Delicious Pho Ga!
Bill M.

I was in the mood for some good hot chicken soup on this chilly marine layer morning and the delicious pho ga served here filled that need perfectly. The broth was very tasty and the poached chicken was great albeit big chunks. On the side, were bean sprouts, jalapeno slices and a wonderful gingery dipping sauce. The ladies were very friendly and gracious. The place looked clean and attended to. I left feeling full and happy. Looking forward to coming back and trying more things!

Not sure why this spot has such low ratings. I have a pretty ok experience. The restaurant doesn't look super clean but there was literally a lady cleaning the whole time we were there. The food was good (as expected) since we ordered half a chicken and sides of rice and noodles. And the Banh cuon was delish!! I'm actually thinking abt it again right now lol the ladies that work there were super nice and attentive with everything.

To go (covid-19). LARGE pho ga. It was okay

Cash only. Wow. This place is possibly the worse pho ga spot I've ever been to. I hate to say this but it was (without exaggeration) watered down tasteless broth. On top of this, the flat noodles were very low quality where they break easily and were not "silky" like fresh noodles should be. The chicken was good albeit extremely stingy. When you ask for a large, it is $1 more. Sorry but no.

Pho ga is one of my favorite comfort foods. We came for dinner today as a family of 6. This place used to be busier but it was pretty empty when we went. I ordered a large bowl of noodles to split with the hubs, and also a whole chicken to split with the fam. The noodle soup wasn't hot enough and also tasted a little bland, but I still really enjoyed it. The chicken had a lot of small bones that I had to keep spitting out. They are pretty generous with the sauce portions. Overall a pretty decent pho ga place that I wouldn't mind going again.

What's up: In the mood for pho? How about chicken pho? This is the place to get just that since they're famous for having really good chicken! Parking: Located in Mission Village, parking is shared among the nearby businesses. A lot of spots are small/compact, so keep an eye out or you might not fit lol. Environment: We were seated and given menus upon arrival. Lucky us, we came right before the dinner crowd. Tea is complementary when dining in. The place was nice and had a large mural on the side of the wall. What was ordered: - Egg Rolls (good) - Pho Ga (chicken is really good) - Pho Tai Ga (mix of beef and chicken) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Overall, the food was good. Chicken was not dry at all and very good. Staff members were friendly. Credit cards are accepted.

Chicken noodle soup here was okay, the broth had good flavor. It great comfort food for a rainy day. The service here was quick and efficient.

Broth was amazing and cleansing. Much lighter than beef pho. Chicken was very tender like Hainan style. Service was fast and attentive. Ambiance was great with the massive art work depicting the hustle bustle culture of Vietnam.

Delicious vermicelli chicken noodles here! Chicken is tender and the broth is flavorful. The owners are also very friendly.

Pretty solid and authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The food came out quick and was good! The bun rieu was flavorful and light- not too salty. The small was just the right size. The banh cuon was good as well but I wish the filling had more protein.

BEST PHO GA IN LOS ANGELES.. PERIODT. If you're looking for the best bowl of chicken pho, this is your spot. The broth is SO overwhelmingly delicious - it's clearly been brewed for long periods of time. You can taste the high quality chicken in the soup (it has a slight herbal taste, pretty sure they use game hen/high quality chicken). It comes with the slightly wider, fresh pho noodles (not the thin kind you usually see) which is another bonus. Love how soft and delicious the fresh kind of pho noodles taste. Although I typically get beef pho when craving pho, that's not because I like it much more than chicken pho. It's because it's just so much harder to find legit chicken pho since it seems to be less sought out in the los angeles greater area. Besides their chicken pho, I've only ordered 1 other item - appetizer #10: Banh Cuon Tom Thit (steamed pork and shrimp rice noodle wraps with side of meatloaf). This was actually really good too - the rice noodles are thin and you can taste the freshness (not old rice noodles). There's a decent amount of pork & shrimp pieces within the rice rolls (but don't expect a huge chunk, because this dish isn't meant to have a massive amount of meats). Pho Ga - 10/10 Banh Cuon Tom Thit - 9/10 CASH ONLY!!! Bring yo cash and eat some delicious pho ga!

TLDR: small plaza (parking gets busy on weekends & during lunch rush), amazing ginger dipping sauce (refreshing, tangy, and perfectly complements the tender chicken) & chicken broth, first timer? - try a bowl of chicken pho or order 1/4-1/2 chicken + a bowl of noodles, TIP: sub the noodles for "lai fun" thick vermicelli noodles (I.e. bun bo hue noodles) This is a cozy haven for chicken pho (pho ga) enthusiasts like myself. With its no-frills, mom-and-pop ambiance, and efficient service, this spot delivers a satisfying dining experience from start to finish. As soon as you enter, you're greeted quickly and recommended to order ASAP. Within minutes, a piping hot bowl of noodles arrives at your table, boasting a flavorful broth with minimal MSG, leaving you feeling content rather than overly thirsty after your meal. What truly sets this place apart is its customizable noodle options; whether you prefer vermicelli or thin or thick rice noodles, the menu caters to your preferences, allowing you to create your perfect bowl of pho. While HP Pho Ga earns high marks for its delicious food and efficient service, a few hiccups have been noted with to-go orders. Despite these minor setbacks, the overall dining experience remains delightful, earning this spot a solid 4 out of 5 stars in my book. Remember to double-check your order, especially if it's to-go. Ensure they've included enough sauce and got your noodle substitutions right. It's a small hiccup in an otherwise stellar experience.

Dark hainan chicken with rice
Brandon S.

I've been here multiple times before writing this review and I always order their hainan chicken with rice. There's one with dark meat and one with white meat. I randomly pick one depending on how I'm feeling. The chicken is always delicious. They definitely use some active chickens because the meat is always firm and slightly springy, defining feature of open area raised chickens. Their consistency in cooking rice is what makes me give them a 3 star. Some days, the rice is too soggy (overcooked) or too dry and tough (undercooked). Rarely will I ever get rice that is decent. Service is also nonexistent, which follows the typical style of these restaurants. Overall, I would be willing to give them a 4 star if their consistency in the rice was way better. The meat is definitely tasty but rice consistency makes just as much of an impact on the dish.

The only thing I didn't like were that the sliced beef in the bún bò huế was a bit chewy, and the chả in the soup was just okay. That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

It is a nicely stacked bowl that has everything but the kitchen sink in it - roast pork belly, catfish, squid, eggplant, and stuffed jalapeno with fried fish cake. Very filling and reasonably priced! The only reason I gave this place a 4 instead of 5 rating is because you can only order certain items from the menu when they open. I wanted to get some Chinese food to-go for my husband, but was told by the server that the other items were only available beginning at 10 am, which is odd to me.
