I have lived in Millis for 3 years and finally tried Saigon last week. I was so happy with my food! I got the spring rolls, which were fresh and perfectly cooked. I also got a dish called crispy chicken noodles that was so fresh and flavorful, And a chicken curry dish with rice noodles and pea pods. All vegetables in the meal were fresh and crunchy. I had enough food for 3 meals with these dishes- and the total was under 30 dollars! I believe this is only takeout since covid, but I'm so glad I tried it there! read more

As previously stated by some other reviewers, this is a cash only establishment. When walking in I personally didn't see any signage indicating that, not a huge deal as i make it a habit to carry some cash in case i need it. It's also BYOB, they'll provide glasses for your wine. Decor wise, I actually thought it was kinda cool for being dated. It felt like I was in an old movie, very late 80s early 90s and that's ok. When walking in we were seated to a table and suddenly the place filled up pretty fast on a Tuesday. Which, seemed by the mannerisms of the staff, a current occurrence. Everyone brought wine with them. I ordered the chicken noodle soup(pho ga) and lemon soda. My bf ordered the number 38* served with rice noodles. The soup was not watered down at all, it had a rich flavor that was pretty typical and aromatic. The only downside was the portion, wish it was a little bigger. They claim they are busy and my takeout will take 30 minutes. I ask if anything is quick since I drove 20 min out of my way to try a new place...he says we are busy and nothing quick. Two of twenty tables are taken. 1) It's Tuesday at 7pm 2) If this is busy...when 3 tables are filled does your head explode? Haven't even tried the food...but soured already. We've been to this restaurant twice, both times on my insistence and both times a let down when it came to service. The food was good. The place clean & cozy for couples. We felt they were unwelcoming as we had our kids along. We do a lot of eating out & take out, and love Vietnamese food, but because of the feeling we got, we moved on to a restaurant farther away. While we were doing Thai take out tonight, I decided to order my meal from Saigon to see how it'll work. I called and after the guy took my order, realizing it's a small order (2 appetizers & 1 entre) he said it'll take 45 mins and proceeded to tell me they are busy and why don't I cancel the order?! A very good ethnic option and really the only Vietnamese place in the vicinity. It's BYOB, cash only, and they prefer you reserve tables on weekends. It's a family run place with a bit of seating so expect family run service. They do not mention pho much on the menu but they do have it if you ask for it. My 9 year old loves the Pho Ga here. I enjoy the combination pan fried noodles. You can take out here as well but they do not off some dishes for takeout (like pho). read more

So I went here on recommendations by friends as well as seeing it on HiddenBoston. I walked away pretty disappointed. The food itself is okay but different if your used to Vietnamese places in Boston or NYC. No pho, don't even bother asking or looking, this isn't that kind of place. It is Vietnamese, but in general it feels more generic Southeast Asian, the food itself is okay but has a homestyle cooking feel to it, but it doesn't have the clean flavors and textures that I normally associate Vietnamese cuisine to have, everything just seemed a bit muddled and kinda greasy. The worst of the deal was that we sat down at 8 PM, we left at 10 PM, it took 2 hours to get two cold appetizers and two stir fried dishes. Services is generally poor. They don't take cards, cash only (although in a pinch they'll take a check, but bring cash) It's also BYOB. But it's very affordable. read more

