FABULOUS!! From Pho to Summer Rolls to Caramelized Pork! Price is outstanding, too!

Saigon Palace is a reliable stand-out in the area. I have never had a bad meal here and usually have a great meal, whether dining in or for carry-out. Like others, I was surprised to see this place open up in Edgewater and even more surprised to see it remain open in a location that has not been so kind to other eateries that opened in this, slightly out of the way strip mall (compared to other places in town). Eating in is where Saigon Palace really shines. The service is always very attentive and friendly. One of their waitresses has been there for years now, possibly since opening?, and always remembers us when we come in, even if just to run in and grab a carry-out order. Your glass will never go empty here and the service is prompt and unobtrusive. I have to disagree with a reviewer suggesting that the decor should be darker and pumped full of music, as this is is a restaurant only and not a bar. Personally I do not like eating in a dark room and prefer to be able to see the beautiful food that these wonderful folks are setting before me and my lovely wife across the table. Music in restaurants is almost never at the right volume and simply gets in the way when poorly executed. I'll take Saigon Palace just like it is. The oranges are a great palette cleanser at the end of the meal and are always ripe and chilled perfectly. The hot towels are a nice way to clean yourself up after handling the various components of your meal and get your paws good and clean before getting in your car. The smell of industrial dish detergent can be a bit strong on them if they have come straight out of the dishwasher (yes, that is that smell and no, they aren't contaminated that is some powerful stuff) but, a little airing out and it actually invigorates and refreshes nicely after sitting down to a wonderful spicy dish. So, what about all this beautiful food? Well, despite my admitted skepticism on my first visit (I mean c'mon Vietnamese in Edgewater?!?), I was pleasantly blown away on my first visit and have been so on every occasion that I eat here. The food is dead-on consistent and consistently very good. My wife started out on the Mixed Veggie Sautee w/chicken (#42) and was very happy until..... she tasted the Shaky Beef(#48). This is a real standout and is not spicy at all for those that do not care for it but still want a great meal. My personal favorites include: Clay Caramel Fish(#50), Lemongrass Beef(#44), and of course the house Pho. I prefer the Saigon Palace Special Pho(#20) with all the goodies simmered perfectly in their delicious broth. Carry-out is also very consistent here and never disappoints. The only gripe, and it is minor, is that on a busy Friday or Saturday night, you may have to call a few times before someone answers the phone and you may have to wait a few minutes(up to 5) beyond your supposed pick-up time. I can live with these idiosyncrasies for Vietnamese food this good in such an unexpected place and so close to home. read more

A great vietnamese place, the best in the Annapolis area, and one of the best in Maryland. I recommend the appetizer sampler. It is a lot of food, but so worth it. I also think that the papaya salad is awesome. Sometimes they pit too many onions in, so I recommend telling them to hold the onions. But the sauce is perfection for it. I always order one of the rice vermicelli dishes. The combo is good. I always leave feeling stuffed and happy. Take your time to enjoy this wonderful place, it is worth it! read more

All of your yelp reviews were making my mouth water! Had to get a bowl of pho ASAP! When our bowls of soup arrived I immediately noticed the sweet smell of anise and coriander coming from the broth, it was a beautiful thing. It was visually appealing as well, you could see the glistening, golden bubbles of fat around the noodles. The soup itself was delicious, but the meat was a tad chewy. It was just what I was looking for and I will defiantly be back. Oh, don't forget to ask for the side of sprouts, basil, limes and jalapeños if it doesn't come out with your pho. I would eat here every day if it wasn't so far away from where I live and work. The Pho is the best in the area, hands down. Of all the places in DC and NoVA, nothing even comes close to the flavor at Saigon Palace. Portions are very generous for the price, so it is an exceptional value; and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Spoiler alert: this place does not have vegan or vegetarian pho. I was hesitant to believe they did since it's not traditional and almost impossible to find outside of bigger cities but reviews for this place and the "vegetarian pho" listed on some of their menus made me check it out. All vegetation options come with tofu. I asked for veggies instead and they came extremely over cooked. The summer rolls we ordered were just rice, fried tofu and one piece of thai basil. Pretty bland. The server was very nice but with five full tables and lots of take out orders rolling in they needed a food runner and another server. Definitely looked like the majority of customers were ordering the special pho which seems to be recommended. Definitely think that you should stick to the meat items on menu and probably skip this place if you're a vegetarian. Hate to say it, but I won't be back. read more

This is like chinese food from the china. Its pretty good place is full of nerds. Lots of mtg going on which I found insanely arousing.

