This is my absolute go-to whenever I'm craving banh mi. I've been coming here for years with my family and we always get the grilled beef banh mi. I personally don't like the vegetables but you can ask for it on the side. We like to call and place our order since this place is always busy. It's a small little shop with a few employees so it does that a little time to get your order prepared. Their egg rolls are also super fresh and taste amazing! It has an amazing crunch with every bite. Their grilled beef is also extremely tender and thin so every bite can be enjoyed without needing to break your jaw. Parking can be a little difficult to find if you come here during peak hours. They have a small lot in front of their store and some street parking.

This place is it for báhn mì! It's a popular mom and pop shop. They are cash only. It's not fancy or expensive. You can get a solid meal for around $10. The service is friendly and welcoming! The ambience is homey and cozy and old school vibes! The smell is nostalgic like someone's home cooking. They sell lottery tickets, traditional Vietnamese sauces and desserts. The pandan desserts are my fave! The food is delish it's fresh ingredients and the bread is so perf Plenty of free parking!

One of the greatest Vietnamese sandwiches in town is Banh Mi My Tho. Vietnamese sandwiches, coffee, and a wide variety of food are all available here, and it's always packed. To avoid having to wait too long for your food, arrive early!

Bread was pretty stale that it crumbled sadly

CASH ONLY. What happened.. Haven't been here in about a year. And really wanted to grab one of my favorites but was so disappointed. Filling of their banh mi wasn't what was the issue. Their baguette bread was. Bread seemed old and I can't pin point what was old about it. It was pretty crumbly before I even took a bite and noticed that it was cracked in odd places, not talking about the cut down the middle they usually do. Just after 2 bites the baguette started coming apart. It was noticeably dry and seemed stale. We visited on a Wednesday late morning a little after 10am. Not sure if they just had old bread from the day before which isn't common for them since they're always busy. Or they changed their bread recipe.. It was such a bad banh mi, I might not come back after over a decade of supporting them.

Grilled beef bahn mi was packed with meat and veggies, the baguette was crunchy on the outside with a great shell. Delicious sandwich, will be back!

3.5 stars Yelp guided me here. It's a popular small mom & pop store. Cash only. I ordered the #8 braised pork. It was ok, nothing special. I think I would prefer the sliced meat instead. They also have meatball and about 12 filling options. The unusual ingredient was crushed peanuts in the sandwich. Always check the ingredients. This is the first banh mi I've had in LA with peanuts. (I just checked the yelp store description and this store does say it's mayo dressing comes with peanuts and green onion.)

Absolute perfection! I've tried other Vietnamese sandwich places and this one is the best. The bread is nice and fresh and the filling inside is nice and full! We also tried the skewered meatballs and they were super moist and full of flavor. A treat and well sure be back!

If you are looking for delicious and Juicy Banh Mi, Banh Mi My Tho is the right place to go to. There were ample parking spots. It is a Mom and Pop shop. The shop is small, basically it's a take out one. They have fresh bakeries and some grocery items. I tried also couple of them and they were delicious. The owners were very nice and friendly. I ordered a couple of banh mi to go. - Charbroiled pork sandwich -Special cold cut Ham -Steamed meat ball - vegetarian banh mi In addition to egg rolls and barbecue pork skewer. The banh mi were very juicy and savory and not expensive at all. The egg rolls were crispy from outside and juicy. My family and I enjoyed everything we ordered. The service was fast. Next time, I will call in advance to pick up the order. It's a great Banh Mi to stop by and try it.

This is the definition of a no frills banh mi place in your neighborhood. Although the prices went up (now costs more than $5/sandwich), this cash-only spot makes me miss banh mi sandwiches. The sandwiches came out super fast, and it's great to split with friends. I got the cold cut combo, the pork, and the pork loaf (with pate) sandwiches to split. All of them tasted above average (although the #8 was a stand out for me). It's great to see the business expanding and that it wasn't too crowded when I went. There's so many banh mi gems in the SGV, and this is sure to be one of them!

Hole in the wall spot that takes cash and it's take-out only. Bring. Cash. There's one bench outside for sitting. Also has a bunch of other grocery items that makes it feel like a bodega. Had the dac biet banh mi. It slaps so good. The bread is crispy, the jalapeños are not super spicy. Great all rounder sandwich.

Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 I ordered this as a to-go item and still waited around ten minutes -- but it was completely worth it. I didn't even manage to take a photo before eating, because the chicken baguette was that tempting. The bread was excellent: crisp on the outside with a light, diamond-pattern chew to the crust, yet soft and moist inside without being dry or tough. The marinated pickled radish added a bright tanginess that perfectly balanced the savory chicken, cutting through the richness without overpowering it. The chicken itself was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned without being overly salty -- every bite felt harmonious, with just the right mix of crunch, softness, acidity and warmth. Simple, but done with real care. Since this was a take-out order, there wasn't an indoor dining space to comment on, but the small outdoor picnic tables were surprisingly clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated. The staff were friendly, patient, and kind throughout the process, making the experience even better. A delicious sandwich with great value, thoughtful preparation, and genuinely warm service -- definitely a five-star experience.

