Green Curry, Vegetable Egg Rolls, Basil and Chili Eggplant with tofu.
Karen L.

A good option for Thai food if you're in the Pasadena area. We really liked the spaciousness of restaurant. It has a very open feel with the exposed ceiling. We ordered the Pad Thai, eggplant with tofu, green curry, and sizzling beef for our main coarse. Everything was pretty good. The Pad Thai seasoning was light, not overly sweet like other Thai restaurants. The beef however on the sizzling beef dish was a little on the tough side. We ordered the fried banana dish for our desert. This was our least favorite dish. It was cold on the inside and the banana had turned brown so it was not very appetizing to look at once you cut into it. Would probably not order this again. Overall a nice experience. The staff were very nice and attentive and the restaurant was not crowded at all for lunch on a Saturday afternoon.

Pad Thai

This place has gone downhill. Our pad Thai looked like dried out hash browns. Our green curry has zero flavor. The best thing was the fried wontons , that's says a lot. Unfortunately I will never come back. Very sad.

seafood green curry was delicious

The restaurant still looks as good as when they first opened in the 80's. The food however is not as good. The yum woon sen looked more like a noodle dish with disproportionate amount of noodles to veggie and protein portion. The pad kee mao had so much beef & not enough noodles. The seafood green curry is good. The stuffed chicken wings were alright. The male server was nice, but I think the female server needs some training. I asked for a serving fork, when it never came, I asked a second time... and she responded... yeah, yeah, yeah! Could have answered in a nicer way.

Haven't been to Saladang in a while but agree with everyone's recent comments. Have been going to Saladang since the 90's and sadly it's not the same. The sizzling beef was tough, the pad thai lacked flavor, the calamari was overly battered (used to be so light and crunchy). Portions are smaller and prices have jumped. What caught us by surprise was the mandated 20% tip on top of the total including 10.5% tax because we were a table of 6. There were no signs or notices anywhere and the server just added the tip to the check without giving a heads up. Ordinarily I understand automatic service charges but the service was not outstanding and it would have been a nice courtesy to inform customers.

Satay chicken Pad See Ew Pad Thai Lemongrass Soup (tom Yum)

Pretty decent not too shabby Thai spot when you are craving for some. I had Pad See ew, pad Thai, chicken Satay , and Tom Yum soup for takeout. Everything is a solid 7/10. My order was ready in 13 mins which was amazingly fast. Workers are nice and polite. Plenty of parking in the lot which is rare for Pasadena area.

Green curry with mixed vegetables

Eating here is like going to Thailand heaven where you can have fast service and delicious food. The thing about fast service is they don't have time to overcook the vegetables. Everything we had for dinner tasted so fresh. The salad rolls are served with a peanut sauce and with a stirred mix of honey mustard. We love getting green curry with mixed vegetables and surely this dish was superb. The other dish we tried was the Pad Woon Sen with tofu. The mung bean noodles were a big hit, so delicate. Parking is easy and free in their own lot next to the restaurant.

Came to Saladang's for a small goodbye dinner for a family member and was given excellent service! Our party was quite large and they accommodated all of us with no complaints. The atmosphere was very pleasant, every party seemed to be caught up in their own conversations. The waiters periodically checked on us which was amazing since we had a lot of people. The only thing that was dissatisfying was the cleanliness of the restroom. The food was amazing! Our party got chicken curry, pad thai, wontons, bbq beef, and fried rice! We also tried the Thai Tea which was phenomenal. Lastly we ended our meal with the fried bananas which also had coconut flakes on it. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you want great quality Thai cuisine!!

Its been awhile and came here for lunch with a friend. Food was okay, very over priced the best is the eggplant salad. Had better authentic thai food at other places. This place been here a long time and have lost its touch. Waitress need to not do stuff on table next to you

Fried Calamari
Danny Y.

