Food: 5* Service: 4* Ambiance: 4.5* Very difficult to find this lounge. Hidden away on the third floor by the food court with very little signage. But worth the exploration. This is also an Admirals Club, so for OneWorld elites it is the go to lounge. The Quanta's lounge (dingy and dark) is no where near this level. The food offerings from their cafe are great. Usually a veggie dish and often curry and always instant ramen. Self service and poured drinks are available for free. A very nice and quiet place to enjoy your lounge experience.

This is an excellent lounge because they are sanitary, always cleaning, very attentive, quiet, respectful, the music is not overwhelming. It's very low and I love that. The food is really good and has an Asian twist to almost everything which I also love. The food is not overwhelming with salt and fat and carbs. The shortbread Hawaiian cookies with coconut and salted caramel were very good and light and crispy. They are addictive. The wakame popcorn was very good and not salty at all, which is perfect because I find most popcorn to be very salty. They serve you the hot food so it's clean and sanitary so that all the people's hands and germs are not getting into it. I would love to come to this lounge all the time if I could.

Located right after TSA and shared with Admirals Lounge for American Airlines. Hot Food is not self service but it is available to order at the counter with some good choices. Staff is very friendly. Restrooms located outside the lounge but not too far. Lots of seating. They close at 11pm.

Not fancy place, but still very good. It has plenty of snack type of dishes for all. Love their many drinks, especially the ice cold green tea. Of course, their cold a/c definitely perfect for a hot day!

The Sakura Lounge is located right after TSA check. Take the stairs to the second floor. They share the same location with American Airlines. Hot foods are available, but not self served. Service is with a smile. Order at the counter. There is a pancake station and soft drinks. Restrooms are located outside. Overall, this is one of the better lounges at this airport.

Our vacation to Japan brought us to the Sakura Lounge at HNL, which is a shared space of American Airlines & Japan Airlines. They're located in terminal 2 between gates D & F, hidden away on level 3. Take the elevator or stairs and you'll be greeted by a back hallway-looking corridor that leads to the lounge. ATMOSPHERE: While fairly spacious, it's not as large as other Admiral's Club lounges we've been to at bigger airports. Big windows let in lots of natural light with views of the airport's tropical gardens and ponds. There is no quiet area or kid's playroom, just basic seating along the counters, low tops and a dining room. Power outlets are plentiful. The magazine/newspaper shelf was bare, but the majority were on their phones or laptops anyway. Restrooms are located outside of the lounge but they did sport bidets! F&B AMENITIES: All the usual suspects like soft drink & coffee machines are here. During breakfast, a pancake-making machine was quite popular. A hot foods counter served up chicken curry & rice (not a big fan or connoisseur of curry, but it was decent), plant-based pokē (eerily similar in taste & texture to the real thing), and Spam musubi which the spouse approved of. The pre-packaged and pre-seasoned mini instant chicken ramen is best left to a child's unsophisticated palate. Other options were fresh fruit, plant-based croquettes and alfredo mushroom pasta to name a few. Oddly no eggs, cereal or oatmeal were in sight. SERVICE: It was refreshing to experience Asian politeness & service after years of stoic & obnoxious mannerisms while traveling within continental US airports. OVERALL: Comfortable environment to bide your time.

It may not be impressive but this is probably the second best airline lounge at HNL. (Hawaiian Airlines Apt 1929 dorsn't count). Although it is also branded as an American Airlines Admiral's Club this is a JAL Sakura Lounge run entirely by JAL personnel. The location overlooks the Cultural Garden, part of the original airport built in 1962. While you can't do any plane-spotting you do have the best air conditioned view of the garden's ponds, walkways, a huge centerpiece monkeypod tree. If you sit by the windows it will feel like you're up in the branches of the tree's canopy. The greenery is beautiful and relaxing. The food is very bare bones. The best thing to get is a plate of curry rice. JAL's version is the best you'll find at the airport. There is a staffed walk up bar but it is also limited. It can get crowded before a JAL flight. It never gets unpleasant because Japanese travelers are generally more considerate and less noisy than Americans (meaning they don't have phone conversations in front of everyone). The staff is also very good about bussing finished food and drink. Not even close to a NRT/HND/KIX Sakura Lounge, but the second best airline lounge in HNL. (the Hawaiian Airlines Apt 1929 is not an airline lounge - it is part of a paid premium service.

First I love that I received an email reminding me to visit the Sakura Lounge, and instructions on where to find it. Forewarning, the signage is almost an after thought so the email definitely helped. The Honolulu Airport Sakura lounge is clean and spacious. It's a bit lacking in the comfortable lounging chairs department - they're mainly desk type chairs and tables. But we made it work. The staff were so polite and attentive. And as far as airport lounges, the food at Sakura did not disappoint. Definitely don't sleep on the Japanese curry. And my son can never say no to a spam musubi (IYKYK). The karaage was also pretty good. You'll also find a decent bar with beer, wine etc. Given we had an hour+ to kill before boarding, this was a great spot to refresh and have a light bite before boarding.

