The I come by this spot anytime I'm in Chinatown, which is quite a lot. I am a fan of their mochi munchkins and creampuffs. The kiosk to order the food on is very fast and there's usually not a long line. I like the fact that Alimama is also on Ubereats, so that it's easier to order for delivery and/or pickup. The royal milk tea is another one of my favorites. It's not overly sweet but is still somewhat rich in flavor. They have unique edible gold flakes and flowers on top of their drinks. Overall, this spot is very affordable and feeds every sweet tooth. I think that the venue is quite small, but the vibes are very homey.
Alimama Tea and Dessert shop is my new favorite stop by chinatown! I ordered the white peach sencha iced tea $6.25, it was beautiful with rosebud tips and gold leaf on top- it also was delicious! The perfect level of sweetness- not too sweet just right. The pastries all look divine, I will certainly be back to try the mochi donuts and cream puffs. There were really cute stickers all over and the cashier even gave me a few free donut stickers!!! There are 5 stools and a counter, nice place to sit and enjoy your treat :)

I've never had a bad experience here and I'm always happy to visit because I know my heart and tummy will be satisfied! I saw their mini cream puff deal - 6 for $6 and had to get it. It was a Hokkaido cream and it wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. The pastry itself was the perfect bite. It was crispy and flaky and soft all at the same time. These are so addicting and easy to eat. I hope they have this permanently because i would definitely get these again!

I would recommend the royal milk tea with mini boba and lychee rose for drinks. Their mochi munchkins, especially the taro flavor, are excellent. A new item on their menu is their bite-size cream puffs with Hokkaido cream are the best - highly recommended! I have been going to this place for years, and their drinks/dessert never disappoint. Service: Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: The shop is small with only about 4-5 seats along the wall. Decor is beautiful and modern but probably better to take out your drinks and food to go. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this place!
Absolutely delicious! Ordered mochi donuts for a work event and everyone enjoyed the flavors (and how beautiful the donuts themselves were presented). The cream puffs are massive so you'd probably be better ordering a smaller quantity!
Hokkaido milk cream puff for only $1, and black sesame mochi donut that tastes like 芝麻糊 (black sesame paste)... this tiny store in Chinatown has totally won me over. I've tasted a lot of cream puffs around NYC, but Alimama Tea wins for their perfect choux and flavor lineup. Their cream puffs were huge irl, and the custard-to-choux pastry ratio was done right. ＊Cream Puff $4.50 - 5.50 I couldn't stop munching on the yuzu one, so tart and refreshing with a yuzu curd filling. The boba flavor was not too sweet and packed with mini boba. Matcha was the winner (as always). ＊Mochi Donut $4.50 - 5.50 The roasted black sesame glaze was rich, nutty, and pleasantly grainy. It reminded me of chinese black sesame paste dessert which I loved. What surprised me most was the strawberry flavor. It didn't taste artificial at all, unlike the ones I've had at other donut spots. The brulee donut was coated in a caramelized sugar glaze that left a gold shimmer on my lips. Their mochi donuts had a dense yet chewy texture. ＊Hokkaido Custard Mini Cream Puff $1 each (min. 6 pcs) Despite their small size, they didn't skimp on the filling! Each one was packed with luscious, creamy custard made from Hokkaido milk, all wrapped in a crispy shell. ＊Lychee Rose $7 While I had higher expectations for their sweets, this lychee rose drink actually blew me away! I didn't even ask for less sugar, but the sweetness level was just right. It was made with lychee purée, coconut water, rose, and topped with real lychee. The boba scene is competitive in Chinatown, but I'd come back just for this drink.
I love their cream puffs! I always get the Milk Tea cream puffs :) I tried their limited edition Rose Reserve Milk Tea with mini boba and it was so good!! My boyfriend always gets the matcha cream puffs, and we decided to try their hokkaido one as well! He also got a turmeric ginger honey tea. Everything was delicious. Inside there are three kiosks for you to order from, and one kiosk outside the entrance! Service was kind, they wrote sweet little messages on our drinks which was so thoughtful! 10/10! Always recommend. :)

