I was looking for a Lady M alternative, and this was a good choice. Lady Wong is an Asian flavor inspired dessert shop that also introduces hard-to-find items in NYC, like Kuih or Pandan cakes. The shop is located in a food hall and is not large. If you are looking for something specific, I recommend coming early to secure your items. I ordered the Black Sesame Passion Fruit, Assorted Kuih, and a slice of the Orange Mille Crepe Cake. Nothing was too sweet, but incredibly rich and beautifully presented. The crepe cake was just as good as the renowned Lady M. The staff was patient and friendly. If you are looking to expand your palate, look no further.

All cakes were 10/10. I tried the mango stick rice, rose/lychee, and the strawberry guava. All were moist and not too sweet. Light, airy, moist-- the frosting is whipped cream like most Asian bakery cakes! Each cake is about $10-$12 about 3-4 bites each. On the pricier end for desserts but each one is a piece of art. Will definitely come again if I'm in midtown again. The Southeast Asian Food Mall it's located in was also intriguing. Will definitely plan to dine-in next visit.
4.3 stars! I love the range of unique and beautiful creations that Lady Wong offers. They really highlight and celebrate the variety of Asian flavors in an elevated way. I tried the pandan sticky rice which was delicious and not too sweet. Too bad we were too full already otherwise I would've wanted one of each! I came back and this time ordered the matcha pandan tart and chestnut mille crepe cake. Everything slaps, as always. You can't really go wrong here, but those two were both phenomenal - light, amazing texture, not overly sweet. The matcha pandan is very matcha-forward (so don't get it if you don't like matcha flavor / slightly matcha caffeinated flavor). The ratio of tart to crust is spectacular. The mille crepe cake is amazing especially if you've never had crepe cake. Loved the chestnuts on top, and the chestnut flavor was nutty and delightful. If you like things like pumpkin pie, you'll like this. Every time I come here my mood instantly becomes 5x better.
Not sure if it's because we came in a bit late (around 8pm), so that the shop didn't really have much left. It was a very small shop within a larger mall, with just one single small display-cabinet, so I suspect there might not be many options even if we came in earlier. We got what was left, which was a mango sticky rice cake. The sticky rice layer underneath did have a pleasant, subtle aroma, but the entire dessert was just too sweet. And the mango taste felt like too strong of an artifitual flavoring that I didn't quite enjoy. It's a bit dissapointing, as I've heard good things, but the result didn't quite match. Since it's late, and not many people were there at all (actually the only occupied table was me and my friend), it's relatively quiet. I guess it's alright to try it if you happened to be dining here at other shops in the food mall, but I probably won't come here again specifically for the dessert.
While visiting Urban Hawkers food hall I decided to bring some pastries from the famous Lady Wong home. So glad I did. I ordered from the plethora of choices. I got Ube blackberry outstanding! For my Wife I got the Lychee Rose Raspberry which she loved. Definitely coming back to try more of the high quality decadent desserts here.
The Brown Butter Carrot Cake is outstanding. Probably one of the best desserts I have had. Definitely worth checking out. The ambiance here is casual as they're located inside Urban Hawk. Service was friendly.
Staffs were friendly. Great dessert place. Got the pandan which was good, the label listed if there contain certain allergens such as sesame. There's plenty of space to eat within the food court. Bathrooms are on both the first level and the basement. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5
I've ordered shipped items for birthdays from Lady Wong's. So when I saw a physical location close to where I was staying I decidedI needed to stop in and grab something. I am huge fan of their shipped items and their in store items are just as delicious. Went with the individual strawberry guava éntremet. I was so excited you could actually taste the guava. It's one of my favorite flavors. Everything I have ever tried from them has been excellent. Highly recommend!
Visited Lady Wong for the first time and enjoyed their products. The eatery is located within the Urban Hawker Asian Food Hall and is always busy. I ordered the following: Viollete (Ube Earl Grey Mousse, Blackberry Jam, Salted Ube Caramel, Citrus Scented Cake) and the Pandan Panna Cotta (Salted Coconut Cream, Pandan Cream, Coconut Crumble, Coconut Sugar Syrup). I thoroughly enjoyed the different textures of the Ube and Panna Cotta was creamy, deliciously sweet, and the Coconut Sugar Syrup was a nice addition to the dessert. I'm glad that I found my NYC Ube go-to location and enjoy their sweets.
I absolutely love Lady Wong - you cannot go wrong with any of their desserts. I absolutely love their Pandan Serimuka (Pandan Custard Sticky Rice) and their mango coconut tart. It is easy to overindulge here and I 100% support you doing so! None of the flavors are overpowering and everything is so well-balanced. They no longer make their popular pistacho pandan cake, which is a bummer. Not only is the staff great, but their sweet treats are such high-quality. It is pricey, but well worth it.
I am a huge fan of pandan flavored desserts. Visually, beautiful and so delicious!!! Its bouncy and custard like. I enjoyed everything I tried. Will return whenever I'm in the area.

