We were planning to give Green Lantern Tavern 2 stars, but settled on 3 because the service was friendly. Our biggest disappointment was the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich. Since the menu didn't indicate it was grilled or served hot, we expected a traditional cold sandwich. Instead, it arrived hot, which quickly wilted the lettuce to the point that we removed it. The ciabatta roll was also underwhelming--it was soft throughout and lacked the crisp, chewy crust that ciabatta is known for. The tater tots were just okay and seemed a bit overcooked or possibly freezer-burned. We were also surprised to see a charge for splitting a meal. We rarely ask to split dishes because my husband typically eats much more than I do, but it's the principle that bothered us. We visited the Green Lantern Tavern two years ago when we were in town and liked the pizza and onion rings enough to go back! Service was good, beer choices were plentiful and it was cold. Onion rings were delicious and highly recommend getting them with the jalapeño ranch, delicious. My 4 star comes from us ordering a custom pizza and asking for certain ingredients (and confirming with the server) and then our pizza came out a little different. We thought we were getting pepperoni, sausage, onion, green pepper and half of the pizza with artichoke. That turned into: pepperoni, sausage, red bell pepper and green onions (like scallions) and artichoke on one half. When the gal brought it out she said "we don't have bell pepper" so there obviously is a miscommunication with the guy we ordered with. The service was great and the food was super tasty! We were seated and given menus right away, and our food came out of the kitchen very quickly. We had the Fish and Chips and the Taqueria Fish Tacos (sub'd flour instead of corn tortillas). The platter of fish and chips had three HUGE pieces of battered halibut, very good tartar sauce and crispy "chips". The tacos were made with the same battered halibut, but one piece was cut into thirds to divide among the three tacos - the tacos could have used more fish, but everything else was awesome. Our server was friendly and came back to check on us a few times and refill our water glasses. The weak part of the establishment is that the booths have the most uncomfortable benches I've ever experienced. They are bone straight, with hard shallow seats. Given their condition (LOT's of carved initials, etc.) it appears they are part of the charm of the place, but next time I will sit at a table with chairs. read more

The Green used to be one of my go-to places, both when I lived in Walla Walla and after I moved away, when I visited. No more. The last few times I've been there, the service was inattentive and lacking. Last visited April 19, mid-afternoon. It was not overly busy. Took forever to get waited on for drink orders and then a long wait to make a food order. We wanted a refill on drinks and there was a long wait before the waitress came back our way. Even though she had waited on the table next to us and never even glanced our way to see if we needed anything. Then, another long wait for the check, which never came. Had to go to the bar to pay. Finally, there was a guy waiting on tables wearing gym shorts. Seriously, gym shorts? Show a little professionalism. This is not the Green Lantern of old. In fairness the food was decent, but not enough to overcome the indifferent service. read more

This place has really good food. So much, we came here twice. The first time I had the Sasquatch burger and my wife had the fish tacos. The second time I had the pork tacos and she again had the fish tacos. The staff was super friendly and the beer was cold. Lots of local draft beers to choose from. Holy tacos! I'm writing this as we're waiting to pay. That was one of the best meals ever. I had the taqueria tacos- yum!!! I ate all three which is unusual for me. My hubs had a Sasquatch burger and said it was absolutely delicious. Walla walla is nice but it's upscale and we were recommended Green Lantern at a wine tasting. Met my friends here Friday afternoon around 6:30 PM. I couldn't find them right when I walked in, but eventually I spotted them at a high top near the pool tables. There's 3 sections to this bar/restaurant: outdoor patio, bar area, and the pool area. I ordered: - wings (Frank's Hot sauce flavor) $11.50 - my friend's had ordered a sandwich and fries before I got there - cider and beers I enjoyed my wings, nibbled on some leftover fries, and had a hard cider. The waitress was kind enough to ask if we wanted separate bills, which we did. I think we had a couple of different waitresses serve us, but service was good. The service was amazing & I loved the vibe but the wings weren't it for us :( We were was super excited because a waitress from Hallaways recommend them & they came out not crispy, sauce was watery & all at the bottom. :( I love the plum & chipotle concept but it was more sweet than anything. One of the great bars I have ever been to. I live four hours away and have seriously contemplated driving there JUST for the nachos. Don't worry about the comments about it being gross. Has been remodeled and is perfectly nice and clean. You can sit outside, but it's Walla Walla so it will probably be 200 degrees outside until the sun goes down! read more