I try Pho any time I get a chance, just to see if it compares to Saigon Palace. I am 0 for 5. Saigon Palace is still the Pho Champ!

I'm starting to notice a pattern with my reviews. Most of them are a solid four stars. I wouldn't say it is because I'm easy to please I just pick the right places and Saigon Palace is definitely one of those good places. My boo and I decided to try this place for our weekly pho fix. Our goal is to try the pho at every Vietnamese joint in the area. Week one, Saigon Palace. We walked in and were seated right away. This was a lot fancier than our usual paper napkin Vietnamese restaurants but it wasn't over the top. (By fancy I mean cloth napkins and no plastic dinnerware) They were quick to bring us two waters that would not go empty the rest of the night because of their due diligence in making sure we were never in need. We both ordered the Pho Tai. You have a choice of small or large. I originally chose the small but consulted with the waitress and she pointed to a gentleman who had a large bowl. A large here is comparable to a Los Angeles medium/small. In Los Angeles a large is almost the size of a freaking dutch oven. Anyway we haven't had pho in awhile so Larges all around!! We also ordered the summer spring roll. About 5 mins later the spring roll came out. It was so hot, as in temperature. This was undoubtedly fresh. Really nothing special but it was good. Your typical spring roll I presume. On to the pho. I was so happy to see the beef was reddish/pink floating in my delicious, bubbling broth. I tailored it to my liking with a healthy handful of bean sprouts, jalapenos, Thai basil, a big squirt of sriracha and top it all off with a lime. A quick stir and I'm ready to go. It was delicious. The broth was clean and full bodied. The vermicelli was perfectly cooked and the meat was outstanding. My nose started to run because I'm a glutton for punishment and always put a little too much sriracha. It was $7.99 for a large bowl, which is a little expensive, but totally worth it. The wait staff was amazing. They were so sweet; making sure the meal was to our liking and constantly refilling our waters. I would've liked a little more meat but I won't hold it against them because I can never have enough meat. After the meal they gave us a few slices of oranges and a hot towel. I have never received that after a hot bowl of pho! This was awesome. It totally cleansed my palate and cooled me down; something very important for a hot summer night. I absolutely LOVE pho, and even enjoy eating it in summer months. I just LOVE all the fresh herbs. The Pho here was ok, like everyone has commented, the place is dark, very limited decorations, pho was ok, nothing spectacular. I go here for Pho all the time. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. The people who run it are very courteous and hard working, and I love the family feel of everything. My boyfriend and I make a special trip from Annapolis to Edgewater (really not far- but a drive when everything else we do is walking distance) for Pho usually once every week or so. I've tried their Banh Mi sandwiches, some various appetizers, and many drinks (my favorite is the Brazilian Coffee Boba). I've never been disappointed. Seriously love this place so much. read more

I went with 6 other people so a decent sized group. 5 of them got pho and all said it was delicious and that would have given this a much higher review. I ordered mixed vegetables with chicken and it had a sauce. It was so bland and the main two vegetables were cabbage and celery, it was not an equal amount of all of the vegetables. But it was seriously so bland I had to add sooo much soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sriracha. The last person got fried rice and they brought him a completely different meal. We told the waiter and they had to cook his right meal so he was waiting around. When he finally got the fried rice, that too was very bland. When it comes to the service, it was very poor service. We didn't get menus or anything for 5+ minutes and there was only 3 other groups. And we were all done and we had to stop them for to go boxes. And much more time goes on and they never come back to us. We had to get up and go ask for our bill. And we have the credit card on the bill and the server keeps walking past it without taking it. It may have been with it if the food was good. But this place is good for pho otherwise I would come here. read more

