Order at counter and food is brought to you. I got pork belly with white rice. (Fried rice was extra.) It was $11 and change after taxes. They have a 49 cent fee for credit cards. Pork belly was disappointing. Tough, hard to chew. Did not enjoy. Good reviews left by others but I did not get good pork belly when I went. I cannot recommend. :( read more

Out of many Asian establishments out here, I would have to say they have one of the best that really reminds me of back home, or the west coast! This place is definitely known for their pho, but I got it because I'm a pho lover. It was ok. I got the crispy pork belly and rice and it was delicious, I also had the bahn mi here and it was ok. The wonton soup here is really good! What really stole the show for me was their roasted duck! It was so delicious, some areas where slightly dry because maybe I came near closing, but it's ok, the flavor and other areas of texture made up for it. If you're from Cali out here in Fort Wayne and you love some authentic Chinese food, west coast grille is your place! The service here is amazing, the staff is friendly and they know me now! Great place for authentic Asian cuisine. Very authentic roast duck. We tried the smoothies, and the avocado smoothie was the best as it used real fruit. The others were too sweet and used canned fruit. Also, the price was too high for a smoothie that wasn't awesome. Still, it wasn't bad. Next time, we'll try more of the food. read more

Stumbled into West Coast Grille after another restaurant nearby was closed. But this was definitely a happy misfortune! You can find the restaurant not far off the corner Calhoun and Creighton in the 07'. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular, but the food and service makes up for it. It is lunch room style so you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. There is a number of booths and tables in the dining area to make yourself comfortable. I was a big fan of the throwback 90's music playing in the background! The man at the counter was happy to see us. He greeted our group with a smile and was truly appreciative for our business. He asked if he had been before and was willing to answer any questions we had about the menu. They had a variety of options from noodles to fried rice bowls and even bubble tea. I decided to order the Japanese pan noodles with chicken. This was a fantastic choice. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the dish had great flavor. I was also able to try one of the egg rolls and they were large and tasted fantastic. Our entire group was happy with the quality and service. I had gotten into the habit of going to the West Coast Grille's Glenbrook Mall location almost every week and counted it as an unsung gem hiding away in a most unusual place. So it was quite a shock when, upon entering the food court several months ago, I beheld that their sign was gone and their outlet empty. They had closed. I almost cried. The Calhoun location, in my previous experience, had occasionally been equally delicious, but less consistently so. It's also much farther from my house, so, after the mall location's closure, I hadn't made it back until yesterday. And I'm glad I did because it was so, so good and has readily re-awakened my cravings. I recognized the woman behind the counter from the Glenbrook location, and, even after nearly a year, she recognized me as well AND remembered my regular order. Now, to get into food. I honestly haven't tried that many things here, though I assume they are all at least good, if not, very good. I honed in on what I wanted pretty quick, and it's the only thing I would comfortably recommend. That is the Pork Belly Udon Bowl. This magnificent dish is very similar to vietnamese Bun, except that instead of vermicelli noodles it contains much thicker, flavor absorbing, pan-fried udon noodles. A sweet, sesame ginger dressing is used instead of the typical fish sauce. And it's topped with pickled radish/carrots, shallots, cucumbers, lettuce, basil and bean sprouts. On top of all that is some of the crispiest, fattiest, most succulent pork belly you can get in Ft. Wayne. All of this for just $7! And very filling to boot. I have tried their whole Crispy Duck on a couple occasions. It's quite tasty, and I'm sure the duck would make an excellent substitution if you aren't into the pork belly option. The only appetizer item I've tried are the cream cheese wraps. They are basically like crab-rangoon minus the crab and plus a lot of garlic. They're certainly munchable, but nothing particularly special. I've also had a few of their bubble teas and smoothies. My favorite is a green tea bubble tea, blended (which you have to request or otherwise it will come out as a regular bubble tea.) In short, this isn't really a review for this restaurant as a whole so much as it is a massive recommendation to go try that Pork Belly Udon Bowl. It's an amazing value for one of the best plates in the city. read more