Had lunch here today with a friend. We have not eaten here in over 12 years. Only two other tables with diner's at 12:00 lunch time. Waitress gave us the regular menu. No lunch special menu or the drink menu. I had to get them myself from a small table. The men's room needs better maintenance. Ordered the Fried calamari, Green Curry with Pork, Chicken Sate. Cat fish fillet and a Coconut Shrimp soup. The Calamari was too chewy. We returned it. We ordered the Chicken Sate. It was good. TheGreen Curry I ordered it Mild. The Pork was very tough, like shoe leather. I could not eat much of it. I ate the Eggplant and vegetables with the brown rice. The food quality has really gone through some changes, but not for the better. Ambiance and Service was subpar. The waitress was not very friendly. Parking: Shared parking lot. There are better options and a better value in the greater San Gabriel Valley. We spent $85.00 with Tip included for this experience today. Overall Rating: 2 Stars

Spicy basil chili with pork belly

I'd give it 5 stars if they addressed some issues in the ladies room and dining room setup, but was very happy with the chicken pad Thai (they were very generous with the chicken) and spicy basil chili pork belly. I would definitely return!

My husband usually doesn't eat soup, but he loved it and kept commenting on how flavorful it was. The fried rice was also excellent, and the lunch special was a great value for the price. The quality of the meat was excellent, and every dish was packed with flavor. The service was calm, friendly, and attentive. I was actually surprised by how quiet it was because the food deserves a much bigger crowd. What really blew me away was the portion size for the price. The servings were huge and such a great value. We had enough food to easily feed 5-6 people, and the bill was still incredibly reasonable. I'll definitely be coming back!

From the street, the curb appeal doesn't exactly grab your attention since the restaurant sits sideways to the road. But once you pull in and walk inside, it's a pleasant surprise! Nice atmosphere, spacious dining room, and a welcoming feel. We arrived early and were greeted by a very friendly woman who made us feel right at home. She was gracious, attentive, and never made us feel rushed. We started with the stuffed chicken wings appetizer, which came with two pieces. They had a nice crispiness and were pretty good, although I would have liked a little more punch in the seasoning. I tend to enjoy Thai food with some bold spice, and these were a bit on the mild side compared to others I've had. My son and I shared the President's BBQ Beef, which was excellent! Very tender, flavorful, and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. We also ordered the President's Pineapple Fried Rice, another winner. Great flavor, a nice combination of ingredients, and shrimp mixed in to round it out. My wife ordered a flat noodle dish with chicken and broccoli, which I believe was Pad See Ew. She enjoyed it as well. We beat the dinner crowd, which was nice, but as the restaurant filled up, service became a little harder to come by. We had to wave someone down a few times just to get our check. Nothing terrible, but it did take a little shine off an otherwise enjoyable experience. Overall, President Thai earns a solid four stars from me. It didn't blow me away or knock my favorite Thai restaurants off their pedestal, but the food was very good, the atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was genuinely friendly. If you're traveling along rhe freeway and want a good Thai meal before dealing with the craziness of downtown Pasadena, this is a worthwhile stop. Good food, pleasant surroundings, and a satisfying experience. Sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for!

