Came here for the summer rolls and they were delicious and so refreshing! I love that there's no vermicelli inside, so you really get the fresh veggies and meat in every bite. The crispy roll added a nice bite to it, and the nước chấm was really good--just a little spicy, not too sweet and not too salty. The meats were very tender and flavorful, especially the lemongrass chicken, and nothing tasted overcooked or burnt despite being charbroiled. They're also really generous with the meat portions! I definitely underestimated how filling these would be--by the second roll I was already getting full, and by the fourth my jaw was getting a workout because the wrapper is chewy Service was very friendly and the place has a comfortable, homey feel. They take your order at the table, then you go up front to pay. Plenty of parking in the lot, plus it's next to Paris Baguette, Bonchon, Half & Half and other spots, so there's a little something for everyone nearby. Definitely coming back!
Overall experience here was a 10/10. Totally FANTASTIC!!! I would recommend this place to all the Summer Roll Fans. The service here was great and amazing! They were very helpful and welcoming when we walked in. The ambiance here was nice and fresh. I would definitely be back here some time soon to try other delicious menu items they have.
I'm typically not seeking Vietnamese food unless it's referred by others as really good or tasty as I wasn't much into Pho. My friend however spoke highly about Summer Rolls so there we were. Got their vermicelli bowl with Nem Pork, shrimp cakes, and shrimp egg rolls. Way bigger portion than I expected as pictures we saw didn't do justice. The pork certainly a game changer, so flavorful and came as just perfect texture. Also don't skip the chili sauce and chili oil on the table as they're such awesome complements. As the name called Summer Rolls, felt illegal to skip their summer rolls. We got the one with nem pork for sharing and I was so impressed with the abundant stuffing especially finding the crispy rolls inside it as well. Wanna try something peculiar, we did go for the rice cakes with crispy pork skin and shrimp on top, and they didn't disappoint.
Summer Rolls third location/concept. This location serves the iconic nem rolls and all other classic from the original location. This location does serve alcoholic drinks. Nem rolls - iconic, flavorful, warm, delicious. You can't go wrong with ordering this Banh Hoi plate - basically a deconstructed spring roll without rice paper. You use lettuce to make a roll instead. Banh mi - made with a bread roll kinda bread instead of a baguette. The different bread was nice and soft but yet still kind of crispy. Service was fast, restaurant was nice and clean. Would definitely come back!
This place has the best spring rolls and most selections. There are just so many to pick from, steam shrimp, grilled shrimp, salmon belly, grilled chicken, grilled beef etc. The spring rolls wrap skin is unlike other places. Its chewy and smooth. The sauces are great too. They have diff type to pair up with diff rolls. The atmosphere is ok but spacious.
The summer rolls here are great! Some of the best I've had in the SGV region. They're quite big and are filled to the max with ingredients. 10/10! Also had their Pork Shoulder Rice plate. The flavors are great, definitely a classic staple that is done right. Portion sizes are also great. Do note, they don't accept AMEX.
