It's a bit late but I was here on Christmas Day and I can say I was treated just perfect. There aren't many places open Christmas which I totally get but my boyfriend I just wanted to eat some sushi together like we always do. Our server was so kind and on top of everything. She really was fantastic for such a busy day. The food came out really quick and everything was delicious. There's one other place in town that my boyfriend I will always frequent but when we want to try somewhere else out, this is our second go to. We love it here and the rolls always come out so good. I would say this is your typical Hibachi experience, except for having to ask for yum yum sauce. Comical chef doing the same act as every other chef here or elsewhere. Group of 8 friends made a 8:45 reservation on a busy Saturday night. The wait staff was very attentive and paired us with a duo that were dining alone. Glasses were kept full and appetizers came swiftly. The chef made the entire experience fun, especially for the one rookie in the group. 3 Floyd's Brewing Companies "Zombie Dust" should not be overlooked on the large drink menu. This is the place my kids request when it's their birthday. This time it was my son's birthday. And we always get the hibachi grill. So good! When you walk in there's there there's a bar on the right left in the middle where the food store is the hibachi grills. It's pretty dark atmosphere but it's nice. The waitress came into her drink orders in and then she did the food orders. My dad and I got the fried egg rolls which I thought was good. I would give them a 4/5. I'm kind of picky about my egg rolls. My dad ordered the shrimp fried rice, I ordered the salmon and fried rice, and my kids ordered the chicken fried rice. All three were great as always! My daughter ordered the Xbox roll. It is a cooked sushi roll and it's very good. If you want to introduce sushi to your kids this is the type of role to start with. The hibachi chef came out and started doing his thing. He was great! The hibachi chef joked with everybody asked if there was a birthday and of course I pointed to my son. So he picked on him a bit. He took a piece of chicken and threw it in the air for the kids to catch by their mouth which my son caught, and my daughter did not. He was very entertaining. Then at the end of our meal if you have a person that has a birthday there is a birthday dish that they put on I can't remember how much it is but it has the pineapple and oranges and they come out they beating on these little drums and they sing happy birthday to you with it lite up. I would say this is not the cheapest place for sure. But it is good quality food, a nice soft atmosphere where the kids are easily entertained. It was the worse meal I've ever been served! To start, our 10 minutes wait turned into 20. No comfortable seats in the waiting area. The house salad was wet iceberg with 2 shreds of carrots and 1 shred of cabbage. It left a puddle on the bottom on the bowl. The Crab Rangoon's wrap was thick and tough. The egg rolls were good, but bland. We ordered the Shrimp with Vegetables and Noodles, with teriyaki sauce. The shrimp were bland; the noodles very salty; no taste of teriyakI, it looked watered down. Half of the noodles were hot, half were room temp, at best. Vegetables? ... a few onion slices, very few carrot shreds, and a trace of seaweed(?). It was green, anyway. The waitress apologized, the manager cared less. Did not offer any discount, substitution, or encourage us to try them again. "Um, ok. Sorry" after every complaint. The iced tea was weak, the soda was ok. read more

I love the Hibachi steak and shrimp. It's always delicious. I am currently cutting back on red meat, so I tried the salmon instead. It was good, but not as good as the steak and shrimp in my opinion. I will get the salmon again. I went in the following week for lunch and got the crazy roll. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and oh so yummy. The clear soup and the salad is always flavorful. Came in almost 40 minutes before close. Was rushed and told they were closing at 9. They expected us to order right away without a glance at the menu. I came here with my wife and my 9 year old. We stopped in for lunch around 11:30am on a Wednesday. I was trying to avoid the crowds because this place seems like it would be busy but it was almost totally empty. There were just a few tables of people eating lunch without hibachi but we came here specifically for a show with lunch so we were sat at our own table. We ordered and we ended up waiting 10 or 15 minutes, we think so they could fill up the table. We then got our soup and the chef came out and started his show. We've only been to a couple similar hibachi places but this guys show was great. Our kid was all smiles and he even tossed some eggs for us to catch in our mouths which no one has done before at other places. Our chef made the experience very fun and it was great having a table all to ourselves. The food was good too but the best part was the chef doing his performance for us. I gave 2 stars for the nice waitress but this was the first and the last I go there. The food was extremely salty, the cook pour lot of salt & soy sauce. I ate the fried rice but couldn't eat the entree because it was soaked with soy sauce. I don't mind the lack of communication but I assumed the manager must be ServSafe certified and the employee coughing while handling/cooking food is not good. He kept wiping off his nose onto his sleeve . I have video of him cooking the entire time if you want to see. This is not chipotle, I don't want to pay $250( 6 people) for that. read more

