This place has been around forever, just like its neighbor Dong Nguyen. I've been wanting to come here for a while and finally decided to after seeing Kristie Hang post about it. Ordered the mushroom and ground pork banh cuon and BBQ pork banh cuon. The mushroom and pork one was so nostalgic! They give you a literal pitcher of nuoc mam so you can drench it to your liking. I poured some on top of the banh cuon and it was oh so delicious! The bbq pork one looked like soondae wrapped with rice noodle and was a little firmer. Not bad but would prob choose their other options next time. Service was friendly and decor looked like it hasn't been updated since they've opened so you definitely go for the food and not the vibes. I would 100% go back for the mushroom and pork banh cuon and maybe even try their BBH or bun rieu!

You know how nowadays we're all influenced by Instagram on where to eat? Hai Nam Saigon is definitely one of those IG-famous spots, so we were curious and decided to try it out. We ordered the bánh cuốn and bánh xèo, two Vietnamese classics. The bánh xèo was actually pretty good: nice crispy skin and a generous portion. But the bánh cuốn didn't live up to the Instagram hype at all. The skin was thick, not the delicate silky kind you expect, and the filling (for both dishes) was mostly veggies. The environment also wasn't the best for enjoying a meal. Overall, not really impressed and we won't be returning.

Very small hole in the wall place. Very few tables for seating as well. I would either order the number 5 or number 6 depending how I feel. I will always ask for extra cucumbers and cha lua, that's just me tho. Very simple meal and tastes clean. Big portions btw. If you want simple eating but very comfortable and easy. This the place :)

The banh cuon with the shrimp cracker cake is so delicious. You get a lot of food for a single order for to-go. Everything tastes delicious. The shrimp is crispy but full of flavor. The banh cuon had a lot of flavor and it's not sticky. It's possibly one of the better places I've had so far. They give you enough fish sauce. Honestly, you could probably order one and share between two people. For to-go orders, feel free to call ahead of time to order so you can just pick it up. It's ready pretty quick.

I was at the nearby CVS and needed to kill 30 minutes for my prescription to be ready so I stopped by this restaurant to eat lunch. I was greeted immediately by a staff and got seated right away. I looked at the menu and ordered the #14 dry noodles. The noodles here were really flavorful and the food came out pretty fast too. This is a true hole in the wall for authentic Vietnamese food and I believe it's family owned so I recommend trying this place out. Note: it's CASH ONLY Parking: plenty of plaza parking

Tons of free parking in plaza. Located tucked away in the back, next to 168 market. Used to come here as a child when it was a different restaurant and played on the coin operated rides right outside, so it brings back memories to visit this site. Cash only!!! I don't usually carry cash with me so not very convenient. But because of this, their prices are still reasonable and not ridiculously high due to inflation. Food is pretty decent. They specialize in banh uot, banh cuon, banh canh, bun and hu tieu. I like banh cuon nhan thit and bun rieu. The bun Bo hue is ok only.

The place is a great spot for banh cuon, though the portion sizes are small. It's a good idea to order an appetizer or side dish. They only accept cash and are located right next to 168 Market, with ample parking available. The workers are sweet and friendly. Would def come back!

The 5 stars is based entirely on this place being my childhood go-to restaurant. I only ever get the Banh Cuon Thit Nuong and, to me, it is phenomenal. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was 6 yrs old and this restaurant hasn't changed at all. I think they've only changed their chairs once in the last 27 years I've been coming here. I remember their rice flour recipe having changed once as well. But everything else seems to be the same - I'm talking about the tiny TV atop the fridge that belts out Vietnamese tunes, the sticky pink-ish tables, down to the glass jars full of fish sauce. Literally, a time capsule of a restaurant. I'm not going to lie, if I came in here as a first time customer, I'd give this restaurant a 2-star review because it's not exactly the most appealing or comfortable place to be. During the summer, they rarely turn on the AC...as a matter of fact, when I was a kid, I don't even think they had an AC unit! And, their hours have been drastically altered, which started maybe 10 years ago? Their hours just kept decreasing and decreasing and made even less due to the pandemic. With all that said, I still love this place and hope it continues to be that hole-in-the-wall mom-n-pop shop that I love. When I stop by, I always get 2 orders of Banh Cuon Thit Nuong and keep it all to myself! It's delicious and offers the right texture. They've also got their sauce down to a science! Just unchanged and untouched.

I have recently been craving banh cuon and stumbled across this mom and pop shop. We went with the #2 and #7, which were both exceptionally tasty and generous portion of. The #9 is super delicious and comes with greens (lettuce, mints) to make a wrap. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

    Craving it today. Banh Cuon.

I was craving bahn cuon while in the SGV and this place was recommended to me by a friend. I really miss Bahn Cuon Tay Ho that was on Valley, but it closed years ago. The food and presentation was just so nice and plentiful when it came to the fillings in the noodle wrap. Also their soups were so fresh. Hai Nam hit the spot but I just wished there was more... more filling, more to it. I might be back, when the craving hits again. (feel free to forward me recommendations)

*** NOTE *** No dine-in as of yet (5/7/21). You can either order in person or phone in order for pickup. They are closed on Thursday. I have always ordered the special because that's my favorite. Lots of flavors and fills me up and not too heavy on the greasy side. It's like having a big snack...hahaha

Overall - 4 starts. Good food, generous portions, friendly staff, hole in the wall. *cash only Ordering - called in our take out order and arrived rather quickly so had to wait 5ish minutes. Service - 4 stars - no issues here. Guy who took our order was friendly. Covid precautions were taken. Food - 3.5 stars #1 - rice noodle with a bunch of fried stuff - solid 3.5 stars. All the fried toppers were bomb but the rice noodle itself was thicker than I would have liked. I prefer the rice noodle that's super thin and soft. Vietnamese Crepe - 4 stars. This was still SUPER crispy when I got home so bonus points. You get 2 medium size crepes plus a bunch of vegetables with each order. The crepe was super crispy and the filling was perfectly tender. Amazing!