Worth the Parking Struggle! The only downside to trying this new spot? The parking! We thought Summer Rolls in Temple City had a rough parking situation... this one somehow topped it! Around 7 PM, the plaza was absolutely packed with so many cute restaurants, so we ended up parking on the street. Thankfully, dinner made the extra walk completely worth it. We're huge Summer Rolls fans, so I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and tonight was finally the night! #36 Charbroiled Pork Shoulder with Shrimp Cake & Shredded Pork $16.50 Rating: 9/10 Let me tell you... the char on this pork was phenomenal! It had that beautiful smoky flavor that only comes from perfectly grilled meat. Huge kudos to the chef because this was honestly one of the best charbroiled pork dishes I've had. Not too much fat in it, so it was perfect. But can we also take a moment to appreciate the broken rice? I'm usually not the biggest rice dish person because most places simply serve regular steamed rice... but this broken rice? It could honestly un-break a broken heart. It was light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. It paired so perfectly with that smoky pork that I found myself finishing every last grain without even realizing it. And one more thing... BEWARE of the spicy sauté sauce! I repeat... do NOT scoop a giant spoonful onto your rice or your Bún Bò Huế like I confidently did with my 2 spoonfuls of rice since we were sharing! That thing has some serious kick! But once my taste buds recovered... wow, it hit HARD in the best way possible. It added so much depth and flavor that I kept going back for more. I've honestly never had a Vietnamese spot with a spicy sauté sauce quite like this, and it definitely hit the spot! Although it isn't your traditional cơm tấm loaded with all the usual sides, this restaurant puts a more modern spin on the dish. There may be fewer components on the plate, but every bite was packed with flavor. I'd honestly rank their charbroiled pork even above Summer Rolls, and that's saying a lot! #5 Nem Spring Rolls $14.00 Rating: 9.5/10 If you're coming here and skipping these... you're doing yourself a disservice! I've been eating at the original Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa across from Rosemead High School since 2009, and it honestly makes me so happy that this family-owned business has kept the same incredible recipe all these years. Over 20 years later, they've truly mastered it, carrying the recipe into Summer Rolls & now Nem. Love this family dynamic secret. I even met the owner, Mai, during our visit. We both looked at each other and laughed because we thought the other looked familiar. Maybe it's because I've been coming to the original location since my high school days! She was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. As much as Summer Rolls has been our go-to these past few years... I think they're going to have to share the spotlight now. We'll definitely be coming back because my mission is officially to work my way through this entire menu! The service was warm and friendly, the restaurant is modern, beautiful, and spotless, and overall this was such a wonderful experience. Happy eats!
This is one of the restaurants from the summer rolls family. Found out they don't all have the same exact menu so now I can say that this one is my favorite. - bahn beo (so fresh, best in the neighborhood) 5/5 - salmon belly spring rolls (this is the only place I've ever had this protein in the spring rolls and it's divine! Cooked perfectly. Baked on the outside for a bit of crisp but not overly drying out the salmon) 5/5 - pork shoulder vermicelli (holy moly! Huge bowl, soft meat, just delicious) 5/5 - pork shoulder rice plate (extremely generous portions) 5/5 This place is huge, I've been lucky and have never had to wait but I imagine a white would never be long if there was one
Nem by summer rolls This was my second visit. Both times I got com (rice) dish. I think it's better than the pho. The bun bo hue here is better than the pho too. They're known for spring rolls / summer rolls. The rolls are dense and packed! They are generous with the dipping sauce. I wish they added peanuts. Service is ok. You pay at the register after the meal; they don't bring you the check. Bathroom is in the back. Parking lot is free, but it gets full most of the time. It feels tight to get around.
Our friends recommended this place. We saw the size of the plates on the tables around and decided that the two of us could share one plate and add on sour pork summer rolls. We got #38- charbroiled lemongrass chicken, steamed egg with minced pork and shredded pork skin. Super yummy! It was just enough for both of us - with the summer roll. The restaurant was busy during a weekday lunch. It seems to be a hangout for people who have flexible day time schedules. Located in a popular strip mall, so parking is a challenge. 2 hour parking on the street available on the streets in front and on the side.
This is my first time at this location, while I was always at the Rosemead and Temple City locations. The parking here is a bit hard to find due to its location - it is in a strip mall with other popular restaurants. The location has a bit more space, but it will get crowded as the dining period approaches. I tried the egg roll and the rice dish. The egg rolls were delicious. It used rice paper instead of the regular egg roll paper, which I think is better. The rice dish was with char-boiled pork, steamed egg, and shredded pork. The pork was cooked perfectly, and the items were good too. The service was attentive and polite.
Such a yummy meal! My friend and I got the Nem Nuong Summer Rolls (for 2) and the Ban Xeo. Definitely a lot of food for just the two of us, but we finished it with full bellies. The Ban Xeo was so delish and crispy. It also had a good amount of seafood! The Nem Nuong was also good, but nothing you can't get anywhere else. I will say it is on the pricier side, but everything was super tasty so I'd for sure come back. Service was also great. The staff brought us extra veggies and we were seated fast upon our arrival.
