Great newish restaurant in Walla Walla. The atmosphere is open and the giant wine barrels are a fun add to the space. Food was absolutely delicious. My wife loved the gochujang tofu, and I got the steak frites and really enjoyed them. The cocktails were delicious and things felt festive and special. After hearing rave reviews about this new restaurant, Salted Mill, and coming off a crazy week where I absolutely did not feel like cooking, I decided to hop online and see if I could grab a reservation. I was so excited when I found a 6:00 p.m. opening on a Saturday night! We arrived, and the place was popping. It's such a fun atmosphere--there's seating for everyone, and the vibe is "come as you are." Some people were dressed up, others casual, and everything in between. You truly feel comfortable no matter what you're wearing. The overall ambience was ultra chic. The hostesses were incredibly sweet. They searched and searched for my reservation, only for me to realize (to my dismay ) that I had booked it for Sunday instead of Saturday. Without missing a beat, they kindly said, "Give us just a moment," and came back offering us a high-top in the bar. We were more than happy to take it! They even thoughtfully asked if I wanted to cancel the next night's reservation--such a small detail, but it meant a lot. From there, the experience just kept getting better and better. Our server came over immediately, and the service was truly on point the entire evening. I was blown away by the drink options--especially the wine and cocktail list. Whatever your preference, they have you covered. I ordered the Cherry Drop, and my husband had the Daylight Savings--both were beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. For dinner, my husband ordered the ensalada verde and added steak, and he has not stopped talking about how good it was. I went with the gochujang glazed tofu--wow. The presentation alone was stunning. The mushrooms were rich and flavorful, the rice was honestly some of the best I've had, and the tofu had just the perfect amount of heat. I was impressed by how inclusive the menu is--whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or a full-on carnivore, there are so many wonderful options. They also offer a great selection of gluten-free choices, which is such a thoughtful touch. You can truly taste the quality in the ingredients and see the care in the preparation. When we finished dinner, we were brought a dessert menu, and I asked our server for recommendations. She suggested the mocha cake and the salted butterscotch ice cream--and mentioned that people often order both together. So of course... I did. And oh my heavens... this dessert. The mocha cake was perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with a light, delicate frosting where you could taste every layer of flavor. Paired with that rich, buttery ice cream... it was the perfect combination. Honestly, it reminded me of a family member of mine who used to make the most incredible cakes--it had that same homemade, heartfelt quality. To top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was actively moving throughout the restaurant making sure every guest felt taken care of. That kind of hands-on hospitality speaks volumes. The staff all worked so well together and you could tell they all loved their jobs. On our recent trip to Walla Walla, we stopped in for a night cap and dessert at the Salted Mill. What a great choice, this place was still buzzing from a busy dinner, but we got in just before they closed at 9 PM. No pushback, welcome to us in, sat at the bar. We were only there for a nightcap and dessert, I chose the old-fashioned on the menu using Zachariah rye. We also had the chocolate mousse cake, I believe it was. Which was excellent! Our server was very friendly and engaging, never at any point trying to rush us or get us out the door by 9 PM. One of the things I've really liked about this restaurant is the owner, Jim, is there and engaging with customers and helping the staff and it looks like everybody working there really enjoys working with each other, as they are very friendly, and this shows with their service to the customers. I celebrated a birthday dinner here while in Walla Walla. The restaurant backs up to the Seven Hills Winery (also lovely), and the space is absolutely beautiful. The dining room is layed out so that in the center there are these huge, barrel-encased booths that give the room a ton of charm. We were seated close (but alas, not inside one). I'm not sure if there's a specific way to reserve one in advance, but they looked amazing! There was a little bit of a wait to be seated, but other than that service was prompt and friendly. I had some allergy concerns about a few of the items and the server was more than happy to double check with the kitchen to make sure I was safe. The food itself was incredible. I got their mac and cheese, which was so, so creamy and had a potato chip gratin that was next-level. Wonderful meal overall, and I would come back again! read more

We walked here from the Marcus after hours of day drinking at wineries around the valley. This was one of the best meals, if not the best I've had in Walla Walla. The pork chop was life changing. The service was top notch and then some. The open kitchen was fun to see and hear. Everyone was having a great time. My wife and I were in Walla Walla on our way back home to AZ and we were looking for a place to have dinner and a few drinks. I did a search of the area on yelp and found Salted Mill. It has a good rating, but I didn't read any reviews. I don't like to be influenced. My wife and I walked in without reservations and were told that there was a short wait for the table. There is a couch and seats in a lounge type waiting area we were seated while we waited. A waitress approached us and took out drink order and gave us menus. We ordered the French fries appetizer and a couple of drinks. They offer craft cocktails and a host of wine and beers. The wines that are featured are local wines with some from other areas of the world. Our seat was ready and the same waitress led us to our seats in the dining room. We made our food order and we ordered a bottle of wine. I ordered the new York steak and my wife had the "Rotating" steak (hanger was then choice tonight). The wine and food arrived at our table and it was absolutely amazing. Very tasty. The steaks came with asparagus and duck fat potatoes. All items were full of flavor. The portion size was satisfying. We were presented with the dessert menu and we had the brownie with peanut butter mousse and the sweet corn and basil ice cream. Yes, sweet corn and basil ice cream sounds nasty, but it was very good. The brownie and peanut butter mousse was accompanied by some berry sauce and two chocolate peanut butter candies. This dish was also tasty. The service in this restaurant is top notch. Every employee pays attention to you and makes sure your experience is excellent. After a month in the Seattle area, it was refreshing to go to a restaurant with excellent service and employees who go above and beyond to do a good job. This restaurant is a must visit if in Walla Walla. You won't be disappointed. The prices are reasonable, actually, a steal since you get top notch service like you would in a famous restaurant, probably better. read more