Lady Wong is located in Urban Hawker. Urban Hawker is an authentic Singapore street food center located in the heart of New York City and it is the first of its kind in the United States to feature stalls from the UNESCO hawker centers of Singapore. The vendors represent essential cuisines like Malay, Peranakan, Chinese, Indian, Southeast Asian, and Asian-style Western favorites. The first time I went to Urban Hawker was in December 2022, so I was very happy to be back again. I went to Lady Wong for some pastries. There are two display cases of beautiful Asian desserts. There were so many great choices and all the desserts look so pretty. I got the Mango Mousse Sticky Rice ($10.58), Pandan Panna Cotta Cup ($8.48), and Rose Kuih ($3.98). The Mango Mousse Sticky Rice tart was absolutely delightful and I savored every single bit. The crisp tart shell holds a layer of coconut sticky rice, topped with luscious whipped coconut cream and smooth mango mousse and finished with a sprinkle of toasted coconut for an added crunch. Each bite had a refreshing balance of creamy, fruity, and nutty flavors. The Pandan Panna Cotta Cup has a top layer of a silky layer of fragrant pandan panna cotta and the bottom has a light and creamy coconut mousse. A crunchy gula melaka (palm sugar) coconut crumble adds delightful texture, while a drizzle of rich gula melaka (palm sugar) syrup provides a sweet, caramel-like finish. The Rose Kuih is a beautiful layered dessert that offers the perfect balance of smooth, creamy, and is a fun-to-eat treat. Anything you order from Lady Wong is definitely amazing and you can't go wrong with anything. read more

One of the very few dessert spots in Urban Hawker--Lady Wong's pastries are always a feast for the eyes before the tastebuds. It's always a challenge picking a reasonable amount of pastries. Stopped by Lady Wong after visiting the Rockefeller Christmas tree and it turned out to be a perfect late night dessert spot. Going after the holidays definitely helped since the crowds were gone and there was plenty of seating. The location is inside a food court so the space itself is nothing fancy but that honestly did not matter once the desserts came out. We picked up a layered chestnut cake and a selection of their colorful pandan cakes. I went in not really knowing what pandan even was but the presentation alone made them hard to resist. I believe I had the coconut rose along with another flavor I cannot remember but if you like coconut forward desserts these are outstanding. Light fragrant and not overly sweet. The layered chestnut cake was equally impressive with great texture and a rich but balanced flavor. Everything tasted carefully made and refined. Even though it was late at night the experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. The setting may be simple but the desserts easily steal the show. Definitely worth a stop if you are nearby and want something unique and memorable. read more

So happy this was located in the Urban Hawker food hall - it was the perfect touch for dessert among all the savory food choices. There was a lovely selection to choose from and I felt my inner fatkid came out and pressed her face against the glass mesmerized by the colors and shapes of the pastries. I definitely wanted to taste more than one, but had to exercise self control so I went with the strawberry guava and it did not disappoint! The gentleman working the counter was friendly and seemed to have gotten a kick out of my indecision and look of awe. We met at Urban Hawker before going to our show. Urban Hawker is a fun asian food court and a great place to meet up before shows. Lady Wong was one of the booths at the food court. After dinner at Prawnaholics, we bought a couple of dishes from Lady Wong. We chose the Ube Blackberry and the Black Sesame, which was recommended by the server. Both were delicious, not too sweet but light and creamy. They were a little pricy and about $10 each but it was a special night and definitely worth it. While the main dishes at the food court aren't much to look at (albeit tasty), here it's all about presentation. With so many great desserts, it's almost obligatory to end your visit with something sweet. Personally, I was a fan of the more fruit forward desserts. Strawberry Guava: A perfect combination of fruit and cream. It's nice mix of local (strawberry) and exotic (guava). Looks great too. Mango Sticky Rice Tart: Definitely appreciate the tart floral mango flavors. Didn't notice the sticky rice too much. Seemed more like a typical mousse cake. Matcha Pandan Tart: Matcha and pandan actually go very nicely together and with the cream. Also, the hard butter tart crust was a good choice. Quite unique. read more

Back here to report that Lady Wong's cakes are as delicious as their kuihs. Another delicious food stop in Midtown - we ordered the black sesame passionfruit entremet cake, which was very good and I understand why it's won praise. I was sad they didn't have the pandan royaltine cake because that sounds exactly like my flavor palate so please bring that back for my next birthday (circa Labor Day 2026 if you are reading this, Lady Wong). My friends love to get cakes here and it's no surprise why. Bring a Lady Wong cake to any birthday celebration and you will be beloved. read more