The SGV might not be as blessed as the OC when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants, but Nem is a great addition! The family who runs it is super sweet. My table ordered the bahn mi and the filet mignon pho. Bahn mi was great. The ciabatta bread was a nice twist: no way you can cut the roof of your mouth with this softer bread. The runny egg added a nice extra layer of flavor. Filet mignon pho - my friend who ordered it is a pho fiend. She really enjoyed it and said it was a solid bowl of pho. I wish my group wanted to try some of the summer rolls, but maybe next time I'm here! I spied the other table getting a big basket of herbs to pair with their food. Parking can be tough during peak times, but the food and service are totally worth it!

This review is mostly based on my husband's experience, since he had been wanting to try Nem by Summer Rolls for quite some time. We live about 35 miles away on the west side, so it's definitely a bit of a drive. But on 9/26, we finally had the chance to visit, and I'm really glad we did. One of the first things that made the visit special was meeting Mai (according to the receipt). She took the time to talk with my husband, complimented his name, and made him feel genuinely welcomed as a first-time customer. It may seem like a small thing, but those personal touches really do make a difference. We ordered everything to go, and we were very happy with both the food and the service. The #5 Pork Nem Roll was outstanding. I've been eating the Nem Nướng Cuốn (grilled pork spring rolls) from Brodard in Fountain Valley for a long time, and that has always been the standard I compare other pork rolls to. Some of my family members live nearby and often bring them when they visit us. Nem's pork roll was a little more expensive, but I have to say, the grilled pork was huge. The roll was plump, generously filled, and had plenty of fresh ingredients. I really enjoyed it and would happily give it 5 stars. For comparison, Brodard would be 4.5 stars in my book. We also tried the Banh Mi, which was something different for us -- charbroiled pork served on ciabatta bread. I really enjoyed it as well. I honestly wish we lived closer because there are so many other things on the menu I'd love to try. Hopefully, it won't be too long before we make the drive back. What I appreciated most was the genuine kindness throughout the visit. When my husband was leaving, Mai thanked him and called him by name. That little gesture really stayed with us. It made the experience feel personal rather than just another takeout order. Thank you, Mai, and everyone at Nem by Summer Rolls. We're looking forward to coming back. read more

Some of the best spring rolls in town, in SGV, aka all of LA! Really enjoyed our experience here. We got sat fairly quickly and the restaurant was bustling/busy, yet no one waiting for a table. Ambiance was a little higher than casual, and you can taste the quality. Was craving good spring rolls and that's exactly what we got! Will come again! read more
Came here on a sunday with a group of 5. Ordered different summer rolls since my cousins only have basic shrimp where they are at. We ordered nem nuong (pork), beef, and salmon. They said they gave us beef and when we tried it, it was definitely pork. But since there was 5 of us, we basically all tried one piece. The shrimp orange sauce is always amazing. Especially when you add hot sauce in it. The banh beo also took along time to come out. We finished all of the summer rolls before it came out. Bur at least it was yummy and fresh. Since the food is still good regardless of the mess up, i didnt dock much stars. read more

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants at the moment. This spot is just as good as Summer Rolls in Temple City, maybe even better. It has a clean and modern feel inside the restaurant. Both the food and service were outstanding. Pho is exclusive to this location, so my husband and I really wanted to try it out. We shared the house special beef noodle soup containing filet mignon, well-cooked beef, soft tendon, and beef tripe (pho dac biet). The broth was hot and flavorful, the noodles were the perfect texture, and all the ingredients seemed fresh. We also had the dry vermicelli with charbroiled sliced pork shoulder, shrimp egg rolls, and shrimp cake. The portion of this was quite big. I really enjoyed the pork, which had a smoky, caramelized flavor. The shrimp egg rolls added a wonderful crunchy texture to the entire dish. Very delicious! Pork nem summer rolls are an absolute MUST. This is their signature item for obvious reasons. Each order includes 4 rolls and is served with a sweet and savory orange sauce. The pork was really juicy and tasteful with fine grill marks. Every ingredient rolled up in the rice paper complemented one another perfectly. read more
