The Bees Knees is a must have at Salt! I am not a gin fan, but it is so refreshing. I wish we had found this place sooner.

Such a cool, lowkey, boujee spot. For the service and experience that you get, you would expect to pay much higher prices than you do. We got the Wagyu burger and crab cake. Both were excellent. Highly recommend for date night if you're willing to pay mid to high prices! read more

Really enjoyed this place for the food, drinks, and the service. Our server was great (gentleman with the long hair but can't remember this name) and he recommended a ton of stuff and rolled with the punches our group gave him. We started with truffle fries, calamari, and the hummus with the ground meat- it was all so good! They have happy hour even on the weekends and I enjoyed the seasonal drinks, especially the one with the basil oil which was so refreshing. I was definitely impressed by the whole place, the ambiance, the covid precautions and can't wait to come back. read more

It was confusing when I tried looking up the address and finding this place! It is where the doors are for Open Road and you walk straight into wooden doors (do not go upstairs). It's a dark romantic vibe, with good music and a bar with tables. I had a grand ol time here, with good food, drinks, and customer service. It's definitely a spot I would recommend people try! If this was closer to home, I'd go here frequently. I highly recommend the bees knees drink which the waitress told me is now on the dessert menu, but it used to be on the cocktail's menu! It was delicious! For a pretty bubble on top that reads salt on the cocktail - get apply pressure! Both cocktails are good, but bee knees is definitely my favorite. As for the appetizers, I enjoyed the caesar salad, and pork belly buns. The entree, the lobster risotto was delicious. SALT is a whole mood. I do want to come back and try their other cocktails, I've heard great things about them. read more

Refreshingly bold, yet not overpowering flavors, cool vibe, and excellent service. One of the best cocktails I've had in the DMV. I can't wait to come again. read more

It's great to see premier dining in the DMV area. These cocktails have a certain amount of creativity and effectiveness that just isn't seen with Alamo beer. I tried to convince Boomhauer of this and he refused to believe. Nancy and I enjoyed the Waygu burger and the mix of 90s rap and old VH1 video countdown songs. If you want to visit one of the premier restaurants and have a great experience, visit here. Until next time, Back to Arlen.... read more

Delicious food especially the filet sliders and the ambiance is perfect for date night.

I met a few friends at Salt in Arlington for an early dinner. It's a small hidden gem of a restaurant with a speakeasy and intimate vibe. We ordered a round of drinks, which were artfully made along with some food. We weren't a big fan of the buns we ordered and the flavor of one of the drinks, but other than that everything else was delicious (especially the calamari). It's definitely a little pricy for the amount of food you get, but worth it for the experience. read more

Blown away by this place! Made a reservation for 7:30 tonight and was not disappointed. Perfect date night spot and major speak easy vibes. It's on the lower level of the Open Road Bar. We were sat right away by the friendly hostess and given a couple options for seating. The restaurant was about half full and had a fun mix of music playing, but not obnoxiously loud or anything. We were greeted by our server, great and professional. He offered us some cocktails right away and I had heard good things about the cocktails. The reviews are right! They are impressive. They have this one cocktail called "I'm the captain now" and It's the bartenders choice so It changes. I ordered that one and tonight it was a peanut infused whiskey with some cinnamon flavor. Wow! What a great drink. You could really taste the peanut. My boyfriend got the Smokey strawberry drink (can't remember the exact name) and it literally tasted like strawberry hookah lol like It had actual smoke. We started with the Peking duck steamed buns! Delicious. The duck was tender and buns were perfectly steamed complete with some creamy sauce and radishes. These get a 5/5. Our next starter was the tuna tartare nachos. The wonton chips were great and so was the sauce on the tuna. The tuna was a tad bit fishy, but still totally edible. Sometimes I feel like at restaurants there will just be some nights that the fish isn't as fresh, definitely not bad, just not as fresh as It could be. Nonetheless still a good dish. 3.5/5 Our next round of cocktails was the "don't call It a honey dew" and my boyfriend got the mezcal cocktail. My honeydew one wasn't as sweet as I expected which was fine. Hints of cucumber, very summery. I hate mezcal lol so I didn't enjoy my boyfriend's drink but that's a personal thing. We decided to both order the wagyu burger and the sesame crusted tuna. The wagyu burger was the best burger I have ever tasted seriously. So good!!! Then again I love wagyu. 5/5 The sesame crusted tuna was again a little fishy, but came on top of these awesome noodles and some shelled edamame. 4/5 Overall the vibes of this place won me over. So sophisticated and It was a plus that the food and drinks were great and great service. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back! read more

Amazing drinks in a fun atmosphere. Highly recommended. Get the "I'm the captain" for a little extra fun.

This restaurant is a must try, never had anything like it. Great steaks and very fun dining. Will be back.

