We came here on a Saturday night without a reservation and were able to walk right in but we also got there quite early at around 5. The service was great and the waiter routinely checked in on us. I ordered the enchiladas and got one chicken and one brisket and also half green chile and half red sauce. I liked the brisket better and the green chile was very flavorful. They also bring you unlimited chips and salsa and the chips come warm and fresh. It is more of an upscale Mexican restaurant and a good place for a couple people or even large groups.

Come here for the green chile and shredded beef (in burrito/enchilada/chimichanga/etc) and you're go to go for the whole meal. Other things are good too (guac, salsa, chips, beans, rice, chicken) but the green chile and beef are incredible. Can get pretty busy even on a weekday evening so food may take 20-30 min to come out, and parking is tough but there is paid street parking or garage nearby. Rustic vibes, on the fancier end of Tex Mex.

The green chili rellanos are so delicious they are worth the visit by themselves. Additionally the portions are huge, service is friendly and location is quiet in a good way.

Celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary with Mauricio! Service was top notch! We really enjoyed the fresh flour tortillas with the sample of green chile sauce he brought for us to try! Persuaded my decision in ordering the chicken burritos with the green chile sauce! Phenomenal! My husband had the Mexican tacos, which were also very delicious! Enjoyed a great ice cream dessert to top it all off! Would highly recommend! Thank you Savina's and Mauricio!

My coworkers and I went to Sabina's for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon which was formerly La Loma. This was my first time there and pleasantly surprised! The chips and salsa were fresh and very tasty. The wait staff was also very attentive. I ordered a mocktail along with their Acapulco Grilled Chicken Salad. Both were delicious! The portions were also HUGE so come hungry or be prepared to have leftovers.

This looked like a nice well decorated restaurant. The booths were very comfortable, they bring you good salsa and chips when you sit down. Service was a little slow even though it was late afternoon and not very busy, they were understaffed. Unfortunately, I couldn't recommend the food. I ordered the tequila shrimp, and while the rice and beans it came with were tasty the shrimp was overcooked and tough.

I think in transition of the rebranding, something was lost. This former Denver hidden gem felt soulless - our server was spotty, barely speaking to us, which maybe speaks more to being overcapacity. The food was basic, chimichanga not crispy nor flaky, filled with very plain brisket - which was tough. Same with the tortilla soup, it was okay, but the chicken was somehow dry and tough? Quality is okay, but this spot lacks the flare it once had. Come here for drinks and the green chili, the rest feels manufactured.

First time here with my partner. We came in around lunch time today and it wasn't very busy. Darkly lit, relaxed atmosphere. Our server was amazing, super sweet, great energy. She had been at the restaurant for 9 years and explained that some minor family mishap created the split and change in names of the place. Savina's Sampler: 4/5, good sample of their food options & green chile if you mainly wanted to try everything without committing to food with a lot of rice and beans. Good balance. Beef Brisket Chimichanga Combo (1 chimichangas with rice and beans instead of the specialty that came with two. Was quite full from the sampler). 3.5/5, the food is good, we got red chile instead of green to try it and didn't love it as much. Lots of rice and beans.

Food was solid! We ordered the steak medium rare, it was nice and tender, though verging on the edge of rare on some slices. The side of green chili was delicious - definitely worth the try. The service was incredible! Our server was super friendly and made our experience that much better.

I loved La Loma. We made reservations in advance. The highlight was our wonderful server who was so friendly. We made it in time for happy hour and ordered the mini Chile rellenos. I was surprised when they arrived because they looked like egg rolls. They ended up being good, but they are essentially poblano poppers (instead of jalepeno poppers). I wouldn't get the full order if we had come during happy hour. A highlight was the virgin margarita. Since I don't consume alcohol anymore, I have missed a good marg and hesitate in ordering a virgin margarita because I don't want to just drink marg mixer. This was hand crafted and wonderful. We ordered chicken fajitas to split for our main course, and they were stellar. The homemade tortillas are divine. The green Chile, chef's kiss. Unfortunately I started feeling under the weather (probably because I struggled acclimating to the elevation), and they kindly got us out quickly so I could go back to the hotel and lay down. This place is a gem.