Saigon is pretty awesome. If you dont know what to get, Ming, the owner, will give you awesome suggestions. I like the pancake, the asparagus and crab soup, and the curry (74). At one point, Ming gave me a togo menu and circle the dishes that he recommends, so I wont forget. =) I like that it's BYOB, last time we were there, we made sangria in advance, haha. My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. It's easy to know that because our son is 25 and my wife would crave this food when she was pregnant with him. The owner, Minh, is very customer oriented and he has a system that works for him and he stays with it. We love the cabbage salad with crushed nuts and sauce. Lots of good items on the menu and as mentioned by others, know that cash is king. If he knows you, he will take a check, but don't go in expecting to drop the Amex down for a party of 10; its not that kind of place. BYOB is great. You can enjoy a relaxing meal with exactly what you want to drink and the restaurant will provide you with wine or beer glasses and openers. We walk in with a cooler and friends and setup shop like we are camping in Blackwoods campground in Bar Harbor. This is family owned and operated. They are a well known local spot but we travel from Wrentham which is a 30 minute drive, and pass a hundred other places to eat on the way. I like it; I like the owner, and we've watched his children grow up and now their children are working in the restaurant when it's really busy. They work hard and run with the program that works for them and if that works for you, you'll find a match made in heaven. Never had a bad meal here and always enjoy it and even get take-out here from time to time. My wife is a plant based nutritionist so she's very particular about what she gets and she always is happy. There's something here for everybody but don't come in with an attitude, and don't come in with a credit card expecting it to work. read more

This is hands down one of the greatest asian restaurants in the United States. I do not understand why it does not have a 5 (five) start rating. The dishes are fresh, yummy, perfectly prepared and to top it all off, very reasonably priced. My family and I have been going there for 20 years. I have been to Vietnamese restaurants all over the United States and Canada and Paris and London and more, and this is the best I have ever had. First of all, Minh is probably one of the most gracious hosts at any restaurant I have ever been too. It's not "true" Vietnamese, as I suspect they had to tone it down due to the demographics. Let's face it, I'm not sure traditional Vietnamese would fly in Millis, but if you ask Minh for something in particular, he will definitely make it for you. The food itself is really good (#66, #72, #2, etc) and it is BYOB, which keeps the bill low. I would recommend, but would warn that it is more of a pan asian type restaurant as opposed to Vietnamese. read more

I've driven by the place a million times and never saw it. After the 3rd person to tell me "you have to go there" I gave it a try. It's not going to get stars on ambiance or decor, but that doesn't matter when the food is excellent, made with fresh veggies and ingredients AND is sooo reasonably priced. The first time I went we were a group of 4, ordered what seemed like a bajillion different dishes to try, and our check before tip was under $50. FOR DINNER. I have been back since a few times in just a couple months. The owner is always there, he even waits on tables. And he is not shy to tell you what you should order, just gives you his honest opinion. I am so glad I found this place, I'm planning on trying everything on the menu. ;) p.s. the below info is correct, it's BYOB and Cash only. You get what you pay for I guess. Combination fried rice has no taste, as if it's been sitting out for hours. Also ordered beef with onion and mushroom, which comes with white rice, but the rice tastes more like pebbles, because they were that burnt. Beef was ok. Tasteless. While food may be authentic, doesn't mean it's prepared well. One star for the owner being very friendly though. read more

We have been going to Saigon Restaurant for years with more visits to it than any other restaurant. The food is great, excellent service, the prices low and BYOB. It's got it all. Try the wonton soup and spring rolls for starters. Then use your imagination. The food is flavorful but not hot (as in spicy hot). We had dinner there with someone recently who could not tolerate spicy food and she loved it. BUT I believe you can ask them to kick it up a notch and they will accommodate. They take reservations but not credit cards so bring cash! The host/owner (Minh) is as good as they come. This restaurant has a very loyal following. Come see for yourself. read more

I was surprised to read anything negative about Saigon. We have been going there for 20 years and have never had a disappointing meal. Yes, it's cash only, but prices are very reasonable and it's BYOB (with free set up). Ice water arrives with the menus. If the meals come out slower than other places, it's because everything is made to order. It's a family business and they work hard. We usually get the same thing, hot and sour soup for me (and it does have shrimp in it) and udon noodle soup for my husband who can't believe there is so much flavor in a clear soup. After just a few visits, the owner, who takes the orders, knew what we usually order. Last night I tried something new - sweet and sour scallops. They were very large, fried scallops, very fresh, with sautéed vegetables and a light sauce that was so delicious I put some of it on my rice. I don't usually like rice, but this was just fabulous. Chicken and vegetables is another favorite. And all that cost $35 plus tip. read more

