Dillinger's is located downtown Peru, Indiana. It is off the beaten US 24 path. You will find it in a building that was probably built in the 1880's. Allegedly, in 1933, Dillinger robbed the near by police station of guns and ammo. Hence the name...Dillinger's Bar & Grill. Dillinger's is a smaller but wide open restaurant. An inviting bar is centrally located. The wooden floors, ceilings and hand-hued beams are probably original to 1880's business structure. The facility is simple and sports a lot of Dillinger references like the table tops. I found the team here to be very friendly and willing to serve. The menu is fairly large with lots of Dillinger coded menu items to choose from. The prices were very reasonable with decent portion sizes (i.e. no highway robbery here lol). We started with the onion rings. They had a thick piece of onion and equally thick batter. The batter had a bit of a beer seasoning, slight oily taste and a moderately crunch. Really good tasting ring! The side salad was small with a nice mix of simple side ingredients - tomatoes, onions and cheese. My wife had the Wheelman wrap. She said it was loaded with tasty turkey and bacon flavors. She liked the fresh taste. The fries were thinner and crispy. I ordered the Silent Shot breaded tenderloin. It was very thick and juicy. The pork taste really came out nicely. The breading was thick like the onion rings - slight crunch and slightly oily. The sandwich came with all the usual toppings. The Cole slaw was also very tasty. The small slaw pieces were almost diced. The mayo base was slightly sweet with a hint of vinegar. It stuck to the slaw pieces without being soupy. Overall another interesting, out of the way place, with good drops and service... to dine and experience some Americana. read more

The tenderloin was delicious! The service was very good, lots of attention. Group of 5 & we all loved the food , from steaks to tenderloin. Atmosphere is so cute, they thought of everything Dillinger, from pictures on tables to great menu names . Looking forward to next visit. read more

The table was sticky. The fries were under seasoned. My wife's burger needed to be salted and peppered. My steak was over cooked with no sear on it (not sure how you pull that one off) as well as being under seasoned. Not a good experience and won't be returning. read more

Was on the way to nearby logansport Indiana. Thankfully this place was open till 10pm on a weeknight (Tuesday). Since it was Tuesday, Dillinger's was serving tacos. Sat down at the bar and immediately impressed with friendly and BUSY people. Got my G&T(tall) with water back up immediately. Nice menu that had me really questioning what I wanted most. Special tonight was grilled prime rib (rib eye) with two sides for TWENTY ONE DOLLARS! I saw one roll out and was maybe sorry I ordered the breaded tenderloin instead, but knew that much food was too much. (If you haven't had an Indiana breaded loin, just do.). I started with the recommended fried green bean with spicy Mayo (YUM!) and sweet jalapeño sauce (even more yum). Then my main came out. Grilled broccoli that was perfect. And that loin. Typical bar food. Not really what we expected before we made the trip up from Kokomo. Tenderloin was pretty greasy. Onion rings are the minced onion type from a bag. Hamburger was an average bar hamburger. Can get the same stuff at a bar in Kokomo. read more

Great place. Nice atmosphere and lots of motorcycles outside. Decor is awesome too. Sirloins were good the pickle fries were crispy and yummy. Salad was bag salad so skip that and get the fried okra. Probably gonna go back to try the pork steak. read more

Super cute, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff, the food was average. My sirloin was not the best cut of meat but it happens. We'd visit again, just for the atmosphere and laughs. But, definitely recommend they purchase a little better quality of meat, I eat a lot of steak so I'm picky about quality. The seasoning and marinade was great, just a little tough cut. read more

This place was pretty good for being in the middle of nowhere lol. It looks like a bar but it's really a nice steakhouse with great prices they even have a kids menu. I got a ribeye with fry's and the steak was flavored well and super tender you could taste the chargrill flavor. It was under $20 and huge. We also got onion rings they were alright. My husband got a chopped steak he said he liked it. The rolls were tasty and service was excellent. This place is full of the 1930's gangster John Dillinger memorabilia. John Dillinger robbed this town Peru Indiana's police dept back in 1920's/1930's era and used the guns to rob banks . We were just hungry while driving thru here and decided to eat here and when we walked in we saw the reason for the steakhouses name. Everyone was friendly and our service was great. read more

Unusual evening here a couple of weeks ago. I have eaten here 3 times now. The 1st 2 times, the food was great, but slow service. I told my sister about it. She & her hubby came down from North Judson especially to eat here with my mom. Unfortunately, service was terrible and after waiting a good hour for the food, it was not good. Mom's chicken breast was way overcooked and our steaks were small, overcooked and tough! Potatoes were cold, too. The server just shrugged her shoulders when we complained about the food. She did offer to reorder, but we could not wait another hour for a new order to come out, but there was no offer to discount the bill. My mom and sister and brother-in-law said they'll never return.
