This little place is worth your trip to Huntington for dinner. You will find the Brick House Grill downtown. It's tucked away in a older building. The outside has a small but cozy patio for outside dinning - when it isn't too hot. The interior is very small with a large bar that dominates the room. BHG can seat about 54 people inside and they don't take reservations except for parties over 6. The interior retains the older brick building feel. Not many other modern decor. Simple and comfortable. Though...at times..,when customers are coming and going..,the close tables can get a bit snug. It is also easy to overhear others conversations as the place is small and tables are close - just hope for quieter diners lol. The dinning area is manned with two people who help each other out. They did a nice job on this evening with refills and usher food and empties. Both were kind, friendly and professional. Both worked the bar - kind of unusual. They both knew their menu well. We started the evening with the southern fried pickles. The pickle is a very thin sliced spear. A little too thin for my liking as I like the taste of pickles. The batter was excellent. Plenty of breading without being consuming. The batter had a slight amount of seasoning but was heavy on the salt. The batter was a bit greasy...but salty & greasy are southern! Delicious!! I had a side salad too. The salad was a nice small size with lots of fresh veggies. Nothing exceptional about the dressing. My wife had the pecan chicken wrap. She absolutely loved the taste and combination of ingredients. The chicken was moist and slightly seasoned. There was no dressing in the wrap as it didn't need it. All the different ingredients blended nicely to keep the wrap moist without being soupy...but also very crisp. She says it is a must try!! I had the pile of pork. The pork was excellent! Very moist with a nice mild pork flavor. The homemade BBQ sauce was delicious as well. It leaned toward the sweet side without being too sweet. It had a small amount of tang to go with the normal BBQ flavors. The lager rings were very good. There was a decent sized piece of onion with a modest amount of breading. You could pick up some seasoning flavors that might be a beer. The ring was slightly crunchy without being greasy. The BH Mac was good but not outstanding. My batch felt like it might have been sitting in the pot for a while. The cheese was sticky instead of smooth and creamy. The noodles were larger elbow noddles with a good cheese covering. The cheese flavor was pretty plain...no pop to invite you in. The desserts looked amazing though we did not have any. We were full from our appetizer and entrees. The carrot cake and key lime pie seem like must try's. Give the Brick House Grill a try! You will enjoy the food and atmosphere at a reasonable price. read more

Expensive.. the mashed potatoes are good that was about it. My son ordered the brisket only to receive mushy pulled pork... I even had two bites after they tried telling us it was brisket.. the menu even describes the brisket as sliced and so does the picture from a previous review. Our team was impressed by the fantastic food, the warm wait staff and the pleasant atmosphere (with the exception of the freezing air coming in every time someone opened the door). It is a pretty small restaurant, but everything is done well. Each member of our party was satisfied with their food. Two of us thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and sausage gumbo, a robust soup brimming with complex flavors undergirded by a strong rue. The foghorn leghorn was also delicious, a great light recommendation by our server. The bacon and fried onions provided a pleasant crunch to complement the grilled chicken. We have come to the B H Grill in Huntington for years now, maybe once a year, and we always enjoy it. Fried green tomatoes: hot and fresh, lightly breaded, very crisp and just wonderful. A big indulgence for this Weight Watcher but totally worth it. The chardonnay and the cabernet sauvignon are unremarkable wines, not awful, just blah. Grilled shrimp: I asked for this with no cajun spice or butter sauce and they were still good. Southern green beans: not as fat laden as expected, just a few bits of bacon that I picked out. They had a lovely flavor. RRR's bbq's pork sandwich was very good, his potatoes, although French fry like, were not fried or greasy and nicely cooked. We never got our side salads , mine part of my meal, RRR's ordered separately. The waitress had them removed from our bill but still... Otherwise, wait staff did a nice job. We ate here both nights in Huntington. The door said they close at 9pm but at 845p they said that the kitchen was closed. We begged and got two wonderful burgers. I didn't care for the fry strips but my husband loved them. The next night we had rib eyes. They came with 2 sides. I had the Caesar salad which was good and loaded baked potatoes. This was a delightful surprise. We were just passing through Huntington and it happened to be lunch time. I checked yelp and this had a good rating so we stopped. It is only a bar so probably no kids unless you can sit outside. I got the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and my friend got the chicken sandwich. We both got the homemade chips. Everything was great. They have beer and cocktails but we opted for the homemade iced tea. It is petty small but definitely worth the visit. I've eaten here on many occasions and I've never had something I don't love. It was packed when I visited on a Monday night, which speaks volumes about the food. The Brick House Filet is so tender it falls apart in your mouth, the Stuffed Baby Bellas are the perfect mix of crunchy on the outside and soft, juicy, cheesy jalapeño and mushroom on the inside, and I highly recommend the garlic mushrooms for a side. The burgers are huge and delicious. Good size burger for the price. Also, the quality of the meat is really nice. I usually get the Goober burger, something about the peanut butter and mayo combo is so good. The fries were a bit tough when I went, they might have been sitting there for awhile. But everything else was excellent. Update: Went again and got a tenderloin. It was fresh and crispy but the sandwich lacked flavor. It comes with a tomato, pickles, and lettuce on top. It could have used some mayo or something. The pickles didn't have much flavor at all. And the sandwich really only tasted of oil to me. The bun was also a bit stale. The fries however were very tasty. Fresh and nicely seasoned. Next time I go I will just stick to the burgers. read more

