    Caviar and oysters

We enjoyed the perfect meal here. From the moment we stepped in to when we left, we felt taken care of by the entire staff. I had called ahead about needing to get out by a certain time, as well as a birthday we were celebrating, and everyone knew our situation before we arrived and they were still able to give us a great experience. We chose the 6 course menu, and had the caviar tasting. The best bites of the meal were by far in the caviar tasting. So flavorful. I'll remember that forever. All the dishes were amazing. Definitely recommend this place for special occasions.

Great overall experience. I do believe everyone should try at least once a Michelin experience and this is very good option. Team was great and very responsive. I got the 4 course meal and that was more than enough. Lots of seating and if you get good weather they have an open patio you can sit at. Worth it especially if in the area!

Lovely personalized menu and anniversary note!

Amazing staff and experience! They printed us our own menu to take home featuring the selections we had, and brought out desserts celebrating our anniversary! They also have a lovely outdoor seating with blankets and fireplaces where you can smoke cigars!

Fantastic Chef's counter experience! Seeing all the chefs preparing the food added a whole new level to the whole experience. Service was impeccable, food was phenomenal, and the whole vibe at the chief's counter was perfect. My favorite dishes for this October menu - A5 Wagyu enhancement. - The gnocchi. - The Burrata. Everything else was delicious, but those stole the show for me!

We came here for my husband's birthday and I was 7 months pregnant at the time. They were very accommodating and made updates to the dishes for me. The food was delicious and it was great that we could see everything prepared in the open kitchen. The overall ambiance was nice. We did almost have issues finding the restaurant. The service was as expected of a michelin star restaurant. However, my only issue was that when we received the check... our server told us his tip was not included in the 20% that they were already charging us. There are multiple fees that are charged at these type of restaurants that make me feel like they are no longer worth the price for what we get. This is not a restaurant i would revisit, definitely a one and done for us.

We came to Masseria for our wedding anniversary and honestly it was just okay for the price. I will say up front, our total bill came out to over $700. The service is what you would expect from a Michelin restaurant. It's fantastic. The food is great, but not $700 mind-blowing great. Our favorites: the focaccia starter and the pasta dish! The gremolata was also refreshing and delicious. The wine list is expansive and impressive, but the waiter did try to upsell us at every turn, which was very annoying. The flatware and glassware are very beautiful and the restaurant itself is visually appealing, but we will likely not be back.

Had an okay meal. Wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night which was perfect bc it wasn't loud like most dc places and the service was mostly okay (they were a bit stingy with offering fresh clean plates). Can't remember how many courses we had, they were okay, but the truffle option was a huge disappointment. Another friend also opted for truffles and said same. With two drinks and the tasting menu with truffle option, my check came to just over $500. Dinner was okay but not worth that and I probably won't be back soon.

5/5 stars for atmosphere and customer service 4.5/5 stars for food 5/5 stars for drink pairings This is only my 3rd Michelin-star restaurant, but so far, it's my favorite. I loved the vibe, R&B music (at least, that's what they were playing when I was there), customer service, proximity to the open kitchen (from the sala), and six-course meal experience. There were some dishes that changed flavors as you chewed, which was really fun. I highly recommend getting one or two add-ons like the drink pairings to elevate the eating experience or the cannoli truffle mousse combo. The latter was one of the best food my sis and I ate when we went. We were in awe with the whole experience. The only course that could've better compared to the other courses was the chicken/duck/cherry sauce course. Before we left, they gave us a gift bag with two small bottles of olive oil with their restaurant name on it and some chocolates and fruit bites (passion fruit, I think). They were all so cute and was such a nice gesture. Note, there is a parking garage behind the restaurant to the left. Take a right at the intersection past the restaurant (if the restaurant is to your right), then turn left when you get to the lots. You'll see parking garages. You can park for free for two hours (at least, that was the case when I went).

Had a really nice birthday dinner here. Agree with another reviewer that the best part was the bread! Other standouts were the burrata and candy to go boxes. I thought the food, environment, and Pace of service was better here than at nearby El Cielo.

    Jenna W.

While the food here was good, I think the price was overall not worth it. The bread course was definitely my favorite and the items were creative. The service was also impeccable and attentive, and it was fun to sit at the counter and watch the chefs work their magic. But with other solid Italian options in the area, I'm not sure I would revisit.

