You make these rolls with the fish with the sauce that you create along with all the side raddish's, carrots, and lettuce. We got the medium fish and it filled the 3 of us. The service was great. Our server got us everything we needed whenever we needed it. It feels like a bbq place and there's definitely a like so come early. Had an early dinner at this location on a Saturday around 4pm. Lots of parking in the plaza available. The restaurant is very big. The bathrooms were kept nice and tidy too! Upon arrival I thought they were closed since there weren't too many seated customers. So it felt tranquil while we were seated. During our meal, around 5pm more families started showing up for prime dinner time. Service was good overall. Service got a little hectic as more families showed up for prime dinner time. For my drink I got my favorite soda xi muoi. The drink was prepared perfectly. Their water was great as well! For an appetizer I order nem chua. Their nem chua was perfect! Some pieces had big pieces of chili, so be cautious! Thankfully the chili is visible so it is easy to take out if needed. For our table of 3 we ordered the small sized baked catfish. This is still my favorite place to host a large party. Over the years, it's been our go-to spot for family gatherings. The food hasn't changed at all and it's still incredibly delicious, and we always get the 7-courses of beef. The service was top-notch, too. The staff were very hospitable and accommodating. Most recently, we came for a birthday and totally forgot to bring plates and utensils for the cake. Even though we were a big group, a staff member named Kevin saved the day and brought us plates, plastic forks, and a knife for the cake. I LOVE this place. It has been a staple in our family for years. We come here multiple times in a year to celebrate birthdays, Mother/Father's Day, or even randomly when we're just craving. They bring out dried rice paper with water where you can quickly dip it and then proceed to fill your paper with anything you want to make your very own customized spring roll. They specialize in 7 course beef here which they have a set you can order that gives a little bit of all the meats. You can also order a la carte as well if there's one dish you particularly like. I really like the Bo Nuong Vi (marinated beef) since they bring out a little sizzling plate for you to cook on the spot. I also love getting extra orders of the Goi Bo Tom Thien An (Shrimp & Beef salad) since it adds good crunch and a citrusy flavor into my rolls. Included in your meal are a platter of refillable veggies like carrots, bean sprouts, and lettuce. Aside from meat, you can order a giant catfish depending on the size of your group. Pro tip if you know you're coming beforehand, you can call in and have them reserve a catfish for you. Otherwise, it would take like 15-25 min for them to prepare it on the spot. What we usually order when my large family gets together (between 8 - 16 people): Large ($89)/XL (?) catfish: A must order if you have a large family. The fish is baked/roasted until the skin is crispy & served whole, topped with oil scallions. I recommend the large b/c it is meatier than the smaller ones. The smaller ones are pretty bony. When you order this, it comes with banh trang (rice paper), fresh veggies/herbs/pickled carrots & daikon, & sauces. Those are refilled when the table runs low on ingredients. Bo nuong la lot: this is seasoned ground beef wrapped in betel leaves - grilled. In the past, the beef used to be a larger portion, but it has since gone through shrinkflation. A large comes with 10 beef rolls for $22. Still worth the splurge for me :) Dia Thit Nuong: Grilled pork that is sliced & served with fresh romain lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, & oil scallions. The oil scallions are delicious! I believe this is now $24 per plate. Cha Gio: Eggrolls are always a hit, but it's 5 rolls for $14. Again, worth the splurge to me. Not too salty...just deep-fried perfection. Don't remember the name of this dish, but it is the grilled beef rolled w/ onions. This is pretty good too, but I think it's expensive for what it is. However, the restroom is dingy and gross. Catfish - The star of the restaurant. I always recommend calling 20-30 minutes ahead, as it takes a while to prepare. Ordering can be a bit strange because the medium sometimes feels the same size as the large, even though you're paying $15+ more. They charge by weight, but it feels like you're getting scammed choosing the large over the medium. The fish can be hit or miss, with the flesh occasionally turning out mushy. I've ordered it to-go before, and they told me if it's mushy, call them and they'll honor a replacement on your next visit. Overall, it's still the best baked catfish in the San Gabriel Valley. The meat is moist, and the skin is crispy and crunchy. Bò nướng lá lốt - Juicy, tender, and full of flavor. This is my family's favorite. Bò nướng mỡ chài - Juicy, meaty, and milder in flavor. Bò chả đùm - Smooth, tasty, and sometimes peppery. This dish can be hit or miss. Once, we received an order that looked discolored and tasted rancid. They replaced it, but on our most recent visit, the meat was under-seasoned. The shrimp cracker is always good, though. Bún thịt nướng, tôm, và chả giò - A hidden gem. The lettuce and carrots are nicely shredded, and the meat is flavorful and generous. I don't see many people ordering this, but it's worth trying. I once asked a young server if the fried rice was good; he said yes. I tried it, and it was terrible. The house special fried rice was mushy and bland -- easily the worst dish. My brother had a celebration lunch for his daughter's 16th birthday at Thien An Bo 7 this past weekend. My Mom and I haven't been back here until now due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Anyway, I thought I do an updated review for this place since it has been a couple years. Staff is the same fun staff as before. Ambience is the same spacious restaurant as before. Prices have increased tremendously from low $20 to $30+ per 7 course beef. I still remember it being less than $15 per 7 course beef at one time in the past. Those days are definitely long gone... Since I stopped eating beef a few years back, I didn't eat any of the delicious beef from the course. I just ate the salad which was really good. I do miss my 7 course beef dishes. I used to love wrapping my beef with my veggies and dipping my roll in fish sauce. I can tell my family really enjoyed their 7 course beef lunch... nothing was left except 4 little meatballs LOL.
