I went here with my daughter on a whim during a weekday and went right at opening. There was only one other patron there at the time and a few people coming in and out, picking up to go orders. We were able to sit at any table and it had good AC and was comfortable. They also had cute decorations that made it feel like you were in someone's house. We ordered the oxtail pho as well as the combo pho. Both were delicious and had good broth! Since I had an upcoming doctors appointment, I couldn't add any hot sauce or hoisin, but this forced me to appreciate the quality of the broth itself. We both enjoyed our meals and will definitely be coming back. One thing I noticed is that they don't have any pho ga or any pho with chicken. To be honest, I never go for that... Great place for a nice bowl of pho. Compared to other locations, I find the broth here less on the sweet side. You can upgrade your bowl to large for $2. The menu offers rare and well done meat. They have a lunch special on weekdays from 9am-3pm $13.95 for any pho (excluding ox tail) with one egg roll. The restaurant is located right by the freeway. There's a small parking lot in the front. My order came pretty fast - less than an hour There are 3 options of Pho and drink - well done brisket, rare steak & well done brisket, and beef meatballs. This place seemed tucked away. I only found them because I was in Monterey Park and I was craving banh mi so this popped up as the closest spot. Interior was nice/bigger than I expected from the outside. I only ordered a banh mi to-go, but just looking at the other tables I could tell some of the other dishes looked solid, looked like their was depth of flavor. I'll just speak on the banh mi though. They had a beef brisket banh mi which really intrigued me. I don't think I've been to a place with beef brisket banh mi. I think it is a dope offering to have as a menu item. They also pair it with a small sauce sized container of pho broth. I think the pho broth paired well for sure. Where it fell short was that it was slightly over seasoned and maybe sliiightly dry. I think it can be a delicate balance to give a little char to the brisket while not over cooking it or drying it out. I'm not sure if there's any pate or any other sauce/spread in the baguette itself at least I didn't taste it. I would've liked slightly more vegetable inside for balance and crunch. The pho broth was also slightly salty but still had depth of flavor and was a welcomed pairing because it gave the banh mi more moisture. I may have said all that, but I think it was all subtle things. It still tasted good. It's priced on the higher side so there's an expectation to really nail it or come down a little on pricing. The beef was rich, flavorful, tender and had nice little fatty bits that made it all the more succulent. The bread was soft and lightly crunchy. Love the fresh, pickled veggies in there! It came with an au jus, which was new. I've never had a banh mi with au jus. Well, it was wonderful. The au jus was delicious and made the sandwich even better. I ordered the combo pho with a little of everything. Meats were generous and the broth was good. I noticed the noodles were different than most other places. Sometimes delivery pho can be a mess, but this was packed perfectly-the broth was still piping hot and the noodles were fresh, not soggy at all. We visited on a rainy Tuesday evening around 7 PM and unfortunately left very disappointed. Parking is extremely limited, which became even more frustrating given the weather. We were told the restaurant was at full capacity and had to wait outside in the rain with very little coverage. For such a small space, the waitlist process also felt unnecessary and disorganized. Absolutely no need for pagers imo. Once seated, the experience didn't improve much. The broth was not hot enough to properly cook the beef, which remained essentially raw throughout the meal and was inedible for me. For a pho restaurant, broth temperature is critical. The noodles were good, but overall the food quality was just average. The interior felt cramped, and the decor didn't feel cohesive with the permanent wall design. Service was also lacking because there appeared to be minimal staff, and no one checked on us during the meal. We saw the surrounding tables complain as well on the service out loud and wanted to leave. I had previously attended a Yelp event here and enjoyed it, which made this visit especially disappointing. We came here per a recommendation from Peter and Lisa. One of the few places that still offer good quality for quality low prices. LA getting ridiculous with 10.5% tax and nothing to show for it...... Negatives: -parking and ambiance is a little tight. If you miss the restaurant in the corner you'll never know it's there. Positives: -value of food for your money is great. Their weekday lunch special is 13.95 for pho and an eggroll. Most of their dishes are 15 and under too. -we got pho, sticky rice, banh hoi nem nuong, and braised beef brisket banh mi. The pho broth was on the sweeter side and it was just okay for me. Our favorite dish is the braised beef banh mi. It's a perfect fusion of pho and banh mi. We'll be coming back just for that dish alone. I've been here quite a few times. Food: The pho is solid. It's not the best in town, in my opinion, but it does get the job done. The soup was warm, not too hot. The lunch special is great because you get free egg rolls with your pho! The eggrolls taste decent. They provide a free plate of lime and veggies. Drinks: They look amazing! It's so aesthetically pleasing. My drink was a combination of strawberry and Yakut, which definitely hit the spot. My friend also really liked her drink too! Adorable place to grab pho and bah mi! It's well decorated inside and located in a little plaza with