If you are like me who is not a fan of donuts AND doesn't know what munchkins - do not get them lol they are donut holes. Totally my mistake not reading the reviews and assuming these would be just taro flavored stretchy mochi balls covered in shredded coconut lol. I don't like fried food so these taro mochi donut holes/munchkins were just alright in my opinion - honestly I wouldn't be able to tell apart between taro or any other flavor because it tasted like regular donut holes dumped in granulated sugar. But hey, judging by other reviews these must be great if you like donuts. read more

The restaurant was quick and efficient ; however, they lost one star because the presentation of the drink and donut was not presented as other reviews. This does not take away from the quality though. I loved the strawberry donut but wasn't a big fan of the black sesame donut (I wanted to try something new). The boba was delicious and I loved the mini boba. The restaurant was small but clean and the staff was helpful in explaining the non-dairy options. I used the kiosks to place my order. Ranked high with a lot of ratings, so decided to try while in Chinatown. Various screens to order. Quick turnaround. Tiny inside with only a few high top chairs, meant to take on the go. This isn't the typical boba you see, also offer unique flavors, herbals, really cool to try. Also offer tons of donut options. Since we're later in the day, there were less of those to try- so would say to go earlier. Rose tea with mini boba, half sweet. Very good- great balance of flavors. Still a little sweet for me, but my daughter loved and drank. Peach puree and tea, good but less sweet naturally. Trick is to mix it which we found out later- just for a light sweetness. My daughter didn't love, so I swapped with her and took this and enjoyed- it was refreshing. Kids also tried the matcha donut balls. They were good, made fresh and hot. read more
I was walking around the Financial District on a hot day around lunchtime and decided to head over to Chinatown. I wasn't really hungry, but I was craving something fresh and cold. I love boba, so I searched for nearby tea spots and found this place--it had good reviews and was just around the corner. I ordered a classic jasmine tea with boba, no sugar--just the way I like it. The presentation was really nice, and the boba had a good texture. However, the tea itself was a bit more bitter than I expected. I usually get zero sweetness, and it's just a light, refreshing jasmine flavor, but this one tasted slightly over-brewed. That was the only downside for me. If I lived in the area, I'd probably come back once in a while for the boba. But honestly, what really caught my attention were their donuts and food items--I don't remember the exact names, but they looked amazing, especially the one with boba inside. I absolutely loved this place! The drinks were not only beautiful but also incredibly delicious. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients because every sip was fresh, smooth, and full of flavor. I tried one of their specialty drinks, and it was perfectly balanced,not too sweet and so refreshing. The staff was friendly, and my order was made quickly. If you're in Chinatown and looking for a great milk tea or unique specialty drink, I highly recommend stopping by. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu! read more
AlimamaTea was SOOO good. I came years ago and forgot to review, but look at the drink I got! So pretty and it tasted even better. I love that they have mini pearls because sometimes I find the regular tapioca pearls to be too much. The milk tea was really strong and creamy, and the drink overall was really well balanced. I've ordered from Alimama for delivery several times, and have gotten the mochi donuts, cream puffs, and various drinks. Sometimes I get lucky and the mochi donuts are still warm, with a lightness and chewiness that is so satisfying. If you let the donuts cool off, they're denser but still delicious. I've tried all the donut flavors and there hasn't been one that I don't like. This time around, I got the onyx (which has a rich caramel dark chocolate frosting on the donut) and the yuzu detox lemonade (comes with yuzu purée with butterfly pea flower) The donut was sooo good. The lemonade had a beautiful presentation and was not sweet at all, but next time I think I'll stick to one of the milk tea drinks I usually get from there. I haven't had an occasion to visit them in person but my friend swears by their munchkins which are best eaten hot as they are made to order. I'll have to visit to give it a try. read more