A new Summer Rolls spot in SGV and this one is just as good compared to the one located in Temple City. Upon entering, there's a Yelp waitlist kiosk for when it's packed which is already a huge plus. Parking is free and plentiful in a busy plaza, plenty of other popular shops/restaurants in same plaza. First impressions is that the restaurant is very welcoming. Great vibes overall. My wife and I were greeted by staff and seated immediately. As we were scanning through the menu, we noted that this location has Pho options while the other location doesn't have any. We ordered quickly and our food arrived fairly quickly as well, pleasantly surprised as the restaurant was quite busy. We ordered the Charbroiled Beef Vermicelli, Pho Dac Biet, and some classic Summer Rolls which is a MUST whenever visiting. Pho Dac Biet is such a classic dish to get, as good as any standard pho can get. I was pretty addicted to the broth as it wasn't too salty. Portions are quite big and there's no size adjustments, 10/10. The Charbroiled Beef Vermicelli is another classic dish to order. Presentation on this dish is spectacular and is a white overwhelming with the amount of ingredients on the plate. Each bite is full of flavor no matter what combination of ingredients you go with. The beef is tender and not too tough, very easy to eat as well. 10/10 Class summer rolls is of course, their signature dish to order. Providing with 4 full pieces, easily a shareable dish. Highly recommend to order every visit as a dish to share or as a snack. The rolls are always well made and portioned really nicely as well. 10/10 Overall, a wonderful new spot to SGV, such a wonderful place to visit in Temple City and now there's one in SGV. Background On Nem By Summer Rolls: The owners are related to Summer Rolls in Rosemead, but they run the shop individually. Background On Visit: Was craving a pork belly rice bowl from Half And Half Good Old Time, but didn't realize that they closed on Tuesdays. I scanned the whole plaza and decided to try this place out instead. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restrooms: They have one unisex restroom. Location/Parking: Located in a plaza on the SE corner of Mission Rd. and Las Tunas. Next to Paris Baguette. Parking can be found in the plaza's shared lot or you can park on the street. Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with modern furnishings. Service: Service was alright. The owner's husband, Devin, was friendly and informational about the shop. I also believe I've played pickleball with him at Live Oak Park before. I'll have to strike up another conversation with at a later time. Food Of Choice: I've tried one item (BBH $16) so far and I thought it was quite good. The only negative is that there was less protein. Would be nice if they had more meat. Nem By Summer Rolls For Thought: I would be open to visit again. read more

The restaurant menu has alot of options affordable priced around $15. The food is delicious, good portions and service was good. Will be coming back to try their pho. They have a tablet at the entrance to join their waitlist. Downside would the parking in the plaza shared by other restaurants. For the table, we ordered 2 of their Chef's special. One was the banh xeo - savory crepe crispy on the outside and seafood inside. Second was banh beo - steamed rice cake with grounded shrimp and fried pork skin on top. It takes 20 mins to serve. Our table also went with unwrapped and prewrapped Vietnamese rolls. The house special skewers is prewrapped with charbroiled pork and shrimp egg rolls. It was a very fun experience to wrap and make your own roll with the rice paper and herbs/greens. The wrapped rolls were their signature summer rolls and we went for the lemongrass beef. read more

This is my third time here. I remember loving it the first and second time. But that was quite a while ago. Also, not sure if anything changed because this time was a big disappointment. My hubby and I arrived at 5:30 pm on July 3rd (Friday). We got lucky that there was a table available and we were seated right away. In a short while, the place was packed and not a single table was empty. We both ordered the bun cha - mine was the charbroiled pork and his was the charbroiled beef. This dish is a cold vermicelli salad with lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, Thai basil, two pieces of shrimp egg roll, shrimp cake and crushed peanuts. Each order was $16. When our order arrived, we were shocked to see two pieces of grilled sausages, instead of actual pork and/or beef. In all the other