Just finished a meat loaf dinner with​ 2 sides, green beans, and steamed broccoli. Meat loaf was excellent. Green beans were tasty but the serving size was very small - 4 fork bites. Broccoli serving was more generous but the last floret was extremely bitter. At the end of the meal I asked for a veteran's discount. They only provide one of you come in uniform. We got the family meal for 8 here and was able to call ahead and order. They let us choose 2 different entrees, two different sides, and two different vegetables. In essence we were getting two 4 serving meals. We were billed that way which was a surprise to me (2x4 servings is more than 1 8 serving meal). No big deal though, I loved that we were able to pick up through the dirve through. Once we got to the house, which was only 5 minutes away, the food was still hot. Some of it had leaked, but that is okay. For the entree, we got the pulled pork and the lasagna. The pulled park was too soggy for me and the sauce was not that great. The lasagna was the better entree. The broccoli and green beans were both great and the highlight of the meal. The mac and cheese was good as well, along with hte mashed potatoes and gravy. I got the brown gravy. We also added a sugar cream pie, which is not included in the family meal package and it was great! I've had a few things here the meatloaf is great the salads are large and satisfying but the star so far is the fried white fish .followed closely by the best chocolate cake . We stopped into Windmill Grill randomly one day for lunch, and were really happy we did. We had no idea what would be good, so we just winged it. The meatloaf here is better than your mom's. I'm not kidding. Best we have ever had. (the picture is only 1 out of 2 you get, because we started eating it before we could get the shot). We also ordered the onion straws, and these are really special. Something about the way they season them, and cooked to perfection. And the sauce that goes along with it is excellent as well. Yeahhh, I think the wind isn't really blowing their way.................... We placed a to-go order ( we gave them 45 minutes+ to prepare it) last night with said order to be picked up at the window at 5:30P.M. . Simple, right? No. The people in front of us must have placed an order and waited over 25 minutes IN-line. The SMART option would be to have the staff direct them to a parking spot while they waited on the folks in line who actually placed orders in advance! Anyway, the dopey manager said they were running 20-25 minutes behind, and, of course, our food was cold by the time we got home.....we only live five blocks away. So, as a warning to potential Windmill Grill customers, DO NOT USE THE WINDOW! Not really a way to manage a restaurant. Sad. read more

I'm an out-of-towner so this was my first visit and unfortunately I won't be able to visit on a regular basis. We were very pleased with our 'Farm House Soup and Salad' entree and the Chicken vegetable soup. I concentrated on the salad because I knew the soup as leftovers would keep better than the salad would. As it turned out I had leftover salad and soup. We indulged in the app sampler for two of us and oh my goodness. The the breaded... well, everything... was tasty, filling and copious. We especially enjoyed the onions. But, families, with kids, & teens, frequent Windmill. Why have a context of porn to your establishment? I think it's uncalled for. Where Windmill can shine most is its food. Yet, it's mid. Salads come out browning & wilted. Onion strings come soggy, mushy, & not looking appetizing, or crispy, at all. Don't sit in front of the door in the winter. It's cold, of course, but your food gets cold quick. Having the check-in desk right off the door is a big hassle, too. I do understand, they do what they can with the dining space they have. Drinks are good. Breakfast is best, for me. The food doesn't have a lot of seasoning, My wife likes their steaks. Meatloaf is not bad, can be dry though. Good portions. Will go back. I have eaten at Windmill Grill several times. For the type of restaurant it is (Mom & Pop-diner type), I have found it very good. The food has always been served hot and has been tasty. This definitely isn't gourmet fare or anything fancy, but basic salads, sandwiches, homestyle entrees, fries, basic breakfasts. The coffee has been good and so has the service. I have heard people say that the food has been "hit or miss" depending on who is in the kitchen, but I have always been fortunate. It can sometimes be hard to get a table here at busy times. Their burgers are thick and "beefy" tasting. My son recommends the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. Prices are reasonable, and portion sizes are generous. read more

We have gone here many a times to eat inside, always good. Since Covid we have tried their carryout/drive through. We have not had good luck with them. Of the last 3 times we went there they have left stuff off of our order. We went there today(7/10/22). We ordered 2 tenderloin sandwiches, which were good. Also ordered a Cowboy Steak dinner, he wanted it well done with mushrooms. It was not well done and no mushrooms. I mentioned to the lady who took our order that we had trouble last 2 times and would appreciate taking extra care with our order. When we picked it up she said that it was double checked. I know she couldn't know about the steak not being cooked right, but no mushrooms at all. I guess we will not be going back there.
