Incredible food and service! I had their pumpkin curry, very good... unlike many Thai restaurants this one has a heat scale from 1 to 5 and I ordered a 5. Now I like my curry spicy but a 5 might have been too much. Try the green tea ice cream, its delicious. I will return to this gem. read more

Best Thai food in the valley. The service is unbelievable. A little tip - if you ask for more shrimp, they will give you more, a little extra cost, but well worth the price. I went here for dinner with my parents and had a wonderful experience. We brought our own bottle of wine, which was cool, and we shared the chicken lettuce wraps, which were awesome and came with three good sauces. It was a notably large portion for an appetizer and could easily be shared by 3-4 people. For dinner, I ordered the green curry with chicken and brown rice, on a 4 (out of 5) spice level. It was very spicy, as I was hoping for, and I admire anyone with the courage to order the 5. Everything was cooked nicely, all of the right flavors were there, and it was amongst the best green curries I've ever tried. I was able to snag a bite of the duck curry (which was in an orange-colored sauce which included pineapple [yummmm]) and a seafood special, which contained shrimp, scallops, catfish and a variety of vegetables. All three entrees were delicious and exceeded my expectations! As far as service went, the waiters were very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very nice and, overall, it was a five star experience for a reasonably priced Thai restaurant. I definitely recommend swinging by if you're craving a mean green curry! read more

When they first opened I felt it was a good value. The food was good, portions were reasonable, price was what I expected. My last couple trips have been less than good. The prices have gone up a lot which I could live with if I got the same quality and quantity of food. I was really disappointed when my last two take home trips yielded about half the meat as before. I thought it was just human error the first time, but both of my last trips to Sala yielded the same quantity of food. I'm bummed because I used to really like the place. No more for me:( read more

Consistently good although sometimes a little slow when they are busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Weeknights and lunch are better. We like the yellow curry, chicken satay and Thai Iced Tea. The noodle dishes are good too. When we go out for Thai, we prefer Sala Thai over any other Thai food we've tried in Phoenix. read more

this place is good, authentic food. the menu has some chinese dishes, so avoid those, but the thai food is good. they also have a good desert, mango sticky rice. and try the coconut smoothie with tapioca. that's good also. read more

This is the first time trying this place and I have to say.... Great food! This definitely a due over for the family. The Pad Thai has great flavor I would recommended this dish to everyone. Let me start out by saying Thai places are not created equally. This has set the bar to a whole new level. I am giving it 4 stars. The 2 of us went to Sala Thai last night and expected so much better based on these reviews on yelp. We looked at the menu on line and knew the prices were high and thought they must be good at those prices. Ok the Thai Tea will get a high rating for sure. The place was busy. The booth seating was comfortable and the fish tank with the plastic fish was interesting. The hangings on the walls were pretty. But the reason we were here was to try a different Thai Restaurant. Once we ordered our food it came out too fast. It must have already been cooked. The Beef Panang had no flavor and the sauce was too thin. The beef in it was tough and had stringy bits as well. The toughness made me think microwave. But I have no fact about that. The broccoli floating in the Panang sauce tasted good. The Pad Thai seemed to be a glued tangled mess of various size noodles. It was loaded with fried egg. No flavor. The Stuffed angel wings were huge and not sure what the stuffing was as we couldn't identify it. A bit of a freezer taste. Hot on outside but not warm in the middle. The cover up flavor came from the sweet chili sauce we poured over it. We had to ask for more sauce. No one ever came to see how our food was until the end when they brought the check. Yet we were still eating or trying to when they brought the check. We left so much food on our plates and paid $37.00 and left. We have been eating Thai Food for over 25 years in the Valley and do have our favorite places. However , living North of the main city, there are not a lot of Thai Restaurants to choose from. We have to make a 35 minute drive to get to one. We will not return to Sala. We will not go back there. read more

I have driven by this unassuming place many times and always wondered how the food was. My daughter and I had lunch here today and shared an order of crab wontons, cashew chicken, beef ribs and beef with yellow curry. Everything was really good and there was plenty left over to take home. We got the spiciest option for the curry and it was delicious. We will definitely go back and try some other things next time. Ordered vegetarian pad thai to go. Serving size is good. Lots of vegetables, which I love, and you dont always find at other places. But the sauce is terrible. It's not traditional pad thai like I get pretty much everywhere else. I eat a lot of asian food, and lately, a lot of thai. Been to about 5 different places in the past week alone, and this pad thai dish was absolutely the worst. Maybe their other food is better, but steer clear of the vegetarian pad thai. read more

I'm a fan. I've traveled to Thailand and the staff is generally helpful in making recipes less authentic. I keep forgetting NOT to order vegetarian pad thai. Broccoli doesn't belong in that dish! Other things are great. My favorites are larb, fish cakes, and pumpkin curry. My mother most loved duck red curry. Everything is accurate level of spiciness. I have been coming here since 2007. This place has received so much business that they expanded within the last year by purchasing the open space next door. Their food is hot, fresh, and clean. Their service is top notch and they really care about the customer. I HIGHLY recommend their establishment. read more

I like the food a lot and have been going there for awhile. But I've noticed they fill the take out containers less now. And they also have begun charging a whopping three dollars extra for brown rice and force you take the white that comes with it. I guess times are tough. read more

I thought I'd enjoy Sala Thai as it was featured on Check Please! (an Arizona PBS program). Unfortunately, my dining experience was a poor one - in fact, I'd describe Sala Thai as my worst Thai dining experience, period, be it fast food or tablecloth dining. To begin with, I and my dining partner were seated adjacent to a very loud television blaring the evening news (not my idea of a pleasant dining atmosphere). As there were only two other diners on our side of the restaurant, neither of which were paying attention to the television, as soon as I noticed the remote control for the TV I promptly turned the sound off. My order included a Thai iced tea, vegetable Spring Rolls, and vegetarian Pad Thai. The iced tea arrived first. To be fair, Thai iced tea can vary a great deal from restaurant to restaurant; some restaurants use coconut milk in their Thai iced tea (which makes for a far tastier iced tea, in my opinion), and others use milk, cream, half and half, or a combination thereof. The tea served at Sala Thai was made with dairy, and looked and tasted as though there was very little tea, and far too much dairy. To make matters worse, the tea was so overpoweringly sweet it was nauseating and I couldn't drink more than a quarter of the glass. Next, the vegetable Spring Rolls arrived. I assume they were not freshly made as they were stuck together so tightly they couldn't be separated with chopsticks - I had to pry them apart with my hands. The filling tasted okay (fresh), but the dipping sauces were overpoweringly sweet. Within a minute or so after being served the Spring Rolls, my Pad Thai entrée arrived. I was expecting a plate/bowl of fresh, loose noodles with a savory Pad Thai sauce and ample vegetables. What was served were spaghetti-style rice noodles that obviously had been sitting around for some time. The noodles had been tossed/mixed with a sickening sweet sauce; there was no savory sensation to the taste at all. Though warm, they were overcooked/chewey, and stuck together so tightly in a single mass they could not easily be separated with chopsticks. I had to wrestle with them to eat them. The sauce the noodles were mixed with was so sweet and overpowering I couldn't taste the noodles; I had to pour soy sauce on them to tone down the sweetness. The fried tofu served with the Pad Thai was virtually tasteless on its own; there seemed to be no seasoning/marinating applied in the tofu preparation. There were very few vegetables and very little egg served with the Pad Thai. Strangely, the chopped peanuts were hidden beneath the noodles rather than being tossed with or served on top of the noodles. For all of the above reasons, I cannot recommend Sala Thai. A frozen Thai entrée from the grocery store would have been a huge improvement. read more