We visited this place for a work dinner and I was extremely impressed! The atmosphere was fantastic, walkthrough it was busy, the restaurant did not seem overly crowded while we were at the table. We reserved a spot for the group in advance and the staff set up a nice large round table for our moderate size group to dine at. We were able to interact with everyone throughout dinner. Every dish that came out looked fantastic - and mine was delicious. The portions were arguably too large - they were definitely plenty. Our office is near the convention center and we walked over here. I was a moderate walk, but easy. I've tried a lot of Denver Mexican places and this one stands out! I will defiantly be back on an upcoming trip into town!

Elevated Mexican and New Mexican classics served in a shic atmosphere with a a gorgeous full bar. Grandmas Green Chile is rich, spicy, and full bodied. Definitely don't skip it. They make their own tortillas in house, soft, chewy, warm, and fresh. Just perfect! I'd go back just for the tortillas and Green Chile. I ordered the classic Green Chile Enchiladas and I will be dreaming of this dish for a long time to come. I finished the meal with a neat Tequila served with a plate of cinnamon and an orange slice. This was an incredible pairing that I didn't know existed before now! Holy cow!! The stuffed sopapilla was on another level. The tortilla was fried to a perfect golden crisp, and even when smothered in the Green Chile, it still retained its crunch. A masterpiece! Francisco our server anticipated our needs and was ready for us at every step. Parking was a bit challenging, but otherwise it was a perfect meal.

Savinas is a must if you love Mexican food. We started with the guacamole. It was good, but not quite spicy enough. I had fajitas as the main. I did half shrimp and half chicken. They were amazing! Next time I am getting shrimp only. The fajita platter had three days worth of food on it! Just FYI. Our server was so good. He was quick with the margaritas, and really good about checking in. We were tucked into a quite corner of the restaurant. It felt like we were in a pueblo home. I absolutely loved this place. I highly recommend making a reservation through Resy, as it gets very busy.

Food and service were both excellent. Absolutely perfect. Mauricio is amazing. He gave me very good recommendations to fit my vegetarian diet. And also got me to try some yummy pacific sauce. We tried the Mexican tacos and vegetarian enchiladas and chili relleno. All was spot on in terms of balance of flavors. Margarita was strong and the churros at the end was the best finale to our meal. The dark chocolate dip had nice notes of cinnamon and chilli to give it a nice flavor without over powering it. Thanks Mauricio for the recommendations and the awesome service. We throughly enjoyed our dinner and left the place with a big happy smile and a content heart. read more

Was traveling on vacation with my family and heard about this Mexican restaurant. When we arrived, they told us it was a minimum of 90 minutes for a table but I spoke to one of the managers by the name of Kiana, she went out of her way to accommodate us, and we were sitting much sooner than what was quoted. So, a special thanks to her. Now, I grew up in California and know what good Mexican food is. I have to tell you I experience one of the most delicious green chili sauces in my life. Overall very good! My new favorite spot in Denver. I highly recommend you check this place out. read more

Great food, great service, would definitely go again! We were sat and the manager came and gave us water and took drink orders. He said the server was busy so he would help out. Now that's a great restaurant(we literally had just sat down!!). La Loma is my new celebration location. Got a promotion at work? Going to La Loma. Closed on a house? Let's go to La Loma. Finally folded all your laundry? May as well go to La Loma. Every aspect is great: food, service, atmosphere. It is not often I moan when taking a bite of something. Our waitress Anna was perfectly pleasant and we were never in want of anything. And the beautiful brick all around was lovely. I highly recommend getting a dish that comes with green chile! The best in town! read more