Ask the Community - Banh Mi My Tho

Does the banh mi sandwich contain peanuts in the sauce?

I don't believe that there's any peanuts in the sauce in their sandwich. The meatball or grilled pork most likely contains peanuts. You can have them removed or don't add in.

Is the meat in the banh mi served heated or is the meat at room temperature?

    heated

Can someone please verify Friday's operating times? thank you

    7am - 4pm

Says at the restaurant pick up is online order only. Where do I go to put the order in?

you should call in to place an order, that's what i did!

Are the spring rolls gluten free?

Likely yes because of the ingredients.

Do they use MSG? My friend and I are very sensitive to it

Do you eat tomatoes or Parmesan cheese? Those are LOADED with MSG

Are the banh mi here but 2 get 1 free? I'm getting mixed answers

No promotions such as buy 2 get 1 free here.

Is it still cash only even though it's covid?

    Yes

    Can you purchase the bread?

Yes, they will sell you baguettes if you like.

How is the Alhambra location observing social distancing if the customer portion is standing room only and quite small?

They're only allowing one customer to enter at a time. Everyone else has to stay in line outside.

    Do they take card?

It is cash only in the Alhambra location. The Rosemead location takes credit card.

Do they use MSG in the sandwiches?

They use cured meats, and all cured meats have natural msg.

How much for a dozen of egg rolls?

I think each egg roll is $0.50 or 0.60

When is the Rosemead location opening?

    Maybe next month, April??

Is there a mistake with the operating hours? It's said open from 6AM - 12 AM. Thanks!

Yeah. Operating hours are 7a-4p Tues-Thurs and 7a-7p Fri-Sun. No Mondays

It's my personal preference for some more balance or flavor in a sandwich, peppers/onions/seasonings. Honestly, Jersey Mike's seasons their veggies better. I will say the bread at this deli was a notch above Jersey Mike's which is definitely a plus as good bread can make or break a sandwich. Mozzarella sticks were great, although they were normal sticks nothing out of the ordinary but I've definitely had worse sticks (looking at you Prince St Pizza...) so I'd recommend them if fried cheese is your jam! Service counter young lady was nice, she was quick and helpful with her suggestions. Small store, kind of looks like a convenience store and then the deli counter is on the right of the entrance and cashier is in the back. Easy ordering process. tl;dr the Dutch crunch rolls highlight an otherwise standard lineup of hearty deli sandwiches…read more The Los Angeles sandwich scene ranges from terrific tortas to farmer's market-on-a-bun, but few spots have embraced the Bay Area's beloved Dutch crunch roll. These slightly sweet hoagie rolls are coated with rice flour, creating an addictively crunchy, tortoise-shell top. While hard to find, Dutch crunch rolls are the specialty at Ghost Sando Shop. This small sandwich chain (from the mind of NorCal native and former Chipotle exec Benjamin Sales) debuted in the Fairfax District, and it has expanded to Orange County and the Valley. Every sandwich at Ghost Sando sports a Dutch crunch roll, and the lineup has achieved TikTok fame. Briefly, Grand Central Market is a semi-outdoor industrial market turned upscale food court. The sky-high walls are painted white, and the concrete floors are slickly polished. Even during the day, only a few rays of sunshine enter through the skylight roof, leaving each vendor's neon sign to pop. During busy hours, expect foot traffic shoulder-to-shoulder through the narrow aisleways. Here, Ghost Sando has a central stall near the wide stairwell. You can't miss the bright teal paint or custom green neon sign. The walls are tastefully decked with hexagon tile and wooden slats. The sandwich production line is front and center, and staff members buzz around even well after the weekday lunch rush. Stools are pressed up against the long stainless steel bar counter, guaranteeing a seat for customers. My partner and I visited Ghost Sando for a weekday lunch, but our food was prepared relatively quickly. Immediately, I was shocked by the sheer density of the sandwiches. Rolled into compact cylinders, the weight could have fooled me into thinking they were bricks. The "Large" size was plenty for even a hefty appetite, but I can't imagine how anyone could tackle the double-topping "XX Large" portions. I also enjoyed the unique Dutch crunch loaf -- consider holding your sandwich upside-down to fully appreciate the crispy shell. Otherwise, the sandwiches were more standard than spectacular. The cold cuts are more like grocery store variety than premium deli, and the veggies are only a step above Subway. I preferred the mildly spicy Firebird to the warm-ish Pastrami Mami, but neither blew my socks off. The service is mostly disengaged, and the sandwiches run from $15 each. Reasonably, a sandwich can be extended across 2 meals. The sandos are mostly standard, but the Dutch crunch rolls are mildly addictive. While Ghost Sando is not a reason alone to pay GCM a visit, it is a filling and reliable bet for routine DTLA lunch.