What an awesome and quaint place in VA! The ambience is really romantic (perfect for a date night or a special occasion), the customer service experience felt quite personal and pleasant, and most importantly, every dish we ordered was delicious! We had the Caesar salad for appetizer (must try!!), hummus with wagyu beer (good portion and interestingly delicious), bolognese pasta (love the crunch texture on top), and risotto / lobster, and truffle fries. I couldn't get all the cocktail pictures but this place definitely has legit mixologists working behind the bar! The taste, presentation, and creativity of the cocktails reminded me of a speakeasy bar. Although there was one cocktail (forgot the name) which had a little too much hibiscus milky/creamy foam on top of the drink, which was overpowering the drink. Make sure to get a reservation if you want to try this place! Oh and lastly, their restaurant sign is small and really easy to miss - it's within Open Road but take the stairs downstairs. They are under the same hospitality network. read more

Amazing craft cocktail lounge tucked away in a cute location. Loving the vibe and the drinks were delicious.

Nice atmosphere, excellent service and very tasty food (though the menu is somewhat limited). I'll try to get back there soon!

We went for happy hour and sat at the bar. Food was good, ambience was good. Not sure about the overall experience because my card was charged $20 more than the check I put my card down on. Full story: We asked for the check and when we looked at the bill it was $89. I was looking over the bill trying to figure out if the happy hour prices were on there or not, and the waiter came over and asked if everything looked okay, so I just said I was looking to see if the happy hour prices were on there (I got wine, my bf got beer and burger on hh). He said he would double check but I gave him my card anyway and said oh no problem just double check and then you can run it. He walked back over and said that he talked to the manager and said the happy hour prices were on there but my wine was not included in happy hour. I said no worries thanks for checking! Then he brought the check back with my card already run, but the check was now $109. We looked it over and realized that the first check didn't have our last round of drinks on it, which is totally fine by us to pay for what we got (obviously) but having worked in the restaurant industry for years I know that charging more than what the check was shown to the customer is a big no no. If our server had forgotten to charge us he should've came back over with the new check before running my card IMO. Overall I'd say it was a good meal, but don't think we'd go back because this situation was a little sketchy to me. read more

A most rewarding surprise at this hidden speakeasy + restaurant. Not many out there in the VA area and surely not many speakeasies with actual food. I picked this restaurant for my husband's birthday on St Paddy's Day based on reviews and the fact that it had wagyu on the menu. It did NOT disappoint!! Loved the speakeasy-esque vibes and as soon as we sat down we were greeted by the nicest waitress. She gave us the most amazing cocktail recommendations (to which I accepted all and they were all fantastic). The food was incredible. We got the wagyu meatballs, shrimp, pork buns for appetizers and split the wagyu burger and a tuna dish (the nights special, not sure the name). Then for dessert we had dessert cocktails recommended by the waitress and split the chocolate cheesecake. It really was a wonderful experience all around. I wish I would have gotten the waitresses name so I could give her an extra shout out! read more

The husband and I went to Salt for their Monday "date night" dinner. We liked the dark, cosy underground environment with very little signage outside. Staff were wonderful, and we liked the cauliflower hummus and pork bao buns. The only dish that was off was the seared tuna, which we didn't eat as it had clearly gone bad because it tasted sour. I told our waitress and she and all the staff were very gracious about this, and they charged us only for the date night price appetizers. I don't fault the staff for this, and fault myself as much for ordering the fish in the first place; as the late, great Anthony Bourdaine used to say, "Don't order fish on a Monday at a restaurant." Other than this we liked Salt. It's more of a bar than a restaurant, but I'd like to go back for a cocktail sometime. read more

What a great experience. I was Leary after reading reviews about burger. So we didn't order the burger. I love that a glass of Syrah was offered for happy hour. The carpaccio was delish! You must try. My Chilean Sea bass was amazing. Perfect portion. My husband ordered the Cowboy 24oz. We will be back. We love the vibe of feeling like in a speak easy. We also enjoyed meeting the manager Sarah. The wait staff excellent service. read more

This place has the opportunity to be an amazing restaurant in the DMV. The food is really good. Unfortunately, the service is struggling. The good news is the service should be easy to fix. For the food, my fiancé said she had the best burrata of her life while being paired with the fig jam. The portion is generous. They just need to provide more crackers/bread when eating it. 3 is too few. The Peking duck buns are extremely flavorful. While I thought the Wagyu burger was fine, my fiancé loved every bit of it. The garlic shrimp was a bit one dimensional and needed something else. Service: We were given outdated menus when we sat down, but props to the hostess for recognizing and fixing. It took way too long to be greeted by our server as we had already made choices for drinks and food and were just sitting and waiting. We ordered four dishes. We got 1 dish to start and then they brought the other 3 all at once. You have to better space this out. Now we are rushing to eat 3 dishes before they get cold. During dinner we noticed a runner attempting to deliver food to the wrong table. Later it happened to us where they thought we ordered something, but didn't. Something must be wrong with table numbers or system. During the meal our server was never in sight. He only came back once to take another drink order. He actually brought the wrong drink, but we kept it, unsure when we could see him again. 3 stars is impressive for all the service issues. This place has so much opportunity with some quality dishes. Figure out the service and this place will do very well. read more