First time in a business lounge so I guess best lounge I've been to officially. We had a somewhat hard time finding the lounge. I didn't know the airport even had a 3rd floor until today! Lounge is hidden and shares an entrance with american airlines lounge. You have to go through the garden (maybe not, but we did) to get to the elevator to the third floor. It's a nice lounge. A bunch of seating with a bunch of food. You wouldn't know it exists. Food is mainly self serve and a small (but good) portion. I had a good portion of chicken curry with rice and an extremely strong coffee. Curry was just right for me and is hyping my future visit to some awesome curries (reviews coming soon!) Will I be back? If I ever fly JAL on business class ever again so I don't know. It would be a yes though.

Sakura Lounge offers a spacious and serene atmosphere with nice garden views, making it a pleasant retreat within the airport. Despite a limited food spread, the quality is commendable. I got the Shanghai Style Fried Noodle and miso soup which is just fine but I tried some of my husband's curry rice and it was flavorful. There is a mini bar with limited selection of alcohol drinks and a small corner for other drinks and pastries. Charging outlets are conveniently available. There is ample seating, each with a power socket. For the location, we had a hard time finding this lounge but it is located above the central food court, near the cutural garden. Overall, I highly recommend it! Relaxing and not crowded.

    Dining area

Quiet, ample room, good food service. The Sakura /Admirals Club lounge is located toward the center of the Food Court of terminal 2. Stairs to the right of @HNL Restaurant to the 3rd level or an elevator near the @HNL entrance.

Solid airport lounge! You can gain access as a OneWorld alliance member (I want to say at least Sapphire level, but I got in here as a guest of someone who has the status so actually I'm not sure lol), since this Sakura Lounge is really an AA Admirals Club one. Even though it was May 2022 when I visited, they still require you to wear masks except when eating/drinking (#so2021 #so2020). All good, though, since the food, booze, and service make up for it. This place used to be self-serve, but no more. You go up to the front to tell the staff what you want to eat/drink, and they will get it for you and put everything on a tray (can you spell cafeteria?). For booze, it's the usual beer and wine (though I suspect they have hard A as well). For food, they have cut fruit, Japanese karaage, chicken noodle soup, Japanese instant noodles (also chicken flavored), and snacks like cookies and pastries. Even though the karaage was pre-fried and cold, it didn't taste that bad. Wish they had Kewpie mayonnaise to dip, though. This sounds horrible (maybe I'm just hard on myself), but I liked the Japanese instant noodles and had like 3 of them. They ask each time whether you want green onions on the noodles, and the answer should always be 'yes' because veggies are good for you. When I visited, there was barely anyone there (like no joke, more staff than guests), so that was enjoyable to have all that space. If you need to relieve yourself, you actually have to exit the lounge because the restrooms are outside of it. Hilarious when you re-enter, because the staff (staffs? trying to indicate plurality here) will greet you. It's so Hawaiian: Japanese manners, but in English.

Typical Japanese minimalism with many individual pandemic barriers (June 22, 2022).

My first time in this lounge transiting through to Asia. Pros: 1. It is large with a lot of windows and natural light. 2. The AC works well and is a relief after the sweaty cattle call they label as security checkpoint 3. 3. There are many places to sit that utilize both counter work seating and also a lot of dining type tables and individual comfy chairs. 4. WiFi works well and the personnel are attentive and courteous. Cons: 1. Although this is in the US, they adhere to the much stricter Japanese COVID-19 rules. There is a mask requirement and there are individual plexiglass iso-shields up everywhere which gives the impression that you are in a sterile lab being experimented upon. It does give you a sense of cleanliness since no one can sneeze on you but it also prevents you from having much of a conversation with anyone and gives you the feeling of being incarcerated. 2. All the food is served by the staff. There is a list of what is there but you tell them what you want and they dish it out for you and pour your drink for you including simple ice water. This leads to a significant line up because there are only a couple of staff trying to keep up with the volume of hungry and thirsty guests. I don't mind the wait but sometimes I just want to see what the food is before I commit or I only want a small amount of something and with this system, you get what they give you. Very school lunch lady like with the added negative of not knowing what it actually is going to look like until they hand it to you. I don't want to be too critical because everything I'm describing as a con is truly a first world problem. And it does deliver a nice space above the fracas of the usual goat rodeo in the main terminal below. Plus, the air conditioning is really nice in the Hawaiian humidity and because the space is large, you do feel like you have some privacy from the rest of the world. These things make it a perfectly functional lounge and something worth three stars. However, I have been to many lounges around the world that are steps up in terms of views, ambience, food offerings, and overall amenities. So I think three stars is right on the mark and a fair assessment of what you'll get for your time spent here. Worth it if you happen to be here but not worth a trip specifically to seek it out.

    Self serve!!!

