They have a sauce station as well with both spicy and non spicy. The front lady was so sweet! This was my first time there and definitely not the last one. The order was ready in less than 5 minutes. If it's full, it's cozy, but we had no trouble finding a spot! Service: The guy at the register was so personable! Yum!!!!! Nice little tacos, double wrapped in corn tortillas. The meat is flavorful. They are simple authentic tacos with a little cilantro and onion topping. I am shocked at how high the reviews are here. My boyfriend and I came and both got the enchilada plate and an order of chips and queso. The chicken was not seasoned whatsoever. The red sauce on my enchiladas tasted like ketchup. The queso was like this weird salsa verde with shredded cheese soup served with unsalted tortilla chips. The rice tasted odd. It was all a step below cafeteria food. And to top everything off, my boyfriend started feeling nauseous shortly after. We will never be back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

when i say i want mexican food, this is what i mean. simple, delicious, no frills mexican food. they have a parking lot (!!) and they're open late (!!) staff is always kind. fast service. i typically get the quesabirria tacos and they're SO GOOD. they also make thick tortilla chips which i love. my friends have had the tamales, enchiladas, asada fries, carne asada tacos. all hits. all of their hot sauces are so flavorful. they have a fridge of desserts. carrot cake and tres leches are both wonderful. i am rarely impressed by taco shops in denver and this one NAILS IT. we love chivis!!!! read more

Chivis Tacos is a spot off of Colfax that delivers a great variety of authentic Mexican fare. I got the barbacoa, lengua, adobada, carnitas and birria tacos along with a horchata. My total was 27 dollars for all the food, which I found to be a little expensive given the size of the tacos and the amount of meat in them. I would gladly pay a dollar extra a taco if the amount of protein was higher but this was my only gripe with the restaurant. The food was great, everything was hot, fresh and well seasoned! The waitstaff is friendly and engaging and the food came out relatively fast. I was checked on during my meal and the cashier gave great recommendations for what I should order. The restaurant is nicely decorated with doodles on the wall showcasing their food and trademarks of the establishment. It was clean and well kept and I am always happy to see a well kept salsa bar. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place, but most likely as a late night post bar stop as they are open till 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. read more

I'm originally from Texas so searching for great Mexican food is at the top of my list always and I feel so lucky I found this place. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and the dining room space is so nice. I loved the art work on the walls! My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and he said it was the best he's ever had in his life. I concur. This birria was so amazing and the salsa station was to die for. This is a no nonsense spot on Colfax. The interior is all business with some simple tables and booths. The staff was very friendly. We stopped in for a later dinner. We ordered the birria eggrolls, tacos de papa, carne asada and carnitas street tacos. They have a salsa bar to dress up your orders with lots of fixings. The salsas vary in degrees of heat. Today was my/our 10th or so trip to Chivis - started and run by a mother/son team who have successfully made the truck to bricks transition, where many new great restaurants in Denver are emerging (i.e. Luchador). Many of the items in the menu come out tasting home cooked and as good as you will find in the city. The list includes the OMG off the charts Tamales which I just had, the Quesabirria Tacos, Enchiladas, Tacos, Alambre Plate, and Chilaquiles...all amazing! There are better breakfast burritos but theirs is solid. We are lucky to have Chivis in our neighborhood but it's worth a drive, bus, or long walk. Service is super friendly and a really sweet decor inside, looking forward to our next 10 visits! read more

I don't often leave reviews, but this place really knocked it out of the park. The staff was friendly & there is a window directly into the kitchen so you can see how clean the cooking stations are. The food was absolutely killer. I may even go out on a limb and say it is a top 3 taco spot in Denver. I got the quesabirria tacos, and it was phenomenal. Ingredients tasted fresh, and the consomme had so many layers of flavor. My girlfriend got the carne asada tacos, and legitimately, it was the best carne asada I have had. All of this for an average of $3 a taco is an amazing bang for your buck. Highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Excellent! I rarely come on here for reviews. Unfortunately they mostly have been negative. NOT THIS ONE. We all want the authentic taco stand/food truck experience. Because we want quality authentic food without the price gouge because it's at a physical location instead of a truck. This is it. We've seen the downfall of Kike's red tacos when they opened up their brick and mortar. This location did the opposite, due to a bigger kitchen they have increased their quality and passion. We have yet to have something we weren't blown away by. We just picked up another order and sadly didn't get the guacamole green sauce which is why I chose to write this review. The reason is because their mom deemed the avocados that day were under ripe! Let that sink in. Everything is home made the day of, from their family recipes.