Gotta say that we're local and have come to eat/drink at The Green for 20 years. Today's experience was a severe shift in quality. I ordered The Iron Goat Lager, and notified our server it was flat. I was offered a different drink and told the tap had been on longer than it should have and said they wouldn't charge me for the replacement drink. While I appreciated that, there didn't seem to be any intention of pulling the flat tap. Ordered a Club Sandwhich and the paper used when they portion out the meat was in the sandwhich. We brought this up with our server and they asked how this could be remedied while also mentioning at least it wasn't a fingernail, or some other human-related body part. While we said it was an FYI and didn't take them up on a free drink, we were surprised they didn't comp our food. We received $2.55 off of our bill due to the inconvenience (the Club is $17). After this experience we won't go back for quite awhile. While a server can't control the quality of food, they can choose how to respond to something that's gone sideways. Been coming here as part of our annual "first night in Walla Walla" ritual for a few years now. Anyway, found Green Lantern thru Yelp. Went because one in our party really enjoys beer & trying new selections. The reviews sounded decent enough to all of us so we knew what to expect. I'd say everyone is pretty spot on. My take: We typically go Friday night after the drive up from Oregon. It's usually around 7pm. It's busy. It's loud. But we've never had to wait more than a few minutes to find an open table for four. When I say loud, it's pretty much a dull roar. You don't quite have to shout across the table but almost in order to hear & be heard. You get the picture: this is not a quiet, intimate setting. Most of the patrons appear to be regulars. I'm not a barfly, but if I've ever been to any bar where "everyone knows your name" this would be it. In other words, I get the distinct feeling the locals (regulars) know who you are (tourists / out of towners) and accept who you are but you'd best mind your manners. It's a blue collar joint and I have no doubt there is a need for bouncers besides checking for fake ID's. That's not to say we've ever witnessed a brawl. I'm just saying that if you root for the wrong team or you imbibe a little too much and start popping your mouth off....it would not surprise me in the least that you, yourself might get popped! All that said, it's fun to be the tourist / non local and take in the action & vibe going on around you while quenching your thirst & stuffing your tummy with better than average grub (for a bar). This is Walla Walla...gotta have something ONION. Try the onion rings here. They are pretty decent. Nice blend of seasonings in the batter. We really like their sauce for dipping. It's a sweet concoction. Very tasty. This last trip, I had their lamb burger...which was excellent. My little baa baa tasted delicious washed down with one of their porters on tap. Generally, most of their food has been great. As I and others have said: better than average. I'd be willing to try anything on the menu that tickled my fancy. A word about the service: even though it's always been a busy Friday night when we've gone, we've always had outstanding service. Great bunch of guys & gals on staff there. And let's not forget about the parking. It's a dirt lot out in back. It's usually packed. Not well lit. Dark. You are at a bar. We've never had any issues but between watching your surroundings and watching your step (looking for potholes) just know what to expect. No valet service here! read more

Having a good time. Notice one two of the patrons are drunk. The waitress still brings them another pitcher. One guy looks like he is going to pass out. Told the waitress about the patron and nothing was done. Twenty minutes later he passes out and falls off a tall table stool right in his head. From there very poorly handled. Asked for our check to leave a little while later. It took over twenty five minutes to get our check. Even got up three times talked to the server and the closest employee, the door guy to ask for our check.finally came. We were overcharged for our drinks but at that point just wanted to leave. 'The Green' is a no-brainer. Great pub-grub, fun atmosphere, cozy interior, great patio in the summer, decent beer and booze selection and easily a place that ALL Walla Wallans frequent at least occasionally. The latter is an important thing to mention in a town of 35K. This is a place where the locals bump into each other often, and if you are wine or restaurant industry, you know you have a craving for something on the Green's menu at least once a week. This is where your food and bev people go to watch sports, tip a beer back and generally rub elbows with the rest of the community on their rare day off. Look, the Green Lantern's 'Achilles heel' is what is pretty typical for service standards in this town. It's 'on and off'. I think the 'off' times tend to be the weekends, where the place is so sh**-canned PACKED, it's a little finicky to rake them over the coals for it. Sundays is often times the 'B-team', but friendly nonetheless. All-in-all, I feel like the crew at the Green keeps it real. My faves are the usual (and you can ask the locals): - Nachos= UNREAL. By far the best in town and I've been hard-pressed to find better anywhere since I've tried these. - All things Thai Chicken- pizza and salad = BOMB diggy. - Fried Pickles- a Green staple. Dee-lish. Perfect crunch. Usually fun and interesting specials. Immaculate cleanliness. Great local sports bar/pub atmosphere. Good rotation and amount of taps. Best nights IMHO? Monday-Thursday. I think weekend nights can 'throw' your experience, as it can be a madhouse. 5-stars indicates tops in it's category, and there ain't another pub in town I go to more often. Cheers! read more

Fried pickles amazing... Otherwise; Whom ever the chef was at 4:45pm March 6, 2022, could have put a little more passion and effort into the pizza. Crispy crust, but the entire center was greased and soggy so I had to fold the pizza in half or the toppings would "run" off. And also I don't like how there is a recommended tip chart at the bottom of the receipts. No one should expect a tip for doing their job! 3rd time back....we clearly ordered the wrong thing. Fish and chips were not good. Thin slices probably frozen halibut, really thick breaking and overlooked. Not good at all. We also tried the fries and a salad. Salad over dressed, fries not fresh cut, just OK. We will go back for the burger, pork nachos, and a Ruben.
