My favorite place for pho ga! The broth tastes like the homemade clear light chicken soup my asian mom would make growing up, and the chicken is very tender. The soup always comes out piping hot, and the rice noodles are wider than regular pho noodles. The dipping sauce that comes with the chicken is tangy and gingery, and it's my healing soul food whenever I'm feeling under the weather. I kind of skip the plate of bean sprouts and lime they give you because they don't always look that fresh, but the soup doesn't need it anyways. I've had their egg rolls, banh cuon, and bun cha Hanoi, which are all delicious too, but I usually just order the pho ga (regular small size) because I can't finish more than that. They have clean bathrooms at the back of the restaurant and a good amount of tables inside. Do note that if you sit more towards the back near the kitchen, it may smell stronger (probably from fish sauce and chicken). I've been here multiple times before writing this review and I always order their hainan chicken with rice. There's one with dark meat and one with white meat. I randomly pick one depending on how I'm feeling. The chicken is always delicious. They definitely use some active chickens because the meat is always firm and slightly springy, defining feature of open area raised chickens. Their consistency in cooking rice is what makes me give them a 3 star. Some days, the rice is too soggy (overcooked) or too dry and tough (undercooked). Rarely will I ever get rice that is decent. The rice vermicelli noodles were about the size of spaghetti, not really soft or silky like some other Vietnamese bun noodles, but a little more chewy. The broth, even before I spruced it up with all the condiments, was wonderful. It was light yet with well rounded flavor, not too oily, but tart and sour, a tiny bit sweet, and spicy from the addition of fresh chilies. Have gone there multiple times by now. This is a no frills but very homey place. It feels like going home to your mom, grandma, auntie home cooked food. The food is on the blander side but still very very good. The chicken pho is the highlight. The sauces are great to add flavor to the chicken. the appettizers like spring rolls and eggrolls are about at par to most Vietnamese places. I am just meh with their salad options (tried both the chicken and the papaya w/beef qnd liver/tripe). the hainan chicken and rice is decently good but not as good as Savoy or Cluck to Go. I think the service is good as the staff there treat my family and I like family. They engage my kids and always come by to check up on us (def 5 star service). Pho Ga - Large $11.80 -Chicken with Rice Noodles 2. Bun Rieu - Large $11.80 -Crab Roe, Pork & Egg Meatballs and Tomatoes with Rice Vermicelli Noodles I ordered the Bun Rieu and wasn't too impressed. The soup was definitely on the lighter side and leaned more acidic and sour (which makes sense since it's a tomato-based soup). I just wished it had more of a sweet flavor from the crab/seafood so I thought it was lacking in that department. The portion was big - like large is big but it was mainly a lot of soup and not that many noodles. The meatballs were very soft and kind of disintegrated. Overall the dish was decent but not amazing. I've previously ordered the Pho Ga and thought it was tasty. I remember the soup was also on the lighter side but that's where hoi sin sauce and sriracha come into play! We had our discipleship meeting here and I noticed that they were closing at around 7:30 PM, which was surprising since Yelp listed 8:30 PM.