Sapporo is a nice combination of hibachi and sushi on the north side. A very open restaurant with an area for the hibachi show, and open to see the sushi chefs at work. The prices are reasonable, and the options are plenty. If you are after sushi or hibachi this is definitely worth a try. read more

We tried Sapporo for the second time tonight. I tried the hibachi chicken, it was okay, not as good as Takaoka or Koto. It comes with a ginger sauce as well as a mustard sauce. I asked for the yum-yum sauce and they did bring some to the table. Even the yum-yum sauce is not as good as it is at Takaoko or Koto. My husband got the steak yakisoba, the noodles were under cooked. The soup smelled wonderful, however when tasted, it seemed to have fried onion pieces in it? The dressing on the salad, seems more creamy/mayo than ginger. The one thing I did try and enjoyed was the Crunch Munch Roll. It was very good! If we do go back I think I will stick with the roll next time and maybe try the Colts Roll. read more

So, we're seated near the sushi bar with two of my coworker type peeps. Waitress came over and got us setup with drinks and menus. When she returns, my friend asks, "What's shumai?"... waitress stumbles a bit with that one so I step in and provide the real explanation. She follows up with "What's Gyoza?"... again, Houston we have a Problem. I retort, "think peking ravioli". So we get our orders in and I ask to start with Tako Su. Do you have Uni?... Yes... WHOHOOOOO!!!! I'll have four pieces of Uni Nigiri and then a selection of three or four sahimi's that the chef chooses. Sounds pretty straight forward, right? I should have been a bit nervous when my peeps got their apps and nothing came for me. Two minutes later she shows up with two pieces of nigiri tako... hmmm... She must have thought Tako Su was some chick that works on the Mexican place on Lima. Super nice waitress so I stuck with the mistake. Next comes my plate of fish yumminess(tm). The uni is served sashimi, it's got an ama ebi served nigiri and two other sashimi cuts. hmm... someone needs to take some training to work in a Japanese establishment. Did I mention she was cute? Now I know how she was hired. Again, she was super nice so I stuck with it. Finished by asking for two pieces of Uni sushi... a n d I s p o k e v e r y s l o w l y. Here's the 911 on the food. Uni was rockin and as good as anything I have had - ever. A bit of a sweet flavor with perfect consistency. Ama Ebi is something that I rarely order (bwahahahaha, just came up with that one) and was equally great. The quality of the offering here is without peer in Ft. Wayne. We were there last night, for the first time, on the recommendation of a local. We just moved to Fort Wayne and we were looking for some quality Japanese food. This restaurant is great. The food was delicious and prepared by our chef perfectly. As a bonus we met some nice people who sat with us at our table. The teriyaki steak that we ordered came with vegetables, fried rice, soup, salad, and everything was so good. We also ordered sushi which was excellent. One of my favorite restaurants in Fort Wayne. I love hibachi food, and Sapporo is great! The atmosphere is amazing, my chef was fantastic, and the sushi was delicious. What more could you ask for? I also love the raw sushi bar at the front of the restaurant. You can pick from a million different sushi rolls, so there will be at least one that you'll want to try. It's also fun sitting at big tables with lots of people. It makes it much more entertaining! Couldn't say a bad thing about the place if I tried. Would definitely recommend! read more

The food was excellent. The service was not. Salads were not served until the hot dishes came out. Drink refills required a flag down. There was debris in the ice water. No one came by to ask if if we needed anything. The tables were far from full and the place did not appear to be understaffed. We had to ask for the check after a very long wait, were told the server would be right back for payment. After another long wait, I took the check to the bar and asked them to take care of it for me, because our server, wasnt. This is our go to spot for dinner celebrations. It's hard to find a spot that has good food, staff, and will keep a young one entertained. My young son loves watching the food being made in front of us. He loves the interaction from the chef and the food. It is nice to be able to enjoy a meal without seeing phones out the entire time. "Okay but we'll have to split you up" we said no problem, "uh there"ll be a 18% gratuity" no problem "you can't split or share meals" ,no problem. So we got there on time and the maitre de tried to sit us at the hibachi. We told him we didn't want the chef just sushi. He told us to wait while he talked to the manager, then came back and told us she said no tables , hibachi is our only choice. We told him we had agreed to split up. We went a few days after this restaurant opened. I met my husband for lunch and we loved it! It was much more affordable than Takaoka and it was nice to not have to call ahead for a reservation. The service was top notch - very friendly and a quick experience for hibachi (which we appreciated since it was lunch time). There was plenty of food and we spent less than $30 for the two of us.
