Roasted chicken - a must order!!! Chef Tim makes the BEST chicken.

A charming place tucked in the heart of Georgetown. Chef Tim Hollingsworth cooks from the heart and every dish was impeccably prepared - from the creative take on classic fish sticks, heirloom tomato salad, succulent pan roasted chicken, rib eye cap, to the bread service and onion ring sides. The cocktails were visually beautiful too! The ambience exudes an older art deco style and by the time it came to dessert, one can finish off dinner with an amazing sundae with all the accoutrements upstairs at the very romantic piano jazz bar Bernadette's. Such a special place that will ultimately be an icon must-go staple for Washington D.C. If I could give this place 10 stars out of 5, I would!

I love to write,so this review gets my undivided attention... because The Oak Room is where I fell in love. The Oak Room is a night that leans in, a place where the city softens its voice and lets luxury do the talking. This is high‑end, intentional, the kind of elegance that doesn't need to announce itself. You feel it the moment you arrive. From the moment you step inside, the service wraps around you; warm, attentive, a quiet choreography from front door to back of house. The management moves like silk, and the sommelier pairs your wine with the kind of intuition that feels almost intimate... a moment of perfect pairing that lingers like a touch. And then there is the owner; gorgeous, present, yet gentle in the way he carries the room. His kindness radiates, his passion hums beneath every detail. He is special. You feel it instantly. The room glows in amber and shadow, oak panels rising like carved monuments, brick‑vaulted ceilings curving overhead like the arches of a secret society. This is luxury carved into architecture, a high‑end sanctuary dressed in warmth and intention. Alluring sconces flicker softly, casting light that grazes the skin the way a whisper grazes the ear. Cocktails arrive as small seductions, crafted with intention, the kind you sip slowly because the night deserves patience. High‑end mixology at its finest and personable might I add, Chef Tim Hollingsworth sends out a refined American grill menu that feels both confident and tender, each dish a quiet invitation to linger a little longer. You taste it, you feel it, you want it again. And again. Like a love story only real chemistry could write. I never want this to end. But the night has a second pulse. Upstairs. Bernadette's. A burgundy‑velvet, candlelit dream where the air is warm and the music breathes. This is European luxury, a high‑end lounge that feels like a passport stamp. Live jazz curls through the room, slow, sultry, deliberate... the kind of sound that slides across your shoulders and settles low in your stomach. The singer stands in the velvet room, her voice gliding through the space like silk slipping down a spine, pulling every heartbeat into her orbit. It's sensual, with a late‑night New York vibe... the kind of energy that makes you forget the hour and remember the feeling. Georgetown didn't just get an upgrade. It got a seduction, a velvet‑draped, jazz‑kissed, high‑end sanctuary where the night touches you without ever laying a hand. Chills all over... This is love. This Foodie fell in love with every breath and bite. The food was delicious... nothing was a miss. A must‑try. Mark my words: this is the new it place. The Oak Room is here to stay. And like the end of every good love story, she left with more love in her heart... because only true love can make you yearn for more. I need more. I want more. The Oak Room my true love.