I love this place! My bf and I eat here wayyyy too often. Everything is delicious. Their banh mi especially the pork is sooo delicious. It is definitely better than banh mi barista. This is one of the worst restaurant i ever tried at. 1st the pork belly that's i ordered was bad, the pork was really dry seem like left over the last few days, the skin should be crispy but NO I thought i was chewing some kind of rubber band, the dipping sauce was really salty doesn't have any flavor in it. 2nd the worst service i ever seen, i ordered my food and the cashier turn around and making fun of me because my order (they're speaking in vietnamese which i am understand). We visited West Coast Grille on Calhoun a few times in 2016 and, at the most recent visit in December, the plastic lunch trays were gone! Plates and bowls were brought directly to the table without trays. That element of presentation made the food look even more appealing than before... Also, on our last visit we finally tried the beef Pho. What a nice surprise! The bowls are slightly smaller than our regular restaurant (which made the amount of noodles seem very generous in relation to the bowl size) but still huge. In fact, we only wished the bowls were bigger so there'd be room for more broth too, since the fresh beef broth was really impressive. Basically, we loved the Pho and will be back for more. (And the Udon bowls are still delicious!) Glad to be able to update our initial review from 4 stars to 5, now that the plastic lunch trays are gone and after enjoying the Pho... One word.... Hibachi Bowl(wait... that's 2 words) The Pho is great, the Bubble Tea's are amazing, but the Hibachi Bowl is of Legend. I mean seriously this place should be shut down for being so awesome(wait what), its not even fair! This food is in its own category, its nothing like you've had before. I'm brother and family came into town from Chicago and he asked what's the restaurant still open on Calhoun Street with the smoothies. I say yes it is he went and ordered dinner for everyone; roasted duck grilled pork belly and individual dishes that everyone wanted. It was absolutely delicious and plentiful . I really wanted to like this place...after waiting for a fairly significant amount of time, our food and drinks finally arrived together. They were all in carryout-type bowls and served with plastic silverware. While that's not always a terrible thing, I felt based on the size and price of the food, there should have been more class and presentation involved ($40 for 2 adults, 2 kids). "It better be freakin fantastic," I told myself as I signed the credit card receipt (which I was charged .49 to use!!) There were 2 employees in the place when we got there and no other patrons. We waited extremely long for our food. We waited about 25 minutes WITHOUT drink for our food to come. Then our food came out which looked pretty delish. I tasted my sister's fried rice and was delighted with the flavor and texture. It was full of veggies such as green peppers, onions, bean sprouts, peas and carrots. The veggies were still a bit toothsome, which I liked. It was soo good that I immediately went to the counter to order some for myself. And for once during this visit, I was pleasantly surprised with the price. For veggie fried rice, it was only $1.50!!! How awesome is that!! And for a huge portion! But then the cashier (who it turns out must have been the cook too) goes back to the stove to start on the additional order of fried rice. This would have been fine if we would have had the smoothies we ordered 30 MINUTES AGO! But we didn't. So I told him that this was a problem. I thought by complaining that maybe the other guy would jump in and help him but no. Once the smoothies arrived, they were almost worth the wait. They were super tasty. They had tons and tons of flavor. I'd get them again. But if I ordered them again, I would definitely pass on the "bubbles" at the bottom. And if I ordered from there again, I would call ahead AND only order the veggie fried rice. My soup was less than stellar. It was kind of a one-trick-pony kind of soup. No deep layered flavors. I came here on a whim looking for a quick dinner in my area, and I was not disappointed by what I got. The Vietnamese bowl was delicious, with a unique blend of foods that made me feel so warm inside when I was done eating. The service was kind and quick, and I liked the selection they had on the menu. I will definitely come back to try it again. The only reason I docked a star is because, since this is a quick service restaurant, I find that ambiance and facilities tended to be a little lacking.
