One of the first places that comes to mind when I want Italian. Such a comforting classic that you know is going to be consistently good, every single time. I have been countless times and each time has been phenomenal. I always get the whipped ricotta and focaccia as a starter and today's brunch visit was no different. The combination of lemon zest, olives, and olive oil with the incredibly fresh and luscious focaccia is irresistible. I do wish there was more focaccia that came with it but they've always been nice about giving us more when we ask. The omelette had sausage, chili-oil kale (Saraghina's chili oil is SO good), and mozzarella cheese. The eggs were perfectly made and the combo of ingredients, which apparently rotates every so often, was incredible. I also got a cappuccino and it was perfect. My sister who dined with me said it was reminiscent of the cappuccinos she's had in Italy. Some dinner highlights are the cacio-e-pepe, tuna carpaccio, and bufala pizza. I like to get the French 75 cocktail or the espresso martini. More often than not I've walked in and was able to get seated pretty quickly (unless it's a busy weekend). Service is great and staff is so kind. They have indoor seating and a heated patio. We sat in the heated patio for lunch and our section wasn't directly under the heater / near the door so it wasn't as warm but our server kindly said he's switch us to another table if one opened up. Also, they have a bakery next door that also has artisan cheeses and Italian pantry staples. After brunch we got a cappuccino from there to go and it was amazing. The atmosphere was okay, the food was mediocre. Granted, my opinion is biased in that I'm vegan and their vegan offerings are very scarce and I wasn't very happy with my pizza. That being said, this is the point of reviewing. The dough was pretty good, the cheese was some blended cashews that weren't fermented or seasoned to taste anything like cheese. It was very disappointing. The service was relatively fast though, and not bad. However, I've been to many other vegan restaurants, as well as non-vegan restaurants before I went vegan and this didn't leave me impressed by any means in comparison to this. Oh all the things I could say about Saraghina. To sum it up in three words: I'm in love. This is undoubtedly my favorite Neapolitan pizza spot in NYC. There are SO many pizza spots in NYC, and it sometimes feels impossible to try them all, or really even find a favorite. But when you do, you stick with 'em -- and that's what I'm doing with Saraghina. To start, the ambiance is amazing here. It's quite a big restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a beautiful backyard garden that's great in the winter with their heaters and even better in warmer weather. They also have added additional COVID/socially distanced outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant, and the tables are actually spread out enough for proper social distancing. Now let's get to the food. You really can't go wrong here. No matter if you're going for their amazing Spanish tapas-style happy hour menu, complete with cava (Spanish sparkling wine), discounted cocktails, and a myriad of small plates. Or if you're going for their main menu. Most pizzas here are around $20. They have their permanent pizzas (like the salsiccia, my personal fav) and also have rotating pizzas that use produce that's in season. But the common denominator here is the crust. If you've ever been to Saraghina Bakery next door, you know how fresh their bread is. Now imagine that as a pizza with equally delicious and fresh toppings. Yeah, you need that in your life, trust me. If you're looking for a new pizza fav, try this place. You won't be disappointed. read more

Visited Saraghina last night and absolutely fell in love. Great service, seated quickly and loved the outside seating set up. Drinks were great, ordered the Negroni Classico and my wife and friend ordered the Vodka Daisy. Both were on point, super tasty. For appetizers we ordered the Brussel Sprouts with the Focaccia and whipped Ricotta. Both were out of this world, Brussels were crispy with this amazing salty sweet combo with slight maple tones and almonds to add some additional texture. The whipped ricotta was so light and flavorful, perfect pairing with the delish focaccia. For mains my wife ordered the rigatoni bolangese and my friend and I split a margarhita and their prosciutto and fungi pies which were light, smoky and cooked perfectly. Nice crunchy crust with a bite, wood fired to perfection. For dinner we did the chocolate mousse and lemon sorbets with coffees and like everything else they were great. I have been coming here for pizza/pasta/cocktails for years but I wanted to write a review for their new BRUNCH menu since I was blown away. Maybe the best brunch food I've ever had in the neighborhood. The cherry ricotta pancakes were so ridiculously delicious they didn't even need syrup. The butter was softened ( important for outdoor dining in December), the cherry topping was tart and the ricotta was salty. It made for a