Stopped in for dinner before a play. We had reservations for 4 which was a must. We arrived on time and were sat right away. We enjoyed a booth near the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This is place that was recommended by our Lyft driver and it didn't disappoint! We loved the green Chile and could eat it on everything! It was within walking distance to our hotel downtown and we got sat quickly. Cute and cozy spot. read more

This place was popping for a Sunday Night. We waited an hour for a table for 2. At first I thought that was too long to wait for table, but after having the food and margaritas I was extremely happy we chose to wait it out. First the salsa was so yummy! Chunky and lots of cilantro which is always my favorite! I had the chicken and spinach quesadilla it was good, but I ate so many chips I could barely eat my quesadilla. My husband had some chicken dish smothered in cheese and it was amazing as well. Just get the pitcher of Margaritas! They are delicious and you will want a pitcher if you just order one! read more

This gem is a little off the beaten path of the 16th Street Mall but well worth the 2 or so block walk! I had passed by it a few times getting to my hotel and on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm we stopped. We were instantly greeted at our table with warm chips and salsa. Salsa was a little on the spicy side for me but that didn't stop me from eating it! The menu looked so good we told the waiter to come back a few times because we couldn't choose! I ended up ordering the La Loma Combo (an appetizer) and it was plenty of food! The others in my party ordered the Mexican Street Tacos and Spinach & Cheese Quesadilla and they were both happy with their choices. Definitely worth the trek to get off 16th Street and have a delicious meal! read more

Came here for dinner in a weekday with a group of 4 and were very impressed with the service. One of our friends has Celiacs and the waiter was quick to know what was gluten free and to recommend options. Unfortunately while they do have corn chips they have a shared fryer so she was unable to eat those. Additionally most of their dishes were with flour tortillas so her options were limited BUT he was very helpful and quick. Drinks - I had a mezcal Marg. Good. Not too sweet. Fresh. Food- had the Chile con queso- pretty standard. The salsa was fresh and flavorful. Less impressed by the hot salsa. For food I got the spinach and chicken quesadilla which was fresh with good chunks of chicken. Could've used more of the spinach. Overall well made with excellent service but nothing out of the world. read more

Was looking for some good Mexican food in Denver, specifically looking for good Green Chiles. Definitely found it here at La Loma. During my trip to Denver, I ended up here a few times. As I have said in the past, it all starts with the chips and salsa. Chips were really good and the salsa, oh the salsa. It had really good heat and the consistency was spot on. I had the Green Chile Enchilada with pork inside. Such good flavor. My wife had the combination Chile Relleno and Green Chile Enchiladas. We both really enjoyed our meal. I came back a few days later with some work colleagues and they got the fajitas. They were huge. Service was ok, but the food made up for it. read more

La Loma has delicious Mexican food that reminds me of the chains in California called El Torrito and Alcapuco with tasty good quality Mexican food. The happy hour brisket tacos, flautas and guacamole is to die for! The margaritas are super delicious too! Just remember this place is located at the Brown Palace downtown since the gps navigation Waze will send you to the wrong intersection if you enter La Lomas address. This place is definitely worth a visit! Make reservations in advance since LL gets busy! read more

I ordered Chicken Tortilla Soup and the 3 Taco Dish. I was served my Soup first and it came very tasty, not salty or bland. This is the perfect comfort food soup. When I received my 3 Tacos I was not happy to notice the cold look about the dish. I mentioned this to our server and he had mentioned it got busy. It wasn't impacted when we arrived. I don't mind waiting for good food as long as it arrives as listed on the menu and hot. read more

Chic little Mexican place in downtown Denver that is a must visit. Beautiful brick facade and simple but colorful decor is pleasant. The food is simply outstanding. Even simple staples such as chips and salsa and tacos were way over expectations. But the highlight really is the green chili for which they're really famous. I do wish they have a vegetarian version for those who are limited by eating meat. The pricing is very very fair for the high quality of food and the service is really very friendly. I got dragged along with my family from out of town when they were visiting. The margaritas are good and strong but there are zero vegan options other than a plain side salad. If you're vegan, this isn't a good place to go if you are hungry. read more