They had multiple Sun King options on tap including two seasonal options! My valor soccer mom sour was delicious. They also had a large selection of other drafts (8 in total) along with a selection of cans/bottles ranging from big name domestics to microbrews from Michigan. Also had an impressive cider collection, with a pineapple cider being on special for $3. The spirit selection was standard with a few additions. The food was delicious and I had to force myself to stop eating. Scotch eggs, chicken sandwich, crab cakes, and crab mac n cheese (with bacon and Gouda!) were all worth ordering. I imagine that when the saying "never judge a book by its cover" was stirred up the creator was standing in front of Brick House Grill on blah Washington Street in Huntington, Indiana. The modern lighting fixtures and colorful walls inside are no match for the beige exterior. I was quite pleased to find a chalkboard marked up with microbrew options, specifically Flat 12. I started off with Bell's Oberon wheat ale. The bartender, who has a burger named after him (D-Bo's Goober Burger), was very helpful in offering samples off the different options on tap. What's for dinner? I opted for a side of the house mac n' cheese, fried green tomatoes with shredded parmesean and vanilla creme brulee. House mac n'cheese: homemade. good. I was hoping for a little more of a unique flavor or cheese, but how much can you expect for three bucks? Fried green tomatoes: I appreciated the southwestern sauce and parmasean additions and the general fact that they had fgt on the menu. Creme brulee: still trying to decide if this was the real deal - custard style or more of a pudding knockoff. My friend's fiance had the breaded tenderloin, had I not just met him I would have asked to take a big bite of it. Looked perfectly crispy. Five of us stopped by here on our way home from Two EEs winery. Between us we had three appetizers, Fried Mac and Gouda, House Skins and Feisty (I think it is misspelled on the website) Feta Dip. All were good but not great. To drink, I had a very good Bloody Mary. Not too strong and great flavor. For dinner, I ordered the Ribeye with a side Caesar and Lager Rings. Even though the Caesar was pretty good, it was rather small, even for a side salad. Things started to turn around once the Ribeye and Lager Rings arrived. I ordered by Ribeye medium and it arrived very rare. Not still bleeding rare but recently deceased rare. I was tempted to send it back for a re-fire but after tasting how good it was I decided not to. It had a great char and was well seasoned. I had no need for any stake sauce! The Lager Rings were some of the best I have had in a long time. And even though the food did seem to take longer than it should have to arrive, Sara, our server, was exceptional. She was friendly and very attentive. It is her level of service that made this 3 star review a 4 star review. Overall, everyone said their meals were very good. On the website it states it is an "upscale" gastropub. I feel this is a bit misleading. Walking in you are first met with the musty smell the comes from the building being so old and even a cursory glance around the room will instantly reveal this is a local gem with great character but not an "upscale" establishment. That being said, it does not take away from the overall positive experience and if we are in the area again we would not hesitate to return. read more

It's a small restaurant so you should consider reservations on the weekends, but it's worth it. My friend and I both enjoyed a glass of wine from a local winery (Two EE's), while my friend's husband started off with a beer flight. Drinks were delicious and our server was helpful with recommendations when we asked. I was allowed to sample a new wine before I ordered. We all loved our meals! I had the Bacon and Crab Gouda Mac and Cheese with a side of brussel sprouts and everything was awesome! My friend ordered the burger that is topped with peanut butter and bacon and it was our favorite thing we ate all night. She added jalapeños which was a nice added spice to the sweetness of the peanut butter. I'm sure the desserts are great, but we were all so full that we couldn't order any. Tiny little place, but packs a big punch! I recommend calling for a reservation (especially on weekends). Very swanky interior, and fun music playing overhead that isn't too loud to drown out conversation. The fish comes in a huge portion of five pieces, and I absolutely love their thick, crunchy "kettle chips." I've gotten it twice and it has lived up to its expectations every time. Great selection of steaks and burgers, too (I love the mushroom & Swiss one). Most dinners are between $8-14, with the steaks a bit more, so it's an incredibly upscale experience for comparably decent prices. read more