First, thank you to the entire staff for their impeccable hospitality. The hostess was warm and inviting and I especially loved that she took the time to know me and passed on details about our date night to the wait staff. Next our waiter, Ramon, was a champion! He knew the menu from beginning to end and provided excellent recommendations that were all a big hit! Then there was our incredible sommelier, Corbin. She knows wine and gave me an excellent recommendation for red wine which paired perfectly with the main dish. Moving along, this place is what you'd want in a fine dining private club. The decor makes it sexy yet inviting. I simply loved that they blended exposed brick ceilings with fine oak wood, velvet, and touches of rich deep shades of forest green throughout the restaurant. The black and white photos were also a hit. Gosh this place was super sexy and if you think that's it, go upstairs to Bernadette's. There is a remarkable outdoor bar and red shades...My compliments to their designer!!!!! DRINKS: Him: Smoked Old Fashioned and later a Tokyo Old Fashioned- He loved both! Me: Americano cocktail-quite delightful! And a glass of Gamay Noir El Dorado ! This was perfect for both the prime rib and seafood. STARTERS: Complimentary fried olives to open up your palette for the flavorful ride ahead. We seriously loved these! A must have- the Clam Ceviche: Talk about flavors meshing together to deliver what guest deserves, an appetizing starting experience. The blend of citrus with a hint of fattiness from the clams were broken by the savoriness of the buttery crackers provided. The avocado dices kept the dish cool and refreshing. The entire dish was exquisite in both taste and presentation. Next, the Fish Sticks: To be fair, there was a small mishap so I'd prefer to return again to give them another try. But I look forward to indeed experiencing them. Parker House Rolls: Complete sin in a roll lol. Be careful because these are dangerously soft and delicious!!!!!! MAINS: The portions are perfect for sharing-a plus! Dover Sole: This fish was FANTASTIC!!!!! The brown butter, capers, and burst of lemon were oozing out of the fish. Seriously cannot get over how delectable it was. English Cut Prime Rib: Another showstopper! The medium rare cook was exactly what you needed because the cut upheld its fine balance of both juiciness and natural flavors. There was a remarkable Crème Fraîche on the side but trust me when I say that you'd want to indulge in the prime rib without any additions. The juices stayed in place!!! Sides: Creamed Spinach: One of its kind! There is no competition for how flavorful this was Mashed Potatoes: INCREDIBLE! There is an entire process that goes into this to involve blending together different potatoes to achieve the highest quality mashed potatoes. This kitchen is ran by a master chef! Someone who knows how to push the line with flavors in order to create memorable dishes. I'm absolutely blown away! We ordered dessert and received a complimentary treat: Vanilla & Chocolate Soft Served Sundae- SO much fun and a playful dessert for couples. We laughed as we tried different toppings together. The Mama's Cobbler-as a certified cobbler girlie...there is NO other cobbler like this one! I almost cried by how phenomenal the flavors were in this dessert! IMPECCABLE! We ended our evening upstairs in Bernadette's and had a few more drinks. I highly recommend this place for date night! It's a date night spot for mature crowds and I loved everything about that!

Snagged a 7pm reservation on opening night! As a steak lover, I don't think DC can ever have enough classic steakhouses, and The Oak Room is a great addition to the Georgetown scene. Attentive, considerate (but not overbearing) service throughout from our server Renee, and special shoutout to sommelier Christian, who made the bottle ordering process less intimidating by simply asking us two simple questions: "What do you like?" and "What's your budget?" and brought out a lovely bottle of Syrah well within our price range. I highly recommend the queen cut prime rib, cooked to absolute perfection, and the ribeye cap, the crusted char of which my husband raved about, that came with a bone marrow reduction sauce and roasted garlic. If you also miss the generously sized onion rings from places like BLT Steak, you'll find a solid tower of them here. We ended the night with the ice cream sundae and every topping you can think of: Oreos, honeycomb, peanuts, chocolate sprinkles, etc. So fun! The only thing I'd skip is the fish sticks appetizer - found them to be a little too greasy and not as thick as I hoped. I will definitely be back at The Oak Room for my prime rib fix and to try other menu items - and hopefully make room to visit upstairs Bernadette's for a post-meal cocktail!

We recently visited The Oak Room in Georgetown for dinner and enjoyed trying a variety of dishes. The restaurant has an elegant, upscale American grill atmosphere that's great for a special occasion. I started with the Menage Au Poire ($18), a refreshing and fruity cocktail made with Grey Goose Pear, vanilla, lychee, and soda. To share, we ordered the Fish Sticks ($28) with Petrossian caviar beurre blanc and the Hamachi ($28) with sweet and sour tomatoes, avocado, and toasted nori. The Hamachi was fresh and flavorful, while the Fish Sticks offered a unique twist with the caviar beurre blanc. For our entrées, we had Bernadette's Wagyu Cheeseburger ($32) with Comté, pickles, and aioli, along with the Dover Sole ($89) prepared with lemon, brown butter, and capers. Unfortunately, both entrées were noticeably saltier than expected, which overpowered some of the flavors and made them less enjoyable, especially considering the price point. Dessert ended the meal on a high note. Mama's Cobbler ($16) with peach, blackberry, and vanilla crème fraîche was warm and comforting, while the Pudding Pie ($16) with Guinness, chocolate, and vanilla cream brought back fond childhood memories of a dirt cake with its rich, nostalgic flavor. While we enjoyed several aspects of the meal, the overall experience didn't quite meet our expectations for the price point, leaving us feeling it was good rather than exceptional.

