We've ordered from here many times, but dining in was a bit tough because of the limited space. Service was just okay. My husband and mom ordered the famous Hainan chicken, and I had the seafood baked spaghetti. We also ordered the escargot, which was delicious. Portions felt small across the board. My mom barely ate her Hainan chicken and was given a very small box to take it home. My husband did enjoy his Hainan chicken rice, but my seafood baked spaghetti could've used more pasta. Also worth noting--no refills on the lemon iced tea. Small intimate ambiance like.

Savoy Kitchen is a staple of the Alhambra community and has been serving up great food for forever. Located at the corner of Valley and Monterey, there is a parking lot for the restaurant across the street, but there's also ample street parking. Savoy Kitchen is known for 2 things: their Hainan chicken and only taking cash. Fortunately the only thing that has changed, is that they now accept credit card, the Hainan chicken is as great as ever. Soft and tender, with a delicious chicken flavor. They give soy sauce, shredded ginger, and a tangy orange sauce that pair so well with it. They also pile on the rice, which I appreciate. The service is always quick even when it's busy. Our waiter was really nice and checked in on us often. There is seating both inside and outside, but I prefer outside. Overall if you're in Alhambra you should stop by for a meal!

Can never go wrong with this place. I always go with the hainan chicken with rice, dark meat. It's so basic and plain but so comforting at the same time. I love love love the sauces that the hainan chicken comes with. They are so fast with everything. The food, the refills, everything! The best part is, they have the patio where I can take my pup! They have a few indoor tables too :) The only thing we've noticed is that the size of the chicken has decreased. There's less chicken on the plates now. :(

4.5/5 If you love Hainan chicken, you should definitely try this place. My go-to order here is the Hainan chicken with dark meat. For takeout, they don't include much sauce, and unfortunately, there's a $0.50 charge for any extra sauce or ginger. The chicken is tender and juicy, never dry, and the rice is quite good as well. For me, the sauce is what really ties the whole dish together. Hainan chicken isn't meant to be aggressively flavorful. It's more of a comforting, lighter meal that highlights the quality of the chicken and the precision of the cooking technique. The staff are friendly and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great spot for individuals or small groups.

Back again and it's just as tasty! The service is always great and fast. This time we got the beef curry and dark meat dish. I'm a fan of dark meat, it even comes with a wing. The soup is basic and delicious - very flavorful chicken broth. The ice tea was a little sweet for me this time so I opted in to add some water after drinking half. We'll always be returning customers.

Worth the stop if you're in the area for some good hainan chicken! This is located right in the heart Alhambra near other great food spots. They have their own parking lot so nothing to worry about parking. There's not much seating inside so you'll probably have to eat at their patio, which is decorated quite well with green bushes. Their menu is pretty simple for the most part. Definitely order their hainan chicken. The rice was nice and buttery and their hainan chicken was juicy and tender. I would have loved it more if it came with pickled veggies and chicken soup. We also ordered the shrimp rolls for our appetizer and it was fried well, pretty tasty. However, the duck pizza was a miss... the dough was a bit raw and the cheese wasn't melted well. Also, the duck had a weird gamey taste. The service can be a miss but theyre working hard. They can get really busy on the weekends so just be prepared. Fyi... they do take credit card. For bathrooms, you would need to ask for the key inside. At the end, this deserves 4 stars. You can't beat the prices here as well.

I love going to savoy! The food is always delicious and it's not greasy at all. The egg rolls are crispy, the bread is lightly seasoned, and the mushroom pasta has a lot of mushrooms. There isn't a lot of seating inside, so the line can get quite long during busy hours, even if people sit outside.

Curry beef stew tendon and brisket - yum!

Haven't been here in a while since before I started Yelping, and then it was mainly for the Hainan chicken. It's known for the chicken, but I honestly think the other menu items are worth trying and kind of outshine the chicken now. Tried the curry beef stew tendon and brisket and that was delicious! There was plenty of tender beef and while there was a little tendon, it was mostly meat, which was great! It was very flavorful. The Hainan chicken is still good, although the portion of chicken does seem a little on the small side now and the sauces are okay. There are other items like the seafood pasta and even the pizza that look really good. Didn't get those this time but I saw others order things besides the chicken and I genuinely want to try them. This place has always been busy, but we didn't have too much of a wait for a Friday night and sat at the counter. Service was fine - not overly attentive but when it's busy with diners and plenty of phone orders, I get it. Still, our water was filled and orders came out quickly. Inside is small, but they also have the outdoor seating which looks pretty cozy and great for al fresco dining. Come and try it. Get the chicken if you want it, but definitely try some of the other things, too.

I tried their Hainan chicken with dark meat, and honestly, it was pretty underwhelming. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor--it tasted bland, and the portion felt small. Surprisingly, the rice was much better. It was fluffy, flavorful, and somehow had more taste than the chicken itself. The dipping sauces were hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed the ginger sauce, but the other two didn't stand out. I prefer my soy sauce on the sweeter side, but theirs leaned more salty. Oddly enough, the salad was the best part of the dish. The dressing was fresh and tasty, and it really stood out compared to the rest of the plate. Overall, I wouldn't come back. The place seems popular, but for me, it was disappointing.

Came by on a Wednesday around 3PM and it wasn't busy at all- got seated indoors right away. The inside is pretty small with limited tables, but they have a super cute patio outside that has a really chill, vibey feel. Gives cozy mom-and-pop shop energy with authentic food. Service was quick and friendly too. 1. Baked Escargot with Herb Butter- a nice starter, light enough to leave room for the mains. 2. Curry Beef Stew - comforting and flavorful, not too spicy so even if you can't handle heat, you'll be fine. 3. Hainan Chicken Rice - their signature dish and definitely the star. The rice is flavored and the chicken is soft and tender. 4. Seafood Pasta- a nice alternative to the rice dishes. Creamy and flavorful without feeling super heavy. Parking's easy; there's a small lot to the left of the restaurant plus free street parking. the hainan chicken rice is a must try!

Regular hainan chicken. After tax it's $16.02.

I thought the chicken could use a tad bit of salt though. The soup it came with was piping hot and accompanied the rice and chicken well. The rice itself could have used a bit more seasoning and chicken fat in my opinion.
