Both tastes great - they got a noodle version that's a thick udon like similar to banh canh in Vietnam which is great. - asparagus in snow and fried vegetables are also a great treat. But I prefer the asparagus as the fried veggies feel more oily. - duck curry was also really good, we ask for banh mi to eat with curry and was accommodated - nem nuong was also an epic dish, with tons of veggies to eat along Service is ok, they try their best. Literally, the architecture here is impressive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Vohns is easily one of the best spots to eat in Bellingham. I work down the street and have been coming here for years. Hmmm, yea... no. This is the second time we've tried eating here and there's not going to be a third. In short: No vegetables to add to the pho; meat was (seemed to be) pre-cooked. (Pho Thai is supposed to be shaved steak that cooks IN the hot broth when served). We had to ask for all the other condiments that normally accompany pho. The Thai tea seems like a mix. There was a powdery grit at the bottom of the glasses and it tasted like chocolate or something we never could put our finger on. The service was "ok". First visit to Vohn's Restaurant A Vietnamese,Laos and Thai restaurant Roxanne was our server Brought to our table was a tray of condiments- including homemade Sriracha sauce and plum sauce and hot oil -and a few others. This is a nice touch as you won't need to ask the server for this or that. We started with the recommended egg rolls that came 4 to an order with a sweet dipping sauce - I opted to try the combination of sriracha and plum sauce for dipping. The rolls were crispy and good. Next I ordered the Tom Yum soup a Thai hot and sour soup with shrimp- one of the best soups I've had- beware this soup is full of Thai chili peppers and Jalapeño lime leaves and lemongrass - delicious yet spicyyyyy My guest ordered pineapple fried rice with chicken - another great choice I was looking for spicy basil chicken with brown rice and was recommended to order Kai Lad Na Gra Prow - came with steamed white rice- minced chicken- onion,mushroom,carrots and jalapeños and basil sautéed I didn't particularly care for the minced chicken- I prefer sliced chicken. The sauce was ok - I think I'll try something different next visit The only other thing I would have preferred is our server had taken our finished dishes away. We were given the check and signed the credit card slip and the dishes still were not removed from our table We would have ordered dessert - however we weren't asked and the dirty dishes left no room on the table. Loved it here!! A friend recommended I get the pho so I got the chicken it was so fresh and amazing. The large is huge, I had less than half and now I have an awesome lunch to look forward to tomorrow. While waiting for our table we saw a table get served and was intrigued at what was served so of course we had to ask what it was and get some for ourselves. Make sure you get the traditional home made rice flour noodles. Sooo good. Traditional look and feel. They have an extensive menu covering Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai and Laos food. Staff was friendly. Food was on point. Private parking lot. My entire meal beverage (thai tea), large traditional home made chicken rice flour noodle soup, with a mango sticky rice dessert Togo + 20% tip was under $30! Insane. If I'm ever back in this town, I'll come back and try other menu items. Support your local businesses. Only recently found Vohn's, but have been twice in 2 weeks already. First, the food is very good. We LOVE their (shrimp) Summer Rolls with their delicious dipping sauce! Was hard to not just eat 2 orders of these for my meal! But my first visit I got Panang Curry, which is delicious. It was made the traditional way with just meat (chicken for me). Would be nice to optionally add vegetables. My husband got Beef Pho, which he said was good. Next visit I got Summer Rolls of course. Then Chicken Pad Thai. Not great - did not taste like the many many other Pad Thais I have had - ate half of it. As I had read other mixed reviews of the Pad Thai I knew to ask for peanuts on top. Did not get them. Asked server again, she forgot again. Waited 15 minutes of no servers, so I had to go get her. My husband and daughter both got Chicken Pho which they enjoyed. We discussed it would be nice to have an option to add additional veggies (like brocoll Pea pods, bok choy). I've seen that done elsewhere. So food seems good, service not so much. The 2 visits were different, but I'll generally list: - No condiments on table (you have to ask) - If there's no silverware on the table your server won't notice (you have to ask) - Never asked if we'd like anything to drink (you have to ask) - Don't ask you if you'd like optional items, like what kind of noodles, do you want nuts, etc. (you need to know the idiosyncracies of the menu items you're picking) - There is not one server assigned to you - they kinda all provide service - but that means no one person is responsible or knows what the other has or hasn't done for you or asked you - Not particularly friendly (2nd visit one was pleasant but very quiet) I'll still come for the Summer Rolls however, and hope service improves to make it even more enjoyable! read more

