I've been wanting to go here forever and we decided to finally make it happen. Our family all ended up ordering different menu items and we all finished every item we ordered. We started with the pretzel bites and the potato platter (March special). Everything was amazing! My father-in-law and I both said the pierogies tastes like they were made from scratch. The potato skins were chef's kiss as well. One person in our party ordered crab cakes, another ordered the grilled chicken Caesar, one a hamburger, kids chicken tenders, and I got the tuna melt. Angry Donkey is worth the trip. We make the trek from Indianapolis and always have a great experience. Ambiance is classy but casual attire is acceptable. It's a great escape from the chain restaurants. Fresh ingredients and new takes make for a great destination/meal. I finally stopped in and glad I did. This is a really nice place with a great menu. They had some specials that sounded great but I opted for a chicken wrap. 1st time at The Angry Donkey, and now that we've been, we will definitely be back! Greeted by a very friendly hostess, she might have been the manager. As we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised on how nice the interior of the restaurant was decorated! And the restaurant was actually much larger than what it seems from the outside. The bar area was neat and inviting and we were waited on by Amanda. She was great, a little soft spoken, by friendly and helpful. We started off with the pretzel bread and beer cheese, and they came out quickly and tasted good. I had the burger with pretzel bread and made it "angry" and it too was really good and a delicious burger! The others in my party had grilled chicken, and filled tenderloins. TL;DR. We used to dine at Keltie's in Westfield and was excited to try Angry Donkey when we heard she moved back to Indiana. Sadly, for our party of four it didn't live up to her old restaurant standards. Everyone's dishes were warm, not hot. Big pet peeve of mine. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were on point, fresh and crunchy. The grits had the consistency of mash potatoes. The veggies and andouille sausage were on the side. The sauce was good but lacking volume relative to the amount of grits which made me was more sauce or butter or something else with the grits. Someone in our party had the pork tenderloin and didn't care for it. He is a bit of a tenderloin snob. He did comment that you could tell it was made from a pork chop but didn't care for it. My wife and the last person in our party had the pan fried chicken with bacon jam. She said it was ok. The bacon jam was sweet, not savory. She ordered Parmesan potatoes and got fries by mistake. The server offered to swap them out but my wife declined. Our server was fantastic. Super attentive without being annoying. Very happy and engaging. Made recommendations that helped us decide what to order. Cool building with a historical atmosphere. The water is well water. It didn't seem to affect the tea my wife got. We met family here for my FIL's 60th birthday. They have a fish and chips special on Wednesdays so that's what I had. The fish was crispy and the tartar sauce was very good! The table shared several appetizers and we loved the deviled eggs and pretzels bites. The mushrooms and spinach and artichoke dip were also good. Service was super friendly. They gave my FIL a complimentary bread pudding for his birthday and I tried it and it was delicious; definitely get it if you save room for dessert! read more

In the tiny town of Michigantown, surrounded by corn fields, you will find this inviting and amazing restaurant. The building has been recently refurbished, the inside is somewhat upscale. The dining rooms are large with table spaced nicely apart. There is a full, large bar flanked by large screen TVs. Servers are friendly and accommodating. Food comes out fairly quickly and our server checked on us regularly. I was pleasantly surprised to see cloth napkins and full flatware service. Menu prices have gone up since previous postings so I have included a new photo. I ordered the soup and salad for lunch. Portions are generous and beautifully presented. The soup was a creamy vegetable and it was hot and good. The house salad is composed of garden lettuce, strawberries, almonds, cheese tossed in a poppyseed dressing. The dressing was a little sweet but over all the salad was excellent and filling. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. The tenderloin was served on a pretzel roll, which made the sandwich. The tenderloin had a crispy batter but was a little dry. The sandwich was served with a generous portion of lettuce tomato and onion. Overall, the pork tenderloin sandwich was good. The steak fries were excellent, really hot. There is are nice clean restrooms. They were advertising a weekend band. I'll return. Well worth the 20 mile drive. read more

Just visited this little gem in Michigantown Indiana near Frankfort. Angry Donkey was recommended by a friend as a must visit. It was well worth the 30 minute drive from Carmel where we live. I had the grilled burger the Angry way which included the usual condiments but the Angry part included bacon, pepper jack cheese and Angry (spicy) relish served on a pretzel roll. The beef hamburger was wonderful. It was fresh with amazing beef flavor. I opted for the steak fries as my side which turned out to be the perfect compliment to my burger. My wife got the crispy tacos and raved about their flavor and the crispiness of the tacos. We came for lunch to get a feel for what the restaurant was like and if we'd return for dinner. We concluded that we definitely want to return for dinner. The dinner menu offers different selections including steaks and seafoods along with some of the lunchtime favorites. The ambiance was very warm and attractive, the kind of place where friends enjoy great food and an each other's company. We enjoyed it so much we're going back to purchase a couple of Angry Donkey T-Shirts and a gift card as a Christmas gift for our son and daughter-in-law. read more