We've ordered take-out here twice and I've been impressed, but this Anniversary dinner where hubs made surprise reservations and dining here was oh so divine! Service was impeccable. Every single staff member was not just polite, but kind and showed up as if they actually enjoyed working there. Masseria took extra precautions to not only keep their staff safe, but their customers as well, without feeling like you're in a prison (i.e. masks on when a waitress/waiter approached your table, waiting at your table and having someone call you to the bathroom if it was occupied) Everything looked itty bitty tiny when we got the food and I thought I would be leaving this place hungry, but I certainly did Not! I had just the perfect amount to sustain me to the next dish and there was not a single thing hubs and I did not enjoy. Every single thing shined and dripped of care, effort, and love taken to making each dish. Thank goodness they offered no complimentary breads or I would've been Violet from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie with the Oompa Loompa's pushing me out the door! Def worth a (repeat) trip here for sure! Explore, be open to the possibilities they send your way, and let them blow your tastebuds out of the water! Thank you Masseria!

Amazing! Did not disappoint. Food, service and ambiance were all perfect. We sat at the table by the kitchen. Highly recommend if you are looking for a special evening in DC.

One of the best meals I've had in DC. Service: 4/5 Taste: 5/5 Presentation: 5/5 Overall Experience: 5/5 My group went with the 6-course meal, but as you can see in the pictures, got more than 6 courses. There was a starter ginger shot, bread course, and "pre-desert" that were all included and were nice surprises to our evening. From the start, we were given towelettes to clean our hands. The bathrooms also use towels instead of napkins. The spacing between each course was roughly 15 minutes, but we never felt like we were waiting too long. We opted for an optional foie gras black truffle cannoli - the cheapest of the add-ons, but certainly worth including. Every bite was delicious. The only complaint I have is that our server felt pushy / rehearsed. Continually making recommendations when we tried to make it clear we didn't really want anything on top of what we had ordered. I get thats their job, but for a Michelin star restaurant, I would've preferred a more amicable server, rather than one that just wants to do business. Other than that, our water, plates and utensils were promptly refilled / changed. Masseria is an easy recommendation from me and will surely be coming back to try their 8-course menu.

How much is the tasting menu?

Depends on the type of tasting menu! They start at 162$ to 215$; there are more details on their reservation page on their website as well.

Is the full menu served at the bar?

I don't believe so. The chef's choice is served there.

Hi, can someone give me a better description of "casual elegance" attire, please? Both for women and for men. We have reservations in April and don't want to appear out of place

For men, I would say at least a button down with slacks/jeans and dress shoes. For women, pretty much anything that isn't athletic wear. I saw a variety of attire, but nothing super dressy.

Is the courtyard first come first serve and do they offer the full menu there?

You have to make reservations for the courtyard as well. They serve the full menu.

The food at this location was great. The red snapper with the rice and tomatoes was very flavorful. The red snapper could have been cooked a little harder. However, other than that it was great. Next, the hostess led us to a table inside where the magic of candles, cozy tables, and intimate booths immediately meets your eyes. Did I mention that we sat in most comfy green velvet chairs in our cozy booth? How sexy! Service: our waiter, Jordan, was the best! He provided great service and recommendations. However, shoutout to the rest of the staff because it was truly all hands on deck. Drinks: the bartender is indeed a mixologist! There is no question of the magic he created in a glass. Her drink- I ordered the Attractive Nuisance, an elevated spritz. The drink was perfectly balanced with flavors to include G.H. Mumm Champagne, Avua Prata Cachaca, Cocchi Americano, Saffron, Vanilla. I literally tasted all the flavors in the drink and the liquor ratio was just right. Of course I went with another round, you simply have to try it understand why I did. His drink: El Tiburón-Let's just say that he said that this is now one of his favorite cocktails because it was smooth! Small bites: the kitchen was out of mussels and their famous donuts so we decided to try the Franks en Crute, the sexy adult version of pigs in a blanket lol. Such a delicious treat, well balanced flavors giving both sweet (flaky puff pastry) and savory (well grilled wagyu beef). Definitely recommend. The music was perfect for the evening! The bar was filled with all matured folks enjoying their group meets or dates, the atmosphere welcomed all. As I stated earlier, this has now become a regular on the list and I'm excited to visit again.
