The pretzels appetizer was a couple of med 4"-5" pretzels with a couple dipping sauces that you choose. The steak bites are breaded (wish that was in the description ahead of time) and the cook was hit miss. I ordered medium rare. Some bites were medium but still very tender and juicy. I chose the Thai peanut dipping sauce. It was very good but also had a bite so if you don't like heat you may not want this choice. The tots and leftover sauce were tasty enough that they went home with me. . Got in just before the horde. This place was hopping on a Saturday night and once it filled up the acoustics made conversation a bit more difficult. Over all a good place. read more

The ambiance is a typical loud bar vibe however, service here is horrendously slow. It takes forever at every stage of service--from having menus and not being able to place an order for forever, getting water refills, straws, or even condiments. Then, they kept getting our orders incorrect. I wondered if it was because it was a loud environment and it was hard to focus on getting orders right or, it also seemed like they were understaffed for the large amount of people that was there. The food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I had a huckleberry lemon drop which was really delicious (and surprisingly strong for a lemon drop!). Came here on a summer Saturday evening and while it was pretty crowded, there were still tables available and any wait times were very minimal. My wife and are over visiting family we decided to have dinner here before going to the rodeo. Nice place looks clean and the waitress was friendly and made sure we had enough water and time to order. I ordered the mushroom burger with a wheat beer and my wife got the sliders and a Bud Light "yuck" but that's her thing anyway we ended needing to head out so didn't finish it till later after rodeo but it was a good half of burger it had a nice char and it was moist too even later when heated up. Is this the absolute best place I've ever eaten? No, but I didn't need it to be. I needed food, I needed to be able to bring my dog, and I needed to have it open post 8pm. The tasty food was a bonus. The salads are huge, the burgers are very good. That they have tater tots on the menu as an option sent me over the edge. You can also add a spicy seasoning, which is good if you're in the mood (I wasn't, friend was, it's tasty). It wasn't crowded, but I never felt rushed to get out of there, especially because I bet our server could have gone home. Overall it was just a really nice experience after a long day of driving. Cute pub on Walla Walla main drag. Wait at the hostess stand to be seated. There is a large outdoor patio, shaded from the sun. There is even a gas fireplace out there, although on a cold day, it doesn't throw enough heat to keep you warm. It's more for ambiance. We sat at a high top in the bar area. Our waitress was great answering our questions about beers on tap, and wine by the glass. She even brought samples to help us decide. This was a pit stop in our day. We each got a drink (beer or wine) and shared three appetizers. The Deviled Eggs are good. We got two w/o the bacon (food sensitivities) so if you don't eat pork, just ask to have that removed. Deviled Eggs seem to be making a comeback and it was nice to see these as an option. They have a hint of spice that is very nice. We sampled the Brew Balls which are a fun twist on the tater tot. These are bigger than your 'normal' tot, filled with a creamy cheese and mildly spicy. Cheese bites come with a side of marinara. These are a tasty, mild snack with plenty for our group of four. Dark wood interior is very 'cabin' like with a high ceiling and windows over looking the patio. It was loud in there. Service was excellent. The server, who informed us was on her first day without a trainer, struggled to put it mildly. Waited a long time to place drink and food orders orders and we're given the wrong check in the end. They were out of Tots!!! In a sports bar/brewery?! C'mon man! So I ordered wings in Korean sauce. The wings were obviously brined for way too long and were salty to the point that they were inedible. I left half on the plate. My wife's ordered a Cobb Salad. This salad could have fed four! Honestly, restaurants need to tone down portion sizes and eliminate food waste. My partner and I parked ourselves at the bar...we only planned to stay for a pint each, but our beertender was so friendly that we ended up staying for a shared 5 pints. VEGAN REVIEW! Updated after owner response. Their online menu says they serve the Beyond burger but when we got there the physical menu said they only had a "vegetarian patty" to substitute. Our server told us the substitute was only vegetarian and not vegan. The owner Jason has reached out to me and let me know that they DO offer the Beyond burger (which is 100% vegan and gluten free), so make sure you ask for it! They also have a black bean patty which I'm assuming is the vegetarian option. Since we didn't think they had a vegan burger we just ordered a large order of the tots which, to be fair, was quite large; they literally came out on a sheet tray! The tots were solid, well seasoned. Their beer selection is pretty great, and brewed on site; the hazy IPA was delicious! Like lots of places in Eastern WA, Big House is learning how to cater to different dietary needs than just the carnivore, and I appreciate the effort. Hopefully in the future there will be more clarity from the menu and staff so that all kinds of eaters can dine without fear or disappointment! Would have loved to try the Beyond burger here, and I will next time. Giving these guys a hopeful 4 stars for the effort and consideration taken after the fact. read more

Not a bad brewpub but not one of my favorites as we tried out all of the breweries in Walla Walla on our first trip there. I'm always looking for bready or unusual recipe style beers and the beer that is their exclusive here falls just short of that as I left with impression that they were just covering the basics and didn't offer anything that could come across as intimidating as far as beer drinking goes. I split an amber style beer here as to what drew my opinion on this. The pretzel appetizer we ordered got delivered to another table and then they ran out of the appetizer. The club sandwich was supposed to be on wheat. It came out on white bread. Came here with my husband Friday afternoon and was immediately sat on the patio with our pup. The restaurant and pub is super dog friendly and brought a water bowl out with our waters. Great beer and cocktail options for everyone's pallet. Their menu is awesome, fresh and local ingredients and the items were well put together. They have a specialty menu too which is what we ordered from. I got the cornucopia salad with grilled chicken which was huge and you could taste the fresh ingredients. the property itself was so nice- restaurant looks recently renovated and they a huge full bar. they did a good job with all of it. we sat on the patio which is gigantic with comfortable clean tables and umbrellas, and lots of TVs on the walls. our server was just not very nice. unfortunately she wasn't friendly and wanted nothing to do with us. no niceties, no conversation- it was "what can I get you?" over and over. kind of a bummer, but whatever. she should have warned us how gigantic the portions were because we ordered way too much food for two people. to start we had the loaded tater tots. they were so good. we could have just had those with meat added and would have been stuffed! they bring them out on a cookie sheet with queso, and all the fixings. I didn't want to stop eating them, i'm serious. for our meals I got fish tacos and my mom got the french dip sandwich. my tacos were just ok. the fish was dry and tasted like old oil. they put cheese on top of the lettuce and it melted in top which was weird. the shells were ok but a little greasy. I wasn't impressed. I should have just ate the tater tots. as for my mom, she enjoyed the french dip. it looked good and fresh. I would likely come back here, but not when they first open for lunch. I think coming for dinner would be a better option- fresher food and likely more caffeinated employees. read more