If Urban Hawker was a musical, then Lady Wong would play a main lead. She's one character that I'm glad I can see often, get to know more closely, and admire her captivating singing voice. Last week I picked up a mango coconut tapioca rice pudding $8.98, a piece of each of these kuihs: 1) talam jawa $2.98 palm sugar and pandan flavored, 2) baked pandan kuih topped with sesame $3.98, 3) cassava $1.98 the simplest yet prob my top two favorite in terms of flavor. As I've mentioned before, their selection of kuih is terrific, with authentic flavors and well-balanced level of sweetness (ie not too sweet) and a bouncy/jiggly consistency. The mangos in the rice pudding were less ripe than ideal though I wasn't mad about it considering it's the middle of winter right now. There's an added layer of mango compote beneath the chopped fresh fruit to add a boost of mango flavor. The rice pudding was cool, creamy and delicious. Yummmm. read more

Our dessert came quickly (it was premade) and while the staff was rather nonchalant, it didn't deter from the experience. Ordered the Pandan matcha tart. It was simple and mild in flavor, slightly sweet. Loved the texture. Overall, while I don't think it's quite worth the price, it was a nice treat. read more

This is a MUST when at UH. I usually get something to go. Being able to get kuih in the heart of Midtown Manhattan makes this Malaysian girl very happy. All their desserts look amazing, but it's def the kuih for me. I usually get a few different ones. The cassava has been my fave since I was little so I never skip that. Then it's all up to what I'm feeling that day. I like the rose one a lot too. I've tried their angku, couple of cakes and those were just OK for me. Not sure if they still do but they sold sardine puffs which were phenomenal. Workers are very nice. Be sure you pick something up when you're at UH! read more

Tucked away in the Urban Hawker food court, we arrived at this small booth after finding our other dessert options full on Thanksgiving weekend. They were out of a lot of the more popular options as it was pretty late in the evening. I've had kuih before but never tried Lady Wong, so we asked the cashier for recommendations, but the cashier seemed reluctant to give any. So we grabbed whatever looked pretty good and sat down in a quiet corner of the food hall. The ube mousse dome pastry looked so pristine and beautiful with its lush purple color and the gold fleck on the top. Unfortunately, though it was ube flavored, I didn't think it offered anything special than any other mousse French desserts that the city has to offer. It was that artificial ube flavor and not that interesting. The kuih is what Lady Wong is actually good for. The rosewater flavor was my favorite, though I do find the floral flavor is a little too much for some. The pandan one was nice and chewy, sweet but not too sweet, the most profound indicator of what makes a good Asian dessert. I'd love to come back again earlier in the day when there are more signature options available. read more

best spot in nyc for pandan desserts! this spot just happened to be a stand inside an urban hawker in midtown but they also have a location in the east village area I also always go to! their desserts sell fast throughout the day so stop by early. I came here for one thing - kuih! After years of searching in LA, I was thrilled to finally find it in New York. The flavor and texture were absolutely PERFECT - just like the kuih I remember. Solid 4 star for Lady Wong. Located in the Urban Hawker food court in midtown, there's a wide array of stalls with different Singaporean foods. I'm Vietnamese so naturally I enjoy Southeastern flavors such as pandan and ube. I was really excited to try all the kuih here and got one of each flavor. I give the kuih a 3/5 as I wish the textures were chewier - they were softer than what I'm used to and what I prefer. Their other goods such as pastries, however, I really enjoyed as they weren't too sweet and featured flavors such as black sesame and calamansi. read more

Lady Wong is my go-to for high quality and high-end Southeast Asian dessert stall in NYC, particularly in midtown whenever I'm by Times Square or Rockefeller Center. This location is inside Urban Hawker, close by the N/R/W train. The stall is nearby the entrance of the food hall. Most of the pastries seem to be inspired by Malaysian/Indo/Singaporean flavors with a sprinkle of Filipino, Viet, and Thai in my opinion. The taste of the desserts I've tried were all lovely, delicate and are worth the price tag. I really think they hit the pandan flavor but the ube doesn't taste authentic Filipino Ube. Whenever it's available, I order a hot curry puff. It definitely reminds me of a potato filled Filipino empanada but Malay style. Accepts cash, card and Applepay. This is a great Southeast Asian bakery inside Urban Hawker, a Singaporean-inspired food court. It has all the essential Asian dessert flavors like guava, black sesame, ube, and pandan. I got the black sesame and passionfruit mousse cake and the pandan cream cake. Both were pretty good, although both a bit dry (1 star off). The pandan flavor was subtle, and I wished for more of it. Since the bakery is located inside a food court, you have your selection of seating. You can also easily take your desserts to go.
