Lightning Fast Service and Delicious Breakfasts! We…read morestopped by for a midmorning breakfast and were delighted by both the service and the food. Within 20 minutes of walking in, we were seated, served coffee and water, placed our order, and received our meals. We enjoyed classic breakfast favorites--fried eggs, patty sausage, biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage--and the lightest, fluffiest, most perfectly prepared Belgian waffle. The experience was so impressive that we returned the next day to see whether it had been a fluke; it was not. The staff was just as friendly and efficient, and while the breakfast sandwich we added was delicious, I couldn't resist ordering another heavenly waffle. I strolled by the kitchen, a couple of times, to try and look to see what magic they were performing in the background, but their secret sauce is the people who work there! So close to the airport, great staff, even better breakfasts and a must stop for breakfast on your way to or from the airport.

I'll preface this by saying that I've heard plenty of good things about Heidi's food, portions and…read morecleanliness. So I really wanted this to become a regular spot for me. Unfortunately, after trying two weekends in a row, I'm giving up. I completely understand that weekend breakfast/brunch is going to be busy. Waiting isn't the issue. The check-in and seating process is just incredibly disorganized. Both visits I put my name on the waitlist. The first time, I specifically asked if I could take one of two open seats at the bar and was told I still needed to join the waitlist. I did, but guests who arrived after me were eventually seated at the bar ahead of me. The second weekend, essentially the same thing happened again. There also doesn't seem to be a clear way to tell who is actually waiting versus who has just arrived. Meanwhile, I watched larger tables that had been pushed together for bigger parties remain together after those parties left, then get reset and used for smaller groups rather than being separated again. That's a lot of usable seating sitting unnecessarily occupied when you have a lobby full of people waiting. When I asked the host during my first visit why someone behind me on the waitlist had been given the bar seat I'd originally asked about, I received an apology but no real explanation or resolution. On the positive side, after spending plenty of time waiting on both visits, I can certainly confirm what others have said about the restaurant being clean and the portions looking generous coming out of the kitchen looke I genuinely wanted to try Heidi's, and I still think it may be worth visiting during slower hours. But after two consecutive weekend experiences with the same seating issues, the problem feels less like "they were busy today" and more like a process that needs some attention. Unfortunately, that's enough for me to stop trying for now.

You can see them bake the pastries and bread. Our first time in line, I decided to get their sausage poached egg breakfast sandwich and an Alaskan berry scone. The egg wasn't that poached, the inside was just gooey and not runny, which was fine by me. Since it was not heated, the sausage patty was so cold, egg was cold, the bread bun they used was so big, too much bread, stale/hard and not proportional. It was pretty bad, not a good breakfast sandwich. Skip it. They made that up in the breakfast focaccia. The focaccia was warm, soft, and the egg and sausage was warm and just right. That's what you should get!!! We came back in line and got additional items bc they put our more. I got their fruit danish, my friend got their chocolate cupcake and an ham cheddar scone. Their danish was delicious. And their scones were very flakey and soft. Everything was great except that breakfast sandwich. Skip that and get the breakfast focaccia.

The worn springs in the red vinyl bench seats of our booth felt like they may have come from the 1972 station wagon my family owned, when I was growing up. With that said: every booth was filled while we were there. The service was dispassionately, hospitable. We were told to find our own seats upon arrival for breakfast, despite a sign saying wait to be seated. Our server filled the basics of what was required, but there was no warmth or interest. The food took a pretty long time (30-40 mins) to be cooked. We were offered one coffee refill the whole time we were there. Our order came out in two batches, with our server stopping for about ten minutes to collect payment at the register for two sets of customers before bringing the second batch of plates for our order. The food was prepared exactly as ordered and over all was ok to pretty good. The pancakes were very tasty, and the hash-browns were perfectly golden and crisp on the outside while being juicy in the inside. My chicken fried steak was also perfectly breaded and cooked, spiced well but not too much. The sausage gravy was pretty good also, with good sausage flavor but not overly spiced. I added salt and pepper. The bacon was also cooked perfectly, slightly crispy but still a little soft. The eggs were prepared exactly as we ordered, but strangely had very little flavor. Not sure if it is an Alaska sourcing issue or what, but there was nearly no flavor at all to the eggs even after salting and peppering them. The coffee was both bland and weak. Overall I give Flo's a tentative recommendation. It probably used to be really good and could be again.
