreciated the large chunks of crab on top, but I didn't think it was particularly special. Lastly, the coconut sundae was good but I would probably skip this (it's coconut soft serve with, if I remember correctly, hazelnut and cacao nibs). The bubbles are the perfect pairing for the menu, but the cocktails look equally as fun. The food: must gets are the chef's crudo (the most incredible juicy, tangy vinaigrette paired with it), the prawn roll, sriracha ribs, black cod (in a deliciously spicy red curry), and the crab fried rice. Okay, I said "must gets", but this was actually everything I ate. It was all so good. I appreciated the ability to add in your own spice level to the crab fried rice, and LOVED the omelette on top. Finally, a creative take on crab fried rice. The black cod was incredible -- but worth noting that it was the spiciest thing we had. Totally doable though if you like spice. For the mains, we had the short ribs, black cod and crab fried rice. The short ribs were very tender but a little bland. While there's a spicy sauce, it's still missing something but the ribs were still cooked really well and enjoyable. The best dish was the black cod. While the cod was, as expected, flaky and juicy, what stood out was the incredible, spicy sauce which just exploded with flavors. While we also had the crab fried rice, the sauce was best left to be paired with the plain jasmine rice that comes with the dish. Amazing and a must order! Finally, the crab fried rice is their signature pictured dish but alas, was good but not great. Not enough flavors and while good, I could have skipped it. Located a few blocks from K-town, Sea has a small front dining room and a larger one in the back. Reservation weren't hard to get, however you will probably need them as the space was filled. Pivoting from fine dining cuisine -Sea has many hearty dishes that are meant to be shared family style. The portions are bigger than we expected and were very full after splitting 2 smalls, 2 bigs, and 2 sides. We had; Chili Eggs - a fried egg similar to that of a scorched egg with chili jam and vegan fish sauce. I didn't think I'd like this but it was very good. Sriracha Ribs - flavorful, tender, filling = perfect. Definitely a plate to have on the table. Crab Fried Rice - favorite dish of the meal. Hearty place of fried rice with big chunks of crab and topped with an omelette. This is considered a side though easily could be an entree. Black Cod - served in a red curry sauce. The curry was delicious, however it did overpower the flavor of the fish. Crispy Pork - pre sliced thin pieces of crunchy delicious pork with ssam accompaniments.