She tells people they can only stay two hours even though there is no time limit posted anywhere on the website or any other place, AND the place is completely empty. I've heard her say many times, "You can't stay here more than two hours. We have many people reserved for the place. I don't know where they are." The place is completely empty and she tells people they have to leave. Why can't she tell people they can stay until it gets busier? Also, she just sits behind her desk and makes personal phone calls that everyone can hear. If you ask her for anything (as she says to ask her for water and coffee), she looks at you like you are bothering her. This lounge just doesn't feel welcoming at all. It feels like you are bothering the one lady who works there and she uses the place as if she is at home.

I can get on base with my ID card, I can use the exchange/commissary, I can even fly space A within the United States and its territories. Today, I'm flying commercial out of terminal one at HNL, and I go through security, only to find out that the USO is in terminal two outside security. I thought it would be nice if I could grab a bite to eat, and possibly take a shower before my nine hour flight. So I catch the shuttle and I go over there. I ring the bell, and this lady comes to the door. She looks at my ID, and she says I can't let you in. I explained I've used the USO in the past, and I'm even in their computer system. So she looks back to who I assume is the boss, who is making lunch, and says as loud as she can, HEY, JERRY.... I GOT A 100% DISABLED VETERAN! " and of course, a bunch of people look over toward me... Well, that was embarrassing. Jerry, who's making lunch, doesn't even bother to look up. He just shakes his head and waves me off, like.... "Sorry..." I screwed up my body serving this country, and I should be allowed to use the USO. They allow retired military to use the USO, but they are not serving anymore If they have limited funds, and I can't use it anymore like I used to, that's fine. Maybe they could charge a small admission fee for disabled veterans to help cover the cost Regardless, they could be nicer about it. It's nice to know that at least this USO, they treat their veterans as nice as they treat their active duty and retired people..(said with sarcastic overtones...)

However, compared to the other HNL lounges this one is a pretty comfortable and spacious one with solid food and drink options. The staff are super nice and courteous, and plates are cleared regularly or while you're away to get more food or use the restroom. One thing not to miss are the 2 HNL-exclusive bar drinks that can't be found at any other Sky Club location: the Blue Hawaiian and Mai Tai. Served in a tiki glass, they're definitely fitting of the island vibes and a nice send off before going on a flight! Coming for breakfast, the spread was varied and healthy with an aloha flair to it. Ranging from Hawaiian fried rice to pineapple vanilla yogurt parfait, kale & cranberry breakfast salad, and some of the most juciest and sweetest pineapple cubes at ANY aiprort lounge, there's something for everyone to get a jump to the day. Nothing is overly heavy or greasy, and is filling without feeling like it's weighing you down. A good place to relax and unwind to get a solid meal in before heading out!

The food and beverage offerings are minimal but palatable. When it's crowded things get depleted quickly but they are good about refilling offerings regularly. A good airline lounge in Daniel K Inouye is hard to find. The Delta Sky Club is a mid level lounge at best.

Large, open, bright space with long wooden tables, stools with no backs, and high tables with same. A few big screen tvs mounted on walls with sports going on. Ladies, it's not just a place for beer. They also have delicious variety of cocktails and mocktails. Server was very nice and let us know to use our phones to scan the QR on table. You order from here and pay too. The server won't come to take your order. Not sure how this is handled if you have no phone. They may have menus and drinks written on chalkboard at bar or maybe request a paper menu. She brought us waters with a bottle to refill on our own, plates, cutlery and napkins. Drinks didn't take long and were deliciously concocted. We ordered chips with ahi dip- lots of dip and not enough chips but I'm sure if you asked for more they would acquiesce. Yummy and right flavor not too salty. Also onion rings which were large and plenty in the basket! You had choice of ranch dressing or brown mustard and we wanted to mix so she said no problem and brought them! Then we had to try the dessert flight which were three cute little prepared sweets of crème Brûlée, strawberry shortcake and a brownie with some type of custard on top. Yum! Place was clean, not too loud, and a restroom inside their place which was nice. All the servers were friendly, pleasant and made sure we had what we needed, clearing plates and glasses, keeping table clean. We really enjoyed powering up before power shopping so will return!

Ordering was super easy and quick using the QR code to place and pay, which I appreciated. The beermosa itself was refreshing and well done, and I'd absolutely come back just for that. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet expectations. The "crispy" pork ended up being more hard than crunchy--so chewy that after one piece my jaw was sore. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend agreed it was tough as well. The grilled cheese was also a bit surprising. Instead of the classic buttery, crisp bread with melty cheese inside, the cheese was grilled onto the outside and inside, which left the sandwich lacking that satisfying crunch. The fries were tasty, but for a $7 upgrade, I was hoping for a more generous portion than what arrived on the plate. On a positive note, the staff was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and checked on us a few times during our meal, which always makes a difference. Overall, I really wanted to love the food more, but it fell short this time. That said, I'd still consider coming back for another beermosa and hopefully a better kitchen day next time.