Their food is great & there is not much around the area so having Angry Donkey to go for a sit down meal or even to grab a take out order is really nice! They've even started offering delivery which is awesome on days I don't have time to leave and grab lunch! My ONLY ick is that their water tastes HORRIBLE! Like straight iron. There is also a well water taste to their sodas too! I totally get that it isn't their fault, the gas stations soda tastes well watery too! We came here for the first time today (Saturday) to eat lunch. (Yes, they have a lunch menu on Saturdays!) What immediately impressed me was how clean the place was. We sat next to a window, which was really nice (as it was raining). Our waitress was helpful and gave us the background of this place as well as what she liked best on the menu. We started with the deviled egg appetizer, which was thoroughly enjoyable. I had a "special" (their version of Italian roast beef sandwich with au jus) with fries and my husband had the grilled chicken pesto sandwich and fries. This was probably one of the best Italian roast beef sandwiches I've ever had, largely due to the spicy relish on it (corn, red peppers and other veggies cut small) . The fries were just regular steak fries. My husband said he really liked his chicken sandwich which came with some beautifully ripe tomatoes slices and leaf lettuce on a ciabatta bun. Chicken was moist and well seasoned. I also had a side of coleslaw which was the creamy kind and it was very good. We had a very good experience overall. It was very cold in there, that was the only thing negative we can say about our experience there, but we were the only ones there at the time for a while. I imagine when the place fills up it gets warmer. Cleanest bathrooms (and most interesting!) I have ever seen in a restaurant or bar (and this was both). That says a lot in itself about the standards they hold to at this establishment. read more

Loved everything about this place. It's a diamond in the rough. Located out in the middle of nowhere, my friend and I drove 30 mins just to see what all the hype was about. It feels like a classy saloon with rich, dark wood and a beautiful bar. We started with the deviled eggs. They were delicious. We both went with pork entrees- the breaded tenderloin and the Triple Pig. Both were amazing, but the Triple Pig was unique and different. It had pork burger with pulled pork and bacon jam with slaw. So good! Since we drove out of our hometown, we had to get dessert. The bread pudding was phenomenal. It was basically a gooey cinnamon roll in a carmel sauce. We both decided we could skip the mint cheesecake, but the bread pudding I will get every time. Definitely worth the drive. read more

Christopher was one of the greatest waiters I have ever had. Attentive, polite, and didn't take unnecessary time. Our party enjoyed the pretzel bites with cheese- the hot relish was a good taste!!! The tender tips were so good, tender (as they should be) and tits-alcious. The burger was great (bun included, this is important) as was the steak. Sorry for the dissing on the main dishes but the true stars of the show were the strong as F drinks and the AMAZING, best I've ever had, bread pudding, GET IN MY MOUTH. This was our first time stopping in. I love Brie but had never tried it baked, the texture was almost like a croissant breading and was really good, would've been better with some honey. Deviled eggs were so good. Both my fiance and I loved our dinner, his steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. Not pictured is dessert, I got the bread pudding and he ordered some sort of chocolate. We weren't a big fan of the chocolate dessert but the bread pudding is great as long as you love caramel. Our 1time at Angry Donkey will definitely not be our last. We got here during lunch , and it seemed that we were about 15 minutes ahead of the crowd. The service was very quick and she also answered our questions about the menu easily. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a Street Corn skillet hot dip served with corn chips and beer cheese dip with pretzel bites. The four came because it was just loud in the area we were seated, and there were so many other options of places to sit us. It may have been convenient y for someone who didn't want to walk 20 more steps but that other freaking group was so loud and obnoxious. Everything about this experience exceeded my expectations. The caesar salad was perfectly prepared, with just the right amount of dressing coupled with crisp lettuce. The ribeye was perfectly cooked to order, with perfect grill marks no less. Service was very attentive and fast, even on a busy Saturday night. EXCELLENT!! Mike was great!! My husband and I decided to stop in here. We looked up on yelp, and it sounded cool. We walked in and decided to sit at the bar. We were met by the hostess, who said that the bartender would be with us shortly. The bartender came over and asked us if we would like drinks, which we did and we ordered food to share. He gave us a recommendation because we were torn between two food items. we wanted to share so we will definitely be back to try the other. We also had the deviled eggs which were very unique and tasty. He offered us dessert, but we were too full. He said you have to have a little taste of it and brought us out the bread pudding, which was absolutely spectacular!! Possibly the best I've ever had. He also mentioned that they are having a Valentines dinner and we ended up making reservations. He told us a little bit about the town and we also met the chef. Sitting at the bar gave us a chance to chat with the bartender and owner and get their input on tge best dishes (spoiler alert - all of them). We started with drinks. A mule and a Lime gin shake-up. Both drinks had generous pours, were nicely mixed and looked pretty too. Instead of entrees, we shared a few appetizers. The crab cakes were delicious. Fresh ingredients, lightly breaded and lots of flavor. My only mistake is that I should have asked for more sauce. As advertised, the wings were amazing. Smoked flavor, nice seasoning and served dry versus soaked in sauce. Finally the cheese dip and pretzel bites. I loved the cheese dip, and the pretzel bites were soft, a bit buttery and salty. Yum. We have always enjoyed the food at The Angry Donkey. Today I had the Begger's Purse for lunch and I couldn't stop telling my husband how delicious it was. I told him it was the bet meal I've had in ages. Along with the delicious chicken salad baked in the puff pastry, the vegetables were as delicious. He had the pulled pork tacos. Another wonderful visit. Went with a group today and everyone was extremely happy with all food items. I must mention that Cassidy served us and gave us excellent service. All staff were friendly. I had the Angry burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had. I enjoyed the thick cut fries. My wife raved about her fish. We were in a private room that was perfect for a group.
