An unassuming Vietnamese place in a strip mall near Ocean Job Lot. We came for lunch around 2:00 in the afternoon and there were about 5 other diners. The place is a little dark but service was friendly. Nice menu with variety. We primarily came for the pho. They have several options as well as regular, large, and some XL options. Broth was mediocre at best. We ordered the dac biet and it came with a good amount of meat and tendon. But I wish the broth was heartier. We also ordered the steamed noodle vermicelli that comes with rice paper to wrap. That was good! Four of us went out for dinner. The restaurant was lively with the staff bustling around. It was our second time and the first for our friends. Mid week it was busy but we were seated after a fifteen minute wait - well worth it. We ordered a number of dishes to share. The scallion pancakes were delicious. The stir fried chicken noodles and the ginger and scallion salmon were very tasty. A side order of grilled sliced pork was also good - I might have it as a main dish next time. We had a couple of Singha beers and a fresh coconut meat and juice. Our server, Harry, was cheerfully efficient. The check came to a total $82, quite reasonable for all of us feeling well fed. I came here for the first time with some coworkers for lunch. While busy, they were able to seat us right away in a comfy booth. The inside of this restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside. We got our food quickly and everyone enjoyed it. I got the beef noodle soup and enjoyed it, with the exception of the tripe not being cut up very well, which made it a little too textured of an experience for me. Guess who's back, back again (: It was me! Last night! I was feeling blue, so I dragged a dining buddy along for a pick-me-up dinner at Pho Horn's. We did 2 tái nạm pho & 2 sparkling lime soda & I truly think this combination could wake me from the dead. I loaded up on chili crisp & got to WORK on that bowl of soup. It healed me from the inside out & the soda was the perfect light, fresh pairing. Our server was quick, casual, & kind. We were in & out in probably about 45 minutes, down about $45 for the meal + tip. Side note - this parking lot is a bit chaotic, so proceed with caution. It is wicked calm and comfortable in the restaurant. The lighting seemed kinda dim which made me feel cozier. I had the summer roll (chicken&shrimp) with peanut sauce to start, and then the veggie-tofu pho for my meal. It contained so much broth/veggies/noodles that I had enough for a seemingly full-sized leftover package. I love to stop in to Pho Horn's or take friends here when we're in town. The fried rice is delicious and I'm told from friends that the pho recipes are authentic. I only wish the dining room were a little bigger since it can get busy, but they've decorated it with mirrors to make it seem nice and roomy and I'm fooled for a second every time. Be aware that the parking lot, while spacious and convenient, can at times get a little suspicious after a certain hour due to the area. I love to get the bubble tea here as well - it's always yummy, not overly sweet, and with tapioca pearls that feel fresh. The broth was good, I like that there are many pho options (I got #19 "small" which was actually a big portion!) but I've had better noodles. Not sure if these were just different than I'm used to or not as fresh as I'm used to getting in NY. Great prices and portion. There are weekday lunch specials but not for pho. Pho Horn's is no frills but delicious. I got the regular beef pho and spiced it up with a lot of chili oil. They give you a communal bowl of sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro, etc., to put into your pho. Parking is great, it's in a huge shopping lot. The only thing that's a little bit of a bummer is that all their wines are made from barefoot. I struggled through my glass of Merlot, but I did that to myself. Service was really good, and prices are reasonable. The most obvious choice to go with at Pho Horns is pho. But, I wanted to try something different these last couple times. On one visit I went with the seafood noodle soup and the next time the spare ribs from the appetizer menu with a side of white rice - both were very delicious. The soup comes with a large assortment of seafood items including fish balls, shrimp, imitation crab meat, and squid. The default is rice noodles but you can ask for egg noodles upon request. The broth was light in color, but very tasty. It had a neutral flavor rather than a strong seafood flavor. I added some of the Thai basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños provided as well as some chili oil and sriracha. Those all added a layer of complexity for the better. All the seafood tasted fresh and there was enough to have some in each bite. My favorite part was the imitation crab meat and my least favorite were the fish balls since they had a very strong fish taste. The soup only came in one size, but it was just the right amount of food - I finished it all and left very satisfied. The spare ribs are also delicious. The order comes with 4 meaty, tender, and perfectly grilled-like ribs. They have a hint of sweet. They reminded me of a way better version of the spare ribs from Chinese take out. I noticed that they recently added a podium and a host/hostess position so that might help with the seating situation as it does get very packed especially in the later hours and on weekends. read more