We are visiting from California and with that being said our standard for Mexican food is pretty high. This place is delicious. We started with a skinny and blend strawberry margarita. My skinny margarita was made with perfect amount of sweetness & tequila. They use a good quality tequila and the nice chucks of ice. My only knock is that I had a small piece of metal stuck to me ice. However, that didn't stop me from ordering 3 rounds. The strawberry blended margarita was just what fiancé wanted sweet and tasty. The food: I ordered the Plato Al Olivo with a side of the grandma's green chile and my fiancé order the Chicken Nacho and the Mudd pie. My Plato Al Olivo was seasoned to perfection with fresh veggies, and accompanied by with perfectly soft tortillas made to order. Grandma's green chile really good and was a welcomed addition to the both the Plato Al Olivo and the Chicken nachos. We weren't crazy about the seasoning on the chicken in the nachos. My fiancé ate the mud and she liked it. The Oreo cookie crust was her favorite part. However, cutting through the cookie requires a little muscle. Lastly, I'll mention the chips and salsa because it's worth mentioning. Cannot wait to stop by again on our next trip to Denver. read more

Went in with my mom and brother and loved the ambience. Unfortunately we couldn't eat there since every sauce and dish had some kind of meat in it. The salsa and chips were really good and we ordered a quesadilla for an appetizer which was ok. We added veggies and apparently that made the total to 19 bucks. read more

I'm leaving this review to highlight the great food and service we had at La Loma last weekend. I usually prefer Carne Asada at Mexican food places, but since that wasn't available in a chimi, I ordered the Beef Brisket Chimichangas. I was super pleased! Someone else on Yelp said the margaritas weren't that strong, but I disagree. My husband and I both thought the house margs had a normal amount of tequila in them, enough to taste. The salsa wasn't my favorite but I overheard another guest asking for a straw so he could (jokingly) drink the salsa, he loved it that much. Mauricio was a incredible server 10 outta 10 stand up guy. I've never had a margarita till today and I really hated it but Mauricio got me a Corona instead which I really appreciated. Established in 1973.

