I was pleasantly surprised that yelp led me to this restaurant on a Sunday night. Surprisingly it was not busy. The food itself was exceptional. The chef was able to make the perfect combination of fresh fish with the right amount of rice. The fish itself was very fresh, which is always refreshing since we're in land lock Indiana. There was plenty of parking up front and this is a place that I definitely will return to in the future for my Japanese cuisine craving. read more

I come on my lunch break for work, and get an hour to relax, have sushi, watch my ipad, etc. Food is ALWAYS delicious, and the lady that serves remembers me, is ultra kind, and she always has a huge smile. Absolutely blessed to have Tokyo in Columbia City. We still eat here quite often since they opened several years ago. We usually only order sushi and it's always amazing. Possibly there may be some shrinkflation happening as of our last couple visits. And yeah, that can happen with sushi. I've seen it at other places many times. Any time we've taken my parents there, they've enjoyed their hibachi dishes. The wait staff is always great. So glad to have good people and a great place to eat in our community. read more

Great service. Excellent quality sushi. I had a beautiful order of salmon nigiri and a spicy tuna handroll. Probably the best handroll I've ever had because the seaweed wrapper was so flexible yet crisp that it snapped when I bit into it. Wow. Party of 6 and all were thrilled with our food. My wife and i had yet another great experience here again. We just got off a 16 1/2 hour drive from Florida to move here and we've had some good food while we lived in Florida and this great establishment is on par if not better than most Asian restaurants we ate at. My wife and I both work in the culinary industry and one of the hardest things to make are great broths. When making them it's all about layers and if you don't do it correctly it just tastes like water with seasonings and the broth on the Ramon here was DELICIOUS!! It had so much flavor and depth!! I will enjoy this being our new Monday date night restaurant. Also the service here is always so friendly and fast as well. I feel very welcome when dining here. read more

I travel a bunch for work and whatever city I'm in I like to try out their sushi. For being in a small town this place beats out most of the bigger more expensive places! Amazing sushi and great wait staff! The sushi chef brought out my plate and explained each piece of sushi he crafted! The edimame was great and so was the hot sake. I arrived at 8:30, an hour before closing, on a Wednesday night. The staff was already mopping the floors and performing the typical end of night cleaning. I ordered the Sushi Deluxe with a spicy tuna roll and a tall Sapporo. Sushi, roll and miso soup were very good; the salad was okay. Service was very fast, even with all the cleaning. After numerous visits, I can say with confidence that Tokyo is one of the best restaurants in Columbia City. I usually get the California roll, which has been fresh and delicious every time. I would even go as far as saying this is the best Japanese food in the area. I would previously say Asakusa in Fort Wayne was the best in the area, but in my opinion that title now goes to Tokyo in Columbia City. Carry out orders have always been filled quickly & accurately. Dinning in is definitely the way to go though. Service has always been great & the facility has been spotlessly clean for us on every visit. I cannot manage to understand how Columbia City managed to get a Sushi place. I'm too excited about this! I went for lunch today, and I'd say plan ahead, they only had 2 sushi chefs on hand and they worked as fast as they could. I was very pleased with my rolls. We had 6 different types and tempura. Friendly staff & great food. We had a party of 9. The Lobster Rangoon appetizers were amazing! The sushi rolls were really good also. The hibachi plates were not the same flavors as when they cook in front of you, more like stirfry with a teriyaki sauce. We all enjoyed our dinners. Thank you! read more

My husband and I came here two months ago when we were visiting Columbia City and we loved everything about it! Now we are very happy to be living back here so we can come here all the time! We should have gone to Fort Wayne. Called to see if they took reservations and the person answering the phone clearly didn't speak or understand much English. We showed up THINKING we had reservations but obviously didn't. Waited at the front of the house and was never approached by any staff. Went to find someone to see about getting on a list and again no English. No eye contact. No customer service what so ever. The food might be fantastic but we'll never know. The remodel is cool but it's sad that the owners obviously don't know how to run the front. My advise....go to Ft. Wayne where they know how to do business. read more

Stopped in last night to try a newer addition to the Columbia City dining selection. Went in and sat at the sushi bar to order take-out and was promptly greeted and helped. Interior was really neat, looking forward to taking the opportunity to dine in at some point in the near future. Ordered 4 rolls, California, Boston, hot lover, and sweetheart... all were very good. Should have taken some pictures but my wife and I were overly eager and finished them all off before thinking of it. Came here for dinner. Have came here multiple times and had no issues. Tonight food was ehhh. My daughter got the soba and they were extremely rubbery and had a weird taste to them. She only had one noodle and then I tasted one. I set the plate at the end of the table and 3 waitresses asked me if I wanted a box. I said no they are nasty and they immediately walked away! I never once had our waitress check on us to see how we were doing or see how everything tasted. Extremely disappointed! read more
