My favorite place for pho ga! The broth tastes like the homemade clear light chicken soup my asian mom would make growing up, and the chicken is very tender. The soup always comes out piping hot, and the rice noodles are wider than regular pho noodles. The dipping sauce that comes with the chicken is tangy and gingery, and it's my healing soul food whenever I'm feeling under the weather. I kind of skip the plate of bean sprouts and lime they give you because they don't always look that fresh, but the soup doesn't need it anyways. I've had their egg rolls, banh cuon, and bun cha Hanoi, which are all delicious too, but I usually just order the pho ga (regular small size) because I can't finish more than that. They have clean bathrooms at the back of the restaurant and a good amount of tables inside. Do note that if you sit more towards the back near the kitchen, it may smell stronger (probably from fish sauce and chicken). Pho ga is one of my favorite comfort foods. We came for dinner today as a family of 6. This place used to be busier but it was pretty empty when we went. I ordered a large bowl of noodles to split with the hubs, and also a whole chicken to split with the fam. The noodle soup wasn't hot enough and also tasted a little bland, but I still really enjoyed it. The chicken had a lot of small bones that I had to keep spitting out. I have been coming here for years but probably won't be coming because there are other places that will offer superior dining experience. The food is dependable although not stellar. The pho ga is good and is rather cheap compared to other places. That's why you would go there. However, if you're wanting to have a place with better seating and just better dining experience, there are better places. One day, I came in and sat at the counter top which allows for a front view seat to the wait/cashier station with a fine view of the kitchen through the open door. At that doorway, they store a plastic bucket with a large strainer on top and they dump all the soup from the consumed bowls into that bucket to separate the solids from the liquid. The fact that they have to store that bucket right at the kitchen door for the diners to see is just plain old word and kind'of revolting sight. During my meal, I saw workers from the kitchen door (which is half covered with a curtain) push with their feet open containers of food (not sure if the chicken scraps are for the trash or not). But the whole experience just left me disgusted and not in any hurry to come back despite the cheaper prices. read more

I've been here multiple times before writing this review and I always order their hainan chicken with rice. There's one with dark meat and one with white meat. I randomly pick one depending on how I'm feeling. The chicken is always delicious. They definitely use some active chickens because the meat is always firm and slightly springy, defining feature of open area raised chickens. Their consistency in cooking rice is what makes me give them a 3 star. Some days, the rice is too soggy (overcooked) or too dry and tough (undercooked). Rarely will I ever get rice that is decent. Service is also nonexistent, which follows the typical style of these restaurants. Overall, I would be willing to give them a 4 star if their consistency in the rice was way better.
