    Mont Blanc

Glad the line was short and the ordering process was smooth. The storefront could be a bit more organized, as the small seating area on the side can get crowded. I highly recommend their Mont Blanc mini cake. If you're a chestnut lover, you can't go wrong with it. It's not overly sweet and has light, delicate cake layers. The yuzu and mango cakes were also delicious. I've tried their sesame cake before, and it's another great option if you prefer something light and less sweet.

Late to review but a friend and I stopped by in March for a sweet treat when we were visiting from out of town. We walked in around 1 pm on a Sunday and the place was full but not packed. Their desserts looked so beautiful and pristine; it was hard to choose which ones we wanted to try. We ended up getting two of the hyper-realistic mousse cakes: the pear and the yuzu. I also got the sesame latte. Both the mousse cakes were amazing. There were so many components to each of them. The flavors and textures were such an experience to have all together. The sesame latte was really good too with such a fragrant flavor. I would definitely come back to try their other cakes!

I finally tried every black sesame item from this viral asian-french patisserie in NYC. Everyone knows Salswee for the cute fruit-shaped cakes, but I honestly think people are sleeping on their black sesame menu. I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and nutty all the black sesame flavors were, and that's high praise coming from me because I grew up eating a lot of black sesame desserts in Asia. *Black Sesame Mochi Cake $18.99 I got this mini whole cake for my birthday. Perfect size for a small household (around 3 to 4 slices). I just wish the chiffon had a stronger black sesame flavor, and I would've loved even more mochi and black sesame lava inside. *Black Sesame Puff Square $6.95 HUGE and such a good value for the size. It's a croissant cube with black sesame butter swirled all throughout the loaf. The inside pulled apart easily like fluffy milk bread, while the outside stayed crispy and buttery like a croissant. I could not stop tearing off piece after piece. *Black Sesame Latte $6.99 The black sesame latte was SO GOOD I got it twice in one week. It had this super nutty black sesame cream foam over a black sesame milk base, and I could actually taste both the rich sesame flavor and the coffee.

Update to my review from a couple months ago--I came back to pick up a mini cake and a fruit trompe-l'œil mousse dessert and I was disappointed.... ...in how long the lines were! A surge in recent popularity meant on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm there was a line of 30ish people waiting inside to order. So much for my original plans to be in and out in 10-15 minutes! It took about 45 minutes in total--about 30 min waiting to order then 15 min waiting for the order. What I wasn't disappointed in was the execution of the cakes, the Ferrero Rocher cake $22.95 had a chocolate shell with bits of hazelnut in the shell and also in the center of the cake. The cake texture was fluffy and light, in line with Asian sponge cakes, and a whipped cream with a hint of hazelnut flavor. I wouldn't have minded if the cake flavor was a little stronger. The orange trompe-l'œil $10.95 was a feat! How they injected the liquid filling inside while maintaining the delicate shell with a perfect replica of an orange peel textured exterior--exemplifies a study in food physics for me. Not only did it look like a juicy citrus fruit, it tasted like one, and when you cut into it--kinda looked like you'd just squeezed a fresh one too. Gorgeous and delicious! I'll be back to try a some other fruits!

I'm not the biggest desserts person, so I fully expected to be underwhelmed by these desserts. Especially because I feel like everyone always says it's overhyped. I just wanted to try it for the novelty, but I actually loved these so much! It is on the pricier side, but it was nice for a big group of us to just share a bunch and get like a bite from each. It is really hard to split because they're so delicate, but we managed. I personally liked the blueberry the best, but the pear and mango were also really delicious. They really captured the natural flavor of all the fruits!

My bf's mom and cousin stopped in to grab us a few treats. Ordered: *Garlic Butter Croissant - warmed up *Pistachio Cube *Coconut Flake Bun *Blueberry dessert *Mango dessert - mango shaped *Coconut dessert I didn't try many as I wasn't feeling sweets but they all got rave reviews. The garlic butter croissant was SO GOOD, though, and (unexpectedly to me) filled with a rich, buttery cream. Prices were sooo reasonable for the quality and delicate nature of these desserts.

Swung by on a Sunday around 11 and there was really a small line of people. The display case for savory pastries was full but the sweet pastries were almost half empty (they seemed to be in the middle of replenishing it as I left). I ordered the orange, mango and mushroom suisse. There was a bit of a wait for the orders but it wasn't too bad. The cakes were secure in mini boxes and everything was packed into a nice paper tote bag for take out. The desserts were very delicate upon first glance but also easy to break apart (so things got a bit messy). The orange dessert had a more mellow and lighter flavor compared to the mango one. It had a orange mandarin jam center covered with a vanilla cream layer. I didn't really care too much for the chocolate rice crisp bottom layer. The leaves were maybe peppermint though if it was mint then that would make the whole dish edible. The mango dessert was sweeter than the orange one. The mango jam filling was sweet and had a few pieces of mango that were a bit sour but didn't take away from the overall sweet mango flavor. The cream covering the jam must've also been mango flavored. I really liked the mushroom suisse! I reheated it in the microwave for a bit before eating it. I loved the crispy exterior as it contrasted well with the softness of the puff pastry middle. The mushroom filling was also tasty as it reminded me a bit of cream of mushroom soup. I'll be giving their other savory pastries a try during my next visit. FYI, if posting on socials for the complimentary pastry, do so before ordering.