a small parking lot. The service was good, not very quick for lunch rush. Don't be mistaken by their gimicky name, this place has really solid Pho. Their bowls are huge and for an average of $15, I can have it for two meals. The broth tastes like it's been simmering for hours in the back. Their bahn mi is also pretty solid. I'd recommend passing on Mom's rice as the chicken barely had any lemongrass flavor. My friends and I got here a little after they opened and they were able to seat us right away! It was nice to have it just be us for a bit but after about an hour it picked up. I arrived at Pho Ever (Alhambra) on Tuesday (around 6:18pm). Its private parking lot is cramped and tiny. Also, I disliked how the busy intersection sometimes blocks this tiny plaza's exit. This business is walking distance from the Garfield Medical Center. Staff is welcoming and friendly. When I'd entered, staff quickly invited me to a table. Immediately after, staff placed a glass bottle of water. I appreciated how the water tastes crisp and clean. Later, I ordered the Combo Dac Biet Pho ($14.95). The food arrived in four minutes and 49 seconds. Very fast! As mentioned, the Combo Dac Biet Pho ($14.95) is not bad. For its price, there's a lot of meat and ingredients. Unfortunately, the meat was bordering on rubbery; the broth was bitter; and the noodles did not taste fresh. Fortunately, the taste is not awful. Rather, the food felt like it prioritized "efficiency" over quality. Pho Ever (Alhambra) had a comfortable, sleek ambiance. The location is very clean, well-ventilated, and soothing. I appreciated the smooth upbeat music, modern knickknacks, and dim lighting. The tables are shiny, and the floors are relatively well-swept. Pleasantly surprised! I went in with zero expectations thinking it's probably just another hipster spot. Some reviews did have me concerned but totally would recommend this place!! The pho broth here is very clean and very flavorful. We got the oxtail and it came with two small one large bone. The meat was so tender!!! I really enjoyed it but my BF who lives in the OC says OC pho is way better lol. Well... He's never taken him so as far as I'm concerned this was my favorite oxtail pho!! We also got the brisket banh mi. OMG this was fire!! Stuffed with meat and the pickled veggies worked so well!!! Jalapenos were served on the side which I appreciate but the ones we got has no kick at all. Luckily each table comes with shiracha and hoisin sauce. Just added a squeeze of shriracha with each bite and it was perfection! The banh mi is served with a side of broth. It's a more concentrated version of the pho broth. I think it's meant to be eaten with the banh mi like a French dip. We did try it dipped but preferred it as is cuz their bread was so good and crispy without being hard. The Vietnamese coffee here was also amazing!! No grassy aftertaste. It's super thick and rich tho so let it dilute a bite and take small sips in the beginning. You're welcome. I didn't give full stars because when we first walked in, we were hit with a very strong chemical smell. Likely from the soap they use to mop? That's what it smelled like. The portion was good for the price - they definitely did not skimp on the meat and it was tender. The only downside was that my flat noodles tasted a little overcooked. However, I was disappointed with the service, particularly from the waitress who was wearing glasses. A friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat lunch on a Thursday afternoon and found this place on yelp. The parking lot is shared with a convenience store but is pretty small and probably holds less than 10 cars. It was full when we arrived but we found street parking right next to it. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and was about half full when we walked in. We were seated right away and ordered the combination pho, crab egg rolls, and banh hoi w/ pork sausage. They have a lunch special for any of their pho (except oxtail) for $13.95 from Monday through Friday 11 am to 3 pm that comes with a veggie egg roll. You can also add on specific drinks for an extra $3. The crab egg rolls were $12.95 and the banh hoi was $14.95. Everything was so so good! The broth for the pho was so flavorful and there was so much meat. The crab egg rolls were fragrant and the banh hoi was refreshing. The service was also great. Their pho is delicious and the portions are generous for the price. The noodles have a wonderful chew to it. The onions are sliced paper thin, the way it should be. The soup base is so so so good! Since this was my second visit, I chose to order their lunch special, which is $13.95 for a bowl of pho, a veggie spring roll, and (+$3) a green Thai tea. The lunch special portion is just as generous. The veggie spring roll was just ok. The green Thai tea was pretty good after the ice melted a bit. Service was friendly. Average pho, above average tempura mushrooms!! We stopped by on a Saturday evening and it was packed! They estimated a 30 min wait time but got us in at around the 20 min mark (good thing because it was cold and we were starving!). My friends are frequent visitors so they recommend the blue oyster mushroom tempura and obviously the pho. I opted for the well done steak and their lions dance drink. The pho was good but something was a little off about the soup. Usually I get pho or a nice warm meal that's on the lighter side but the soup felt slightly heavy and meat-y. They also seated us right by the door and people were coming and going so the frigid air from outside made our pho cold immediately :(. As for the drink, I would say it was slightly in the sweeter side. And last but not least, the mushrooms really hit the spot - so delicious and crunchy - I wish I had the whole plate but my skin would break out so bad LOL.