really complicated dynamic dish. I got a side of bacon which is cut very thick and served in a sweet glaze. The orange juice is fresh-squeezed, and tasted absolutely perfect. My partner had the smoked salmon Benedict- very fresh fish, he loved it. They stop serving brunch at 3pm, but we were seated at 2:45 and they didn't give us any trouble. I visited on a very cold almost snowy evening. The bar was cozy and the bartender was friendly! Moved to the restaurant when my friend arrived. What intrigued me the most was that all their pizza options can be made gluten free and vegan which is music to my dietarily restricted ears. I ended up ordering the margherita pizza which was pretty affordable for the size (although they do charge extra for gluten free and vegan swaps...oh well!). Walked in around 9pm on a Sunday night to meet up with some friends and I was greeted by 2 workers. I explained that I was looking for some friends that were already seated and she says "oh yea... their in the back". If you've ever been to this place, the set up is really weird so I had no idea I had to walk through a very narrow space to get to the back where you see waitresses picking up meals. I went back to one of the girls to double check and she still told me its right in the back. Listen lady- all you had to do was to show me directly where I needed to go. I had a nice experience dining at Saraghina during my visit from out of town. Some friends I stayed with had gotten recommendations to try it. We made a reservation for a party of six and sat out in the garden. Being in that space in and of itself made the choice of restaurant worthwhile-- but the food was pretty great too. We shared everything and I enjoyed getting to taste many of their different dishes. My favorite was the ricotta and focaccia dip, laden with olive oil, dried olives and herbs, it was truly a divine creamy sensation. My second favorite was the fried calamari, which I do not normally like or order. At Saraghina, the calamari and its' breading were melded perfectly together for an easy and enjoyable bite. The squash atop the seasonal pizza was undercooked in my opinion, and the ravioli stuffing tasted a bit like dog food. Overall, good ambiance and Mediterranean menu. I would try again! read more

Great combination of Neapolitan pizzeria and classic Italian restaurant. We dined in Saturday night. We arrived to a 40 minute wait so we grabbed some seats at the adjoined tapas bar. My fiancée had a hot cider which she enjoyed and I had a couple bourbons. I had a glass of Noah's and a glass of Wyoming. We then moved over to the pizzeria side once a table was open. We ordered the Búfala with tomato sauce, basil, and imported buffalo mozzarella. The crust was doughy and had a great char. One of the best Neapolitan pies in Brooklyn. We also shared a special: the veal osso buco. It's veal short rib on the bone with mashed potatoes and gravy. The bone still had marrow in it. It was super savory and rich. Drinks were at least $9+, even for draft beers. When we were finally seated at the restaurant, it was quite noisy and dim. There were a coupla different atmosphere options. Seats look like vintage, wood classroom chairs so yeah, not comfortable by any means! Pizzas were enough to share between two people. So it's not too unaffordable if you dine that way. I have had the pleasure of eating here a few times. I've had the basil pizza as well as the lasagna. I have my former coworker Eva to thank for putting me on. There's two really cool things about Saraghina. First off, the dark ambiance really adds an intimate touch for conversations of all types. The brick and wood finish inside makes it feel like you're in someone's old but very well taken care of dining room. Being able to see the brick oven in action while you eat is always a cool sight. I found the lasagna to be very rich. It tasted authentic. I guess authentic would be the word that encompasses the full Saraghina experience. It's a great addition to Bed Stuy without question. Really, really disappointed. Read my last review - it was 9 years ago. I consider myself a crazy regular and have been through two GMs and have had multiple birthdays, dates, and used to eat at the bar regularly pre-COVID. In short, Saraghina is one of my treasured spots. However, the place has changed so much over the last few months, and not for the better. All my favorite staff and bartenders are gone and the vibe is off. While I understand things had to shift a bit due to the pandemic, I feel like the menu and food (besides the pizza) is starting to lose its edge. It was also strange to find out that after regularly ordering delivery and/or pick up, they recently decided to essentially cut any opportunity to do so. So Saraghina is only open to those willing to eat in/live in the local area? Delivery is no longer meaningfully an option here. I went to try to do pick up today (mind you, they had seats available to eat in), but was turned away since it was after 6pm. Seriously? (And then in 3 months when it's 40 degrees out, ya'll gonna keep that same energy?)
