I have been driving by this place since it opened and always wanted to try it as sometimes there is a line outside. I went on Sunday and I have to say I was severely let down. The breakfast sandwiches are premade and "warmed up". When I took a bite out of it and the middle, it was really cold (yes I asked for it to be heated when asked hot or cold). You can see the tray of premade sandwiches in the back that are sitting out for who knows how long. The roll that it was on was very thick and dry. The bacon was undercooked, the cheese was not melted and the egg was dry. You cannot mix or match or get them ordered the way you want. The service was ok I guess, not much of an interaction other than my order and payment. There is no ambiance as you cannot eat inside there are no tables. Plus the sandwiches seem really overpriced $14 for 2 BEC. I will not be coming back here again and I don't know what the hype is about. read more

Scratch bakery is the best bakery in New England. Their coffee is absolutely delicious, especially their caramel iced coffee, which is drizzled abundantly in caramel sauce. Their bacon egg and cheese sandwich is quite possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The fresh and crispy bread compliments the sweet cheese flavor perfectly. Their pastries are similarly impressive. The Monkey Bread is incredible: a fluffy cinnamon bun doused in frosting. The chocolate croissants are fluffy, flakey, and perfect for chocolate lovers, as it contains 3 strips of chocolate in the croissant. The scones are a perfect combination of crumbly and moist. The service is quick and all the workers are incredibly kind and friendly. I've been going to Scratch for about 8 years now and have never been even slightly disappointed by their products. However, my one complaint is that the pastries often run out throughout the day, so you have to get their fairly early to experience their deliciousness. I am sorry but this is the most overrated place in Milford. Every time I come the cashier and people at the front are extremely rude. I came in at 10:40am and they said it was too early for lunch by 15 minutes, but yet they had barely any breakfast food available because they were out of a lot. They denied making a bacon egg cheese sandwich because they ran out - which is admitting that they make these in bulk in the morning so they are not fresh made on the spot. How hard is it to make a breakfast sandwich during breakfast? I ordered a blueberry muffin and it was hard, like rock solid and bland. I wanted to spend more money but there was barely any food. I've tried this place 4 times, never again always disappointed. This place went down hill once they moved and expanded the operation. Note for the owner - hire happier employees with people skills. We got good vibes from this bakery as soon as we walked in, with a friendly staff and interesting menu offerings, and then, we got very good food. Both the Chipotle Club sandwich and the Thai salad were great and big portions to boot. Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich- Buttery, cheesy, thick cut bacon, delicious, fluffy roll. Must try! Cinnamon + walnut scone- Delicious! Moist and not dry like other scones I've had. A good amount of sweetness. I really enjoyed it with my black coffee. Not sure that I really tasted the walnut, but I would highly recommend! Money Bread- Fluffy, light, sweet, glazed on the top. Fun little bakery! Good breakfast spot along the town center greenway, with little tables inside for a meal or can get stuff to go. I got the breakfast pizza - with the vegan soy sausage and spinach topping. They heat it up for you if you want, brought to my table. Had a quiche style crust, with egg and crumble topping and cheese. We also got the bread pudding with raisin muffin, super sweet and tasty. Had a layer down the middle of raisins and crunchy textured top and pudding textured bottom. Yum! All recommended and tasty! Service was friendly and helpful, explaining the menu and food options. Stopped in while having to do other business in Milford. The place is well setup for ordering and pickup. You cannot eat inside as if 3/9/21. The staff were very nice and professional. Many of the baked product were displayed behind glass and it all looked great. The smell is wonderful if you like baked goods, and who doesn't. I ordered one of the cold sandwiches- turkey and Brie. It came with a cookie and I got the pecan chocolate chip. The sandwich was delicious and the cookie was great. I definitely recommend scratch. Simply done with great execution. read more

I was in the area and had this place bookmarked. So many choices; dessert, sandwiches, breakfast, lunch, coffee...uggh I couldn't choose. I went with a sausage egg and cheese and a small coffee. It was delicious...the cheese they use is so good. The sausage was a thick meatball shape, way smaller than the circumference of the bread. Basically you don't get to the sausage until the 3rd or 4th bite. However, it was so good. My only issue was that the sausage was cold in the middle. Since it was so thick the heat didnt penetrate the sausage while being heated up. Luckily it was so tasty I was able to bypass that. I want to try their quiche. read more

Just stopped in for a Saturday afternoon sandwich. Wow. We shared the chipotle club. On its own it was perfect - the crunch of toasted bread, gooey but not too gooey cheese, a little kick, and just the right amount of saltiness. I stopped for a cup of coffee and a sweet roll in the mid-afternoon. The bakery closes at 4:30. The "tablet checkout device" is ok, except it presented tip options STARTING AT A SUGGESTED $2.00 for handing a $6.35 coffee and roll across a counter with very little "grace". A 30% tip is absurd and a trap for customers. I left a cash tip, which I much regretted in retrospect. I sat down outside to eat and the coffee was lukewarm. The bread pudding should have been on the discount rack. I know it was 2 hours before closing, but that is the time when freshness and quality should be "checked" for a reasonable, serve-able full-price product. A stale inventory should not be dumped on the customer. I reduced the rating for 3 to 2. I drink a lot of coffee and have enjoyed many such mid-afternoon stops in my travels. Yum! So fresh and so happy to support local. We had the quiche of the day and the bacon egg and cheese, with a chai latte and coffee. We walked across the street to the park and ate outside. It was cold, but the food and beverages kept us warm. The service was great, very attentive and patient staff, and the food is amazing.