Vietnamese restaurants we've been, this dish would have actual bbq pork and/or beef slices, not sausages. The sausages were flavorful but had a gummy texture. This felt like a switch and bait. We also wished there were more veges such as lettuce, carrots and bean sprouts. The egg rolls were very crispy but I did not taste the shrimp filling. It tasted like mostly fried egg roll wrapper. The shrimp cake was good and the dressing was nice, but alas! They were not enough to save the dish. I do not like giving negative reviews but I gotta keep it honest. A lot of people obviously like to eat here because the tables are constantly turning over - as soon as a party leaves, new ones would immediately replace them. Maybe their other dishes were better? I was expecting a little more, but it honestly felt pretty similar to Summer Rolls on Las Tunas The food, service, and prices were all still really good though. I'm not super familiar with the difference between summer rolls and nem, so I was hoping there'd be a few dishes on the menu that you couldn't already get at Summer Rolls. That said, I really liked the atmosphere here. The recessed lighting and modern wall panels made it feel a lot more stylish and trendy. I'd definitely come back if they added a few more unique menu items that set them apart. read more
This location is great except parking, parking is extremely rare and tight. The food is delicious and you can find options around $15. They also serve beer here so it's a nice well rounded restaurant. The bun no hue was excellent even though this place is better known for their rolls, instead of pork trotter there was thick slices of pork instead which might be arguably easier to eat. read more
Very small parking lot shared with other establishments. Next to Paris Baquette. Upon entering, there were a lot of open tables and youre given a menu. Noise level was average and there werent many people dining in at the time. My husband really enjoyed his bowl and I did, but I ordered the wrong thing. Oh well, next time. The price was a little on the higher end, but the ingredients were fresh and it was plenty. We got our check but had to pay at the cashier. They dont take it for you. read more
I've had the Summer Rolls in Temple City and I absolutely loved their banh mi, which was served on two runny eggs and a square shaped baguette. When I found out that San Gabriel also had a Nem by Summer Rolls, I knew I had to come give it a try. I came with some colleagues on a weekend. The restaurant is very clean and bright. We arrived at around 11:30 AM, and by noon the restaurant was completely full and there were long waits. The staff kept asking us to place our orders ASAP, perhaps because they were expecting the eventual rush of customers. I eventually did order the 33, which was a grilled pork chop with broken rice and also an egg crepe. The food came out fairly quickly. The pork chop was solid, but slightly firm. The broken rice was standard. The egg was fluffy and tasty. The side vinegar was slightly spicy and went well with everything. read more

Really good spot and the price is pretty decent for the portion. This was my second time eating at this location and I have to say I'm impressed. I live close by so it makes it a lot easier to walk to and don't need to come during the weekend when there's usually a longer wait. I'll be back! read more
Everything we got was delicious and the portion size was amazing! Everyone was pleasantly surprised by their order, not a single miss. The interior felt clean and modern while playing a bunch of old Cantonese hits, definitely someone's dad's Playlist. Very nostalgic. The banh xeo was crispy on the outside and filled with seafood on the inside, it was my first time trying it and im a fan now. I cant wait to come back again already, the service was also great the lady was friendly and kept checking on us to refill water. read more

Came here on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating. I got #23: Bun Nem Nuong, Cha Ram, and Dau Hu Ky. It was still very delicious and consistent with Summer Rolls. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the egg rolls were crispy. The fish sauce here doesn't taste as strong compared to Summer Rolls, but it is still good. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy. There are also more food options at this place but one downside of this place is the parking. It has a medium sized parking lot, but it is also shared with other restaurants. The place has a more modern vibe and is much more spacious, however, service is okay. Otherwise, I thought this place was still good. I would only be back if I am craving something that isn't on the Summer Rolls menu. read more