Amazing experience all around. Been following Tim Hollingsworth since his time at French Laundry and more recently on Netflix's "The Final Table" and shows like Beat Bobby Flay . When I learned he's opening The Oak Room & Bernadette's (in the space formerly occupied by El Centro: sticky floors and horny dudes after 10pm ) I had to make a reservation. Luckily, they've spent millions refurbishing the entire space and it's beautiful. We got a sneak peek at the outdoor space as well and can't wait until it's ready. For apps we tried the heirloom tomato salad, shrimp cocktail and bone marrow. For entrees we shared the Wagyu burger and the filet mignon. For sides we had to go with the mashed potatoes and onion rings. Everything we tried was amazing, the best bite of the night was the bone marrow. I'd come back for that alone. My only critique was the drink pours were abysmal. Wine pours were about half of what you'd normally receive at any decent steak house. My vesper martinis were also half pours at best. Overall a good experience, but I'd say the bartender needs to improve the portions or stop skimming.

But, this weekend, I needed reservations for a group and they had what I wanted, when I needed it. So, off to the Tabard Inn we went. The restaurant is charming, quaint and old. It leans heavily into its unique character and not without some success. I felt like I was walking into the past. Old worn wood floors, old upholstered furniture that had seen better days, heck, the place even smelled old. But, rather than turn me off, it was comfortable and inviting, kind of like going to your grandma's house where everything looks like a museum but you know you're gonna get some love there. The staff could not be nicer, better, more friendly. They know how to "do" hospitality and do it well. The food was good, very good. I had the pork shank. I am telling you that I could only finish about 1/3 of it because the serving was so large. And the meat was fall of the bone, cut with your fork, tender. The flavor was rich and intense. Great job! The lamb chops looked fantastic. The fried chicken was just okay according to my spouse. Is the Tabard Inn the best restaurant in DC? No and, guess what, it's not trying to be. It is just trying to satisfy the diners. There is no haute cuisine here. Tried and true dishes, prepared very well. The other thing about this restaurant is its flexibility. You want to dress casual? Do it. You looking for a dress up, old fashioned sort of dining room? Yes, that works too. Romantic dinner with your special guy or gal? Absolutely! They seem to satisfy everyone here. And they definitely satisfied me. Will I go back again? Yes absolutely. Do I recommend the Tabard Inn? Of course!

Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! If I lived here this would be my new regular spot.

I could not identify or really pinpoint where the black truffles came in, but the beef was well seasoned. The additions were a dollar too expensive across the board so I skipped those. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal. Capital Burger servers sliced sweet pickles in a jar. That.. is a step up from popcorn, but not by much... If I was in the mood for a burger and boozy milkshake, this would be on the list, but not my first choice.

I was particularly excited about the bottomless beverage option, but we were surprised to learn that we could only choose one drink for the entire bottomless experience. That restriction wasn't listed on the website or the in-house menu, which felt misleading and was especially disappointing since I came specifically to try the different drink options. Service was also a little slow. We had a reservation and arrived on time, but still waited about 15 minutes to be seated despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. We both ordered steak and eggs medium rare. Mine came out more done than requested, while my companion's steak was fattier and somewhat chewy. The eggs were very standard, and overall, the food was average at best. The ambiance was pleasant but nothing particularly memorable. Honestly, given the restaurant's high reviews, I expected more. It's fine if you're looking for a convenient brunch while you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. P.S. Yelp is currently displaying a notice about suspicious review activity for this business (which I've attached), which I found interesting given how different my experience was from the overall rating.