I have to agree w/another review, this place is nothing to rave about and how they have 4 stars is beyond me. At any rate, I had the combo banh mi' sandwich and fresh garden rolls. The rolls were mostly lettuce, w/a small slice of pork and 1 shrimp, no bean sprouts or mint or basil, very bland, the peanut sauce was much the same, bland. It took over 20 minutes to get the sandwich; there were 2 other tables currently seated and eating, there might have been 1 order in the queue, but couldn't have been more than 2. When I managed to get the waiters attention to ask him about my sandwich he said "it takes some time to prepare" what he should have said was "we have to bake/heat the roll". The combo banh mi' consisted of sliced meats and pate' w/cilantro and pickled carrots, like the garden rolls it had NO TASTE! Very disappointed, I am on the road a lot and I eat at a variety of Thai/Vietnamese/Korean places this is w/out a doubt the worst tasting food out of the group. Service was OK, friendly, but not attentive. I have to add, there was a girl sitting at the bar eating, she voiced her displeasure w/her dish and the server told her it her taste buds that have changed since her last visit. They went back and forth for at least 10 of the 20 minutes while I was waiting for my sandwich and he refused to accept her opinion and rectify the problem, instead he argued w/her until she got up and left. I ordered dinner for carry out for my husband's birthday and there was a bug in his vermicelli. Also my son ordered sweet and sour soup with shrimp and he got beef broth pho with pork and a few shrimp. Needless to say we will not be going back or ordering anything else. read more

This place brings food to the hospital cafeteria at night from time to the me and is a big hit with all my co-workers! We love everything!

Will not be returning, I have been 3 times. Each visit, the service was progressively worse. First visit was fine, nothing special, I got my food and it was enjoyable. Second go around was ok, but the gentleman taking my order was kinda rude. The third and last time I never got the correct order after them trying 3 times. And it was not a difficult order. Steak Pho with no noodles, and extra sprouts (I cant currently eat the noodles because of a diet.) Each time I got my food, all 3 iterations had noodles, (even after explaining what the issue was to 2 different people) finally I walked out. The waiter did not seem interested in serving me as well. Only reason they get 1 star is because the food is not bad, in fact its actually pretty good.... If you get the correct order. read more

Great Pho! Excellent noodles! Go here for Vietnamese food...excellent, fresh, addictive. The beef pho with brisket, meatball, lean beef is amazing. I have missed Vietnamese food since the Saigon Palace in Annapolis near Graul's closed many years ago... this a a good alternative. No atmosphere and TV is always on soap operas at lunch, but the food is so good you won't care. read more

The service is good, but it's a bit more relaxed. I love the atmosphere there. Everything is always clean. The food is also really clean and rich. I've been to a lot of pho restaurants in the area and this is my favorite. The pho broth is flavorful, not too salty or seems like it has a lot of MSG. The sprouts and basil is always fresh. My husband and I went there last winter for lunch and it was great food! Not sure if it changed owners since but we went there lastnight (October 2018), the waiter spoke no english except pick number on menu. Understood NO ENGLISH so asking questions regarding food items was out of the question, the service was horrible and food was absolutely gross. We both Felt sick the next morning. When it come to phô it's all about the broth. I've been coming here for about 5 years now and I can say that I've never had a terrible meal. It's my go-to spot on the way back home as I pass through the Annapolis area. I always get the bún, pad thai or the phô and I'm never disappointed. read more

I've been to a lot of different Pho places around the NOVA area but this location is my favorite because of the slightly sweeter broth that I just love. The meat is almost always tender. The service can be a little lacking upon occasion... and the amount of meat they put in the pho is inconsistent. We love Saigon Palace. We have never eaten in the restaurant, but get take-out several times per month. The pho is amazing and the portion is huge. The grilled pork on the bun is fantastic. We also usually get a portion of pork fried rice. It is the best fried rice we have ever eaten. read more