One of my friends took me here and I am so glad she flagged for me. It's a bit removed from all the main roads and sits beneath another restaurant. Once you enter the general building, you have to know which unmarked wooden door to walk into to get to the entrance of the place which adds the ambiance. The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable on all the offerings. The lighting was dim enough to see your party but completely forget the other patrons. The drinks were AMAZING. I am not one to love a cocktail but boy were these made to perfection with care. The food was some of the best I've had. Small portion sizes so you aren't weighed down but impeccable. read more

Went to this establishment for drinks around happy hour. It's set in an intimate setting in the hopes to elicit a speakeasy vibe, but it's hardly charming given Georgetown is literally under half a mile away in comparison. Happy hour discounts are paltry, and are still very overpriced for the value. They offer very unique cocktails and entrees, but I can only speak to the drinks since the appetizers seemed more in line for the price of a substantial entree. I believe the upstairs is the same establishment, and their happy hour prices are much more reasonable (for Rosslyn). The vibe seemed a little rushed by the waitstaff if you weren't there to rack up a large bill. If money is no object, it could be a fun place to checkout but simply for the novelty. read more

I was hesitant to write a review for this place because I wanted to keep this Speakeasy to myself! But the word has gotten out. I've been here four times now and every visit is more crowded than the last. Everything here is phenomenal. Full dinner menu and eccentric appetizers. But the cocktails is where Salt really stands out. If you can't figure out what you want, the bartenders and wait staff will gladly give suggestions or make you a custom cocktail. The venue is very classy, dimly lit, perfect for a date or small group of friends, but I've seen plenty of single people like myself just sitting at the bar enjoying a cocktail and conversation with neighbors or the friendly, well-dressed bar staff. read more

Wow, this place is phenomenal and is definitely going to be added to our list of regular dinner spots. I told our waiter/bartender, Jag (he's fantastic) that I was hoping to try something different in regards to drinks and he suggested the Clover Club which hadn't been added to the menu yet (this will be my go-to drink at Salt because it's just the right mix of interesting flavors without being overly sweet). We also ordered the house made truffle and parmesan chips (delicious), the fall burrata (delicious as well), and the tuna with stir fry vegetables (oh my goodness, it was beyond delicious). It's such a cool, dark, relaxing atmosphere with a really outgoing staff. Can't wait to go back! read more

Disappointing on many levels. Cocktails were good but tiny- like 4 sips for $20. Food was decent but nothing to rave about. We ordered a bottle of wine and half way through we were told we exceed our 2 hour time limit. This would make sense if there were no open tables and we were just sitting there with no food or drinks but neither of these were true- plenty of open tables and we had full drinks. I asked what they recommended we do and they ended up bringing our glasses up to the sports bar upstairs, which ironically enough was packed with NO open tables. A few minutes later they asked if we wanted to go back down to a table but by then it was just laughable. So we just ended up finishing our wine at the sports bar and laughing at how $200 later we got kicked out of a "speakeasy" inside of a WeWork in Rosslyn. I don't see this place lasting. read more

First visit to this new Rosslyn "speakeasy". Lucked into a table after another party did not show up. Attentive host with a good memory slotted me quickly on the waitlist then guided my friend to join me later. Crowd was the perfect size to make the place seem busy, without being too loud or crowded. Was able to enjoy a great happy hour catching up with a friend without yelling at each other over the surrounding din. We shared a burrata which hit the spot for a pre-dinner snack. I ordered the smoking on a plane whiskey cocktail. Presentation was impressive, though infusion of cherry smoke was a bit much, l felt that I was inhaling pure mesquite with every sip. Only other minor issue was waitstaff was a little gung ho on trying to clear my cocktail--two attempts before I was actually finished. read more

I will never understand how this place has gotten less than a 5 star review. I always order the Bee's Knees but all of their cocktails are very aesthetically pleasing and delicious, even their food which most are bar food portions so keep that in mind. One of the most delicious meals I've had in Arlington. This restaurant is semi-underground with a discrete entrance that gives speakeasy vibes. Glad we made a reservation on a Tuesday night because it was pretty busy. There was a 50% off deal on bottles of wine and the cheese plate was delicious with figs and fresh honey comb. The seared tuna dish was full of flavor and the perfect portion size to be comfortably full. The crab cake was also delicious. Definitely want to come back here. read more

I came here last night with my group of girls, it was our first time coming to Salt. When you walk in it definitely does give off a speakeasy vibe. As for the food, we started with these tasty appetizers that our server suggested. The tuna tartare nachos and the crispy calamari was delicious and for my entree I got the Wagyu burger, definitely recommended it!