I first tried this place thanks to a friend whose roommate is Vietnamese and ordered for us over the phone. I'm not exactly sure what he ordered but my guess is the banh cuon flour sheet roll #1? I love that it features a variety of items, flavors and textures. There's the rice flour sheet roll, shrimp tempura, sliced pork loaf, fried bean cake, veggies (sprouts and cucumbers), and nuoc cham sauce to dip or pour over everything. It's the perfect meal on a plate (or in our case, takeout box)! Just wish it was closer!

It comes with chilies and fish sauce for you to pour on top. The rice cakes are served warm and are super smooth and soft. The thai chilies it comes with are spicy so don't use too much. The vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls comes with a slab of meat and a whole egg roll. The bottom are the noodles and mix of veggie and herbs. The nem nuong is sweetened charbroiled pork that is grilled. Think of a sweet meat ball. The egg rolls are super crispy and filled with meat. The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. Inside was pretty small but they offer inside and outside seating. Menu had a good variety of dishes and prices were reasonably priced. Got the Special Beef Combo Noodle ($14.50) and it consisted of eye round steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, and beef ball. The broth tasted very light and not too greasy or salty so that was enjoyable. The quality of the meat was very dry and wasn't tender so that was very disappointing. The portion of meat and noodles given wasn't plentiful so that was a bummer. The basil, bean sprouts, and lemon were decent and so were the complimentary sauces. We started with the rice cakes and pork spring rolls. The rice cakes were soft and delicate, while the spring rolls were packed with fresh vegetables and had a nice balance of textures. The Vietnamese crepe was one of my favorite dishes. The crepe itself was crispy and filled with bean sprouts, shrimp, and pork, creating a flavorful bite with plenty of crunch and freshness. The broken rice plate was another standout. The sweet and savory fish sauce soaked into the rice perfectly, and the assortment of meats was well-seasoned and flavorful. The vermicelli bowl was fresh and satisfying, featuring aromatic lemongrass pork that was beautifully charred. The pho was the highlight of the meal. The broth was rich, fragrant, and full of beef flavor. The noodles maintained a great texture, and the meats were tender. When we visited this weekend, there was a table with 3 ladies speaking quite loudly and proudly that they were influencers. They had ordered a huge spread across two tables for 3. Needless to say, there were a lot of take out boxes. I don't care for the social media hype. I care about the food and service. Service today was fine. There were several staff members around and it was easy to flag them down whenever we needed something. They also did come around the table occasionally to check on us. Food is where it fell flat. Overall, the food ate heavy and greasy. This is rare since Vietnamese food is often known for it's freshness and healthiness with all the veggies etc. We ordered a pork chop over broken rice with shrimp paste in soy paper. The rice was perfect broken rice, the pork was perfectly seasoned and fried nicely, has some nice lean bites and fatty bites. The problem was with the shrimp paste. It tasted stale and old and hard. It was off putting and really needed the nouc cham to help masks it. Second dish was what I usually order at all Vietnamese restaurants. Grilled pork with vermicelli. The one we got included 2 fried spring rolls (or ja yo). The spring rolls were good, I enjoyed them! The pork was a bit dry. Vermicelli was fine. Veggie mix only had romaine, cucumber, and bean sprouts. No basil or mints. The nouc cham was too bland to fix this dish. We needed more acid. There were too many raw garlic in the sauce that it gave us heartburn. The best thing we had was my ice tea. Simple jasmine tea was nice and thick, not watered down. Very refreshing and comes with refills. They have been here for a long time, and I want them to do well but I can understand why business has been slow of there are way better options out there right now.

They might be cutting costs because the economy is bad. I notice a large portion of their menu was covered up or dishes crossed out. Even the beverages got cut! You can only get like 3 different beverages which are ovaltine, coffee, and something else. They even cut out lemon ice tea. They're a mom and pop shop and it would be sad if they're out of business because of that reason, but the food was unfortunately not good. Service was really good though, but we were the only ones there majority of the time we were dining. The price for the hainan chicken was about $17, brisket was about the same. I don't remember the exact amount. Just listing that here because Yelp's prices are way off. Could be old pricing from a while ago.

We ordered the nem with Vietnamese grilled pork sausage (3 pcs), charbroiled sliced pork, and egg rolls after noticing almost every table ordering it. It definitely lived up to the hype, so delicious and huge portions to feed 2-3 people. My new first choice for Vietnamese food in the 626 area!

Dare I say, best pho in the 626? I finally found the opportunity to eat at Golden Delight after…read morepassing by hundreds of times to see a long line in front of the store. I came by on a Friday at 7pm for a dinner (weekend before Mother's Day) and was able to get seated in 15 minutes. They have a Yelp waitlist but you must go in person to join the waitlist. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!