Our story began in 1973 and grew into a landmark built from three historic Victorian mining homes—the Colonial, the Victoria, and the Cantina located in the Highlands near Denver. Over decades, we became a Denver tradition and a gathering place for family, friends, and authentic Mexican food. We later relocated across from the historic Brown Palace Hotel and opened our Castle Rock location soon after all while continuing to serve the award-winning green chile and family recipes that made us famous. In 2025, we changed the name of our downtown Denver and Castle Rock locations from La Loma to Savina's. This change was about honoring grandma Savina Mendoza — the heart behind our kitchen. La Loma is by far the best mexican food I have ever had! I recommend making a reservation because they are always busy. You can also try and steal a seat in the bar area which is open seating and also has a fireplace which I love sitting by in the winter. Let me start with the margaritas. My favorite margarita is the Cadillac get it frozen or on the rocks and it will blow your mind. Yes it is a little pricey however it is strong and doesn't have all that sugar in it that usually leaves me with a headache. The fajitas are incredible. My boyfriend and I always share the chicken fajitas for two you can't go wrong. There is so much food and the flour tortilas are to die for. They are made on display in the main dining room everyday. I also enjoy the burritos smothered in green chili. I have never really enjoyed green chili until I had it here. I just want to put it on everything! I don't usually get dessert because I am so full but I have had the churros a time or two and they are delicious. They come with a cream filling on the inside and a chocolate sauce to dip them in. AMAZING! To top it all off the service is always top notch. Plus you can't beat the speed of the drinks and the food once seated. I don't mind waiting for something this awesome especially when I can sip on a great margarita while I wait. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, offering a perfect blend of casual yet vibrant Mexican charm. Our server, Mauricio, truly elevated the experience. He was friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations, ensuring we had a fantastic meal. His timing was perfect, and he checked in just enough to make sure everything was to our liking without being overbearing. As for the food, everything was absolutely delicious! I'm not sure if the ownership changed or something but I feel like things have definitely changed in the last 6 months or so. Went tonight, ordered NY strip fajitas. They came out and the fajita veggies consisted of barely warmed white onions in some kind of mystery oil. Not carmelized at all, pure white. The meat was obviously from a NY strip but was cut into oval sized pieces that were probably 3 inches wide, hardly the cut used to put into a tortilla, no flavor to speak of. Asked the waiter to take it back and have the onions actually cooked and the meat cut up - he hesitated and then offered me a knife, I took it and did it myself, not feeling like screwing with it. Nothing had flavor, service was mediocre at best. Won't be going back. Don't be fooled into all of the "Denver Staple" talk on here. This is a solid Mexican place downtown. Good for lots of occasions: business lunch, casual night with friends, birthday with a big group, AND a decent meal when you're alone, tired, and just want to sit at the bar and look at your phone. Everything on the menu is above average, nothing is spectacular. Chips and salsa come fast and are pretty good. The chili relleno plate is pretty good. The enchiladas are pretty good. Service is attentive verging on aggressive at busy times, but everyone is nice and efficient at their job. My largest complaint is with the margaritas. They don't have alcohol in them as far as I can tell. I mean I'm sure they have some, but as I have noted and other reviews, I am a total lightweight and I have never had a margarita here that got me even slightly buzzed. Huge fan of this place. Like the green chili. Tortillas are made fresh in house and they're great too! Food is consistent and the fajitas are my favorite. Some other dishes are really good as well. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star review for me is I wish they would clean up the menu as little bit and maybe use some fresher ingredients on some of the dishes. All in all service is good (when i go everyone is always nice and helpful) and the food is hot, fresh with really good flavors. Specialty margaritas are delicious and you can always ask the bartender to make something unique. If you're in the mood for great Mexican food La Loma is an awesome destination! Thirty years ago Coke tried to change their formula...a horrible disaster. I am sad to see the same thing happening to this place. I have been eating here for ten years but won't go back. I felt like I was eating at Taco Bell. Please....Please go back to your old and excellent food! My question...on what customer input did they decide to cheapen the quality, cut the quantity in half and jack up the price? Frankly I am willing to pay more money... Just bring back my old La Loma! I asked if they sold out to a new owner. The waiter said they were trying to go "more healthy." What the....? Did I miss the federal attack on Mexican restaurants from Michelle... It was a brilliant experience! One of the very best Mexican meals I have ever had. Highest compliments to the chef that never fails to impress. A really great twist on some classic Mexican cuisines that you got something you cannot imagine traditionally, which every dish is as you'd expect. You can tell the ingredients they used were fresh and that they took their time to get the flavor of their food right. The staff who served us was exceptional in terms of efficiency and courtesy. Good safety precautions and we felt safe and the service, the atmosphere made us feel normal for a night. La Loma is one of our favorite date night restaurants. We're going back again as soon as we can! read more

My Wife and I have been going to this restaurant since they opened at the small house a block from the present locations over forty (40) years ago to present. We are extremely disappointed how poor the quality of their food has gotten. They tell us they changed Chef's. We'll their new Chef need to learn how to prepare Mexican food. On Thursday this past week we ate there and they are now using Pickled Chile, the Tortillas were old, the Salsa is limited to each table, I ordered an Enchilada and I got it un-cooked which is extremely disturbing. They lost us as a customer and if it is their desire to be relegated to the ranks of other chain restaurants they have achieved their goal. read more