One of the best tea experiences ever. I'm bookmarking this spot as a reminder to keep coming back. The teas are exquisite. They are just absolutely beautiful and taste as good as they look. I got the Earl Grey iced tea. It was floral but not overpowering. I also tried the milk tea boba cream puff. This was literal heaven. Crisp and flaky on the outside but the inside was so airy and soft. The cream was down right delicious. Ordering is easy and can be done inside or in a tablet outside. A small spot with a lot of character, this is the perfect place for a pit stop. I can't wait to try their mochi donuts and other drinks. read more
I haven't been here in years, and the matcha donut was still so good with the chewy texture and the crunchy toasted rice cracker contrasting it. My niece and I also decided to try their passion fruit green tea though since the drinks looked so cute, and my sister got the yuzu detox lemonade. My sister liked her drink, but my niece and I didn't like our drinks. It was artificial in taste and sweetness, and unfortunately the look of the drink (even after mixing first) didn't match the taste for us. I would still recommend the matcha donuts though. read more

Normally don't like mochi donuts but Alimama won me over with their Mochi Munchkins. The outside is nice and crispy and the inside has a nice airiness so that it's not overly chewy. Still need to try the drinks, but recommend grabbing some of the Munchkins if you ever stop by! read more
Great tasting milk tea and cream puffs in Chinatown! Definitely worth a visit! The Royal Milk Tea with Boba was great, I got it with 50% sugar and it was still sweet enough for me. It also has the mini boba which taste so good. The cream puffs were also good, I got the match and milk tea ones. Service was quick and the people were friendly. A staple in my friend group when we want something sweet! In the beginning we'd usually go for the cream puffs but as we got older, the mochi donuts just hit different! We love the mochi donuts and all the assortment of flavors that they offer. This time we got the strawberry, brûlée and the cereal mochi donuts. Off the 3, the brûlée was our fave. Even better than those though were the mochi donut munchkins. We got the chocolate and the taro ones and even though I absolutely love chocolate, the taro one took the prize and was so worth the wait that it took them to make fresh on the spot. Yummy, chewy, and flavorful goodness. What more could you ask for? Have been coming here for years and will be coming back for many more! read more

This place came highly recommended by my bestie. Ordered a box of 6 different flavored cream puffs and Lychee Rose to go (this place is meant for takeouts since I didn't see tables/chairs). Love the aesthetics and staff was friendly. I used their kiosk to order and got my stuff within minutes. It took us a while to finish the box (have to control that calories - I've made cream puffs at home and I have an idea of how much sugar it can contain!). Our fave was the matcha and coffee creams. The flavors were definitely there. The rest of the flavors was just meh. I had to lookup the menu online because I thought they gave us duplicates! 3 of the puffs had boba and aside from the coffee flavor that had bona, the other 2 tasted the same. Next time, I'll just order a box of matcha and coffee. Wish they have coffee WITHOUT the boba because I'm not really a fan of tapioca. As for the drink, I have to admit that I ordered it purely dor aesthetics. The deep purple color, dried rose, and a floating lychee fruit looked dreamy... Until you take a sip and reality wakes you up and realize it doesn't hold much flavor. Maybe I should've tried the passion fruit green tea like my bestie suggested and have better luck with the drinks. I don't mind trying out their other menu items but only when I'm in the area. Its not something that I would specifically travel to just to have. read more

It’s best to eat our mochi items the day of, as fresh as possible. We do no recommend eating them 2 days later due to the change in the texture of the mochi, it won’t be the same. Thank you!
Why are the munchkins not on the yelp order menu?
Hi Mae, the munchkins are best eaten hot and fresh because they are made to order. For us at alimama we care about the freshness and quality of our products, we feel that if it was cold when the customer gets their delivery order it will not be up…

Yes, all munchkins and donuts except the cereal donut are gluten free :) they should be marked on the menu too
Do they use real milk for the milk tea drinks or non-dairy powder?
You have the option of using almond milk or coconut milk (or whole dairy milk).
Is this a cafe with lots of seating where you can stay for long or more of a grab-and-go?
There's not a tonnn of seating--maybe more like around 10 seats max, but definitely enough time for you to sit and eat your dessert! I've sat there for around 30-45 minutes before.
Do you have any dairy free options?
Yes, we have our vegan Taro & Matcha Mochi Munckins.
How long do the donuts stay fresh? Are they still good after a day?
Yes! They are still good after a day.
Are the donuts nut-free?
Our sweet & savory glaze does have Nutella in it, which is the only donut that we use nuts in. All the other donuts are all nut-free.