We were surprised to discover that Tuesdays are a plant-based/vegetarian night. I had no idea! On the positive side, there was no line on this evening, the portions were generous, and the Thai Iced Tea was good. However, the execution of the food fell flat. I ordered the yellow curry; while it had a decent spice kick, the overall flavor profile was muted. In my opinion, Kwan Thai Kitchen offers far more flavor and a better bang for your buck. Please keep in mind there is no actual table service. I know my perspective might differ from other locals and some of my friends, but with so many great Thai options nearby, the food here was a big miss for me. The pride of family recipes is evident throughout your meal. This is a Thai restaurant with updated takes on classic Thai / Asian cuisine. They are proud that they have been able to maintain quality for almost 19 years. I stopped on a Sunday afternoon. I was greeted by a friendly hello/how can I help you as I walked toward the counter. I indicated I needed some help with the menu as I had some questions about some of the dishes I used to order. The staff member, Mary, indicated that while they add new dishes a lot of their favorites have stayed on the menu. She suggested I order from their special lunch menu as it would be a savings as well as a chance to try some of their new flavors / spices. I wanted to try a number of things that would make approximately two meals. I let her know that I wanted her to make the choices for me and she accommodated my request by making suggestions after asking a number of precise questions as to the spice level and variety I was looking for. I let her know that I like spicy food and eat everything. Pad See Ew with beef, Summer Rolls, Chicken Gyoza were my first selections. I decided to add a Ramen Soup as well. While I waited for my order to be cooked, I was able to enjoy the cute atmosphere in the dining room. They also have a few tables outside the entrance for those that like the fresh air. At one point the chef came out and asked about what cooking technique and spice/heat I might prefer. That was a nice touch. I do like my vegetables with a little bit of a bite and my meat medium rare. After about a short wait my food was ready for me to pick up at the counter. Everything was packed carefully and I was asked if spices and utensils were needed. I indicated that the spices and chopsticks were perfect. When I got home I was pleased that the smells that I had sampled in their kitchen were still emanating as I unpacked the various parts of my meal. There was definitely more than enough for two meals. The Summer Rolls were fresh and full of flavor. All the vegetables, carrots, basil, cucumber, and Cilantro we're fresh from the garden. Their peanut dipping sauce was a perfect addition. The Chicken Gyoza had a nice chew and great flavor with the dipping sauce. I mixed some of the soy vinaigrette with the sweet black dipping sauce. I enjoyed the combination. The Pad See Ew with beef was perfectly cooked. The thinly sliced beef still had great flavor and chew. The Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly along with the scrambled eggs and garlic. Flavors worked well together in the special dipping sauce provided. I love that they make their own sauces from scratch. The b&w Ramen/barbecued pork and pork chicken wontons we're a perfect match. Plenty of food with great flavor and spice. The liquid part had great flavor and a nice mix of complex spices. This is something that is not cooked quickly. All of the vegetables and meats had great flavor and you could tell they were all fresh and cooked perfectly. I did add some extra spice that was given to me in packets as I left. I also added a touch of soy sauce. They were careful to make sure that my experience was one that I would enjoy at Daisy Mont. I found out that Ben had worked on my preparation in the kitchen and Mary had graciously taken care of me at the counter. What excellent service. This is a great location but parking can sometimes be challenging. They have spaces along Colorado Boulevard that are usually available depending upon the time of day. There is also some parking around the corner in a parking lot. Be aware check the signs to see whether there is a charge. Very clean and well decorated space. Nice AC on a hot summer day. Do note, the window seat is a little weird because you can't lean back (No back rest). I wanted something light so I got a small Tom Kha Chicken Soup and a Thai tea, which I asked to be less sweet and they obliged. The soup was very sour, which I didn't expect since it didn't say that in the menu description. I knew Tom Yum is sweet and sour but didn't expect that from a curry soup. Also, 1/3 of the soup were the spices (that you don't eat) so it felt really small of a portion after I removed those pieces. My friend gave me some of their extra rice and it was still too sour. The Thai iced tea was a little bland, probably since I asked for it to be less sweet, so I don't recommend doing that. I think less sweet also meant less milk so it wasn't very creamy. Still refreshing though. In my photo, you can see the color difference between my less sweet thai iced tea and my friend's normal one. Mine was kind of brown. His was the normal bright orange. I also tried my partner's pad Thai and normally I don't like pad Thai because it's too sweet, but this one was on the less sweet side so it was quite decent. I tried my partner's Thai Iced Coffee, which we ordered out of curiosity. She said it's basically normal coffee but more sweet. To my surprised, it was not sweet at all, like zero sugar. It tasted like a more burnt americano with a splash of milk. We were not fans. We parked about 1/2 mile away because street parking is free and we don't mind walking. Parking structure is available nearby too, for only $1 for the first 2 hours. Bathrooms are shared among three restaurants, but they are very clean.
