Really good food with subpar service you'd expect to find in the 626. The deliciousness of the food outweigh the service by far. They didn't refill our water once and basically ignored us lol The free soup at the beginning is a nice touch and the meat is big. The com tam king deluxe special is seriously so good and huuge in portions. This can be easily shared with two people. Parking is slightly annoying and ended up parking at the Hawaii supermarket lot

I was really craving com tam the other night and decided to come here. I've never actually dined in, but this has been one of my go to spots for good com tam. I always order the King Special which lets you pick your meats. I usually go with the pork chop since it feels the most classic. The plate is huge and pretty much comes with every com tam item they offer, and I like all of them so it works out perfectly. It also comes with soup and honestly the portion is big enough to be 2 to 3 meals for me. I usually call my order in and it's ready by the time I get there which I appreciate. Solid spot for com tam and I know I'll be back again.

Was driving on Valley Blvd the other day and noticed King Com Tam. It's located right next Hawaii Supermarket and if you know you know. The parking lot feels like you're fighting with everyone and it's notorious for getting random dents on your car. I steered clear of this and was able to find street parking along Valley. I had called maybe 20 minutes before coming in to pick up my order and just read their menu numbers back to them to prevent any miscommunications. I ordered the Banh Hoi Bo, Tau Hu Ky which is thin vermicelli paties with grilled beef, bean curd skin with shrimp. There was a good amount of vermicelli patties with my order, I think more than what other places put. The grilled beef was tender and matched perfectly with their fish sauce. I really enjoyed the bean curd skin with shrimp. There was a crunchy piece (not sure what it was) with every bite which added a nice texture. My family ordered eggrolls as an appetizer and the skin had a nice crunch and the filling was delicious. They pack their vegetables and fish sauce on the side. I did sneak a bite of their rice and it was what you would expect com tam to be like. My parents were able to share their King Special Combo with a side of red rice and it was definitely enough food to share between them. They let you pick between their different protein of pork, beef, and chicken.

King Com Tam is a decent com tam spot in the SGV area. I came here with my parents on the weekend. We ate there at around noon and it was definitely busy. However, we were able to grab a table quickly. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. For parking, street parking is usually difficult to grab off of valley. I did park at the Hawaii Supermarket and walked over. My mom, dad, and I all got our own com tam orders. We all enjoy our dishes! This was surprising since my mom tends to think a lot of restaurant orders are on the saltier side. Portions were very generous and we had to even grab a takeout box. I also ordered the Ca Phe Sua Da as well; it was a bit more on the bitter side. There was also a small included and it was okay. Prices came out to be roughly $21.00 per dish. They do not accept American Express. VISA cards were accepted.

Back in October, my friends and I spent a month vacation in Vietnam and we were introduced to Com Tam. We wanted to see if King Com Tam Vietnamese Restaurant is as authentic as we had in Vietnam. Com tam - Vietnamese broken rice is rice that was broken during the milling process. If you're unfamiliar, broken rice has a couscous-like texture. The broken rice plate options might seem extensive, but it's just rice with various combinations of pork chop, beef, pork, fried bean curd with shrimp paste, egg roll, sausage, shredded pork and skin, and steamed egg loaf. All served with veggies, a small bowl of broth, and fish dipping sauce. The plates run from $12.99 to $20.99 for the 10-item plate. If you don't see exactly the plate combination you're looking for, you can just tell the waiter which items you want and they'll charge accordingly. Just ask if you can swap items. Not Vietnam authentic, but then again I am no expert but definitely satisfied our cravings and brought back memories of our month long trip. We loved it so much that a month ago during the rainy weather that we went back so we can try the noodle soup/pho. The portions were generous for around $13.99 a bowl. I was craving Bun bo Hue, Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup and my friends ordered beef pho and hu tieu, a Vietnamese Phnom Penh-style seafood noodle soup with pork and shrimp. It was good but I've had better. Service was good. The ambiance and presentation is spot on.