Went here for the first time after a Broncos game. Super cute on the outside - looks like a converted house (maybe it is?). Inside, there are lots of different rooms. My friends and I got a table on the patio and settled in with chips and salsa (good) and margaritas. After that, everything was just okay. Service and food were both average. My seafood enchiladas with shrimp and crab had a tasty green sauce, but the crab was very fishy - yuck! The blonde female manager (at least we thought she was the manager) walked past our table several times, and each time appeared somewhat frazzled. Overall it was fine, but there are plenty other Mexican restaurant I would rather go to. read more

Can't stop coming to this restaurant and this is one of my favorite place for Mexican dishes. The restaurant is really good and has fantastic service. Been here many times and the food never disappoint me. I like the Mexico city tacos and chile relleno which taste really delicious and very flavorful. The menu is excellent and has plenty of great options and amazing quality of food as well. The portion is reasonable with great service. The restaurant has amazing setting too, huge inside, welcoming vibe and the pleasant atmosphere. Their bathroom is very clean. Perfect place for special occasions or business meeting. read more

We went here with friends & really enjoyed it. This restaurant has been around a long time & has a couple of locations. My friend recommended this restaurant & we were not disappointed! Mexican food is one of my husband's favorites, so we have tried a lot of restaurants since moving to the Denver area. This is one of the better ones. We started with margaritas. I ordered the El Diablo which was delicious! I ordered the chicken enchiladas & they were also delicious. The restaurant is pretty big & has a full bar. The service was excellent. I was in Denver on business and I heard about this place. Went there with a colleague who had been there before and recommended it. Very crowded and noisy. Great atmosphere. We sat at the bar to eat because there was a long wait for a table. Had one of their margaritas. Wow--potent. I could only drink one!! Chips and salsa were incredible. I could have had a meal from the chips/salsa and margarita alone!! Wow! Food was excellent. I had the chicken flautas-----excellente!!! Service was excellent from the bartenders. Not a great fan of Mexican food I was taken for a leisurely late Sunday lunch on the patio and was impressed with the attentive staff and efficient service. After the salsa and guacamole with light corn chips accompanied by a superb Margarita - I was more than happy to give Mexican-Southwestern another try! They kept the green chillies to a minimum for me and the sizzling prawns and tortillas were really tasty and filling. Finished off with a shared light flan which was just right after a surprisingly good meal in a lovely spacious setting. read more

One of the best dining experiences i have ever had. Mauricio My server walked me through every dish and drink and explained in vivid detail why each was fantastic in its own regard (he could be a salesman he did such a good job). The food...unbelievably good. Some of the best mexican food ive ever had. I had the fajitas and i was stuffed to the brim AND had enough to bring home for tomorrow (thank god) to top it off the store manager Danny was a pleasure to speak with. La Loma was pretty darn good. I'm really picky about my mexican food and thought it was better than most. I really like the building, it's like an old house and very comfy. The salsa was amazing as was the guacamole. My dish was decent, but the green chili was a bit garlic strong. not into that, especially since I went on a date! I also think they need to add a vegeterian chili because even the red sauce has meat. My date didn't eat meat, so that made for a lot less choices for him. overall, good food and nice place. read more

I went on a Sunday night and the entire experience was great! I love going to eat to new places on my own and this is definitely one of my new favorite spots. The waiter Joaquin was very nice and attentive he made sure that the experience was enjoyable. The food was amazing the service was perfect. It was relaxing but upbeat the drinks were also amazing! I highly recommend the Plato al Olivo which I accompanied with a house marg that was really refreshing. Don't forget to have their tortillas as they are made fresh to order. read more

Inviting atmosphere and wonderful setting inside. We always had great experience dining there and the dishes were all great mexican. Decent and good quality of ingredients. The menu is fantastic and has lots appetizing food. Cocktails makes dining experience really wonderful. Always a great spot when craving for mexican food. The steak fajitas, Chile Relleno, and Mexico City tacos were best there. Had a very flavorful taste and so delicious as well. The portions is really reasonable and good price. read more