Lovely birthday celebration - Theo made our evening special! We were visiting Walla Walla and our B & B (The Barn) suggested Salted Mill for supper...and they were spot on in their description. We were seated in a booth and made to feel very at home ; they even provided me with a birthday card! My burger was top notch and the wan tons we also ordered were delicious. Theo our server was a delight to chat with and plainly enjoys his job as he has another as an audio engineer but chose to work 5 days a week at the Salted Mill for some human interaction. From a.azing service with perfectly timed dining and amazing food, I have never had a anything but a great time here. If you are able to get there at the right time for s eine barrel seating, do so. Doesn't change the flavor of the food, but does provide an unique experience. We have greatly enjoyed the seasonal changes to the menu, and always have one of their specialty cocktails. With family in Walla Walla, we are able to head in at least every other month. But it is always a destination for a date night or for a quality meal with family. read more

Close walking distance to downtown Walla Walla, very cool vibe, and a fresh menu with unique choices. The burger, Ahi and chop-chop salad all outstanding. The ahi won-ton appetizers a must try. We went on a Friday night, it was crowded and we had a group of eight, with 2 birthdays in our party. The restaurant was very accommodating. Our server, Emily, was outstanding. For our group, no dish had any bad reviews and we are picky and hold a high bar. I had the tomato soup, and it was amazing!!! The chocolate hazelnut cake was also fantastic. ( the salted hazelnut crunch was a big hit with all tasters). The banana chocolate malt ice cream was also a huge favorite and discussed into the following day. All the main courses were great. We were also graced with being "Jim'ied". He is the owner/ manager. He suggested our wines and he was terrific as well. We had the Devona from his private collection and it was terrific. We walked in on a cold Saturday night about 6pm with no reservation. We got lucky and found an open table in the bar area which is FCFS. The ambiance is lively but inviting. Seemed like a lot of locals that had come in to hang out. I love that! As the night went on... The volume inside got louder. And I don't know what was next door.... But you could hear music too. So, if you are looking for a quiet, intimate dinner... I'm not sure this will do. But if you are looking for good food with spirited ambiance to hang out... This is the place! We received menus and water quickly and were greeted shortly thereafter. I neglected to take pictures of anything which is unlike me so I'm sorry to not be able to share this great establishment and their tasty bites. We started with the Sun Dried Tomato Hummus and Crudites. The hummus is thick and flavorful. The veg was super fresh and crisp! My mom and I shared the tomato chickpea soup. So good! It's a hearty soup loaded with veg and chickpeas! I'm not vegetarian, but I want to try to make this at home because it was so tasty! I had the Gojuchang Tofu Bowl for dinner... Again...I'm not a vegetarian but this seemed like a light but filling dish.... And it was! Savory and a hint of spicy. It had mushrooms, radishes and peanuts in it... All of it made for a beautiful dish that had great flavor and textures. Mom had the meatballs. The meatballs are on the appetizer list but this dish can be a small entree. It's 3 good size....super meaty... Meatballs covered in a superb red sauce and served with warm pita. I hope we come back to Walla Walla again so we can come back and try more of the menu. read more

Once our server was informed we were there, service was great. Unfortunately, it took awhile for her to be informed of our presence, she was great, and comped us with dessert. If it hadn't been for the fact that we kept asking if we could be served by other people working there if we could maybe get a drink, and told we would be served shortly, nothing happened. This place is special. A total dining experience. Visiting Walla Walla for 10 days and have been to Salted Mill twice. The staff is so warm and attentive. Our first night, we were seated in one of the barrel tables. So inventive!! There is so much attention to detail in the decor. There were four of us including one child. We had the duck, pork chop and yellowfin tuna. And the kids Mac and cheese. Out of this world!! First off, the presentation- yes you eat first with your eyes but the flavors!! The chef creations are so good you want to try everything on the menu. Our second night it was just the two of us and we sat at the chef's table. I highly recommend this experience if you are a foodie like me. The staff is synchronized and they take such care with your plate. We started with the tuna wontons (so good) and then the steak set and jerk chicken. Each bite was heaven. Cooked to perfection and each bite melts in your mouth! We ordered one salad and they spilt it without us even asking. We met such nice people and our waitress Emily was a total joy. We tasted delicious wines from the area that complemented our meals. We made reservations both nights. A Monday and a Sunday. It was packed both times we were there. The wonderful staff were on top of everything. You can tell the ownership takes great pride in the food, decor and service to ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. Salted Mill was recommended by a couple wineries we visited. I'm so glad they did. Can't wait to get back to Walla Walla to see what new menu items the chef creates. read more