This is by far the saddest Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. If you're familiar with any Vietnamese restaurant, you'd know pho is a staple. The fact that my husband and I walked in and ordered a pho, they said they don't have that. It's not in their menu. I give them one star for trying to attempt the noodle soup. They basically pulled some noodle soup with a few pieces of beef and called it a day. It was the most pathetic bowl of "pho" I've ever had. We also had thei egg rolls. It's nothing special. To top it off. We didn't know it was cash only until the bill came so my husband had to find an ATM. Best be sure we're never returning. read more

Saigon is an unexpected gem in Millis. It's not surprising this restaurant has few reviews, what with its lack of web presence and location off the beaten path (is there a beaten path in Milis?), but the quality of the food should be reason enough to make Saigon a destination. As a relatively recent transplant to the 'burbs, I am always on the lookout for good suburban ethnic food, and I am almost always disappointed (of course, Boston is generally hit or miss on this front as well). So it was that I came to Saigon -- hoping for good Vietnamese food, expecting to be less than thrilled. Saigon really delivered for a great hit of bold, bright, Asian flavors. We started with Saigon spring rolls (No. 2). For the entrees, we provided a little guidance to our server (who is probably the owner based on the comments in many of the other reviews) and he suggested the large shrimp sauteed with garlic, lemon grass onions and fish sauce (No. 70), chicken with snow peas, black mushrooms, transparent noodles and curry sauce (No. 74) and the combination noodles (No. 58). The shrimp and curry dishes were exceptional, and the noodles were pretty good as well. The No. 70 (no real names here, just descriptions) is a no frills plate of shrimp, onions and dark, salty, addictive sauce, but its simplicity is a virtue given the depth of flavor. The No. 74 -- a somewhat ugly and greasy pile of brown with splashes of bright green snow peas -- is, despite its appearance, remarkable. It is a yellow curry with a complex blend of flavors somewhat reminiscent of a Malaysian curry that each of us found ourselves unable to stop sampling. The No. 58 was good, if somewhat unremarkable in comparison to the other two entrees. Go to Saigon knowing what it is and what it isn't, and you are bound to have a good meal. What it isn't: (1) a pho restaurant; (2) a fine-dining establishment; (3) focused on service; (4) a health food restaurant; or (5) a bar (yep, as has been pointed out in many other reviews, Saigon is BYOB). What it is: a pan-Asian (as someone else mentioned, there does seem to be a mix of Chinese, Vietnamese and other Asian foods on the menu) restaurant serving deeply flavorful, unembellished food. read more

I wouldn't know if the food is any good. We called with a takeout order and the guy who took it told us to come by in 45 minutes. I came in at 40 minutes and the owner said a couple more minutes. Ten minutes later I asked for an update and they told me 20 minutes which would be over an hour. I asked why and the guy who took the order came over, and incredibly rudely with a smirk said "I said 45 minutes to an hour." I said no you didn't. He argued with me. The owner ignored me. We left without our food. The staff was unbelievably smug and rude. Don't bother with this unprofessional place. read more

I was a more than a little disappointed with this restaurant. we have 2 oriental restaurants in Millis.... This one falls way short of the other. I went back to this one 3 times over a year, thinking that they had an off night but things never changed, pretty bland and nothing to write home to mother about. The "OTHER" oriental restaurant, we go to 4-5 times a month and my wife and I wonder how this one stays in business without changing the business model. read more

Food: so greasy and mostly bland. - The pancake appetizer was loaded with grease. Ugh. - The spring rolls were tasty but again, drowned in grease. - The chicken with udon noodle soup was so bland with a few pieces of shredded chicken, almost like dish water. - The cold rice noodle with pork dish was bland and the pork pieces were dried and flavorless. - The pork fried rice was bland and the pork pieces were dried and flavorless. - The curry squid was very flavorful, but the rice that came with it was dried (almost like re-cooked old rice).
