I have been dining at this restaurant since I was a little girl. When I used to live here, I would go weekly with my family. It is a traditional authentic Vietnamese restaurant. They have really good family style set meals which is what we always order. We ordered the 6 items set menu for $55 (serves around 4 people) which is soo worth it and the portions are so generous. They have smaller family style sets for cheaper. We always have extra and take it togo. It comes with sweet and sour tamarind catfish (my #1 favorite), caramelized catfish soup (you can switch it to pork), fried fish (or you can do salted shrimp), and choice of salad so we got the jellyfish pork shrimp cucumber salad (can also switch for chicken salad). Their fish sauce is soo good. They have complimentary pickled mustards greens as an appetizer and this delicious coconut dessert to finish off the dinner. They don't charge for rice refills either. Service is very quick and efficient. The kind servers basically know us and have our order memorized to a T haha. We don't even have to tell them our order anymore and they always account for my peanut allergy. I cannot stop raving about this restaurant and ALWAYS stop by when I am in town. Husband and I usually get the two-person set and we often can't finish the dinner set. Last time we came we decided to get a la carte items: vermicelli with grilled pork sausage and egg rolls plus a rice dish. We always come here for their catfish set Menu. This is a pretty specific menu that isn't really offered elsewhere (that I know of). The meal starts with a salad of some sort (varies between jellyfish or a shrimp and pork), deep fried pomfret, braised caramel catfish (or pork) dish, Vietnamese tamarind soup with catfish, deep fried shrimp, and brined greens. Previously, you could refill the broth for the soup, but this may have been taken advantage of. You now can refill the broth for an additional cost. Always a satisfying meal. read more

Used to come here a decade ago when it was super busy. Traditional Southern Vietnamese food. Ample free parking in the back. We had to exchange some "clean" dishes since they were dirty with food particles. Always get the Cơm Phần Gia Đình or Family Meal. We got the Cơm Phần 2 Người or Served 2 persons for $27. The Canh Chua Cá or Hot & Sour Fish Soup was very flavorful. The Cá Kho Tộ or Salted Fish in Clay Pot tasted great with the white rice. The Gỏi Sữa or Jelly Fish Sour Salad had no jelly fish, it had sliced pork. The Dưa Chua or Preserved Sour Vegetable was very tasty and crispy. We also got the Bò Lúc Lắc or Diced Beef Steak French Style for $11.95. Interesting the dish tasted sweet. We got a drink that was pretty good for about $4. I would say they have a good variety of what kind of rice plate you want. The one I ordered came with beef and egg. Like any traditional vietnamese broken rice, there was a small side of cucumbers and pickled veggies. However, I was a little disappointed that this restaurant does not serve soup on the side when ordering broken rice so after eating several bites of the rice, it was difficult to swallow. It is super affordable and very filling. I believe the four person combo is now around $46 which is about $12 per person. It comes with five dishes, a side of rice, and dessert at the end. I would recommend getting this over the individual orders. Food: 5/5 The food was bursting with flavor. My favorite was the thit kho (clay pot pork). The sauce was sweet, salty, and umami and it goes so well with a bowl of warm rice. The soup was very nostalgic for me because it reminded me of my mom's cooking. The family dinner is always my go to order. Chicken salad is very refreshing. Cat fish soup is sour and a bit spicy, but it is surprisingly smoothing! The clay pot fish is the best, and I always request for more source! The fish was never over cooked. The fish and the source are perfectly match. I am not a big fan of bo luc lac. A hidden gem. If you've come upon this review you have to try it. This place offers value and quality food. The value is the sour soup family meals- we alternate between the two people ($30) and the four people ($50) meals. The difference with the four people is of course bigger portions and an extra fried fish. It comes with a side of pickled mustard veggies, a choice between chicken cabbage salad or jellyfish salad, a braised catfish casserole (the saltier flavor profile) rice and a sour soup hot pot. The two people meal is perfect, but the four people meal is enough for three and left overs for the next day. The flavors is consistently good, my family frequents this place quite often. This is my family togo spot for Canh Chua. We always get the 4-person meal set where it includes the sweet sour veggie fish soup, marinated fish, fried fish, and a side dish of classic semi pickled vegetable (its a classic vietnamese appetizer that I don't remember the name for). We usually swap the appetizer for the meat cubes instead. The soup is the best here as it not too pinapply or sweet. I like it more on the umami sour side. It also has a good portion of catfish inside The meat cubes are a nice appetizer where you can eat it with the veggies it comes with and just tip it in salt pepper with lemon. The marinated fish is super good too as the sauce goes with everything you can take it home and eat it with porridge if you have leftovers, so good. For the fried fish, they give you ginger fish sauce that goes well with the skin yum yum. All these for under $100 is very good. This place is an insanely good value. And idk the decor gives me a sense of nostalgia so I lik This place is known for its com phan or shared family meal. The lowest tier one is recommended for two people and is $26.99 can comes with goi, canh chua ca, and ca kho with cai muji dua. So a shredded cabbage and carrot salad, sour fish soup, clay pot braised catfish, a pot of rice, and dessert. The shredded cabbage and carrot salad had a really nice crunch and acidity. It has shredded chicken bits in it and is tossed in fish sauce. It was addicting. The canh chua I didn't try but my parents enjoyed it. Be patient and let the soup come to a simmer in front of you. We were impatient so we kept opening the lid to Che k ok. The fish and that meant it took longer to warm up and cook. I think the fish comes half cooked. It needs to finish cooking in the hot pot they bring to your table. It's an open flame so we careful if you have kids with you. Lastly the ca kho with Cai muoi dua. The Kay fish was bubbling in its caramel used sauce. It was tender and the skin still soft. Perfect with a bowl of rice. Use the pickled greens/ Cai muoi dua to scrape up the carmelized sauce on the pot. So the cool thing is if you're not a fan of a certain protein, you can swap it out for another one. The salad was originally supposed to be with jellyfish. For the sour soup you can get shrimp instead and and for the carmelized clay for fish you can get a pork version. So me, in not a big fan of the sour soup canh chua and I knew I was just going to pick at the fish a bit and have some salad so I got Com tam thit nuong cha tau hu ky. So I'm gonna tell you know, broken rice dish I had was nothing to write home about EXCEPT for the tau hu ky part. The tau hu ky was the star of the dish. I should have known since they sell it by itself. Shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd and fried to perfection. Still crisp. Good shrimp to bean curd ration. Not super oily. The grilled pork was okay. I will just say you must try this restaurant it is absolutely delicious. My favorite dish is number #153 I highly recommend this to everyone. Believe me when I say this place is really really good. While it only has 3 stars on yelp, honestly, I feel that authentic Asian places are usually 3 stars. They're usually cheap and no frills, but FULL FLAVOR.