Last week I went to this restaurant and my server, Corin, was a very nice, distinguished young man and was very nice to me and my 33-year-old baby boy, and often checked on us to see how we were doing. Fairly new to the area and far from my usual Vietnamese haunt, I was craving Pho. Locals recommended this spot so I met a friend for lunch on a quiet weekday. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. Service was prompt and friendly. I perused the menu, despite being single-minded about the purpose of my visit. I hope to return and try some of the other dishes. I ordered Chicken Pho while my friend opted for Beef Pho and pork fried rice. We both enjoyed Our soups very much! There was plenty of tender, sliced white chicken in mine. The accompanying add-ins were very fresh. The broth was delicious but a bit milder than I am used to having. The best pho broth is seasoned and simmered for many hours. But, despite this, I'd order it again. Haven't been here for at least a year. Really craving for their soup noodles. Ordered a beef pho large... it was really questionable when it came. The size was different. Looked a bit small even the noodle portion. I always have my beef on the side. The beef looks fresh though. However, some were a bit chewy. Some were tender. Not the best beef quality I guess. Broth has lots of favors. Rice noodles are expected coz they are store bought thin rice noodles. Pretty standard, didn't overcook. Thai iced tea was good. Service was good. Waitstaff was friendly. For the most part (95.99%), I would recommend Vohn's every day. It has been a very rare occurrence that I have had an item that was not great. I'm an Asian food snob, sorry but not sorry, and I love great Asian food. She takes pride in the food being served and the service they provide. She grows her own hot peppers (you can definitely tell the spicy level difference), her own thai basil, etc.... and it makes a huge difference. Just be clear on your spicy level. Don't say you want a level 5 when you know you can't handle spicy. Level 5 is spicy enough to make your ears ring, sweat and a little drooling which can occur (BTW I LOVE SPICY). And she makes her own siracha sauce which is out of this world!! read more

Surprisingly good pho, but the real star is the egg rolls! It's so rare to see chicken pho featured prominently and even more rare for it to be good! Typical light broth, both in color and flavor. I'd love for it to have a bit more depth, but especially in Summer, a lighter broth is nice. You also have the option to add some crispy pork, which I should have done. But man oh man, the egg rolls. Authentic Lao & Thai cuisine found here: The selections at Vohn's Restaurant are endless! As a Lao American myself, I'm very happy the dishes are completely spot on. By all means, you will not be robbed of your experience! Who doesn't love crab rangoon and wings? Both appetizers were fried to crispy perfection - without being dunked in oil. Pair the items with sweet and sour sauce or top it with papaya salad. I'm personally not a fan of having shred carrot in papaya salad, but it does add the extra texture. Beware of customizing with too many peppers if you can't handle spice! Lastly, I had the lad na (mee ketang) beef - which I HIGHLY recommend. You can choose from a variety of proteins - like seafood or chicken. The protein, noodles, and veggies were coated with savory gravy. I like to add chili oil and tons of sriracha to get the spice kick! Overall, it's always a good experience at Vohn's. Just moved from Texas a month ago and I eat Pho at least 3-4 times a week. This place is one of the best places I've ever had. It reminds me of NYC or SF pho places I used to frequent. The broth is very rich and the noodles are great. We overheard the owner having a convo & turns out she makes her own Sriracha which is very good. I'll be frequenting this place. The only knock I have is the service. It seemed hard to get their attention and get our order right. We also had to ask for items that should be common for Pho, like all the sauces which are usually on the table. I feel like the service thing might be a regional issue cause since we've gotten here it seems service is lacking in most places. Compared to most places in Texas I didn't have to continue to flag someone down so often. Maybe it's just a bias or I'm thinking too much into it. read more