This restaurant is commanded by my friend. The price for the items are decent. The 10 items King Cơm Tấm special combo broken rice is our favorite. This one enough to serve 2 people. I highly recommend this.

King Com Tam is a solid Vietnamese restaurant and feels pretty authentic. I ordered the Com Tam King Special Combo, which comes with 10 items. I'm not super familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, so I wanted to try a bunch of different bites. Honestly, I didn't think the meal was that special overall, but the grilled pork chop was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It was also a great value, and I had enough leftovers to eat again for dinner.

Located next to Hawaii supermarket in San Gabriel. They dont have a parking lot of their own, so you can find street parking right in front or park in the market's parking lot. My family wanted to come here and I know very little Vietnamese. Im a picky eater so I tried to explain what I wanted, but the server who was a kind gentleman, tried to be funny and sassy with me and my parents, kept interrupting me. I wanted plain bun with eggrolls and the pork chop. Their spring rolls were okay, but their meatball one was better, especially their sauce. Their other plates that you have to build were huge. I just wished that my bun bowl contained more vermicelli. They brought out my order and I noticed all the nuts and pickled radishes, which are not my favorite, so they took it back and gave me a new one. Id say im going to blame my mom for interrupting my order request. Ambiance was quiet, casual, and plenty of chairs. The staff is really nice and we will come back.

Our friends invited us to lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was very bight and clean. In true Vietnamese restaurant style, Immediately after sitting down (not having even opened the menus yet), the servers asked if we were ready to order--I jest but I always find this amusing. The menu was fairly typical, listing a number of broken rice with all the various sides and combinations thereof. They also had some pho and dry vermicelli options as well. Our party came for the broken rice and it's what we all ordered. The staff here is very friendly and offered candy to the kids in our party (factory sealed hard candies). I couldn't decide what to eat so I ordered the option that came with everything (10 sides) and split it with my partner. The food came out in a timely manner and was nice and hot. The egg rolls all came out crispy. I think my only complaint would be that I wish they were more generous with the fish sauce portions (they did provide extra dishes upon request but the dishes were small). Such a minor gripe but just saying. :) Would highly recommend King Com Tam. PS - you may park in the Hawaiian Market parking lot for King Com Tam, may still be tight. Felt like we almost got hit multiple time going into and leaving the parking lot.

Ayooooo! So I was craving Vietnamese grilled Pork Chops and stumbled upon this place. The Food was amazing! Grilled pork chop cooked to perfection and fried egg rolls were amazing with the Fish Sauce dipping sauce that was Sweet, Sour and Salty with Umami. Street Parking, Lots of seating inside. Beaware that they only accept a certain amount for Card Payment so be prepared with Cash. Staff was so friendly and place was very clean including the bathrooms.

With com tam, it is hard to make sure it is right. This spot is able to make sure it's right. This spot may not be the best but for the food quality and no wait, I would take this place over their competitors. The ambiance feels like your typical Vietnamese restaurants. Staff here is very nice and attentive.

San Gabriel Valley, CA. Ive been visiting various Viet restos in the SGV as it is close to me and i love Viet food. KCT is as authentic as it gets. So authentic, you smell the cooking flavors akin to kitchens in Vietnam. The ambience is that of a larger resto than you'd see in the SGV, about 100 seats. While we were there there was a party, employees from the Sheraton across the street, about 35 pre-ordered their lunch so tables were briskly serviced. I loved the food and authenticity, loved the service, and loved the vibe. Will return. Perhaps the stars will go up after multiple visits. End of Yelp.

#64 Broken Rice w/ Shredded Pork, Prok Chop, Steamed Egg, and Bean Curd Skin Shrimp
    Lucy M.

Broken Rice here has great portions and value here. Clear soup provided on the side. Spring rolls are worth a try here; they include chives inside. The sauce had sprinkles of meat inside. Take out orders came out fast and had neat packaging. They packed the shredded pork (for the rice separately with soy bean dust -- to keep it from sticking together I assume) and the pickles (for the rolls) were in a separate bag. Small down side is that there's a $20 min purchase if you were to pay with card.

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.
