La Loma was a very cute restaurant with good vibes, kind staff, and quick service. My group started off with the queso and house salsa. The salsa itself was very mild with not much spice, but the group enjoyed the queso. While the menu had limited vegetarian options, the staff was very knowledgeable about what was vegetarian or not. I ended up getting the cheese and onion enchiladas which were very delicious. However, I could not get the green/ red chile or the rice that came with it as none of it was vegetarian friendly. Luckily, the enchilada sauce was made vegetarian and tasted amazing. My partner got the chicken enchiladas with rice and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Overall, we will definitely be back.

We had a private group (30) luncheon here. Love the vibe, the brick, the natural gas sconce lighting, the beams in the ceiling, big windows, etc. The food was excellent, buffet style, fresh and delicious. The only downside was the Audio Visual equipment. Sound cutting in and out, the video running ahead of the sound, the screen arbitrarily going up and down, etc. I guess there's a ghost running the AV there.

Inside the entrance is a small waiting area with a bar - the perfect place for an adult beverage while you're waiting for a table. Thankfully, I came after the lunch rush, so I walked up the stairs where the magic happens. The menu features many of the usual suspects. My enchilada platter with green sauce - a recommendation from my server - was outstanding. Prices are a bit high - $31 for an enchilada platter, water and tip - but you are in downtown Denver. Service is prompt, polite and helpful.

I've been a huge fan of La Loma since I moved to Denver many years ago. I was worried that the recent upheaval in the Brinkerhoff family (the owners) would affect the restaurants, so my friend and I headed here to check things out. This place was originally opened by the Brinkerhoffs as a new, higher-end concept, "Caldero," in the huge McGregor Square complex next to the baseball stadium. We tried it when it first opened and thought the food was excellent. Mrs. Brinkerhoff was awarded this location in the divorce and immediately reverted to the La Loma name and concept. That was probably a good idea as La Loma is likely to be more appealing to the baseball and bar-hopping crowds attracted to this area. The Caldero decor has not been touched. You enter via a small door at ground level next to a small, outdoor patio and find yourself in a little bar. There's a huge, sweeping staircase or a stunning, copper-clad elevator to get to the main restaurant on the second floor. An enormous restaurant space occupies the upper level with an open kitchen and large, curved bar to your left and a huge dining area with many separate spaces to the right, including a large, glassed-in terrace that overlooks the McGregor Square central patio. The spaces are beautifully decorated and very comfortable with a good mix of booths and tables. The upper bar is in the rear of the left wing, by the kitchen, with a substantial amount of booth and table seating in front of it. This restaurant is one of the largest in town with seating for hundreds of people. My understanding is that it has been quite unprofitable. It is also hard to find, with a small, somewhat obscure entrance on the side of the building that gives no indication of the scope of the place. You can see the glassed-in terrace by the video screen from the McGregor Square plaza, but you can't access the restaurant from that side. So, what about the food? I have eaten in various La Loma locations dozens, if not hundreds of times. This was, without a doubt, the best La Loma meal I have ever had. Everything was absolutely fantastic. We started with house margaritas. You can optionally add one of five fruit flavors and we chose peach. These were fresh, delicious, and perfectly balanced. An excellent start to the meal along with the usual chips and salsa--also excellent with a nice bite and deep flavors. I ordered my usual, the Anniversary Plate: a stuffed sopapilla, chile relleno, and a chicken flauta with rice, guacamole, sour cream, and La Loma's special Hatch green chile. My friend went with the Chile Rellenos: roasted Anaheim green chiles with cheese, fried in a crispy shell, rice, beans, and a crock of the Hatch green chile. First of all, the portion size, unlike most restaurants these days, has exploded. The server was shocked that we ordered so much food--so were we when the enormous platters were presented. Each item was much larger than on meals past, along with generous portions of the side items. The green chile was amazing, a perfect consistency including large chunks of very tender pork and an intense depth of flavor. Definitely the best I have ever tasted. Each item was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. My friend agreed that this was food of exceptional quality, prepared with care. I ordered a side of guacamole which was also a generous portion, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. Our server seemed very new and somewhat tentative. He made several mistakes on our order. However, he immediately apologized, quickly corrected the issues, and gave us a substantial credit on the bill. The floor manager stopped by at once, without being asked, to ensure that everything was OK. This is extremely gracious service and hard to find these days. We enjoyed our experience tremendously and left staggering with a huge bag of leftovers. Even if you're already a La Loma fan, this location definitely needs a visit!

Great food, great drinks, great service, and great atmosphere. The green chili is famous for a reason - definitely a must have when visiting.

The fajitas seem to be the best choice. The green chile sauce is amazing. Not spicy. I also like the guac.