I've been to Salswee a good handful of times now and have tasted at least 10 different cakes/pastries. Every single dessert I've tried has been a hit, literally you can't go wrong with any of them! Their craft is so special and it's like a surprise in every bite. I love their mini cakes that are perfect for a small group of 4 to share. Their pastries are sweeter than the cakes so if you are looking for a balanced, not-too-sweet cake. This is where it's at!

    Cindy T.

Dropped by on whim to satisfy my sweet tooth. The pastries are the definition of aesthetic, with each one tasting similarly like their depiction. We got the mango pastry, which was not overly sweet but retained a hint of mango flavor. Service was quick and efficient. Location is easily accessible via the subway.

    Mango & Yuzu

The line up was insane, we waited about 30 minutes order and then another 30 minutes to receive our order... we went in and he later afternoon mid-March. The treats were delicious and from speaking to people in the shop, they also had really good things to say about their drinks. I would visit again if it wasn't as busy.

Great bakery with traditional beautiful baked goods plus "illusion" entremet in various fruit shapes. Worth the price for these unique treats. I loved the mango and Parmesan / mushroom croissant I had. Fast , friendly , helpful service and there's a code on your receipt for the clean bathroom which is welcome in this area of midtown. Yummy! We'll be back!

Omg I wish I had more stomach to eat more! The mousse cakes are so pretty and bursting with flavor. The yuzu was amazing. I would love to try one for the other cakes too like the mango sticky pudding. The pastries were fantastic as well like the black sesame block. Crispy exterior that holds its shape and wonderfully moist and soft inside. I tried the traffic light drink and it was delicious and the layers were nice on the eyes. Highly recommend!!

Quick service and decent pricing. Got the matcha velvet croissant and it was pretty good. Would stop by again if I'm in the area.

FELL APART!…read more I ordered a cake from a professional baker (Soma cakes) a few years ago that was beautifully made but was a bit bland, so I decided to look for a different baker. I found BakeStreet online, and I chose a baker, only to find out these are not "professional" bakers but HOME BAKERS! I didn't realize they employ home bakers until I asked my baker for the address. The NYC address they use for their business is NOT a real bakery! I thought these were professional bakers working out of a bakery. I found this part to be very misleading and only found out after I selected my baker and paid a deposit. My baker was 30 minutes from the city by car. I had made a deposit, and even though my intuition told me to back out, I decided to take a chance based on her reviews. I'm really curious if the reviews for the bakers are from real customers. Makes you wonder. You have to realize these cakes are being made in their homes! There are no sanitary rules that you know are being observed. My cake was placed in a cardboard box, and although it didn't really look like what I wanted, and the tassel, lettering, and diploma looked amateurish, what can a customer do after they paid for the cake and need it for a special occasion. Seriously, this is a great way to get ripped off! Once we got home and took the cake out of the box, it was falling apart, and the company had the nerve to tell us it was made properly! This cake was worth $100 maybe $150 but NOT almost $400. A cake that is baked properly will not fall apart after a 15 minute car ride! At the time that I picked up the cake, I told her I could hold it in my lap, but she said it wasn't necessary and placed the cake in the car. My Soma Cake that lasted an hour in the car to a different location never fell apart! The company had the nerve to offer me a $50 credit for a future cake that I would NEVER purchase! Why would I purchase another cake from a home baker? Poor customer service! They can enjoy my money! What a RIP-OFF! If a cake cannot make it in 15 minutes from pick-up to your location, there is something wrong with the cake! If you want to have a cake beautifully made, use Soma Cakes but don't get the red velvet. She is very talented. Her cake looked so realistic and we received a lot of compliments, but unfortunately it was bland, but it was a lot cheaper than what this company charged me, or you can just make your own cake. I'm sure it will be better than the disaster I received! Also, PLEASE do your research on this company. They have bad reviews on TrustPilot! If you want an okay cake, order from here. If you want a cake for a really special occasion, please go somewhere else. Find a place with an actual bakery and professional bakers. You will pay the same amount but get better results and not have to deal with their awful customer service!

Grand Central certainly has the ostentatious architecture to showcase a fine dining experience, especially in the spacious Vanderbilt Hall. Just before heading to the Morgan Library nearby, Jamie W and I thought this might be an appropriate place to have brunch. We were seated in a roomy booth in the cavernous, atmospheric main dining hall, though we discovered there was also a clubbier dining room in the back. Next time. Lke a Parisian brasserie, they offer a three-course Lunch Prix Fixe menu, this one for the fair price of $35. For the first course, Jamie ordered the Green Salad, a simple plate of butter lettuce arranged like a flower and accessorized with haricot verts, cherry tomatoes, and sliced radish (Photo 9). I went for the more substantial Beet Salad with sliced beets, quinoa, feta, and walnuts drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette (Photo 5). Good though a tad sweeter than I preferred. For our entree, we both ordered the same thing, the Chicken Paillard, a pan-seared chicken breast flattened to a uniform thickness. It was prepared with a light sauce of Nicoise olives and topped with a light salad of mixed greens and sliced almonds (Photo 7). Simple and a bit salty. Dessert was the third course, smallish amuse-bouche servings. Jamie had the quenelle-size Dark Chocolate Mousse with Whipped Cream (Photo 8), while I had the Roule aux Citron, a slice of Swiss roll cake filled with lemon curd mousse, and meringue (Photo 6). Light treats finished with a $5.50 Coffee (Photo 10). The bar in the back looked dazzling with multiple tiers of liquor bottles (Photo). Open until 2AM so a nocturnal return visit seems likely.
