Ate here two nights in a row because there aren't many other restaurants in Peru open for dinner (Dillinger's is closed). Had two great experiences. This place feels more like a bar that serves food than a restaurant, but don't let that discourage you. It is very well air conditioned (bring a jacket or sweater and wear long pants!) and, surprising for a bar, was actually quiet enough for conversation without raised voices. Our waitress the first night was Jillian and we loved her! She was extremely efficient and friendly and had helpful info about breakfast options. The wine was a generous pour, the fried cauliflower was a pleasure, and the hamburger very good. The desserts are made in house (try finding that at any other restaurant!) and we were lucky that it was Boston cream pie the first night we ate there. Sooooo good!!!! On our return visit, I had to restrain myself from getting the cauliflower again and had the brisket, which was a special that night. Perfection! Smoky, melt in your mouth meaty goodness. My dining companion said the salmon with bourbon glaze was the best salmon he had ever had. And he has lived a long life. The menu also includes fried gizzards (which I was told are frequently ordered) and fried baloney. The prices for everything were reasonable. This place is clearly popular with locals, who come in to have a drink and buy lotto tix from the vending machine by the door. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood. The folks at the next table struck up a conversation with us on their way out. If there is only one place to have dinner in downtown Peru, at least it is a great place! read more

After reading the reviews, we were really excited to visit, but unfortunately left disappointed. In hindsight, we probably should have stuck with the barbecue options. We ordered the grouper bites with sides, and the potatoes tasted like instant--very bland and not what we expected. Since the waitress mentioned that some items were made from scratch, I didn't think to ask whether the mashed potatoes were homemade. I wasn't aware of the 4% card up charge until the bill came. I didn't see it listed anywhere so must have been in fine print? That said, the waitress was kind and helpful throughout our visit. Warm, friendly atmosphere. They have Michelob Amberbock and even Sam Adams Octoberfest when in season. Food is very good.

The service was top notch. Drinks were kept full. Several waitresses asked if we needed anything. Seating was very close not much room to move. Very cute inside. The restroom was very clean, nicely decorated. All patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a good time. Food was good and wholesome. I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. Salad was very good. Steak was ok. Nothing over the top. The atmosphere is what this place is about. Nice place to eat. read more

Very friendly place with nice energy and good food. I was surprised and pleased to see chicken livers (and gizzards) on the menu and happily ordered them. Crispy, light and delicious. I asked for a side of gravy which was the perfect sauce. I also ordered the asparagus which was perfectly prepared and buttery. VERY impressed with the wine selection for a bar in a small town. Even had a nice rosè! I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. My only complaint would be the utensils which were just a little bit too light weight and for some reason awkward to hold. We love Club 14. It is usually our go-to date night spot. You can never go wrong with anything on their menu. They take great pride in everything they make. We love the thin crust pizza, cod nuggets, salmon, shrimp cocktail, salisbury steak, and jalapeno Mac and cheese. Side salads are always so fresh as well. The staff is top notch, and there's a really pleasant atmosphere. Often you are even greeted by the owner. We plan to be long time customers of Club 14. read more

For the last 50 years or so, there was a bar in Peru, Indiana called Club 14. It was full of guys with a beer in one hand, a cigarette in the other hand, and a pool cue in the other hand (having three hands requires a sufficient number of beers)... That was until 2 1/2 years ago when a local couple bought the place, and transformed into a delightful mix of local hangout, great eatery and a nice bar. The menu has some nice twists and turns. It includes some creative sides (the jalapeño mac and cheese looked interesting, and we enjoyed the novel "pig tail fries" with a side order of really nice honey mustard). We had the grilled grouper, which was good, but not great (this is small town Indiana, after all), and the breaded pork chop, which was very tasty, and prepared perfectly. The beer list caters to the clientele, with most of the standard mass market American beers, but with some very interesting offerings on tap "for the millennials". I had the 10 Barrel Brewery Apocalypse IPA, which was outstanding. The high point was the owners, though. This restaurant is a labor of love, and it shows. I don't remember seeing a single person, on a busy Friday evening, that they didn't greet and/or chat with. Be sure to tell Denise I said hello. We ordered takeout while passing through Peru and were not disappointed. I had the the pulled pork sandwich- it was good if a little on the sweet side. I'd never been before and was ordering over the phone so a little surprised it didn't come with a side. My friend ordered a house salad- it was ginormous so she ended up sharing a bit with me. I've heard the pizza is really good so hoping to come here again and try it out. Glad to see servers wearing masks and tables inside spread out. read more

We shared the fried green tomatoes app. (I recommend the boom boom dipping sauce) Everything was delicious and the staff and owner were extremely friendly. The owner even shared her pizza with us just so we could try it! Wife and I both loved it too! Oh, and before I run out of room here... Cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a public bar/restaurant! Don't go out of your way. It's Bar Food. If you are there, want a drink & something to eat, it will work. If you are looking for some place "To Go" to eat, you can find better elsewhere pretty easily. Basically, what I am saying, is that it is nothing to write home about. The Rib Eye is a thin RE bought off the truck. It is tasty & cooked properly but it is not a High Quality RE. The Pork Tenderloin is an Indiana staple which almost always taste better at any Fair & yet this pretty much tasted the same. Likely this is also just bought off the truck & not really locally prepared. Cole Slaw is Very Good. One of the better Slaws you will find in a restaurant. Fires are fries. No big deal at all. Fried Tomatoes; good but not exceptional. Atmosphere; Small bar with some tables. Service; Very Good. We were there during a slow period so I can not attest to what it may be like if the joint were hopping. All-in-all: Don't go out of your way. read more

You know, I can't really say anything bad. Popped in for a quick drink and snack after driving down from Michigan to see a friend. Beer was cold, appetizer basket was tasty, service was friendly and engaging. Sat on the patio, enjoy a late summer day. Went in to use the bathroom and everything looked clean and well kept. The staff clearly remembers their regulars and exchanged friendly banter. We were checked on often and even the other servers working chatted with us. It is clear the staff enjoys working here. We had a fun adventure here! Our waitress Krista was spunky and enthusiastic, and she was just a pleasure. We thoroughly enjoyed her quirky spirit! She made me her signature drink, which I *think* was called Krista's Happy Hippie Juice. Yum! My husband and I shared the bbq pork nachos. The pork was more like crock pot bbq rather than smoked bbq, but we loved the wavy fries we chose instead of a corn chip base. So tasty! This was a great little find! read more

Best ribs I've ever had. They fall right off their bone and have an amazing taste. Their barbecue sauce they serve on the side is great as well. I highly recommend trying their homemade sides too.