Really enjoyed this place, the food was excellent and a really nice environment. I had a chicken fajita which was cooked perfectly. We started with some guacamole which is some of the best I've had and ended with churros which were obviously freshly made as well. The ambience is really elevated for Mexican restaurant so it feels like a night owl. Service was very good, friendly and prompt

We went to La Loma for a friend's birthday. Getting there was a bit tricky. There was a Rockies game at the same time, so that made it more challenging. We walked so parking wasn't an issue, but getting to the restaurant was a bit tricky for us. The entrance is on Wazee to the right of the McGregor Square entrance. Other people in the party also had a little trouble getting in. Because we had a big party, our experience might be different from a table with a smaller amount of people. With that being said, our servers were amazing! We had two different servers that worked really well together. Though as expected, our food and drinks took a little long, but I think that was because of our party of about 17 people. So I do think mark that against them. We ordered maybe 6 or 7 pitchers of margaritas for the table and that worked perfectly. We were able to share them all and they were all tasty. I ordered chimichangas and as from the photo, you can tell they were delicious. My stomach was hungrier than my phone camera. They had the green chile on the side which I liked. My partner ordered the Mexico City Tacos, and they were fab. All in all, a great time was spent there. It was delicious and perfect for a birthday!

La Loma has a great space, located near Union Station, it's a great place to meet with friends for drinks and dinner. Recommend the queso and guacamole both are excellent. Drinks are amazing too. The staff were super friendly, and very attentive to us. Looking forward to coming back soon.

La Loma makes its way to Mcgregor square!!! I love the beautiful exposed brick, open air kitchen and copper accents all over the restaurant. Plus the patio area has an amazing view of the open area where folks hang out to watch games on the big TV. We had some absolutely amazing margaritas and the sampler style appetizer. The wonton wrapped chili rellenos are to die for!! My fajitas were fantastic and loved all the grilled onions and big bowl of green chili. The green chili is top tier and could eat it everyday. Highly recommend it!! The steak was a little under seasoned but considering we came in for their soft opening, I expect them to dial it in the next few weeks. Our server was very attentive and made sure our drinks and chips were always full. Even the manager stopped by to check in on us and everyone who dropped off food made sure we were all taken care of. Love the new space with all the old La Loma classics. Will be back and be sure to tell your friends because the venue is so beautiful!!!

Whether it's a date night or a holiday celebration, when my family visits Colorado, La Loma is always at the top of my list! For this visit, we switched it up and tried dishes we'd never had on their menu. As a starter, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Chicken Nachos! As a true nacho fan, this is the way I want to eat nachos from now on! They layer six large corn tortillas with cheese, refried beans, and chicken, then top them with guacamole, sour cream, and jalapeño peppers. I loved that each bite had all the toppings--no leftover chips, just over-the-top flavor. Then we ordered specialties and an entrée from the grill... The Texas Platter features a New York Strip Steak topped with grilled onions and serranos. This mouthwatering combination really lets the meat and vegetables shine--paired with irresistible sides, black beans, and their classic green chili smothered relleno. Now let's talk about the Tequila Shrimp, served in one of the best sauces I've had, with the heat from the tequila-jalapeño butter shining through, and just the right amount of acidity. For cocktails, you can never go wrong with a Cadillac Margarita or Paloma - some of my favorite cocktails in Denver! Also great service, thanks Aaron for the great hospitality!

This is the Michelin restaurant that you go to if you like a more casual / less stuffy experience. Food: 4 Every dish that we ordered was delicious, but slightly on the heavy side without anything light/acidic to break it up. Perhaps it's because of what we chose to order though! Frijoles Puerco: This was a play on refried beans and chorizo. The chorizo has a little kick to it. The sourdough tortillas were delicious and served fresh and warm. Callo De Hacha Al Horno: The scallops were a flavor bomb served in a serrano ponzu and tomato butter. I'm unsure why the scallops were cut into smaller pieces instead of left whole... Enmoladas De Pollo: This was essentially chicken enchiladas cooked in mole so I was skeptical if I would find this dish worthwhile. They proved me wrong as this was one of the best dishes of the night. The mole was flavorful, not too heavy, and the chicken enchilada was so well cooked. Birria De Borrego: The lamb shank was cooked until it was fork tender. After taking it apart, wrap it in a fresh and warm tortilla with refried corn beans and salsa. The lamb was well cooked and made for a good balanced bite, but it did feel special. Service: 5 We set at the chef table and was able to watch as they finished and plated each dish. The chef was attentive without being overbearing/annoying and we had a good conversation with him. Food came out at a good pace. Ambiance: 5 The restaurant is small and cozy. It didn't feel stifling or pretentious as other fine dining restaurants can sometimes feel. This would be perfect for a date or dinner with friends.

Service was ok, we ate at the bar so I think the focus was more on having our drinks filled vs asking how the food was etc. And it got busy after we arrived so the bartender was busy. The house margaritas were great! We'll definitely come back for happy hour & to try other things on the menu.