Pho Horn is the greatest hole-in-the-wall place around - statement not made lightly! This cozy spot offers authentic and comforting options, with savory pho being what they're best known for. I have very fond memories here, from weekend pho runs as a teen with my family to introducing friends to Pho Horn as an adult. My go-to (this order rarely changes) is the #18, an extra large beef noodle soup with sliced steak, well done brisket, flank, tendon and tripe. If you're timid on how big this bowl is, the #19 is the exact copy that comes in small or large. The noodles are always cooked perfectly and I love how much meat they pile up in each bowl. Sometimes, I opt out of tendon and tripe as it's more of a textural thing for me, and request for meatballs instead. For certain, the bowls are generous, hearty and well-balanced. The broth is super rich and can be enjoyed standalone. However, I love adding the complementary garnishes, like fresh Thai basil, jalapeños, a spritz of lime, sriracha, hoisin sauce and chili oil. Ultimately, it all comes down to preference. Pho Horn is one of the very few places that have their broth to a T - customizing it like I did would only enhance it! I can't end this review without highlighting the avocado bubble tea and scallion pancakes. The smoothie texture is rich, creamy and has the right amount of sweetness. The pearls themselves could be a hit or miss, sometimes too mushy or hard but the drink itself 100% makes up for it. For an appetizer, the scallion pancakes are a perfect snack to nibble on - crunchy, light and umami. If you're new or a veteran to pho, I highly recommend giving Pho Horn a try. They're an affordable and no-frills restaurant with speedy but efficient service. read more

While visiting a friend in Rhode Island, she brought me to Pho Horn's for lunch. It was a cold and rainy afternoon, and the restaurant was surprisingly full. The service was extremely fast and friendly. We each placed our order for pho and a beverage and it was promptly brought to our table. I opted for a classic combination of beef pho with brisket, flank, tripe, and all of the yummy toppings. To wash it all down, I also ordered a Thai iced tea. The pho was filling, and the broth was flavorful. You can tell they use high quality cuts of meat as none of my meat was fatty or gristly, but packed all the flavor. Place is a but small and sometime there is a wait during busy hours but usually its not too bad. I usually get their pho noodles but other stuff on the menu are also pretty good. Usually I go for the regular XL pho or meatball pho. Their egg rolls, spring rolls, crab Rangoon, and wings are also pretty good. Per my last review, since the not so good experience with the manager there, I stop going to eat in, but I can not stop ordering take out once a month lol so I when to pick up my order and to my surprise the owner was there and he actually remembered me! he asked me why I have not been coming like usual, I explained my bad experience with the manager and how disappointed and upsetting the situation was for me. The owner at pho horns apologized, gave me his private number and said if anything like this ever happens again please call me! He stated he did not want to loose a customer of 15 years over something like this. I learned about this place getting takeout on DoorDash. This is authentic pho soup so this is rare. It takes days to make the broth from what I know about it. I hate to say that this is some of the worst food I've ever had, of any kind. I've eaten a lot of Vietnamese food, so we were looking forward to this, but I really don't understand how so many people are raving about this place. We had the fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, short ribs, and lemongrass beef with rice. Of those the only one that was edible was the fried spring rolls. The fresh spring rolls were extremely dry overall, and contained the driest chicken I've ever seen. The short ribs were also dry and didn't taste good. The lemongrass beef was very strange -- a watery, very sweet and very salty sauce, and the beef itself was terrible. We didn't have the pho, which some people seem to like, but unfortunately there's no way we're going back after this. Additionally, we called the order in, and when my partner went to pick it up someone else had taken it. He had to wait for them to make it again. read more
